Yelp
Wendy gave us the best experience ever! So happy to be here! She was so attentive to all of our wishes, the best guest connection out here at seaside lounge

Yelp
Fantastic! Had the best time with our server Rob on the sun deck. He was absolutely amazing and made sure we had everything we needed! My friends and I had the best conversations with Rob and he made our time eating here truly unforgettable. If you see Rob, know he's a good time !

Yelp
When I first arrived in San Diego in 1984, I visited Coronado and stayed at this gorgeous, historical, timeless hotel resort called "Hotel Del Coronado." The Hotel Del was built in 1888. It's one of the largest wooden buildings in the United States. I was so inspired by this hotel that I wrote a poem about it. I have been coming here to either stay at the hotel over the years or attend the Christmas celebrations to include their "famous" and delicious Christmas brunch they offer every year. When you visit the resort you feel as if you have stepped back in time when you arrive because of the antiquity of the hotel's architecture. If you love bygone movies that were classics, the movie, "Some Like it Hot" was filmed here that featured Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon in 1959 which was an American Crime Comedy movie. If you have not seen it, I highly recommend it. Old Hollywood used to visit and escape to The Hotel Del Coronado frequently. I wonder if some still do. If you are into ghost stories, the hotel has a room that is haunted if you dare, by a woman named Kate Morgan. If you have the curiosity to read about the story of her life, please do. The hotel not only has beautiful architecture, but the inside of the hotel to include the rooms and everywhere in the resort is beautiful, clean, classic, and comfortable. There are many shops to indulge in along with great restaurants inside the hotel as well as outside and all over Coronado. So many amenities one could never be bored. The resort offers three pools, a pickleball court, a luxury wellness center, a day spa, and the best part delicious dining! So many to choose from! The beach is so clean, gorgeous, and vast! I love how there is so much space it never feels crowded. I feel so fortunate to live in San Diego because I can visit the resort and hang out in Coronado continually! I look forward enthusiastically every time I stay and visit. I feel so happy and content! If you desire to be transported back in time, like to experience love, laughter, and fun, book your stay today! Or, how about, you just visit and let happiness happen at "The Hotel Del Coronado!" Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Yelp
Hotel Del Coronado has been here since 1888 and it's Victorian architectural design is iconic. Coronado is a Spanish word meaning Crown. The crown motif design is seen throughout the hotel. The last time I stayed here was over 3 decades, so to revisit 'the Del' brought back great memories that's priceless compared to my recent visits. Due to germ infested sewage from the southern neighboring country, the beach in this area, I have avoided frequent visits here. However, as with many hotel resorts, the Del was worth a Christmas visit just to see the Xmas tree decorations and brunch at the Crown Room. The hotel lobby showcased the Christmas tree and was spectacular. The Crown Room is the dining room with crown lighting overhead and was super crowded. I'm not a big fan of buffets especially when it's so crowded, the quality of the food wasn't impressive. I did the obligatory family get together brunch, had mostly fruit and the prime rib... both were just satisfactory not great. Buffet is synonymous to cafeteria style, no artful plating presentation, that doesn't merit photos, I hate seeing sloppy plating of food, it's also unappealing. Granted, I just returned from Paris and had beaucoup french feasts, I thought the Del's Crown Room buffet would be at par with food selections and service but I was wrong, food and service were both subpar yet the $$$$ is unjustifiable. The Hotel Del Coronado is still under an over $160 million major renovation and I must say that major improvements are desperately needed in order to restore this resort back to the crown jewel it once was. Until all that work is done, a visit here is a must but probably NOT worth it.

