The 17 Best Hotels in San Francisco of 2024

"Hotel Drisco is a sophisticated stay unlike any other. Here, guests can expect the finest in service throughout the day, but especially during its famed turndown service. That's when guests can request not only their linens turned down but also fresh chocolate-covered shortbread cookies delivered to their bedside, along with their choice of pillows from the pillow menu. There are even sound machines for those who need a little help getting to sleep." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"Charming, with the feel of a country getaway—even though it's in Pacific Heights. Request turn-down service, and you’ll return to find a white-noise machine and a chocolate shortbread cookie stamped with the hotel logo. Don't miss the complimentary breakfast buffet—it's a beautiful spread. This is more for those looking for an intimate experience in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. It would be great for special occasions and staycations." - Megan McCrea, Jenna Scatena

Hotel Drisco

"How did it strike you on arrival?Pure charm. The hotel is in the tony Pacific Heights neighborhood, on a hillside tucked between mansions. Walking up the stone steps into the wood-paneled lobby feels like walking into a charming country inn—in the middle of San Francisco. It has a far more intimate vibe than so many hotels in the city, and it's clear they're paying attention to the details—inlaid wooden floors, chocolate cookies in the shape of the hotel logo, and even real metal keys tucked in cubbies behind the carved front desk. What’s the crowd like?At the hotel's complimentary breakfast, you'll see couples in athleisure wear and business men in suits. Guests skew a bit older, and the Drisco often hosts guests celebrating big occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries. Mention that's what you're here for, and they'll give you a bottle of wine to celebrate. About 80 percent of their guests come from the United States. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The rooms are done in cream and white, from the patterned carpet to the drapes and the bedding. The hotel is serious about environmental issues, so each room contains a Brita pitcher and glass Hotel Drisco water bottles that guests are invited to take with them when they leave. They also feature Nespresso coffee machines, Ikaati tea, and a pillow menu. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The beds are king-sized, with pillow top mattresses. Request turn-down service, and you’ll return to find a white-noise machine and a chocolate shortbread cookie stamped with the hotel logo. In-room sound machines ensure that guests can get a good night's sleep despite noise from the street or other guests. (As I was hanging around in the sitting room, a guest asked if she could purchase the sheets, she liked them so much). How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies? The complimentary breakfast is a beautiful spread, with tiny, raspberry-topped fruit and yogurt parfaits, hot oatmeal, bagels and lox, wee jars of clotted cream, and trendy extras like celery juice and organic protein shots. The Drisco has done away with its mini-bars, because they weren't used much, but it does have 24-hour room service, and full place settings of china in room. There is also complimentary wine, and cold and hot hors d'oeuvres in the evenings. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.At the Hotel Drisco, bathrooms are spacious and opulent, with white marble showers and black marble counters. Each room comes with robes and a pair of slippers, the bathroom products are by Bvlgari, and they even include Poo-Pourri, the, uh, "spritz the bowl before you go and no one will ever know" product. Bathroom floors are heated. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is strong enough for you to stream movies from your room, and it's complimentary. The hotel also has Blu-ray players in each room, and a collection of discs for guests to borrow. Eventually, they will phase Blu-ray out for digital options, but families enjoy the convenience. Room service: Worth it?Soups and salads, like the big hearty salad with Humboldt Fog goat cheese and strawberries ($12) and grilled chicken panini ($12), are made fresh, while entrees like braised beef short ribs ($22) are made sous-vide by a chef in Sonoma, and heated by the staff at the hotel. Prices are very reasonable for food in San Francisco, where a takeout salad can run over $15. The best news of all is that it's 24 hours. Staff: If you could award one a trophy, who gets it, and why?The complimentary breakfast is a buffet, but hotel staff takes coffee orders. One made me a fantastic latte. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The hotel has a small gym with a Peloton, yoga mats, and TRX mount, but guests also can get complimentary passes to the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco or check out one of their complimentary bikes. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? The staff—and the manager, John Spear—care a lot about details. After their Christmas decorator moved out of state, the hotel decided they loved his work so much that they would fly him in to decorate for the holidays. Bottom line: worth it, and why?If you want a big downtown hotel experience, this isn't it. Travelers looking to walk to attractions would be out of luck. This is more for those looking for an intimate experience in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. It would be great for special occasions and staycations." - Elise Craig

"There's nothing particularly hip or design-y about this old school Pacific Heights hotel, but it's classic, comfortable, and centrally located (grab a bike and explore on two wheels). They're really big on hospitality, so there are usually treats or wine set up in the lobby."

My lovely bride and I stayed at the Hotel Drisco for a week in May 2025. We travel quite often and, after just a few days, we agreed that this was easily one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. It is a beautiful Edwardian-style hotel with 44 guest rooms, built in 1903 and extensively renovated in 2017. Our guest room was tastefully appointed, with lovely views of the city. There are wonderful and thoughtful amenities: an excellent selection of breakfast choices, a generous wine reception in the afternoon, a nightly turndown service offering dark chocolate shortbread cookies (omg), a heated bathroom floor, Bulgari bath products, and even a menu offering a selection of pillow types. One of my favorite things about the guest room was that all of the windows open easily to allow in nightly breezes from the Bay. The service is simply impeccable. The hotel management and staff clearly love this place, and so did we. At the end of our stay, my bride said we will be returning to the Hotel Drisco next year and every year.

