Incredible. Amazing. Unbelievable. Home made bread. The first time I’ve got something like that in Iceland. Nice creamy salted butter. Great soup. Good fish, not the best but better than many other places. Nice small international wine and local beer. Great location. Great sense of telling the story of the place. Too bad the table cover is not also in English. Great service. Thank you very much. Enjoy everything you do, tomorrow is another day, but don’t count on it!

This remote Icelandic gem offers a unique and authentic experience. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy and inviting. Free coffee and tea are a lovely touch. The dinner was delicious, and the home-baked bread at breakfast was simply divine. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. While the rooms are basic with shared bathroom facilities, it adds to the hostel-like charm. It’s important to note that this hotel was originally a dormitory for herring factory workers, which gives it a fascinating history. If you're looking for a stay with character, this is the place for you!

An amazing location, beautiful place run by very nice people. Food was very good. Art exhibition in the old factory. Our second time there and we will be back.

Arriving late evening after a challenging road trip from Reykjavik, this wonderful remote pearl welcomed us with supper of spicy hot soup and newly baked bread. One of the tables in the dining room occupied of a semifinished jigsaw. Another of artisans preparing for an upcoming exhibition, having a friendly chat before bedtime.|The hotel room is small but cosy, windows overviewing the sea. Every hotel spot decorated with things that once belonged to somebody else or somewhere near and familiar. Very nostalgic.|Next days herring factory museum tour, led by hotel and factory owner family member Magnus, was stunning. The guide gave us the fascinating historical background as well as a crash course in engineering and genius, lack of equality for women, romance during herring season and how nature came handy for the industry for almost two decades. |Enthusiasts of Abandoned Places will absolutely adore this place.|This will be my one most surprising memory on our trip to lovely Iceland.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, fantastic food! Definitely worth the drive and the surroundings are beautiful. There’s plenty to do in the side of the fjords and it’s an amazing place to relax for a few days! 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Top location in the heart of the old history of the herring adventure in this huge factory 1935-1955. The guided tour with Héðinn is a must! Everything becomes alive and suddenly moving within the art peaces in the galery was amazing. We were lucky that the mistique Basque centre was resently opened. Not to be missed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You need to stay at this hotel for at least 2 days to sink in.

An absolute gem of a place to stop for a drink and some food (and a little respite from quite a few kilometres of gravel roads) if you are driving the scenic route up the fjord in this area. Free coffee, tasty soup and hot dogs, and a really delightful and characterful parlor and dining room.

My favorite little town getaway in Iceland. This was my second time coming here, and the first time I got to stay in the hotel overnight. I came with my husband on our honeymoon, and booked a room in the main hotel. When we arrived (after the excitement of the approach) we were informed that we'd been given a free upgrade to the 4-bedroom rental house because it was a special occasion for us and it hadn't been booked. The staff were friendly and polite, the pumpkin soup they had for lunch was phenomenal, and the common area in the hotel was extremely relaxing. With the fjord mountains around us and the massive waterfall, it's the perfect place to hide from the world for a bit and play boardgames to a stunning backdrop. My only regret was that we stayed for one night. I highly recommend the factory tour. It's interesting and thorough and gives a unique insight into Icelandic history, and proceeds go to restoration and preservation of the building.