Yelp
I have to say -- I absolutely love(d) this place. I dragged my boyfriend here 4 times this year alone and my family has gone every year since I can remember. We had a really disappointing, stressful experience last night and it put a very bad taste in all of our mouthes and I will not be recommending it any longer for visitors in town during the holidays. What a disappointment after years of joyful, fun experiences. Essentially, we ate at their "Frostbite Lounge" which we've done the last three years, and for some reason this time -- they were extremely rude and pushy for us to get in and out of there, although there were no other tables filled other than our other family members at the one next to us. And if they reply there were other reservations- there clearly weren't when you offer us to pay the fee again and there was absolutely no need to push us out until another came. Although my problem isn't that they gave us a time limit -- although aren't we past COVID and especially when I see zero people around and you say we could book another reservation. That is some clear evidence they just want your money and it felt like a sham. It's a $250 fee just to reserve, and doesn't include skating whatsoever (which was an hour and a half wait - the entire time of our reservation) nor any food or beverage. My issue is the stressful experience of being constantly reminded of said "time limit" not one but 3-4 times (that I'm aware of; potentially more). Who would want to attend a dinner like that or experience? You could've told us ONE time and not remind us every time we order anything. Just crazy to me because we would have paid more and I wouldn't have this now sour taste in my mouth and my other 14+ family members. Jason the manager (I believe) was not helpful and frankly very rude at the end when our family next to us was still sitting there at their lounge, with zero of this type of treatment of constant reminders and upon receiving the bill and our drinks - told us to take -- which all took forever to get by the way -- as "roadies". I couldn't believe it. We had already paid the bill and were eager to leave and stressed from the experience, but to be told immediately to take our $20 Dixie cup cocktails with us - how is that okay customer service? Why would we ever want to return and spend money at your pop up? That's not worth the cost. We would've just closed out entirely and gone to one of the other Hotel Del bars. The rudest service and customer experience I've ever experienced. Would not recommend especially their holiday pop ups to large family's like ours - namely the Frostbite Lounge - unfortunately which I used to love. It's not worth the $40+ parking, traffic and extremely costly experience where you're reminded you need to leave constantly. Don't waste your money.

Yelp
I had a disappointing experience at Hilton Coronado in San Diego. Despite the 4 PM check-in time, we arrived at 2 PM and were told our room wasn't ready. The front desk offered to upgrade us to a room with a view for $250, but we declined and chose to wait. At 4 PM, when we returned to check in, they informed us our original 5th-floor room (which we had selected via mobile check-in) was replaced with a room on the corner of the 3rd floor. When we brought this up, they offered another upgrade for $85 or $100 for a room with a view. Frustrated and left with no choice, we paid an additional $100 to switch rooms. It was extremely unpleasant to wait two hours and then feel pressured into paying for an upgrade. This practice of recommending paid upgrades instead of honoring the original room selection is unacceptable and left us with a very negative impression of the hotel.

Yelp
Staying at the Hotel Del was a dream come true! My husband and I got married on the beach in front of the hotel and we knew we wanted to stay here. Locals and travelers know this is one of the most luxurious places to stay. I love the old Hollywood history with this place and it has a very romantic and enchanting vibe to it. It's on the pricey side to stay here... but definitely worth it. At the advice of our wedding planner, we chose to stay at The Views which was right on the water. We had a side partial water view (see photo) and it was perfect! The room was clean and updated. It had a lot of space which we utilized getting ready for the big day. My favorite thing about this room was a patio. We loved just having our coffee and seeing the view. Everything about this place was truly a dream! I look forward to visiting and staying again. **PRO TIP- One great activity they have during the winter is ice skating! It's truly an experience to ice skate with beach views. Highly recommend it during sunset **

Yelp
Only visited the property here, but loved every bit of this historic hotel. It's very charming. They have a couple of fun bars and restaurants overlooking the ocean. Definitely the perfect mini getaway.

Yelp
It's our third time at tea at the Coronado. It was pretty good. The ambience was amazing. We will be back.

Tami D.

Yelp
Our recent stay at the Del was terrible. Our room was considered a resort view and runs about $750-$1000 a night during the off-season. When we opened the window and saw a brick wall and dirt everywhere, we called a manager. She was condescending and rude. They never offered us another room (they didn't have another room in the same category?). The blood on the bathroom wall was the deal breaker. We will not be back again.

Rose H.

Yelp
Perfect location, beautiful views, great service, wonderful food, pricy. If you sit on the couches there is a $175 minimum during the week for lunch time: we chose to sit at a table Great experience, delicious fresh food

Karina G.

Yelp
The Del is an amazing hotel! While we were there, the hotel itself was under construction, however we stayed in their properties on site. The service, restaurants, shopping and location is the best! It would be hard to beat out this beautiful hotel! It's was built in 1888 by a ship builder, which only took him and his crew an unbelievable 11 months to complete! The hotel has been under a 10 year renovation, but have many properties on site to stay at. 1000% recommend!

Yelp
Where is one place that takes you back to the early 1800s with the looks of the style and grace of a Hotel with an Island Flare ? For the Island of Coronado was one that was for the businessmen and with the high class companymen would come there to come and cacation. For the many years the time had changed with the many laws there was the dark history of Bootlegging . The history of the Hotel Del Coronado is one that has the many stars with the many famous movies with the many stars of president Regan and Marilyn Monroe the one movie that draws attention is the stars of Dean Martin and Marilyn Monroe . One of the most beautiful places for the times that I have traveled to the Hotel Del is when you can come and walk through and see the many Christmas lights the Del Coronado creates the world of magic From the bus ride on Tuesday having lunch at the landing is one that you can find great lunch at the landing with some of the best prices for lunch . The many restaurants you can find on the Orange Avenue for many of the restaurants of the Island. Hotel Del Coronado is one you can find many of the classic restaurants there for the cooks they have are some of the best . As a Yelp Elite Reviewer the customer service they have at the Hotel Del Coronado the feel of History athe hotel you could get lost at the hotel enjoying the many great things . Hotel Del Coronado has so many specials you can spend with your family or with your wife a special Holiday time. Happy Holidays to one and all .

