"Hôtel des Galeries is a smart 23-room boutique inside one of the city’s loveliest landmarks, the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert." - Mark Fedeli

"Hidden away within the mid-19 th -century grandeur of Brussels ’ Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, the recently opened Hotel des Galeries is an ode to contemporary Belgian design. Which is especially appropriate, since the royal galeries , in their original heyday, were centers of art and culture, attracting such francophone luminaries as Victor Hugo and Paul Verlaine. Conceived by Nadine Flammarion, of the publishing magnate family, the intimate boutique hotel’s industrial- and vintage-inflected style comes from the minds of two of Belgium’s top designers, who in turn sourced custom furnishings from local artisans—like carpets by Toulemonde Bochart and tables by Sylvain Willenz. Each of the uniquely decorated rooms and suites is bright and colorful, meant to feel like a private pied-à-terre, with rough-hewn parquet floors, colorful geometric ceramic bathroom walls, and large windows with views over the galeries , the Cathedral, or the historic rooftops. The aesthetic extends to the acclaimed restaurant, which is less a hotel restaurant and more the kind of Old World café where artists and intellectuals gather for its lively and relaxed scene. Perhaps the galeries haven’t changed so much, after all."

"The historic Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert may be reminiscent of times past but the hotel located at their centre pays homage to contemporary art and design. Opened in 2014 by Parisian publisher and art collector Nadine Flammarion, and laid out by her daughter Camille together with interior designer Fleur Delesalle, the Hotel des Galeries has raised the bar for hotels in Brussels. Spread across four floors, each of the 20 rooms and three suites retains the former shopping arcade’s parquet floors and shuttered windows. White walls are pepped up with vibrant prints by 20th and 21st- century artists such as Sonia Delaunay, the colours of which are picked out in rugs, cushions and other design details. Furniture by Belgian designers including Sylvain Willenz sits alongside antiques picked up in the Sablon neighbourhood, while books by Flammarion and ceramics made by Camille are dotted around the hotel."

Hôtel des Galeries (Brussels, Belgium) 33 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Every major city needs its business hotels — especially a city that doubles as the de facto capital of the EU. Family-run B&Bs and boutiques have popped up in Brussels in recent years, providing alternatives to the Marriotts and Radissons — but what about the sweet spot in between extremes, what about the discerning traveler who craves a strong wi-fi connection and soundproofed windows but doesn’t want to sacrifice the historic charm of the so-called Comic City?" - Tablet Hotels

This is, unfortunately, not a four-star hotel by any reasonable standard. While the location is undeniably central and convenient, I was disappointed to find that other nearby hotels I had considered, and assumed were less central, are just as well located and offer far more.|This property has no amenities: no restaurant or food options, no gym or wellness facilities, and not even a fridge in the room. You’re essentially paying for a basic room, and even that feels past its prime. The hotel has clearly seen better days; it’s quite rundown in areas and cleanliness leaves much to be desired.||The only saving grace was the lovely, helpful staff, who really did their best. But overall, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere, you can find much better value, quality, and comfort in the same central area.

Location in the Galeries is great. The rooms are nice but should have been cleaner. For a hotel in this pricing categories I would expect a better room service. We experienced dirty linens and towels.

We went to Brussels to take our young son to the Pixar exhibition and so we stayed only three nights at this hotel. The location really couldn't be better. Right off the Royal Gallery of St Hubert and a very short walk to the Grand Place square, both of which are stunning - I had no idea Brussels was this beautiful. The hotel is surrounded by chocolatiers, restaurants, places to eat waffles and have hot chocolate etc. It is also a short walk to the main shopping district. The hotel is small, and I would describe it as boutique. And we experienced it as very clean and well looked after and, although I expected some night time noise due to the hotel's centrality, it was very quiet and we weren't disturbed at all. We travel a lot, and we experienced this hotel as lovely and the staff even lovelier. We had a room that was on two levels, the upper with a double bed and the lower with a single bed, but the lower room was set up a bit more like a living area, with a desk and seating, which was perfect for us, as we used this room as a living area during the day and in the evening. The breakfast is limited, but very nice and perfectly adequate - my wife actually described the breakfast as "lovely". On one of the evenings of our stay our son didn't sleep well (nothing to do with the hotel - just one of those nights) and so I went down to breakfast to get breakfast items for the three of us to take back to the room to eat when he had awoken. The lady in the breakfast room was so, so helpful when I explained what I was doing - she got a larger tray for me and came back to the lift with me - however the lift had just broken (it was working again later that day - that's just the way with machinery - one of those things) and so I said I'd carry the breakfast tray up to our room, which was a few floors up - however, she would not let me carry it up myself and insisted on carrying it up for me - she was just so lovely and helpful. The reception staff were also really nice and helpful, polite but not intrusive. And they ordered a taxi for us to get back to the train station, informing us that if they ordered it then the taxi would come straight to the door (which it did) but if we ordered we'd have to walk up to the Main Street - they do offer a pick up service from train station etc, which we didn't take as we just got a normal taxi that was outside the train station - but I'd recommend taking the hotel's offer as the taxi driver from the train station dropped us about a 5-10 walk from the hotel as he couldn't work out how to get there. All in all it was a lovely few days in this hotel. Whilst I can see that others had a different experience, I'd happily recommend this hotel to family and friends. It was a perfect stay for us.