I am in SF often and have made The Drisco my home away from home. The property is small but elegant. The rooms and amenities are luxe without being over the top—bedding, pillows, and towels are of the best quality. The complimentary full breakfast and cocktail hour replete with delish small bites and lovely wine pairings are not to be missed. But it’s the staff that’s the cherry on top: professional, friendly, helpful and as accommodating as you could hope for. I gave up on the Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton about 5 years ago and have never looked back. The Drisco is always my destination of choice when a stay in SF is required.

A perfect stay for out family! Everything from the comfort and quiet of the guest room, the amenities and the food was impeccable. Breakfast is included, and it is LOVELY. The cocktail hour is also included and very nice, especially as a light meal one day when we’d had a big lunch. It’s a high-end hotel, but a great value for the quality and what’s included. The Pacific Heights location is also very convenient for just anout anything in SF

The Hotel Drisco was everything we hoped it would be and more. The neighborhood is just beautiful and so safe. Staff is friendly, especially the manager, John, who greeted us every morning at breakfast and every evening at the wine reception. Speaking of which, both were incredible and plentiful. After long days of touring the city it was so wonderful to come back to this home away from home.||The rooms are so comfortable. And they really thought of everything. The ambiance is serene and we immediately felt that we were on holiday. This will be our hotel of choice anytime we return to this area. I can't recommend Hotel Drisco more strongly.

Google
I can't say enough good things about this boutique hotel—it's truly a hidden gem tucked into one of San Francisco's most elegant neighborhoods. Surrounded by posh residences and world-class shopping, the location alone is worth the stay. But what really sets this place apart is the thoughtful hospitality and elevated experience.||The daily happy hour is a standout—generous enough to pass for dinner, with high-quality bites and perfectly curated wine and cocktail options. It’s the kind of experience that makes you want to linger in the lounge and unwind like a local.||Mornings start with a robust breakfast spread, offering everything from fresh fruit and pastries to hot options that go far beyond your standard continental fare. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy fresh coffee, tea, and cookies—a small touch, but one that makes a big impression and adds to the overall warmth of the place.||The vibe is upscale yet intimate, stylish without being pretentious. Whether you're in town for shopping, sightseeing, or just a luxurious weekend escape, this hotel delivers on every front.||Highly recommended—I’ll definitely be back.

Google
Amazing hotel in a perfect location to view and explore San Francisco. 3 blocks to the Lyon Street Steps down through The Persidio, Everything at your fingertips. The staff and entire experience were outstanding. It is like they were reading our minds with service, and the special pillow options are a special touch. You definitely need to visit, but don't take my room!

Google
The hotel is a boutique hotel and therefore has a homely atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a good selection of food and drinks. I didn’t experience the evening drinks on offer which I’m sure would also be a great opportunity to enjoy the evening pre dinner. My bedroom and en-suite bathroom were very comfortable and well serviced.

Google
Hotel Drisco is probably the best hotel we have stayed at. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly, and we loved the rooms, ambience and service. The view from the city view suite was amazing. We also loved the small touches like a check out goodie pouch, the make-your-own-cocktail bar during the reception, etc. Would love to visit again!

Yelp
Almost all hotels in the city are concentrated downtown (thanks NIMBYs!) which means as downtown has deteriorated post pandemic there are a small number of options in nice residential neighborhoods to turn to. Drisco is a great resource and a good place for guests who want easy access to The Presidio, the Golden Gate Bridge, Crissy Field, Marin headlands and the list goes on! They even have a few multi bedroom options for folks that need it. Residential neighborhoods all over the city would be so lucky to have a hotel like this.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Drisco over Memorial Day weekend and could not have had a more wonderful experience. Upon arrival, the front desk attendant was friendly and helpful. She let me know about the tea and coffee available in the front room (and delicious biscotti), where you can also socialize at any time. The wine reception featured delicious appetizers (I don't drink, but definitely enjoyed all of the wonderful food!) I especially enjoyed the cucumber/smoked salmon bite, the cheese/charcuterie board, and the salsa and guacamole. Breakfast was wonderful! I loved the omelette, berries, and crispy bacon. I wish I could dine here every day! My room could not have been peaceful and relaxing. The heated floor in the bathroom was perfect, the check-out gift bag was a wonderful touch, along with the shortbread cookie and pillow menu. Staying here was the most relaxed I have been in a long time. I can't wait to return!

Yelp
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Hotel Drisco is the epitome of good hospitality. From the attentive staff to the wine hour to the cleanliness of the rooms, this hotel goes above and beyond to assure visitors have a lovely stay. The next time I'm in SF I will 100% be staying here again.