Preeti M.

Yelp
I will always find the hotel del to be a special place. I have been coming here since childhood and it is always such a magical experience to watch the sunset. The staff is generally very good. Sometimes you get a little CA attitude but for most of the time, they exude kindness and warmth. There is no better place in SD to watch sunset with a glass of bubbly!

Bel H.

Yelp
Attended few events here and have dined here as well. Most recent event attended was a holiday Christmas party. Who has not heard about hotel Del? It's about the classic Victorian architecture to the modern SoCal scene, it's all about the scenery, water view. The celebration was at Southpointe event center. Had the whole front lawn, red carpet set up, multiple mini bar across, and of course a huge Christmas tree along the side. First drink : Old fashioned. The way the mixologist made it was just Delightful. wiped the inside of the glass with an orange slice before pouring the contents. maraschino cherry just before adding the orange twist! The second bar tender inside the ballroom was not as friendly. specifically asked him on what I wanted in my drink, He made the Old fashioned drink different. I asked for 3 maraschino cherries, and only gave me 1. Food: excellent. Ahi poke for appetizer- fresh, yummy. Had fish and steak cooked to perfection, melts in your mouth. Can't complain about the dessert, cheesecake with blueberries , soooo good, not overwhelmingly sweet. Just did not like the wedge salad, it was spicy (just not a fan of spicy foods). Service: The servers were very friendly and cheerful ( except for the second bar tender). The only thing was, our table was not served coffee after the dessert ( table missed ). Had to ask, and coffee were served. Parking was never easy. But now, it's gotten worst . Part of the self parking space area are is not accessible bec of the constructions, and this is all throughout the Del ground. Hard to really appreciate the beauty of the Del specially during this time of the year . Yes there are street parking, difficult, and yes valet is available. Self parking $35 for 2 hours and additional $15 every 15 min thereafter. Holiday Festival is happening. SKATING BY THE SEA, PHOTOS WITH SANTA, "ALL THAT JAZZ" LIGHTSHOW SPECTACULAR @ Founders Lawn from 5-9 pm. And of course the beachside igloos, your own private bon fire , will need a reservation for this one . Wheelchair access ( not sure how the Del is handling the disabled parking space, how accessible it is.

Yelp
I had been to the Hotel del Coronado some time ago. Much has changed, and there was construction in progress. We wanted to have lunch outside so we selected the Sun Deck. The menu didn't impress, and it was very pricey. I ordered the Mahi Mahi Sandwich on Focaccia which came with fries. While the fish was delicious, it wasn't particularly what I wanted. I didn't eat all the bread. We strolled the hotel and grounds, the took the bus back to the ferry landing. 101

Yelp
So during our Anniversary get away we went to Coronado Beach. How is it that I am a southern Cali girl and have never been here. I have read all about the hotel, how it was built and who has visited. I always wondered was it worth the HYPE??? All I can say is YES!!!! This place is massive. I'm an old fashioned kind of girl and this place reeks of nostalgia. The hotel/resort is very grand and sits right on the beach. From what I could gather there's private villas you can rent or stay at the hotel. There were a lot of different events going on this particular day. They even have a beach front bar that has live entertainment. Inside of the hotel they have a really cool old working elevator. Gift shops and restaurants abound. We got really good Gelato from the Gelato shop and a cool coffee cup from the gift shop. I will say come prepared to spend some money. Nothing was cheap.... The atmosphere made me feel like I was in a bygone area. I would love to come back for a stay at the hotel along with dinner, but I will definitely have to save up for it. If you haven't been I would suggest a day trip, it a really cool like island. Ps- This is also a military island so we got to see plenty of jets and helicopters flying over.

Yelp
This review is for their Christmas Day brunch. What a disappointment! For the price of over $200 per person - plus additional prepaid gratuities, historic preservation fee and parking fee, I would have expected much better. The meats were delicious but the rest of the food was really nothing special. The worst part was the service. Our waiter complained to us how he had worked 12 hours the day before and was tired. I guess that explained his lack of attention and forgetfulness in refilling coffees or removing plates. Despite there being a lot of busboys, our empty plates remained on the table for a really long time, at which point we put them on an empty chair where they remained until we left. Also, there was a long to wait for our car to be brought to us from the valet. Definitely a disappointing experience. Last year we went to Vintana in Escondido and the year before to the Fairmont Grand Del Mar - which were both 100% better than our experience at the Hotel Del Coronado.

