Hotel Fauchere (Milford, Pennsylvania) 7 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s often said that Pennsylvania is a microcosm of all of America — one big city on each end, and three hundred miles of farms, mountains and small towns in between. To look at the exterior of the Hotel Fauchère, in Milford, which looks straight out of American Gothic, you’d think you’d found the Platonic form of the rustic Pennsylvania farmhouse. But venture in and you’ll find a boutique hotel that’s a lot more contemporary and cosmopolitan than you’d expect, defying any concept of rural America as a somehow backwards “flyover country.”" - Tablet Hotels

Without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. As a very frequent traveler I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and quality in the place. Rooms not cleaned unless to personally ask at the front desk. Breakfast was shocking. NO coffee, overcooked scrambled eggs, limited (2) bread options . Coffee maker would not stop and sent water everywhere Temperature setting was ignored and room stayed at 63 degeees Mirror in bathroom was set for people over 6ft tall Shower was set inside a very high tub that for anyone over 70 or limited in anyway could not get in. Plugs did not have usb socket Cold water never ran cold always Luke warm

We went for brunch on Mother’s Day ,This restaurant offers a fantastic brunch experience, from the delicious and creative dishes prepared by Chef Johnny to the attentive service and cozy atmosphere. Great breakfast, lots of good choices and delicious food!my favorite meal was the salmon with dill dream sauce delicious! I highly recommend!!!

Nice enough place, service was okay. Food was way overpriced. We had the 3 course Valentines dinner and it was definitely not worth the $75 per person price. Took them an hour to give us our main course, Food portions were too small and not cooked properly. Filet mignon was dry and lobster was undercooked. Dessert looked like it was bought from the frozen aisle at Walmart. Definitely not worth the hype.

We stayed at the Hotel Fauchere for Valentines weekend to celebrate. We recently just had a baby so it was extremely nice to get away without her and relax. We booked a room with a balcony and loved it. The food downstairs was top notch. We will for sure be back.

Just had breakfast here and it was the best Hotel Breakfast I ever had. I’m a business traveler on the road half the year.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Fauchère this past Sunday night for a little weekend getaway. What a lovely hotel rich with history. Wonderfully updated and thoughtfully decorated. The service was great and our room was pretty much perfect. Our bed was a bit uncomfortable, but that's us being picky. Our room had a balcony with a fire pit which we took full advantage of despite the chilly night. We had the pleasant surprise of complimentary breakfast the next morning as well which was perfect. We would definitely stay here again when in the area!

A special valentine weekend room. Very noisy outside the room, inside and outside. The Delmonico restaurant which I thought i had reservations for, was closed. For $602.00 for the night, definitely not worth it. They show rose pedals in a picture that you pay extra for, fake lol. You can't get 2 rose's and pull the pedals apart. 👎

We were satisfied with our stay at the Hotel Fauchere. The location was great - Milford is a very cute, quaint town. The room was clean and comfortable, but the lighting and decor left something to be desired. We had our pup with us and loved that the Hotel was pet-friendly. There seemed to be a lack of staff at a few points when we were in need of service. Around 6pm on Friday evening, we decided to try the restaurant on the lower level, Bar Louis. We did not have reservations but it did seem to get busier throughout the evening, so it might be best to consider making them. Our meals were fantastic- I got the vegan au poive (pictured) and my husband got the mussels. The service and atmosphere were both well done. Overall, it was a positive experience.

Yelp
Usually I don't like to review a restaurant when the meal served is part of a group event. The menu is limited, the staff is always pressed into service for a bunch of people arriving at the same time and, at least in the crowd I travel in, is pretty demanding. With that in mind, let's say that these folks knocked it out of the park! Our hostess greeted the dozens of Ferrari Club people with a smile, juggled tables to accommodate last minute seating requests and turned the efficient staff loose on us. At our table, we had a person with serious dietary requirements - none of the pre-chosen options matched... Our waiter - sorry I did not get a name but he is a tall gent with best-in-class customer service skills - took the order and delivered the special order in the same time frame as the rest of the people at our table. Wow!! I had a chicken sandwich - crispy skin, tender white meat and fresh-cut fries and my next-seat neighbor had what he called a "grilled cheese sandwich" but it had a fancier name. He said it was the best grilled cheese he had ever had and if he came back for lunch, would order it ala carte - yup, that good. Very good service under difficult conditions, praise-worthy food all around and a beautiful place in a neat little town. Recommended for a gourmet experience in a lovely tourist area.

Yelp
Summary: Overpriced for what I got in a one night stay Positives: The staff were nice. I liked the room (suite) aesthetics. There were bathrooms. The towels were plush. The bed was comfortable. Negatives: The suite was over the bar/restaurant and beside the staff room. You could here people talking and working. The lighting in the bathroom was odd; there was no light near the shower, so you showered in the dark. The sink had a crack. The fire alarm flashed a bright light regularly. The TV had a bright white light when the TV was off. The room and lobby tea was just plain Lipton. The breakfast fruit was sliced oddly; the rind was left on the pineapple.

