We booked our week long stay, for our impending Honeymoon to Montréal. We figured we’d need a credit card on file, as most hotels require that for the damage deposit. However, when we arrived, brand new to a foreign country, we ended up losing our entire reservation, because we couldn’t pay with cash, debit card, or virtual credit card. They ONLY accept credit card. All of our currency was in cash, and our account transfers weren’t instant, so it wasn’t going through. We had just traveled all day, landed in a completely foreign country, cold, with nobody to turn to. It was a truly scary experience, especially when we tried to book for one night, and extend/pay the rest the following day, and they not only turned us down, but completely canceled our entire reservation. We genuinely wanted to be understanding, but there was no leniency whatsoever. It seems like a smart decision, to allow guests to have more than one form of payment for their stay. For many reasons - statistically, people travel with cards, pay with cards, etc. For those of us that don’t rely on credit, our debit holds all of our money. Or, if we do a currency exchange, we’re holding cash in our hands. We would’ve love to stay here, as it seems like a truly beautiful place, and maybe one day, we’ll come back and be able to. But we were scared this time around, and I hope nobody has to experience what we did. Thankfully, there’s hotels within walking distance, that allowed cash/debit payment. It ended up being a fantastic honeymoon.

Stayed here with my wife and we had a fantastic time! This hotel has so much character. It has only 9 rooms, but the brick walls and wooden beams really do give it the european feel. The waterfall shower was wonderful, the bed came with a good number of pillows, and you have water/coffee in the room. The only negative is you can absolutely hear your neighbors come and go, or travelers passing by on the street below. The service was absolutely immaculate. 10/10. you need an extra towel, tea, help carrying your bags, no problem at all! We got some nice recommendations for food and activities as well. Also, someone is always manning the desk so if you get locked out or can't find something, you're always in safe hands. Another perk here is the breakfast. While its not the fanciest or most luxurious, we were provided a small breakfast in bed each morning. A crossaint, or other pastry, some orange juice, cheese, nuts and cranberries and a fruit bar/gronolla. We felt this was a really nice homey touch to the experience as many places offer nothing, or the generic breakfast buffet. At a room cost of around 265 CAD, I felt this was fairly reasonable. We had a nice bathroom, a couch, a king sized bed, a desk and a TV. Compared to many of the other hotels we looked at, I'm glad I selected this one. The charm of the building, the wonderful staff, and the peaceful room were worth it. If I come back to Montreal, I'd look forward to staying here again!

AMAZING! Loved this boutique hotel, is just step away from the water and the cathedral and smack dab in the middle of old port Montreal. Super cute and felt like full experience just walking up to the door. The room was very comfortable and though we stayed in the 1st floor room right off reception it was still super quiet (though the AC in that room was not very strong). The included breakfast was 10/10 perfect. Only thing I'd like to see changed was the towel situation. For a boutique experience/stay I would except nicer towels that very basic towels I would see at a Holiday Inn. Overall I can't wait to come back to Montreal and 100% would be planning my stay to be here again!

I've stayed in a lot of hotels and this was by far one of my favourites!! Staff are incredible! The building is close to 200 years old! The room had gorgeous exposed brick! Bathroom was beautifully updated also with exposed brick. Loved the shower! Plus they have continental breakfast that they actually delivered to our room, which they offered to do! They asked if we had any allergies and I said gluten free so we got two lunch boxes with all gluten-free stuff including a delicious croissant with jam. We'll definitely be coming back here again!!

First time in Montréal and we stay at Epik. Location is great at Old Montréal, 2 blocks away of Notre Dame Cathedral, and Old Port. You can walk around and visit Saint Paul Street. Plenty of stores, restaurants and enjoy the walkable area. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The room is comfortable and cozy. The area is quiet, and you can rest accordingly. Definitely we will stay again here.

This hotel is charming. Our quiet room was perfect for 3 nights in Montréal. The staff are friendly and helpful. A French style breakfast is included (with a bit of English cheddar!). Parking is available. The restaurant serves fresh interesting dishes. The hotel location is perfectly set near shops and restaurants. I highly recommend Hôtel Epik.

This place is an absolute hidden gem, it has a cute little terrace in the back. The staff is super friendly and professional. The food is very fresh and they have a superbe selection of wines and specialty cocktails. If you have the chance to visit their top suite it's literally like staying at a museum split on 3 floors it offers a unique vibe perfect for small private events.

We loved our stay hotel Epik! We were amazed by the historical building and it’s original stone structure. Our room was beautiful, and quaint with a small electric fire place and an amazing shower with a normal shower head and an over head shower. The staff was friendly and provided great instruction on our arrival. In the morning they serve a complimentary breakfast in the lobby or will deliver it to your room at an arranged time. We were able to walk on foot to many historical destinations, stores and restaurants. In the mornings it can be a little loud throughout the hallways of the hotel but it is an old building so that is to be expected. There are no elevators but again that is to be expected and didn’t bother us much. We would 100% recommend this to anybody staying in the area and hope to be back in the summer months!