Yelp
When we first checked in, the concierge guided us to the refreshments and suggested we should get some snacks and drinks. I was surprised they offered really nice wine, I can't remembered what else they were pouring but Austin Hope Cab was one of my favorite that they had. The stay was so cozy and comfortable, they even have heated floors in the restroom. Don't forget to indulged in their continental breakfast!

Yelp
Oh my goodness...the breakfast!! Everything so fresh and delicious. And the wine hour.. and the cookies. Wow. Just wow. Beautiful, clean room. Perfect high up PH location which feels 'safe' in a city that is being ruined by policies that only lunatics approve. All around 5 star perfection here!

Yelp
My fiancé and I decided to splurge on a suite the night before our civil ceremony at City Hall. We arrived early, but had no issues checking in early. They have a waiting area stocked with free coffee, tea, and delicious homemade biscottis. I loved their complimentary wine and hor d'oeuvres happy hour. There's 24-hour room service and the room service food was yummy! It did get a bit stuffy and hot in our room, but it also was a strangely warm SF day so we requested a fan. We added the indulgence package and was able to do a late 2pm checkout which was great since we needed to come back to change. Simply top notch in hospitality and we definitely want to come back in the future to celebrate our anniversary.

Yelp
Go sweet & go chic in San Francisco's Pacific Heights because in this city, the romance doesn't get better than Pacific Heights! An epically lovely, warm, cozy hotel tucked into one of the most stunning neighborhoods in America. We had a two bedroom and I felt like a princess with my own lovely flat. Everything about our stay was fabulous. They brought us a cake for my aunts birthday which was mild high marzipan delight! Light, airy, beautifully appointed. I think one of the best aspects of this hotel is its size. It feels wonderfully intimate. The breakfast was yummy, albeit somewhat Covid style so we didn't enjoy the full breakfast buffet as would've been served during non Covid. Regardless I want to come back! Planning another birthday here

Yelp
Amazing hotel. Service, amenities all top notch! Quiet and quaint location in Pacific Heights. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I had some friends visiting from out of town and suggested they stay here at the recommendation of a coworker, and boy am I glad that I did! I had never been before so I was really excited to check it out and was impressed as soon as I walked in the door. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the hotel somehow manages to pull off the perfect balance of cozy and sophisticated, with personal touches that really set it apart. The rooms are spacious and elegant, breakfast is fantastic, the beds are like a cloud, and the location makes you feel right at home like an SF native. Hotel Drisco is sensational, really, I cannot stress this enough. Can't wait until the next time I get to visit!

Yelp
Hotel Drisco's staff attention to our needs was second to none. Hotel Drisco will be our " go to " hotel for all of our future trips to San Francisco . Room amenities were an unexpected treat. Enjoyed the wine tastings each afternoon during our stay. Meal selection was carefully planned and wonderfully presented

Yelp
Seems to be a pattern here, huh? This beautiful hotel was perfect. It really could not have been any better! We arrived 4 hours early for check-in. Not a problem, our room was ready! Super ornate property, spotless luxurious rooms and super friendly staff. The wine reception was wonderful with little snacks and was made even better by the hostess Catherine. Breakfast was out of this world with many, many choices of fresh, exciting food. Located in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to restaurants and the Presidio. Really, it could not have been better.

Yelp
I have had the privilege to travel the world. Hotel Drisco is the best overall experience. It will always be the standard I compare other hotels. I fear none of the Will live up to the Drisco. Kudos the the staff and management.

Wendy K.

Yelp
The level of service and attention to detail was off the charts. The breakfast selection and food at the evening reception blew my mind. I cannot wait to come here again. I am ruined for any other hotel.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and I wish we could of stayed longer! They would get 10 stars or 100 from us. From the moment you walk into this hotel you feel welcomed and relaxed. The beds are so comfortable, everything is so clean, all staff doesnt matter who you run into or see they are so friendly and helpful, the food is outstanding, their customer service is the best from any hotel I have had in years! If you are looking for a place a stay you will never want to leave this place!!! If we are ever back in SF we will be staying here

Yelp
Have been coming to San Francisco for 40 years and this was the best hotel experience I've ever had. The place is elegantly understated and appointed. Their location in Pacific Heights is very quiet, extremely safe and filled with beautiful mansions. The staff accommodated us with an early check-in and when we had to leave very early before breakfast started. There's 24-hour room service. They have an incredibly fresh, diverse and expansive breakfast buffet included, as well as a big complimentary Happy Hour spread with a lot of wine and beer choices. The room was large with a very comfortable bed, great chairs, a big bathroom and a nice desk area. This will be our go-to Hotel in the future. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel What a great find! Recently renovated! The staff are just a dream here! Everyone! Reception, housekeeping, dining room, manager......everyone is amazing! The continental breakfast is lovely! So much to choose from! Dinning room is cozy and welcoming. The happy hour was so awesome! Nice wines and delish appetizers. What a nice surprise! Our room was everything I could have hoped for: comfy bed, nice sheets, well appointed bathroom... We had a group traveling with us and everyone loved the drisco!!! Can't stop talking about it! I wouldn't stay anywhere else in San Francisco. Another big plus is how quiet this neighborhood is at night!! We had our windows open and it was sooo quiet! Great nights sleep! The neighborhood, Pacific Heights is gorgeous! Great restaurants! All in walking distance!