The room was not the one that we booked as per the pictures. No justification was provided for that. Instead of a white modern room, we stayed on a very old room African style and above a theatre. Floor very dirty. The main light was not working. No sound isolation from the street that was very noisy. Breakfast was poor with low offer for children. We do not recommend and will never repeat the experience.

Our visit was awful and full of fails. We had chosen this hotel because it looks fancy on the photos, had rooms with a bath and had a good rating. This was a mistake - for the same price we could have got a world chain hotel with spa, but we thought that it was a fancy boutique hotel and it should have been nice. No.|What we got was: |1) the water tap in the bath was not working, so I needed to fill the bath by using the shower head which was very slow (as the water jet pressure was low). |2)there was actually a hole near the tap|3)the tropical shower was also adjusted in a wrong way - too close to the wall, so you need to lean back to get under it|4)we also noticed a hole on the carpet|5)the breakfast was poor especially for this price (330 eur for 2 nights) - see the photo. There was nothing to take. I actually had seen such kind of breakfast only in hostels when I was a student, not in 4stars hotel. |I thought: ok, I’d take musli if there is nothing else just to have calories for the day (I don’t usually take musli in hotels). But then I realised the milk is over and they didn’t refill it. And there was no one of the staff to call. I needed to go to a reception to ask for a milk. Then they finally brought the milk - there was so little milk! Not enough for 1 person (there were at least 2 of us + 3-4 other people).|6)we stayed in Brussels and we expected waffles, at least some kind of them, for breakfast (it is actually common to have waffles for breakfast - even if you are not in Brussels - I had seen them in many other places). Guess what! No waffles, even croissants were so-so. And every day ONE slice of brie cheese.|7)moreover, the last day we came to breakfast at 10:15 (it is until 10:30). At 10:32 we were finishing but the guy from the staff came to us and said that it is over and we need to hurry up (there was not actually a hurry in anything as we were sitting separately from the food tables, and NO ONE WAS CLEANING ANYTHING, so we didn’t disturb anyone). Also in all hotels it is ok to finish your meal, and no one runs to you 2 minutes after the breakfast is finished. By this time we were already quite frustrated by the hotel, so my husband decided to tell the guy that we were really disappointed with the hotel enough and we would like him at least not to rush. He only said “the breakfast is finished”. We asked the guy his name to file a report on him - he refused to tell his name saying “I don’t want to listen to this and will not tell anything”. So we only know that he was wearing glasses.|And this was not the end. At 10:40 (so actually after the breakfast is finished) the other family got to the breakfast restaurant (so they were not finishing their breakfast, they just came). And the only thing they were asked “what is your room number?”. No “breakfast is finished”, nothing. I have here one question: your hotel discriminates some guests or what was it?

Location could not be better! Right in the heart of old town. So many restaurants and shops and history within a five minutes walk. The hotel room was large and the bathroom had a standing shower and a bathtub. And the toilet was in its own little room! If I came back to Brussels, I would definitely stay here again.

This is a lovely hotel in a great location for being in Brussels. The staff were always helpful, there are great cafes just a minutes walk away it is close to Metro lines. We had an attic room, all you need and roomy for Europe

Located close to Brussel-Central station, right in the middle of Royal Gallery of Saint Hubert. Everything was a stone’s throw away from the hotel. Room was spacious and the interior was great. Staffs were friendly and very helpful. Would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Central hotel in Brussels with larger rooms. We stayed in this hotel for four days while using Brussels as a landing spot to visit a handful of different cities in Belgium. This was an excellent choice that has a charming, boutique feel without overly breaking the bank. Everything was within a 10-15 minute walk and felt quite peaceful despite being in the center of it all. Highly recommended stay!