Yelp
This hotel looks so cool from the outside.... that I had to check it out. I walked inside, looked around and then asked for a tour. I was given a tour. The staff was nice enough but this hotel is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo old and not maintained well enough. You could just smell the "oldness"... So, I've checked this place out and I will not be booking a room here even though its located in a highly prized area like Old Montreal. The management or owner or whomever needs to update the hotel and bring it up to basic standards.

Yelp
I was super stressed out and needed to get away for the night, and Hôtel Épik came to my rescue. Service was wonderful. The room managed to be super quaint but super modern at the same time. Great location in Vieux-MTL. Really cool lights in the shower too. Comfortable bed and pillows. And can we talk about the breakfast?? They offered to bring it to my room at the time of my choice, and they brought it to me exactly when I asked them to. Fresh coffee, amazing baguette, cheese (my favourite part), juice etc all given to me with a smile in a nice basket. All of this was given to me at a fair price. Just what the doctor ordered for me. J'arrive pas d'oublier mon expérience chez Hôtel Épik !

Yelp
After a major snafu with an Airbnb con job, we were able to get rooms here last minute (thankfully) and I'm so glad we did. This boutique hotel is darling. The staff were always very nice. They even held our bags after we checked out so we could continue to explore the city before our flight later that evening. The rooms were quaint and had everything you might want, with the exception of a mini fridge. The bathroom was quite large and the shower was nice. The room was very clean (unlike the crime scene Airbnb we had previously booked). The bed was very comfortable. The regular rooms are not huge, but they were quite comfortable. The value of the room cost to room quality was very agreeable. I would absolutely stay here again if I wanted to stay in Old Quebec City district. Thank you, Hotel Epik.

Yelp
Bed Bugs!!!! Stayed in the hotel for several nights. Woke up with a few bites. Didn't think much of it at first. By the last day, I was covered in bites. Went to the doctor straight from the airport who confirmed that it was bed bug bites.

Yelp
This little hotel is so beautiful and memorable. I'm staying now as I write this. Originally I planned to stay here for two nights but I love it so much, I'm moving to another room tomorrow night to stay for another four nights. The staff is so friendly and knowledgable about the area. And this location is wonderful! It's incredibly close to historical sites, fantastic dining, amazing eclectic cafes and the street itself is picture-perfect. It's snowy outside right now and the entire experience of being in Montreal and staying at Hotel Épik is like a frosty wintertime dream. The ceilings are super high in the room I'm in and there are these old exposed beams across the ceilings. Very cool. I haven't tried the breakfast yet (Included in the fees!) but I'm sure it's going to be delish because the restaurant here is clearly loved by locals and I'm looking forward to starting my day with it tomorrow.

Yelp
The room was *cute* (we had the single queen bedroom) but the bed itself was incredibly uncomfortable (both myself and my partner woke up with very sore backs). The shower fittings were made of plastic and the handle kept coming off in our hands. The aircon could not be controlled in the room and came from the second floor down, so it was rather hot during the night. From here, it got worst. The restaurant does NOT look like the pictures I see online anymore. They are plastic 'outdoorsy' types of picnic tables with pretty crap chairs. Not the quaint boutique and banquet tables I was seeing in the pictures. We ordered the mussles and chips and to no one's surprise, the chips were served on paper. Breakfast was included in our stay, and it was literally Eggo Waffles and not homemade waffles, with a packet of cheese, a yogurt container, coffee and apple juice, all wrapped up in a box. It felt like my mother had packed me a lunch for a school trip. All in all, the pictures are extremely misleading (unless you decide to pay $10,000 per night for the penthouse suite). The one good thing; hotel staff was truly very nice and accommodating. Just disappointed that they have not updated the pictures of the venue with what it actually looks like now.

Yelp
I'm not impressed. This boutique hotel got much pleasant reviews elsewhere, but I feel it's a little lacking. The hotel itself is pretty cute, with a place to grab drinks in the front of the lobby. Rooms are unique and nice. Rooms are stocked with water in a glass carafe, free wifi, included breakfast from 7:30-10:00am. Where it starts to fall apart is the service/management and ambiance of the hotel itself. We were "lucky" enough to get the ground floor room--which is basically in the lobby. When I checked in, I turned around and the door to the room was a few feet behind me! I wouldn't have minded so much, but the lobby was SO LOUD! The noise was from 1) drunk guests of the lobby bar, 2) the music which went on all night, and 3) the bartender who stomped by our door every 5 minutes to restock her bar. I honestly cannot understand how anyone sleeps in this hotel. It's a small building and the volume of music I'm sure could be heard throughout! The other thing which I just found odd... The room comes with a keurig that uses those coffee/tea pods. I was pleased they had green tea pods, so after I used the one in the room, I asked for another one. NO ONE KNEW WHAT I WAS ASKING FOR. The staff ended up digging up some tea bags from their kitchen--cool... But I would imagine there would be basic knowledge of what the rooms are stocked with. I think with these few fixes/considerations, it would be a much more pleasant stay.