Yelp
When our daughter moved from to SF the summer of 2015 we wanted to stay near her housing in Pacific Heights, and Hotel Drisco happened to be around the corner, so we booked a suite for three nights. We had a 2-bedroom suite (two separate bedrooms with a hallway) for the three of us so she could enjoy the hotel while she moved in over the weekend. We had absolutely no idea that Drisco would become our favorite hotel to return to. It has become our home away from home whenever we visit her. We have thought of trying other hotels in SF--ones closer to downtown--but we keep returning to Drisco. Drisco is an incredible boutique hotel with personal touches that are just unparalleled in hospitality these days. There is always a bowl of fresh apples and another bowl of individually wrapped mini Jelly Belly beans in the foyer. In the adjacent sitting room there is 24/7 tea and coffee service, and iced water. Guests also receive complimentary glass bottles with a neoprene case so you can refill it throughout your stay (they will give you extras if you ask). And, the rooms have Nespresso makers (no Keurigs here -- they know good coffee). They also offer complimentary bike rentals, and they provide a free one-way ride downtown weekday mornings. Perhaps what I love best about Drisco is the food. Though it doesn't have an actual restaurant, they have a fabulous 5pm wine hour every evening and an even better Continental breakfast every morning. The wine hour isn't just some cheap wine with a few bowls of pretzels. Their sommelier serves various reds and whites and is able and willing to discuss their origins with guests. There are also platters of various meats and cheeses, and often there are mini hot meatballs (my favorite). Breakfast, however, is definitely what I look forward to the most. Though it's advertised as a Continental breakfast because there are no hot foods cooked, it is as luxurious and filling a breakfast as you'll find anywhere. They have an assortment of smoothies/health elixirs, smoked salmon, bagels, breads, and muffins, cereals, granolas, and oatmeals (with various toppings), jams, jellies, curds, and butters, and yogurts. I'm sure I'm missing some items but you get the idea. AND, they prepare the most amazing lattes and espressos (using Illy coffee). And you can order as many as you want. This entire breakfast, including the fancy coffee drinks, is included each day of your stay. I linger long enough, and eat enough, to skip lunch and eat again at the 5pm wine hour. Seriously, there's that much food. As for the rooms, I personally preferred the rooms before the renovation two years ago. They are very similar now, but they removed the deep soaking tubs from most of the rooms as a part of the renovation, so now if I get a room without a tub I can't take a long hot bath anymore. But, the rooms are incredibly comfortable. My husband and I usually get a 2-room suite (a bedroom with a separate sitting room), which is far nicer than our home. The bed is ridiculously comfortable, and while there are pillows on the bed, if you are picky and want or need another kind of pillow, they have a pillow menu where you can choose what you prefer (down or synthetic, firm or soft, etc). They of course have robes and slippers for your use during the stay, and they have lovely toiletries in the bathroom. Like many older buildings in SF, Drisco did not have AC, just fans, so if we visited in the summer it was a bit hot. I think with their renovation they added AC so now it is more comfortable. I could go on and on about how much my husband and I love Drisco. He says it is his favorite hotel in the world (we haven't traveled all that much, but he likes Drisco even more than Hotel 41 in London that is a similar boutique hotel). What makes Drisco stand out is its attention to its guests, its amenities, and its unassuming luxury. They provide whatever you may want, but they don't hover. If you don't mind being a few miles from downtown and want the absolute best, most comfortable, and enjoyable stay while visiting SF, then Drisco is the only place to consider. (And yes, wifi is free).

Yelp
Fantastic place to stay in San Francisco, if you don't need to be near downtown. The service is impeccable - there are so many thoughtful features and touches everywhere. Robes and slippers, glass water bottles, complimentary valet and re-parking, wine reception, great breakfast choices, and chauffeur service. Heated floors in the bathrooms, selection of pillow firmness, sound machines, etc. etc. They even have a library of DVDs available! I stayed here for my birthday with my boyfriend and our room had champagne, nuts, and a birthday card waiting, which was very thoughtful. The City View rooms are worth the additional expense, as you can see a lot of the SF skyline! My only issue is that you could hear things in the hallway if they were a bit loud, but otherwise, A+.

Yelp
Our home away from home. Amazing staff, location, so quiet and so comfortable. This is our go-to in San Francisco. A gem.

Caytha J.

Yelp
This was one of my most favorite hotel experiences. The location is fabulous and the service and amenities second to none. They provide free internet, coffee service and a sumptuous breakfast and wine and cheese happy hour! There are free water bottles in the room in glass bottles that are complimentary and now my favorite on the go bottle. I tend towards Airbnb, but would come back here in a heartbeat when in SF!