Steve D.

Yelp
Brianna, Jason, Sky & Rachael were all amazing! Our daughters loved the ice-skating rink and the frostbite lounge! Their service was five stars all the way, and they made us feel so welcome! We will be back again!

Yelp
**Yelp Review for Pool Bar at Hotel Del Coronado** Title: Discrimination or Holiday Greed? During the Thanksgiving holiday, I decided to take my daughter to the iconic Hotel Del Coronado, hoping to soak in some festive spirit. I've been a loyal patron since 1975, but this visit left me feeling more angry and disappointed than joyful. We ordered two drinks at $25 each, which we thought would be a lovely way to start our afternoon. However, our enjoyment was swiftly interrupted by a waiter who informed us that we couldn't sit at our table unless we spent a minimum of $350! Confused, we were directed to a far corner of the patio, only to be met by another waiter who informed us that we needed to spend at least $175 to sit there. At this point, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. We had already spent $50 on drinks, and I was more than willing to order appetizers to reach the required minimum. But the atmosphere that was meant to be festive and welcoming felt more like a strict and greedy enforcement of arbitrary spending limits. It's disheartening to see a beloved establishment prioritize profit over the customer experience, especially during the holiday season. It felt like there was a clear disparity in how guests were treated based on their spending power. Is this really what the Hotel Del stands for? Management needs to reevaluate their policies, especially during a time when kindness and holiday cheer should be the focus. I left feeling disheartened, and I can't help but wonder if this is a case of discrimination against those who just want to enjoy a meal and a drink without being pressured into spending exorbitantly. I hope my next visit will be more aligned with the warmth and hospitality I've come to expect from this historic hotel. Until then, I'll be looking for other places that value their customers over their bottom line.pp

Claire J.

Yelp
Here just for a drinks review! The piña colada was absolutely amazing. It's over $20 and obviously you're paying for the view, location & ambiance, so it was worth it in that sense. We will come back for these piñas, no doubt. The bartenders were not the friendliest, but they were a bit busy, so that can be forgiven.. because of the great drinks :)

Nicole Y.

Yelp
This place ot huge! It is clean and beautiful! The beach was Calming. The food and drinks eat amazing.

Helicopter H.

Yelp
This is a beautiful old hotel, and the care/maintenance is outstanding. Excellent service as well. I gave it four stars because we booked a view room and this is what they call a view. When I book a view room, give me anything. A pool, trees, preferably the beach. But anything. We got a wall. So disappointed. The room itself is fine, clean and comfortable. If we return visit, we will be more specific what a view means to us. Edited to reduce to three stars. We rented an umbrella and chairs in the beach. Ordered food and drinks. Requested a table upon which to place said food and drinks and was told no. No!! Are you serious? This may be a casual setting, but we're not heathens. It's a slow day, there are loads of table and chairs available. We don't mind paying if you want to add it to our rental fee. But even so, if you're serving food, please provide the basic amenities.

Anfeca A.

Yelp
What a beautiful place! The hotel is stunning and takes you back in time. It's got an incredible view and a we got to enjoy sitting and people watching with the ocean as the backdrop. We did not get to stay here for the night but it's on our list for next time.

Betsy M.

Yelp
What a stay! Regardless of the construction and renovation work which make areas difficult to navigate along with self parking being a beast we had a 5 star stay (with some hiccups) thanks to Laila. Not focusing on some of the issues we ran into, Laila really made sure we felt cared for and making things right. The focus of this property is definitely service delivery given most of the folks we interacted with and their willingness to help. We had a 3 night stay in The Views oceanfront room. The room was lovely and sleep quality excellent. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The hotel is an icon and regardless of construction it is still beautifully kept and the grounds gorgeous. We were here on an AMEX package and had complimentary breakfast for 2 each morning along with a $100 credit which helped cover the daily parking fee. We had a pleasant surprise of our room being ready for early check-in around 1:30pm. We had drinks in the bar, gelato and coffee from the market places and tooled around their shops as well and really loved not having to leave property/area and everything being so walkable. I will definitely come back here and maybe try a Victorian room or The Cabanas.

Kelsey C.