Yelp
We arrived an hour before check in and were accommodated quickly. I believe it was the owner who was very nice and welcoming! The lobby has a very cool modern vibe with a cool bar area. Love the exposed brick and rock. Great ambience! He carried my suitcase up to our room and filled us in. Modern room, comfy bed, bottled water, coffee machine, great shower, self controlled ac. All the comforts we need! We're in the airline business and appreciate extra touches, comfort, modern style and genuinely kind staff! We

Yelp
We picked this hotel after seeing the hotel pictures online. It looked just the way I anticipated (maybe the room looked a bit smaller, but everything was the same as how they described). Hotel Epik was located in heart of Old Montreal. This hotel interior was very lovely and had a modern design. The staffs were extremely nice, friendly and helpful. Since our room was on the second floor, given that this B&B has no elevator, the hotel staff offered to carry all luggages to our room. The room itself has a very contemporary design. The mattress was very comfortable and has good support. I like how they used daylight bulbs instead of the traditional light bulbs. It makes the bathroom much more spacious and cleaner. The hotel also offered complementary Wi-Fi service and free breakfast for guests. When I was taking pictures at the hotel lobby, one of the hotel staff showed us around and told us some interesting facts about the hotel: The hotel owner had the thought of renovating the hotel. It took him a long time to find the right people and the right materials to design it to how the hotel looked now. He told us the owner has a very unqiue taste in interior design. When they demolished the interior of the hotel, they retained the old rocks and stones and used it to compose the wall for the current hotel. I like how they incorporated historical features of the old hotel to the new design. They also showed us around to the restaurant. Since we were here for a day, we did not get a chance to try in the restaurant. The hotel was 3 minutes walk from the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal and Rue St-Paul. It was 5 minutes walk from Quartier des Spectacles. There were a lot of great restaurants around this hotel. We would definitely come back to this hotel when we revisit Montreal!

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Epik! The concierge was delightful and incredibly helpful! We we arrived, she actually parked our car and brought our luggage up the two flights of stairs to our room. The room is small but cozy and clean with a comfy, plush bed. The breakfast that is included is delicious (their croissants are amazing) and the staff is happy to make you an espresso or cafe au laut. It's also in a perfect location in Montreal! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Wonderful ambiance, great location. Small-ish room but cozy bed and bedding. The staff- especially Sasha- were fabulous. Super helpful and accommodating. Two teeny complaints- room very dark even with all lights on and very noisy at night. I am a light sleeper but even though we were on the top floor we heard pretty much everything through the night including "romantic" sounds of other patrons, trash delivery outside window at 7am, patrons walking in the halls, doors opening and closing etc. However this is a quaint older building in a prime location so you cannot have it all!!!

Danny N.

Yelp
This place was apparently remodeled. Nice look and ambiance. Bit of a leak on the rain shower head but can't take a star off for that. In the middle of everything. Great choice and definitely coming back

Lulu L.

Yelp
Phenomenal place. Great location right in the city, super friendly staff, great breakfast food included, and we even stayed on the ground floor room by the bar- great soundproof- we didn't hear a thing and slept like babies! Will definitely return!

Yelp
Our first visit to Montreal and we stayed at the Epik! Loved the hotel. Small hotel with only 10 rooms. The concierge Oscar greeted us and he was fantastic. Oscar quickly helped us unload the car and the valet parked it (never needed the car our entire stay). Oscar even carried our luggage up to our room. The room was beautiful, clean and quiet! A charming little gem of a hotel in a great location. Nice large clean bathroom. Could walk to everything. Hotel staff were all fantastic! Very friendly and helpful. Ate at the restaurant and that was wonderful - again very friendly staff!! Food was great. The breakfast which is included is perfect! Includes fresh fruit and the pastries were fantastic. Michelle even made us fresh delicious cappuccino. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great location and very friendly staff! My family was staying Montreal for a night and we pulled up with a huge vehicle and 5 large suitcases. They promptly brought in our all luggage, hauled it up the stairs for us, and parked our car. Oliver couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful suggesting lunch and dinner spots. The room was very cute decorated with brick and stone, my favorite part was the multi-colored ceiling shower... amazing! You get free wi-fi and breakfast and the staff is wonderful. I'd look forward going back to Montreal just for getting to stay at Hotel Epik again.

Emily C.

Yelp
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Epik. Friendly staff, cozy room, and a great location. The concierge were helpful and hospitable. We will stay there again when we return to Old Montreal.

Yelp
Had a very nice stay here. The room was small but very cool - loved the old stone and beamed ceiling, and while the room was quite small, the bathroom was spacious. The included breakfast, served just off the lobby, was perfectly serviceable. Not the quietest night's sleep, given noise inside the hotel and construction outside, but the positives of the design and the fantastic location really compensated for this. I also found the service to be very good. I'd stay again.