Yelp
Don't tell anyone else about this hotel, let's keep the secret to ourselves. Now that wouldn't be nice to the people that work there but I love this hotel. only place I will stay in San Francisco.
google avatar

Alison H.

Yelp
Yea no way I would stay anywhere else than Drisco. The location is not in the downtown area or warf so its quite and you don't feel like a tourist. Kind of like the equivalent of staying upper east or upper west in stead of mid town or union square from a NYC perspective. It has an old San Fran feel inside. The breakfast is insane and the afternoon wine and cheese thing was our jam. The breakfast and wine hour are worth $100 bucks on their own for two people. We upgraded to a suite which was a good idea. The front desk mentioned the hotel will be closed for a few months coming up soon so they can upgrade the heat, ac and elevator. They plan to keep the overall vibe of the place tho. We used the hotel chauffer twice too. We fancy.

Yelp
Beautifully appointed hotel in a terrific location for dining, strolling or just hanging out. We enjoyed a corner room, it was very quiet and comfortable. Parking is a breeze, on street is no problem at all to find and feel safe leaving your car. The neighborhood is the best in the city. We were welcomed with complimentary champagne in our room with little snacks. Two reasons for 4 stars: The in room coffee was terrible. Nespresso, I know it is supposed to be really great, but I guess we are spoiled by Peets and the fact that we have a high end Italian espresso machine at home. Nespresso has an odd "off" flavor that we both noticed. The hand tied teas are very good! I drank those while in our room in the morning. We were looking forward to breakfast - the buffet is bountiful and there is something for everyone. Unfortunately, the latte/cappuccino/espresso is the same Nespresso deal they have in the room. We ended up stopping by Peets afterwards.

Yelp
Stayed there while in San Francisco and we are so glad we did. The hotel was wonderful and so was the staff. I wish I could remember the name of one of the front desk clerks. She was incredibly nice and helpful. And so was RJ and Bob. We had a couple of challenges arise while there and these guys rose to the occasion and took care of everything above and beyond. Beyond that, the rooms were clean and well maintained and the beds, including the pull-out couch in the living room of the suite. They also offer a continental breakfast and a free wine tasting with Charcuterie. Very impressed. And I was also glad that our room had a Nespresso machine.

Yelp
My daughter and I enjoyed staying at Hotel Drisco very much. This boutique hotel is very unique starting from the location to the architectures of the building, it is a rare gem. San Francisco is known for their unique buildings but have the opportunity to stay in one is a memorable experience. Also it is clean !!! The room and bathroom are both huge. Bob, the receptionist was very welcoming when we first walked in. He thoroughly explained to us of what the hotel and the amenity for us . We first enjoyed the wine reception which they had every night , complementary, and our sommelier , Amira, was super friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great start. There are the beverages, tea and coffee at the lobby readily available. We ordered room service and the prices are so reasonable .The morning breakfast was wonderful with fresh juice ,fresh pastries and smoked salmon and more . My daughter and I loved our stay and had a wonderful experience we plan to go back and make it our tradition once a year. To sum up Hotel Drisco , it was elegant, classy ,sophisticated and very tentative to their guest. I am impressed.

Yelp
This place gets what so many hotels don't. I'm coming to a hotel to SLEEP. Hotel Drisco is super quiet, super clean and very well appointed. They even provide sound machines in the rooms. The bathrooms have heated floors! Such a rare touch. The breakfast is amazing, tons of fresh fruit, yogurt, baked goods and protein. The staff was nice and accommodating as well. I would stay here again in a heartbeat if we come back to SF (and I'm very picky about hotels)!

Yelp
Everything is perfect! Staff, location, amenities are top notch. Me and 4 of my girlfriends stayed over the weekend in the 2-bedroom city view suite. We love it and can't get over how beautiful this hotel is!! Our suite is very spacious, it has 2 bathrooms, and the couch converts to a full-sized bed, maybe even queen-sized. It has a partial view of the Pacific Ocean from the living room and the neighborhood is safe and quiet. Breakfast has plenty of healthy options, though I think on our first stay last year, there were a lot more. But still good, no complaints! We had some fruit parfait and smoothies on the day we were checking out, which was what we were looking for. The servers are very accommodating and friendly. We love coming here and would love to stay again next time!

Yelp
I stayed here in August 2018 and had an excellent stay. All staff were exceptional, especially Shay at the front desk, who made some excellent recommendations and reservations for us. Also, the room service was delicious and reasonably priced. I cant say enough good things about this hidden gem. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! Top to bottom excellence. The rooms are beautiful, clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff is professional and friendly. They have a wine hours with delicious hors d'oeuvres. The location is a gem with sweeping views of S.F. I can't wait to go back, my husband and I had lovely stay. Luxury and relaxation at it's best.

