Hotel du Vin Stratford | Best places to stay in Stratford-upon-Avon |
"Ideally situated in the heart of town, just a couple of minutes’ walk from Shakespeare’s birthplace and the RSC, this former gentleman’s club and registry office now sports classic Hotel du Vin style – slick rooms with dark blue walls and sumptuous beds, a buzzy bistro and a pleasing sense of indulgence.
The cherry on the cake is the outdoor terrace; an oasis from the tourist bustle outside the door, serving drinks and dinner outside for as long as the weather allows.
This is a great choice for those wanting a cosy yet stylish boutique, somewhere slick and unfussy, that’s walking distance to all of Stratford’s main sights.

Very nice hotel for a short stay. Central, so walkable, big car park at the back. The room we had was very spacious (though, from the web description, the cheaper rooms may be relatively small). In mid-September it was very quiet. The restaurant may be the best in town.

Booked 2 rooms for ourselves plus daughter with hubby. Only stayed 1 night and this was our first time staying at HDV Stratford upon Avon. We normally stay at the Arden or Shakespeare hotel.||Well worth considering if you’re visiting Stratford. The Hotel is in a great central location. We stayed in standard double rooms and rooms are very clean and a good size. Only negative is the bathroom lighting is a bit dark.||Only had drinks there and all was good. Breakfast was really good and plenty of choice. All staff we encountered were very friendly and efficient.||Parking is limited but we were lucky enough to reserve 2 spaces when booking.||All in all a great stay at HDV Stratford upon Avon.

Stayed for two nights to attend a wedding in Warwick, HdV always my go to choice of hotel, so we’re happy to forgo the short distance by car to get to the next town. Cannot recommend HdV more highly, the brand is spot on every time - really good value and service, special thanks and shout out to Andrea on Reception and Mary for the Restaurant. Definitely not our last stay. 11/10.

I stay at Hotel du Vin quite regularly when visiting Stratford. It’s my hotel of choice not just because it’s an excellent place for me to stay but also because it’s very dog friendly and the staff are very kind to both myself and Lucy The Labrador, as they were to her predecessor, also Lucy. I always get an excellent night’s sleep here and enjoy pretheatre dinners and like sitting in the bar for a few minutes after returning from the RSC to comfortably wind down at the end of the day in the company of Lucy. The staff - all the staff - are the hotel’s jewel in the crown - they are all so kind and friendly and helpful. Thank you to them all and this morning thanks to Mary in the restaurant who was a great help in serving me so that I could sit at the special table in the area most suitable for guests accompanied by their dogs. The Hotel du Vin’s full English breakfast is one of the best around. The hotel is very conveniently located for the town’s attractions - 5 to 10 minutes walk from the theatre and 5 minutes walk from the station. So for many reasons I look forward to staying here especially as the staff are so wonderful.

We loved our overnight stay at the Hotel du Vin Stratford. It's positioned perfectly for paid parking nearby, a short walk into the busier part of town, allowing it to be a quieter stay. It's rooms are well designed and equipped, comfortable and clean!

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Du Vin. The room was spacious and comfortable. We were very well looked after by the LOVELY staff there. In particular, Miranda was an absolute delight during our final afternoon as we enjoyed some drinks on the terrace, while playing Guess Who! Ben and Ryan x

Well worth considering if you’re visiting Stratford|Great location for accessing the RSC etc|Even the standard double rooms are of good size and all have unpronounceable wine themed names|We didn’t eat there but the bar area is great and the hotel offers an ‘eco’ cleaning policy whereby you get a £15 drinks voucher if they don’t change your towels or clean your room. So we spent a happy squalid and drunk 3 days there|All the staff were brilliant |There is limited parking but there is also a public car park immediately behind the hotel which is much cheaper and only a 50m walk away|All areas accessible
