Hôtel du Buet

Today had the menu du jour. It was three courses for a very reasonable €25 per person. Everything was very good. We have visited here a few times over the years and will continue to do so. |Our preference is to sit outside in the garden (not always an option in the winter). We have never stayed in the hotel.

Come prepared to exchange a bevy of insults with the inebriated coven who run this place. Example of customer service: “No, we can’t tell you when your room will be ready. Maybe 5pm maybe 10pm, who knows?” Check out the manager’s response to previous low reviews for an “amuse bouche” of what’s on offer if you don’t believe me. They must have a bet that their location is so great their business will survive no matter how many guests they treat like dirt.

The women who runs the place is astoundingly rude. I popped in for 1 drink and paid by card… then decided maybe I’d like another, so went to order another and when trying to pay by card again, I got a 3 minute long telling off like a school child for using the card for 2 separate payments… instead of…. Starting a tab before knowing I would want a 2nd drink Well, obviously in this scinario plenty of business have a solution to this which is a minimum card spend - which makes it clear in the first place, and doesn’t mean people can not decide later to buy more without being scolded for it. If she just asked nicely, I had cash, but she just poured the drink first and then got very angry for something which is completely normal everywhere else. Plenty of other nice places around nearby.

Came here after an ascent of Le Buet and also completing the Breche Berard route. Food looked excellent, service good too, clearly recognised that we were tired after a long day. Excellent site just across from the railway station, all the routes up the Berard valley start from here.

Strange and bad service. Ok ish food. If you have a good day I promise you the old lady in the bar can make it a bad one and make it worse than a bad one. Payment stuff not really working. Pick another place if you want to eat and drink, and your day will be much better.

Had the most amazing experience (again) at Hotel Du Buet. This hotel has been in the same family for 120 years and it really feels like you’re a guest in their home. Amazing food, drink, atmosphere, and affordable too! Well located by the train station for easy access to the slopes.

What a beautiful place to rest and refresh after a walk in the Berard Valley. A lovely garden with alpine views and a slow food ethos to allow you to take in the views. We were serviced by a charming waiter, in three languages. Simple, authentic alpine food. We can recommend the fondue...

The cafe is very hospitable and the staff is friendly. The coffee is proper 👍