Yelp
Love the City View Suites at Hotel Drisco. Particularly like the top floor rooms as you can hear guests above you on lower floors (not too bad and not unexpected due to age of the building). I am drawn to architecture of this era (early 1900s) and recently updated with beautiful molding, wainscoting, and other attention to design detail. Beautiful linens and super comfy beds and pillows. Soft and calming color palette. Nightly turn down. Cool gratis reusable water bottles to take away. Friendly staff. Great European style continental breakfast (charcuterie, cheese, fruit, pastries, hard boiled eggs, toast, bagels, avocados, tomatoes, lox/onions/capers, oatmeal and assorted beverages) included in room price, as is the wine reception every evening with charcuterie, cheese, nuts, olives, and chicken meatballs with marinara (quite good). In-house gratis DVDs too. Room service food is okay. A bit aways from the action but in the am there is a gratis (you pay tip) house car you can book in advance. I do wish they had this service in the afternoon and evening too; I suspect guests would actually pay for the service to cover their costs in offering it (hint, hint). On street free parking - no valet or garage.

Yelp
The most elegant, hidden, reprieve in San Francisco. I love this amazing hotel in the heart of pacific heights! I love here and booked my 78 year old parents for a 4 night stay. They're at this very hotel now experiencing perfect customer service, hospitality and wonderful people helping my parents make their move from Washington to Arizona. Upon checkin last night, the hotel put a hold on my fathers bank account leaving them with very little cash for their final "golden year" move to Arizona. Shay and Victor from the hotel went above and beyond speaking with dads bank (@WellsFargo) to finally release the $1500 hold on his liquid funds. I love them, love the hotel and HIGHLY recommend staying here if you ever visit San Francisco. Thank you Hotel Drisco

Yelp
We stayed here one night and look forward to our next stay. The hotel is off the beaten path, tucked into the Pacific Heights neighborhood. One block up from billionaires row. Shay was the front desk host when we checked in. She was friendly and professional, and handed us a warm moist towel at check in. We enjoyed tea, coffee and biscotti in the front parlor before we went up to our room. I don't remember the young man's name who showed us to our room. He went over everything in the room and offered to get ice for us. The wine reception, hosted by Amira, who is the food and beverage manager, was amazing. We had an early dinner reservations so I didn't take advantage of the food, but there was a large selection of offerings. I tasted all five wines before deciding on a glass of merlot. All of the wines were impressive. They serve complementary breakfast, and it was hard to make a decision there were so many choices. The staff at breakfast were very attentive and offered to make specialty coffee or hot chocolate. We made a ham and cheese croissant and they heated it up in the panini maker for us. For $20 you can invite non hotel guests to join you. They don't offer parking, but I understand they will move your car for you every 3 hours. We got the space right out front and didn't need to move until we checked out the next day.

Yelp
Staff and service were great. Rooms very nice and vintage. Heated floors in the bathroom! Rooms are not well insulated from the sounds in the hallway, etc so you need to keep it down. No real airconditioning and we were there with warm weather last week so the rooms just didn't cool down enough. They say it is some type of pipe system so not real vents or air blowing. Also since it is in "Billionaire's Row" of housing, no homeless, needles, or human waste in the streets of that neighborhood. I would definitely stay there again.

Yelp
My family used the Hotel Drisco as our home base for my wedding and I cannot say enough positive things about hotel and the staff. The hotel came highly recommended from friends. When we first checked in, I remember thinking that the lobby didn't seem like anything too special...but once I actually stayed there and got the full experience, I fell in love. The facilities themselves are lovely, but it's the incredible staff that will make it impossible to not love your experience. It seemed like everyone there genuinely wanted to ensure that we had the best stay possible. There really is something so wonderful about staying in more of a boutique hotel than a luxury chain. I remember when we checked in, a couple said "this was one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in - far better than the Ritz". At the time I thought it was a snobby comment, but after my time there, I completely agree. I'll take the Hotel Drisco over any fancy recognizable hotel brand any day.

Yelp
My fiance and I spend a romantic weekend away at this beautiful hotel. The staff was amazing the Hotel was spectacular, we did not want to leave. We will surly call this our home away from home.

Yelp
It wasn't that bad, but for the price, I could have had much better. Service overall was good, but the curly-haired woman at the counter was pretty rude. The room we got had literally no view - it looked out over a wall - and the flyscreen was broken. The closet was in the back of the bathroom, so if anyone was using the loo you couldn't get to your coats. Instead of a proper ventilation system (the bathroom had no windows), there was a desk fan in the closet that I guess you're supposed to plug in? All that stuff isn't a big deal, generally-speaking, but it's the kind of thing I expect from a 2-star or maybe 3-star hotel. I don't think I'll be coming back.