Yelp
Beautiful resort, perfect location. We enjoyed our basic room in The Cabanas - it's all practical nicety; plenty of clean white sheets and towels and robes to go around. There's a pool right outside and a beach only steps away. Unfortunately, it seems their best feature is location because the food was horrid. Resort prices are to be expected, and the food itself didn't taste bad, but it seems that their extensive renovations have made room service utterly unavailable. There are literally only two on-site restaurants that allow to-go orders, and one of them is a taco bar that only makes 5 items. You can ubereats or doordash but you have to physically go pick up your delivery at the front desk, which is in a different building altogether. This does not work for something who is heavily pregnant AND has a toddler, especially since the other options are a bar, a pub, and fine dining. So if you're anything less than fully able-bodied and extremely energetic, I suggest you stay somewhere else or be prepared to pay a premium for a kitchen so you can bring your own food. Still, it's overall a lovely place, and I'd consider a repeat stay for the beach access, but definitely not before the renovations are complete and room service is restored.

Gail U.

Yelp
Thanksgiving 2023 at the Del was like a fantasy time warp that kept fascinating me with every turn. The property is massive and it is part of the Hilton Curio Collection. If you've seen the movie Some like it hot featuring Marilyn Monroe it's in there. The feeling is The Grand Hotel from Somewhere In Time but way larger, more lavish and 100x the Grand Floridian. We came for the noon lunch buffet. We valet parked but the buffet is not in the main hotel as previous years in the Crown Room but down the path tothe bottom of the property in their expansive Ballrooms. We were one of the first who entered which was a good thing. The person escorting us to our table moved us closer to the buffet. The man and woman taking care of our table were excellent and so friendly and kept checking on us and took care of us throughout the meal refilling my iced decaf and Doc's Coke plus clearing our plates. We passed on the champagne. The ballroom was like stepping into a dream with beautiful centerpieces, a gossamer draping on parts of the ceiling, food stations like I've never seen before with seafood, sushi, Carved prime rib, turkey, ham and filled with every item you could wish for in a buffet. The lobster Bisque reminded me of my dad who would make it when I was a kiddo. The live band was perfect. They played songs I could recognize and the speakers were right next to our table. Usually noise would bother me but it was extraordinary. The elderly man a few tables away from me had a smile on his face as his seated body was feeling the beat There was a father and couple young sons wearing colored paper crowns. There were several people dressed like flappers of the roaring 20s or svelte young ladies in gowns fitting of that period with rhinestones or feathers draping their foreheads. Beautiful like Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady at her debut. So fabulous it added to the atmosphere. I was enamored to the hilt. The desssert with mounds of different flavors of gelato, cutest little individual desserts, caramel apples, macarons, etc so decadent. The pumpkin and chocolate gelato were so refreshing and yummy. There was a leaf shaped piped chocolate with little round crunchy balls on the top that was delightful to savor slowly. After lunch we explored the property. Sadly the museum was closed but there were so many eateries, outdoor seating areas, people everywhere enjoying their Thanksgiving afternoon. Several places guests were having ice cream, a general store, a candy shop and too many other stores to enter. Some guests were on the ice rink or taking a stroll on the pathways you could even see the ocean. The person who designed this hotel must have travelled the world or had an imagination like Walt Disney. I couldn't fathom how many hundreds of rooms there are. When you look up I felt there must be a story to this hotel in one or more of their rooms. I was so intrigued that I told Doc let's stay overnight next year. I couldn't believe they are sold out Thanksgiving and Christmas 2024 already but Valentines 2024 was available. Thank you Doc for treating me. Definitely One of the Most entirely enjoyable Thanksgivings we've spent together in my whole life just filled me in more ways than one with fascination and food galore.

Anelyssa D.

Yelp
Lived in San Diego for quite some time and really enjoy coming here to visit again. It's beautiful scenery and I didn't expect to see the Christmas lights, but it was a beautiful touch. I enjoyed the little light show in the trees. It's really packed during Christmas season, but I came here to go ice skating and was disappointed on how tiny the ring is and how many people are allowed to go skating at a time. It just seems very unorganized and overcrowded, and anyone can just throw on skates and hop in at any time. For the price of almost 100 for two people isn't worth it. I still always enjoy my time here. But if you want a more relaxing experience, walk along the beach and away from the crowds. It's a beautiful walk and I love it everytime I visit here.

Elisa G.

Yelp
My favorite place in all the land and it's even more beautiful and exciting today because my daughter is here with me!! I love the new Views rooms.

Michael T.

