Items You Can (and Can't!) Take from Your Hotel Room - AFAR

"Visitors commonly take ceramic candleholders made by local Marbella potters, a nod to the property's practice of featuring and gifting locally made artisan pieces." - Nora Zelevansky

Fabulous location. We understand the hotel will be undergoing a remodel this fall. The rooms(4) we were in were clean, but dated and tired furniture. Pool with bar service fabulous and the restaurants were all very good. Nice gym- tennis courts. Great breakfast selection. Easy walk to old town Marbella - ocean is shallow but not sandy. There was a fire on the roof of the adjacent restaurant one of the nights of our visit, but it was quickly controlled and staff handled the event professionally.

Reviewed 2 days ago There is no other hotel in Marbella for us whether we travel with our children or as a couple. The hotel is very special and the staff are excellent. Friendly, welcoming and cannot do enough for you. There are excellent restaurants, a beautiful, comfortable pool area with amazing pool staff and the location is perfect. Rooms are not large but very comfortable with all amenities. We will miss it next year when it closes for a refurb but we will be back! Special thanks to Abel for all his help and for always looking after us.

I have been many times to this lovely hotel but would like to give an updated report. The experience was as good as ever. Location: excellent - right on the sea, access to the walking Paseo, not far from the Old Town and Puerto Banus and many shops and restaurants near by.|The hotel lobby makes a grand welcoming impression - stunning flower displays always, little fountain tinkling, acres of cool air condtioned space and glass doors to beautiful gardens, pool and the sea. Also offers central bar with great cocktails!|My room was on the 7th Floor and part of the Red Level Privilege programme giving you access to the Club lounge all day with open terraces, snacks and drinks always available.|The pool is enormous and there is plenty of space for sun loungers and Bali Beds without feeling crowded. The Pool Concierge Team are the best I ever encounter! Hot work in sun the but always cherful and helpful|The Ocean Suites have fantastic sea views up and down the Coast and good layouts with plenty of space and large bathrooms.|There are a lot of staff in this hotel - a Team of lovely girls in white dresses always available for guest queries, charming Reception staff, very nice breakfast hosts, personable bar staff in restaurants Bardot and Erre and effecient housekeeping which is very important. And this is what makes your stay memorable - the staff's attittude to the guest is warm, friendly, helpful and professional - nothing is too much trouble.|If there is any crticism it is that the gym is small but not many guests seem to go there and there is no business centre to link your laptop with a printer should you need that. The hotel is also very "calm" at night - not sure if that is a plus or minus!|I always come away with a good feeling - that I was looked after and cared for in beautiful surroundings and as a solo traveller this is important|Thank you Everyone!

Once again an incredible holiday at this amazing hotel. The fact that there are so many guests who come back year after year says it all. The staff cannot do enough for you. From Abel and Noelle in management, Enrique on reception, Isabel in Guest Services, Raul and Alvaro the pool attendants (get well Rafa!), and Antonio and others waiting on. It’s the staff that make this hotel extra special - the hotel location and amazing food does the rest!

This is my fourth trip to Marbella, my first time in hotel Don Pepe Gran Meliá and it was incredible! I will definitely be back here. Every aspect of the hotel is spotlessly clean, the lobby, the rooms, the gym all kept to a perfect standard. The staff worked tirelessly to ensure we had an amazing stay. The pool concierge team and the pool staff from Bardot made every day we spent by the pool perfect. Although I can’t praise the staff throughout the hotel enough, everyone was friendly and helpful. We booked the red level and the lounge experience was great. Breakfast, snacks and drinks all available in a quiet lounge area. The hotel itself is a very easy short walk to old town. The grounds of the hotel are wonderful, a mix of green gardens and pool area, with easy access to the beach and promenade. I would highly recommend a stay here, the hotel, staff and overall experience were all exceptional!