Yelp
I had my bridal shower here and also stayed the night. I fell in love from the moment I set foot in the City View Suite. Granted, I am deeply in love with SF (the city I was born & raised in) and Hotel Drisco's stunning views capture the essence of all that makes San Francisco beautiful. As a boutique hotel, the staff is warm, welcoming and always helpful. The rooms are impeccably designed with 1920s-esque wallpaper, chairs...like something out of a movie. I also found parking to be shockingly easy, especially considering this is Pacific Heights. The next morning, the staff was extremely helpful in getting all my bags and leftover shower stuff, gifts, etc into my car. It's no wonder Hotel Drisco is one of the top hotels in the city.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with AMAZING service, but I'm docking a star since I think it could benefit from some simple renovations that would highly improve the rooms. Literally everything aside from the room itself was PERFECT. Some of the most noteworthy things: -The staff is available 24/7 -They will move your car around during the week days if you want to explore the city -5 - 7P they have a wine and cheese reception (totally complimentary) -Free continental breakfast that is crazy good -Everyone was VERY friendly and welcoming The only negative was the room itself. Everything in the room was just very old. The radiator was squealing all night and it was really challenging falling asleep since it was so loud. It was hard getting a good night's sleep which was a bummer since we had a long day of activities planned after our evening spent here. Overall, I'd recommend staying here, but I do hope that they fix some of the rooms to just make them a little more comfortable for guests to sleep.

Yelp
It was a week ago when I made a reservation at this hotel. I was really amazed by their staff, she was so polite, friendly, and approachable. The room where I stayed was so neat and clean as well. The bed was so comfy and soft. The breakfast buffet that they had was so impressive as well. I would give a 5-star rating to this hotel!

Yelp
Hotel Drisco really is as good as it gets; I was astounded by the property, by the neighborhood, the amenities, the staff, everything. Every last thing in this place was perfect. Stayed three nights, and when we got in staff were genuinely warm and welcoming. The young woman at the front desk had really good suggestions restaurants-wise. Every staff member we came across was friendly, and it seemed like people genuinely enjoyed working there-- which is huge in the hospitality industry, as it can be tough on its workers. The amenities offered were all above and beyond. Bulgari soaps and supplies, a heated bathroom floor, and such a lovely soft bed-- I had a very hard time leaving. The view itself was to die for. But the most unexpected delights were the spreads for evening wine social and the breakfasts-- I was blown away by the quality of the food. The coffee was delicious, and the teas they had (both coffee and tea available all day) were so. frigging. good. Jasmine song is my jam. Another big perk: There are always apples available in the lobby for a snack. At the risk of sounding like a glutton, truly: the food was so good. But everything else was too. I had such a terrific trip and Hotel Drisco had such a huge part in it. Thanks, Drisco, and see you soon, I hope!

Yelp
VERY friendly front desk staff makes you feel at home. The place is old though and you can hear everything even when inside your room. If you get a room facing inward the stay is going to be mediocre. We switched rooms to one with a view of the city and it changed our whole attitude of the place. Rooms are somewhat small but the bathrooms are spacious. The rooms are all very clean and each has a flat screen tv with DVD player. The front desk will loan you DVD's to watch for free which is very cool. The rooms have free ethernet internet. Beds and pillows are soft and very comfortable and the sliders that cover the windows prevent most light from coming in and waking you up. Great neighborhood but not really close to anything. Buy a bus/trolly pass from the front desk and a map and your golden. Free breakfast and newspaper in the morning was nice as well. The Drisco cookies are great too as was the free bottled water. Your stay being good or bad is going to depend almost entirely on what room you get so keep your fingers crossed for a room facing out.