Yelp
We had a surprisingly wonderful time at the Hotel Del Coronado. It exceeded our expectations in a number ways. First, the hotel itself has a wonderful, historic feel that is really well done without seeming old and worn out. There were old-time style elevators and the grounds have their own special history. It was fun just to explore. The room we had was in an excellent location. It had a great view from the balcony! It was also sufficiently large enough to accommodate our large family quite well. And the beds were comfortable. As far as the resort, it was very enjoyable to walk around, especially with the beach just a short distance away. The weather when we were there was absolutely perfect. There are tidepools, and pyrite on parts of the beach that make it gleam gold in the sun. There is a pleasant boardwalk to stroll around. You can also rent umbrellas, chairs, and cabanas on the beach. There were also number of restaurants on the property, with the Shearwater brunch being absolutely amazing. There was a tasty gelato place that we stopped by for a treat at night. My wife was actually happy with her birthday trip this year because of it, which was a remarkable achievement in and of itself! Overall the hotel has had some major renovations and upgrades over the years and now it is definitely polished to a shine. Worth a visit if you have the time and means. Five stars!

James K.

Yelp
This was out first time staying in "The Views" tower. The rooms were very nice, clean, and modern. The stay itself...great as usual. The staff is amazing and there is plenty to do. We came on the last night the Christmas lights and holiday activities were going. Ice skating by the sea is a great time and we definitely plan to come for the holidays again next year! Happy New Year!

L G.

Yelp
We stayed the week between Christmas and New Year's 2024/5. The property is gorgeous, even though scaffolding covers a lot of the iconic beach resort. Lush landscaping is well maintained. Despite the crowds, there were plenty of staff to keep things running smoothly. We spent most of our free time on the beach. The kids loved looking for shells and creatures during low tide. We spent NYE on the beach, watching a movie while roasting marshmallows. While that was a fun experience, it could be improved by being able to hear the dialogue during the movie. Also, wet chairs in cold weather isn't fun--luckily we were able to get some towels from the closest pool to dry off the chairs enough that we could use them. The only thing I didn't like about our room were the doors leading into the bathroom. The French doors opened inwards to the bathroom, meaning that the doors had to be closed to be able to access the shower or sink. Otherwise, the beds were comfy, and the room was spacious enough for our family of 4 and our luggage to relax and unwind after a day of fun.

Yelp
Had an amazing afternoon at the Del . Enjoyed the history of the building as well as amazing drinks and view at the sun deck bar . In retrospect , we should have just plopped down in the couch area as it doesn't take too long to get to the $175 limit ----the view and atmosphere make it a treat worth the cost . Service was friendly and attentive ----had drinks and the pablano hummus which was fresh and loaded with dipping vegetables (and really beautiful as well). I'll be back ---after I save up again!

Yelp
Best food out there! Holiday brunch buffet was exceptional. There was something for everyone in my party and no slouch on the presentation. The food and beverage team outdid themselves. We look forward to making this a new family tradition. The beautiful Hotel Del Coronado! Where else can you dine in luxury but feel like you have time traveled?! Exquisite...

Yelp
We've never stayed at the Hotel Del, but we've dined here numerous times and attended several events. The property is well maintained, and the hotel staff could not be nicer. I really like the history and feel of the Hotel Del. No ... I have never encountered one of the hotel's famous ghosts. But I have enjoyed the beach and facilities here.

Yelp
Just visited here for sightseeing! It's located in such a beautiful place of San Diego! You'll get to see a very nice sunset from the beach and the decorations are amazing at night time! :) Had a nice touring around the hotel Love to come visit again. Cheers

Yelp
Love the hotel, view, friendly staff and the restaurants. I absolutely recommend this place. Everything is little pricey but it's worth it.

Yelp
Three night stay. The location is so nice and breathtaking. The surrounding island is so scenic and is peaceful to walk around. I booked a king and was given a queen. It actually worked out nicely for us. The website states they have toddler beds but at check in - they only have a pack n play or a rollaway. We brought our own inflatable toddler bed and glad we did. Our room was very spacious and clean. The decor is very peaceful. The bathroom area is modern but also easy and functional. It was extremely quiet so 5 stars just for that. We did look up ahead of time that the room had a mini fridge. So we planned to get some milk for our toddler. Although brand new appearing, it only turns on for about 2 hours so our milk went back over night. We did check out the pool and the beach. Towels are provided nearby. Unfortunately, the day we went to the pool it was pretty chilly so we didn't stay long. They give out swim diapers which is a nice bonus. They have valet parking and a free guest parking garage a short walk away. You just need your card key to get in and out. The town is very cute. We checked out some cute shops and ate a couple meals on the island. A couple convenance stores if you forgot something.

