"Hôtel des Galeries is a smart 23-room boutique inside one of the city’s loveliest landmarks, the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert." - Mark Fedeli

"Hidden away within the mid-19 th -century grandeur of Brussels ’ Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, the recently opened Hotel des Galeries is an ode to contemporary Belgian design. Which is especially appropriate, since the royal galeries , in their original heyday, were centers of art and culture, attracting such francophone luminaries as Victor Hugo and Paul Verlaine. Conceived by Nadine Flammarion, of the publishing magnate family, the intimate boutique hotel’s industrial- and vintage-inflected style comes from the minds of two of Belgium’s top designers, who in turn sourced custom furnishings from local artisans—like carpets by Toulemonde Bochart and tables by Sylvain Willenz. Each of the uniquely decorated rooms and suites is bright and colorful, meant to feel like a private pied-à-terre, with rough-hewn parquet floors, colorful geometric ceramic bathroom walls, and large windows with views over the galeries , the Cathedral, or the historic rooftops. The aesthetic extends to the acclaimed restaurant, which is less a hotel restaurant and more the kind of Old World café where artists and intellectuals gather for its lively and relaxed scene. Perhaps the galeries haven’t changed so much, after all."

"The historic Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert may be reminiscent of times past but the hotel located at their centre pays homage to contemporary art and design. Opened in 2014 by Parisian publisher and art collector Nadine Flammarion, and laid out by her daughter Camille together with interior designer Fleur Delesalle, the Hotel des Galeries has raised the bar for hotels in Brussels. Spread across four floors, each of the 20 rooms and three suites retains the former shopping arcade’s parquet floors and shuttered windows. White walls are pepped up with vibrant prints by 20th and 21st- century artists such as Sonia Delaunay, the colours of which are picked out in rugs, cushions and other design details. Furniture by Belgian designers including Sylvain Willenz sits alongside antiques picked up in the Sablon neighbourhood, while books by Flammarion and ceramics made by Camille are dotted around the hotel."

"Every major city needs its business hotels — especially a city that doubles as the de facto capital of the EU. Family-run B&Bs and boutiques have popped up in Brussels in recent years, providing alternatives to the Marriotts and Radissons — but what about the sweet spot in between extremes, what about the discerning traveler who craves a strong wi-fi connection and soundproofed windows but doesn’t want to sacrifice the historic charm of the so-called Comic City?" - Tablet Hotels

Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of the old city. My room was spacious and clean and I was able to check in early! Greatly appreciated after a long overnight flight. The location of this hotel is the absolute best! Easy to the train station, Grand Place, and set inside the galleries mall which makes for easy food and coffee! I highly recommend!

I really really had high hopes for this hotel. The location is absolutely phenomenal - right in the thick of the downtown area with easy access to so many things. The room was really nice and the AC worked really well. The major issue was not being able to take a hot shower in the morning. For FIVE MORNINGS IN A ROW, my shower was lukewarm at best, with spurts of cold water (and I know I was using the shower correctly because I was able to take longer hot showers in the evening). I spoke to reception about it repeatedly, and they said they were working on it repeatedly. The day before the end of my trip, I asked if they could offer any kind of discount, such as one night free. When checking out, I was informed that they have a business to run and couldn't offer any kind of discount or refund. They also said no other guests had reported issues, and acted as if I didn't know what I was talking about. After more discussion, reception begrudgingly offered to cover the single breakfast I'd had (18 euro). EXTREMELY disappointing, and because of this, I would not stay here again. I will also note that the breakfast is extremely underwhelming for 18 euro.

Great location and a very warm reception. It was really nice of them to let us check in early when we arrived. The room itself was quite good; the only downsides were that the shower water tended to flow across the bathroom floor, and the bedsheets had a few small black stains that looked like bedbug marks—but we brought spray, so it was manageable. Other than that, highly recommended!

We stayed here for five nights and it was a very disappointing hotel. The Good: This is located in a very convenient area and in the nice building of the Galeries, so the location is great. The size of the hotel room was very large. The Bad: There is no air conditioning, so the room can get very hot. Unfortunately, opening the windows at night is not a viable option. The noise echoes inside the Galeries building ALL NIGHT and is incredibly loud with people outside talking and yelling, so it it very hard if not impossible to sleep. Closing the windows does make it quiet, but then the room gets hot. The room was in an annex building that was shared by other tenants. It was old but fairly decorated. The lighting in the room and the bathroom is terrible. Just a few very dim bulbs. With today's LED bulbs, better lighting should not be an issue. The dark hallways and entrances are not very comforting. I would not recommend for someone who might feel unsafe in the dark. The elevator was broken for a day and that meant climbing 3 flights of stairs each time. The hotel lobby does not have someone there 24/7 and you cannot access the lobby for help. You have to find the phone number (not given) to call someone for help. We have made many trips to Europe and have had pretty good experience with most of our hotel choices. Unfortunately, I would NOT recommend this to anyone.

What a great quirky boutique hotel! Rooms were spacious and comfortable. We had brekkie and it was well worth the €18. Great location if travelling by train and very centrally located. Please visit!!!

We first stayed at this hotel back in 2022 when we got engaged in Brussels and had a great experience so we're very excited to return. The week before I emailed to request the possibility of an early check in (willing to pay). I received a very prompt reply that stated although they were busy it may be possible. When we arrived we were told immediately that an early check in wasn't possible, we even asked the person on the front desk if it was possible if we upgraded. The member of staff didn't even look to see if any rooms might be available, if he had done so I would have understood, but just very rudely stated no. My husband explained that I was recently recovering from an illness and treatment and if a room became available could they text us and we would come back. There was no text. It just felt like the guy at reception couldn't even be bothered. Thinking perhaps he was having an off day we were hopeful that other staff would be more pleasant. Unfortunately that was not the case. With the exception of one person every single staff member was rude and made us feel like an imposition for daring to stay. It's so disappointing and completely opposite from our first experience. The rooms are very pretty but you could see ours was dated. Lots of stains on the rug. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a complete disaster. The shower cubicle did not contain the water so on exiting the shower there was a pool of water across the entire bathroom floor which is really dangerous. We'd been so looking forward to this trip, but I feel the staff let down what is a great space in a great location.

The front desk staff was exceptionally helpful, going above and beyond to arrange airport transportation for us when my husband suffered a fractured left clavicle. The restaurant service was warm and attentive, and the food did not disappoint. To top it all off, the location is ideal—perfectly situated for both shopping and sightseeing.

This is, unfortunately, not a four-star hotel by any reasonable standard. While the location is undeniably central and convenient, I was disappointed to find that other nearby hotels I had considered, and assumed were less central, are just as well located and offer far more.|This property has no amenities: no restaurant or food options, no gym or wellness facilities, and not even a fridge in the room. You’re essentially paying for a basic room, and even that feels past its prime. The hotel has clearly seen better days; it’s quite rundown in areas and cleanliness leaves much to be desired.||The only saving grace was the lovely, helpful staff, who really did their best. But overall, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere, you can find much better value, quality, and comfort in the same central area.

Yelp
Central hotel in Brussels with larger rooms. We stayed in this hotel for four days while using Brussels as a landing spot to visit a handful of different cities in Belgium. This was an excellent choice that has a charming, boutique feel without overly breaking the bank. Everything was within a 10-15 minute walk and felt quite peaceful despite being in the center of it all. Highly recommended stay!