Yelp
My girlfriend, her young adult son and I had planned a long weekend to explore San Francisco, and we wanted a hotel where we could stay in a multi-bedroom suite so we'd all have privacy but so we could also interact. The Hotel Drisco was highly rated and offered suites, so we booked a reservation, and we are SO happy we did. It was a remarkable hotel experience which greatly contributed to our visit to wonderful San Francisco. Due to a very late flight from the east coast, we arrived after midnight on the night of our scheduled arrival. Hotel Drisco immediately impressed, with a well-lighted entry on a quiet Pacific Heights area street, the trees in front of the building interlaced with miniature lights...welcoming and pretty. The two bedroom suite we'd reserved was already turned down for us, and my girlfriend's son was thrilled to hear that the room service kitchen was available to us 24 hours a day, so at 1AM, we were able to order soups, sandwiches, mac n cheese and other comfort foods served hot and tasty. That kind of exceptional customer service proved to be the norm at Hotel Drisco. The two bedrooms of the suite and the sitting room were all well-furnished and thoughtfully-decorated, lots of detailed wainscotting and ornate wood trim, but they are light and airy, with many lamps and pretty furniture. The beds in each bedroom were piled with multiple pillows, which a note indicated offered a variety of types (down-filled, memory foam, etc) and firmnesses. Several eco-friendly glass bottles of bottled water were displayed on the credenza in the sitting room, along with what we found out to be yummy chocolate cookies and a cleverly hidden coffee/expresso machine, all included as part of the room experience without extra cost. Throughout our stay, the rooms and bathrooms both were routinely freshened and turned down for us twice a day, with the considerate maid leaving several extra cookies the last three days of our stay when she recognized the boy was devouring them. We slept a little late the morning after our arrival, and we got down to the breakfast room at 9:55am, just ahead of a posted 10AM end of breakfast. Instead of remnants of food being rushed off the serving area as would be the case in most hotels, there was a full array of cereals, fruits, salmon, sliced meats and cheeses for sandwiches, bagels, juices and coffees, and the friendly attendants encouraged us to take our time, have as much we wanted, and be sure we were comfortable and not rushed. That would likewise set a tone for service at the breakfasts during our stay, including having them make us smoothies to order and hot chocolate subsequent mornings when neither was available on the buffet tables. We were able one of the days of our stay to enjoy the late afternoon wine and snacks hour, a daily event provided as another benefit of the stay without extra cost. A nice selection of wines were provided, along with olives, nuts and other finger snacks which encouraged us to sit, relax and enjoy ourselves. When we laughed about becoming too sedentary with the good wine and great food, a bellman gave us a tour of the small but very satisfactory exercise room on site, and he told us that the hotel also provides free passes to the local Presidio YMCA. They also offered free use of bikes to explore the area, but because of the hotel's prime location at the crest of a high hill (great views), we choose not take use the bikes...feared we'd kill ourselves riding down the steep hills or end up pushing them rather than riding them back uphill! We carried some left overs from a restaurant back to the hotel one evening during out stay, and were told they would gladly heat them up anytime we wanted (again, 24 hours a day!). The one evening we returned to the hotel early in the evening, the young lady working at the front desk offered a selection of several hundred DVDs for us to watch in our suite. When I told the front desk clerk that we had a very tight schedule of activities our last day in the city, and that I needed transportation more reliable than Uber to bring us back to the airport, he promptly arranged a luxury car service to be waiting for us back at the hotel at the end of our last dinner in the city, so any stress about making our flight was alleviated. My girlfriend marveled again and again during our stay at Hotel Drisco about the thoughtful touches, the considerations and conveniences available without even needing to ask. The staff was, to a person, welcoming, friendly and attentive. Hotel Drisco is what luxury accomodations are about and I came away feeling like it was a really great value. We LOVED our stay there and I am sure if we visit San Francisco again, Hotel Drisco is the only place we will consider to stay.

Yelp
Hands down one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. Understated beautiful rooms and sitting areas. Wonderful breakfast and evening wine and appetizers. Every amenity you can imagine, and the most helpful staff. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Stayed here 3 times now, and it's a really quaint, charming hotel. This last time, we got a suite, which was much larger than a standard room where we stayed before both times. My Wife loves the tea room, fills up every time we get back from sightseeing or dining out. Room service is great, 24 hours, and they don't gouge you on prices. (Nothing like a $24 dollar hamburger at some hotels). The breakfast is also very good, with a variety of fruits, cheeses, breads, oatmeal, etc. Yes, it's on the expensive side to stay here, a splurge weekend for me, but most of the time, in life, you get what you pay for. This is a perfect example. Although there is no official hotel parking, we've been extremely lucky finding choice spots every time we've been here. Don't let that sway your decision to stay here, or not.

Yelp
Stayed here for my wedding day. While there's no ac like all older buildings in The City, the temperature was not bad at all at all in the suite. Rooms were clean. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Public Parking on the weekdays is 3 hours long from 9-6, but the hotel would gladly move your car around every 3 hours if you leave your keys with them. Breakfast was also pretty good.

Yelp
Came here for business for 2 days, needed to be near the Italian consulate, only 1/2 mile away. I was extremely impressed and happy with the 2 night stay. The hotel oozes European charm, the neighborhood is gorgeous and most importantly for San Fran incredibly quiet. The staff from top to bottom were helpful, friendly, and polite and the room and hotel spotless clean. We missed the free wine reception so the front desk brought it to our room. We were offered an upgrade into one of the city view suites for a minimal extra charge but frankly were very happy with our inner courtyard room so we declined. Breakfast was outstanding, huge spread so there is something for everyone. Felt like I was back in Switzerland. Amenities in the room were all free and bountiful, from the Bulgari products to espresso machine to even bottles of water. This hotel "gets it" by constantly surprising you with little gifts or unexpected extras. I even chose to spend a few hours in one of the front salon rooms off the lobby doing my work as it was so calm and peaceful, I felt like I was in a private library. I give the Drisco my highest recommendation, whether you come for business or vacation. It's not down in SOMA or the Market/Mission areas, but you'll get the perfect San Fran experience and respite from the city just when you need it. And feel like a millionaire, too.

Yelp
Took my mum here for her bday weekend, this is an Amazing classic yet modern hotel located in the heart of San Francisco, a few blocks down the marina and few blocks from the financial district. The rooms are great but the staff is even more amazing especially the kitchen and food crew in the morning. They were so attentive to our needs, they also serve organic protein shake perfect for my post morning amazing place, will be back, totally worth the price I pay. We will be back!!!

Yelp
We had a wonderful hotel experience at Hotel Drisco! In fact it could not have been any better! Beautifully appointed room and fabulous city view. Kind and extraordinarily attentive staff. We enjoyed the evening wine with appetizers and morning breakfast. Street parking ample. We will definitely be returning. We highly recommend this gem in Pacific Heights!