We discovered Don Pepe in februari this year and have ended up coming back two more times after that. |It is perfect for families, couples, friends and I would not hesitate to go here by myself. ||The service is AMAZING, staff is so friendly, everyone feels so warm yet professional. My 3 kids all love the kids club and the team there are so down to earth. Big up to Claudia and the 2 Cristinas who are all superheroes in my daughters eyes ♥️||The staff at the restaurant are so very service minded and everything from the flowers from the experience team, check-in receptionists, poolguys to the impeccable cleaning and service by housekeeping is close to perfection. The food in Erre is incredible and the breakfast has so many choices, both sweet, savory and healthy. I do not have anything negative at all to say about this hotel other than that I am so sad it will be closed for renovation for bigger rooms, even though I know the next visit will be even more memorable.||And.. the view. Ah, the view 👌🏽 ||Overall - this hotel is one of the main reasons I tend to always end up at a Meliá. ||Until next time 🌟

I arrived at Don Pepe Gran Melia Marbella on July 4, 2024. At the reception desk I met with Jesus one of the hotel representatives. He told us that the room was ready and gave us the keys. When we went to the room on the 6th floor, we noticed that it was occupied. I came back to the reception desk and Jesus told me that he made a mistake and gave us the wrong room. After, he gave us the keys to the different room. I stayed at the hotel about 4 days and it was a great experience. Ladies at the breakfast area were really nice and the hotel has positive vibes. On the last day, when I approached the reception desk to check out, Jesus was there. I thought that this time he would do his best so that we could leave the property happy. However, I was wrong. First, Jesus told me that I had to pay 4 euro for ordering something from the bar. I told him that we never used anything from the bar and asked him to provide more details, but he refused and presented me with the invoice for payment. I was waiting for a taxi and did not have time to go into details and just paid the requested amount. What he did next shocked me. I asked him that I wanted to exchange US dollars into Euros. He told me that I must pay a 4% commission fee. I was surprised since I did exchange couple of times before and no one told me or charged me 4% commission fee. In response he told me that with him I had to pay. I asked him can you show me your policy about commission, but he said that there was no policy, and I had to pay. I refused to continue my transaction, and we left the property. So bottom line, try to avoid Jesus at the reception desk and ask someone else to help you. I do not know if they management was aware but this guy should be fired for sure.

The hotel location is extraordinary and why it’s given a 4 star rating. The hotel is ocean front with beautiful views that offer a refreshing breeze. The hotel has several restaurants on property: poolside cafe, sushi, Chinese restaurant, bar restaurant and a steakhouse. The room included a buffet breakfast which was okay; more scaled back and unchanged from day to day than other hotels we stayed in Madrid and Seville. The lobby area was very beautiful but the bedrooms and hallways are starting to look dated and worn. Chipped paint on handrails, overall just a bit tired looking which is why I gave it 4 stars. If you want to use a lounge chair at the beach is $30 a day regardless of whether you are a hotel guest or the time of day. IMO not worth it. It’s a narrow meh beach. One of their restaurants (China Crown) charged $10 euros for plate settings and when I questioned it she said they all do that and customary throughout Spain. Well we had 30 meals in Spain including several at this hotel and this was the first and only time. Frankly, it’s outrageous to spend $1200 a night (I had 2 ocean front rooms) and then be asked to pay $10 for place settings!!! She removed the charge but it’s annoying to have to pay such close attention. The pool area is great and the pool attendants do a great job of getting you chairs and towels. The front desk personnel are also extremely friendly and helpful. So the staff get a 5 star but the facility is all about location. If being on the beach and ocean is most important then I’m sure you’ll love this hotel. We enjoyed our stay and Marbella is a beautiful city to visit!

Yelp
The full name of this hotel is: Don Pepe Gran Meliá. It is a great place, located just about 15 minutes walking from the old city center of Marbella. It is also right on the boardwalk that runs along the beach, and that you can use to get to the city center. The boardwalk is full of restaurants and bars, which makes the location of the hotel even better. The hotel facilities are in great shape, spacious rooms with views of the Mediterranean Sea, large outdoor pool, heated indoor pool, large fitness center, 3 restaurants, lots of lounge chairs around the pool deck, as well as, on the lawn area next to the pool. Another big plus for this hotel is the breakfast buffet they offer and that is included with the room rate. Huge selection of breads, meats, eggs, juices and fresh fruit. Also, the service in general is great, in all of the areas of the hotel. Excellent place to vacation in Marbella.

Yelp
Great place to stay right on the beachfront and boardwalk. The Décor could use some updating but overall still great in book! Definitely recommended!