Yelp
I should have checked Yelp reviews. I will say the overall experience did not meet my expectations for the price/hotel level. We decided to do a last-minute trip to ring in the New Year. We arrived Friday night, and the lobby was a madhouse... you can definitely tell the holiday season is still in full swing. This property has amazing grounds, and I'd highly suggest walking them if you are in the area. However, given my experience and the price point, I'd probably opt for an airbnb the next time we come to Coronado. I am a Daimond member, but that was not acknowledged upon arrival. (They always ask in my feedback requests, so I am sharing that here as well.) People were cordial but not necessarily kind. I did have a very positive experience with valet Saturday afternoon. In addition, I opted for the Concierge Club buy-in rate and found the hostesses and servers there to be extremely pleasant. (However, that does not apply to those at the Windsor Club serving members...that was fakeness at its finest.) I did not find it worth the price. Adding family members was an additional $150/adult and $75/child per adult. Breakfast included a continental plus breakfast and one menu item, along with mimosas. They also had lunch, but I was not able to make it to check it out. It was decent, but it was definitely not worth the price, IMO. Room: We stayed on the 6th floor of The View building. There was something going with the room draft. We had to keep the balcony door cracked in order to avoid this humming noise the first two nights. Once we had someone come; he noted there was an issue at the bottom of the door that was allowing a draft underneath the room door and was able to fix it. After our 2nd night, the door lock battery apparently died, and neither our keys nor the app worked. I let the front desk clerk know there were no lights, and she already knew the issue. We we had to walk back to the lobby, then wait for 10 minutes for someone to fix our door so we could get into the room. The gentlemen working on the door were swift, but I have to say that is the first time I've ever experienced a hotel room door not working. The room only had a shower, and it was hard to keep the floor clean, so we had to have someone come clean every day. There was a very visible stain on the carpet, but other than that, it was an overall nice room. The towels could have been a much better quality and were a bit hard. I'm not sure if it was just for the holiday, but you could not call the valet to bring the car around, and now I'm nervous about checking out tomorrow. Everything here is definitely resort prices, so have your pockets ready. Brunch/breakfast is $75/adult and $45/child. The restaurants have great food, but we found excellent options off the resort grounds. All in all... great to visit, but this is not a must do, IMO. We'll probably try one more time in the summer, and if we find a good rate/point redemption value.

Yelp
The iconic Hotel Del Coronado. This is a must see you when visiting San Diego and Coronado Island. Whether it be during the Fourth of July or especially the Christmas season. They do an incredible job, decorating the hotel. The restaurant has multiple restaurants in retail shopping on site. There is some street parking. The hotel sits just steps away from the beach, which provides absolutely incredible views. The prices can be steep at times. But they are apart of the Hilton Honors. For those that take part in that rewards program.

Yelp
Second time staying here; it was an organizational catastrophe the first time. I don't know why I have it a second try. They canceled one of our rooms without telling us, then up charged us for re-reserving it when we arrived. All this took over half an hour at check in, during which the front desk person (Summer) laughed at us for our inconvenience. We get to our (up charged) rooms finally, and the 'view' of the ocean is a second floor that is blocked by a tree. The non view room is along an alley way that service carts travel all night making a huge amount of noise.

Yelp
We stopped by as tourists checking out the famous hotel. The place is very old, antique, elegantly decorated. There are many pricy stores in the lower level. We were hoping to get lunch but didn't have the foresight to make reservations ahead of time. We did come back for gelato dessert which was very good.

Yelp
Didn't know where to post this review My wife and friend had lunch outdoors at a Del Cafe. She had a chicken sandwich marinated in soy sauce with coleslaw and pickled onions along with French fries. It was a15 on a scale of 10 from what I had of her leftovers. A little pricey but that it's to expected at the Del. A lot of exterior construction going on but their views were outstanding

Yelp
This hotel is getting by on its history and location. It is nowhere near worth the price that's being charged, which is 5 star money for essentially 2 star service and amenities. I'm here struggling to get an outside delivery from KFC because we are tired of eating the fast service pizza and the other restaurants are booked or close early. There is no room service. The rooms - even upgraded ones - are like what you would see at a Holiday Inn. The customer service is terrible. Also the hotel has decided to invite the entire public to come in and use/abuse the common areas for unclear reasons. It's like a zoo. Enormous numbers of non-guests everywhere stopping to take pictures for Instagram. Avoid at all costs. Don't get trampled if you make the mistake of staying here.

Yelp
The rooms and hotel smell amazing. The rooms are beautiful & comfortable w/a view of the ocean if you can get it. The food in the bar area was horrible. The crab dip had tons of filling & no crab. I believe it was almost $30 just for that! The restaurants have gone down. Service used to be 5 star here, now it's hurried and not very friendly. Not what you expect, when you are definitely paying for it. You can't beat the beach!!

Yelp
Another trip down memory lane, I know this hotel was pretty old since 1888, and I got some history with the place on many occasions, starting with a lot of friends from out of town or for anyone outside of California and first time visiting San Diego, I would drive them cross the Coronado bridge and stopped here for a stroll around the hotel and the beach, maybe watch the sunset. At other times, I would take my exes here for a night out, we parked the car and walked down the beach at late hours, it was pretty dark, and when we were young we didn't care much for the history of this place. Up until later when I started to do more research about it, and found out about the ghost of Kate Morgan, a former guest who checked into the hotel and remained their til this day or whatever they said. During my visit at night here, and on our walks, we took some pictures under the palm trees, I did feel a chill down my spine and didn't know what it was, and I did see a woman figure in white dress walking on the sand although it was very dark but I sworn I saw her, but I never thought it was anything until I read the story, well so I encountered the ghost, then my exes refused to come back there again :) Many years later, I did attend a few parties here during Comic Con, they had private parties for some cast and crew mostly AMC from the Walking Dead and Breaking Bad plus their spin off shows. And that was it. Anyway I came back with some relatives this time to show them the place again, with the hotel, the bridge, the beach and the food. You just can't go wrong with this location.

Yelp
Review for Victorian holiday afternoon tea. Set your expectations low and prepare to get ripped off to have tea in the crown room. I was thrilled at the prospect of having afternoon tea in the Crown Room, as I visit the Del every year during the holidays and regularly enjoy tea at various establishments. Unfortunately, this experience was a disappointment and, ironically, one of the most expensive teas I've ever had. The tea itself, steeped too long and was "muddy", the 5 savories offered didn't include any tea sandwiches and instead were just appetizers. It also didn't include traditional size scones and instead had mini scones that resembled shortbread cookies. The servers seemed like they were brought in from a staffing firm and had no knowledge of the menu and serving tea. I waited over 20 minutes for my vegetarian tea although I'm not sure why since it was on the reservation. In the meantime , they dropped off my partners tea so we just sat there until mine was served, which was awkward. There were no designated servers to our table and nobody knew what was going on. Adding to the overall chaotic experience some servers also had dirty waistcoats. The harpist kept messing up on the tunes and we wondered if she was a last minute fill-in or maybe from a junior orchestra. Overall, it seemed like a thrown together, last minute idea that they scrambled to put together. Won't spend ANY more of my money at the Del again.

Yelp
Redevelopment has completely destroyed the ambiance of this grand old lady. It now has the aura of Disneyland combined with Vegas. I went there to have drinks and show the hotel off to some friends visiting from Boston, and was I embarrassed. It started with the valet asking for $45 to park less than two hours. (It was an additional $15/hr. for every hour after two with a $90 cap.) The we went in to the crowds, found the outdoor bar and sat under a heater. A server came by and pointed out that it was $250 minimum for those seats (if you didn't have a heater they were free). Ever hear of such a thing? We left, and I would suggest if you don't feel like being treated like cattle or suckers, DON'T BOOK HERE! Shame on the developers and owners for destroying this landmark.

Yelp
I've been holding off on reviewing the Del because I don't want to give it anything less than 5 stars. I just didn't have a 5 star experience. We came to the Del last December for ice skating. That I do not recommend. Insanely crowded, TINY little ice rink. I would come for the holiday happenings, but I would leave the overpriced overcrowded ice skating out of it. My partner had travel points built up and we were so in love with our surroundings that we decided to book a room last minute as they were cheap (Cheap for The Del -- around $450). We ended up in a first floor room in the Victorian. We loved our little patio and spent a lot of time on it. The room itself is nothing to write home about. It's just ... a hotel room. I was so disappointed that there were no nods or homages to the history within the room itself. The only thing historical about it was the door that didn't go all the way down to the floor which a) concerned me about bugs and b) made you hear every footstep taken and every conversation had in the hallway outside. I called the front desk for ear plugs and they immediately said "would you like a different room?" Seems like it's a common issue for noise on the first floor. I want to revisit The Del, but I don't know if I want to stay there again. I love it for the history and the lore, and they keep that alive in common areas of the hotel but I didn't find that in the rooms. I felt that there were better ways to make these old rooms modern while keeping a historic flair, and The Del fell short of that. It was not worth the price point at all. So, regretfully, I give my sweet Hotel Del Coronado 3 stars. But I'm sure I'll find myself having a drink at the Babcock & Story Bar next time I'm in SD.