Yelp
My eye was drawn to this impressive structure and the marker out front. I'm not looking for a hotel at this time but I absolutely will need to return to this adorable town. The marker reads, "First established in 1852 as a summer hotel, its restaurant received widespread recognition for innovative French cuisine under the management of Louis Fauchère, master chef at New York City's famed Delmonico's Restaurant. He introduced fine ingredients, progressive recipes, and the concept of the menu. Guests have included American Presidents and Pennsylvania governors, as well as celebrated artists, writers and performers." The marker was erected in 2007 by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. There is street parking here. [Review 1715 of 2024 - 668 in Pennsylvania - 22738 overall]

Yelp
My Fauchere Igloo experience left me out in the cold. A lil background Fauchere a historical hotel of Milford, PA has a reputation of trying to raise the bar on eating out locally. Once a paid member of Relais & Châteaux (overated French franchisery) they have changed owners, & have recently revised themselves. Currently the Hotel sports two spots for eating Bar Louis & the Delmonico Room. So in letting people know a little of the history of the hotel & its restaurants, my review is about the Igloo experience. I was truly quite hopeful in returning to Faucheres dining. Knowing there are new owners & no more overrated French franchise labels, there was a sense of renewal. A promised more defined stronger menu completes the. I was looking forward to the evening. Faucheres advertises these private domes as an "Holiday Experience", complete w/décor, a giant lighted snowflake & a full Bar Louis menu to choose from. Reservations are 10$ per person for a party of 4 or more. They opened reservations on 11/24. I believed this meant they were ready for customers & this was not the case. I made my reservation for 11/27. We arrived & no one was by the igloos or in the Delmonico foyer. The concierge says we have to go downstairs & when there staff acted disturbed. There were no welcomes, just saying go back up she would meet us right outside. A different person meets us & directs us to the small record player, shows us blankets & get our drink orders. She tells us she will give 2 baskets of bread since we are 4 people.. We ask them will the holiday lights be turned on. The waitress says she will check on that. She comes back to take our soup, salad, & appetizers order. & she informs us no lights because they are not set up yet. So the right off the bat the Igloo experience they promised w/the paid reservation is not going to happen. She apologizes & sets one basket of wrapped bread onto the table w/2 very small rolls. Now we make our order 2 onion soups 14$ea, 2 sushi pizzas 24$ ea, 2 ox-tail rillettes 16$ ea. The waitress comes w/ our soups, & more apologies that there is no Sushi Pizza. So now the promised menu is not available either. We ask is there anyway we can have that extra bread & she says she forgot but she will come back with it. We get to the onion soup & we take a spoonful. It's PURE OIL, as you can see from the photo below, the soup is the brown bits & the oil is the yellow. I immediately got nauseous. Its obvious this was reheated & the cheese separated & coagulated. She sets town the ox-tail rillettes & leaves. The meat was completely hard, & had a gamey quality. Hard ox-tail meat again is a sign that its old & went rancid. At this point im not only unimpressed, I am disappointed. The experience should have been billed for horror Halloween night not the promised winter wonderland. The mains come & I have to say for these dishes everyone enjoyed them but much was left to be desired. We ordered Black Garlic Salmon, Pan Roasted Chicken, Pappardelle, Duck Breast Duo. There are no complaints here. The amount is just enough to have room for dessert . We had 2 dark chocolate mouse & a apple tarte. The cappucinos were fine. They had milk alternatives which is always a blessing. All in all I give this experience a 3 out of 5. & only a 3 because we had a lovely accommodating waitress.

Yelp
Had a brilliant time until I found they reported my reservation as a no-show. Once they correct their system, I'll be glad to revise my review.

Yelp
I was hoping for more here...like more food on the plate for the price I was paying...duck meal skimpy. The pasta special lasagna was cold and had to be sent back to heat it. The impossible burger was wanted by the vegan customer with no mayo but instead a side of avocado. The avocado came 10-15 minutes later when some of us already were finishing our meal. Overall we were disappointed and not even interested in looking at dessert.

Yelp
What a beautiful hotel and experience! Came here for just an overnight during Covid and I felt very comfortable and will definitely be returning in the future. The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive and the space was beautiful! The rooms are super chic modern, yet cozy, and capture the historyof the hotel. And the bathrooms!! Oh my gosh, possibly my favorite part of the room! The restaurant downstairs was delicious and so beautiful to sit in the garden seating and on the porch. Thank you for such a great stay!

Yelp
The outdoor porch dining was such a great surprise. The team and the food were so tasty. Such a charming place, highly recommended.

Yelp
Always a great meal in a beautiful Hotel. This in not your regular run of the mill hotel and restaurant. This place is a gem.

Yelp
Ate on the porch, dining was lovely. Very nicely lit, waitress was excellent, where this starts to take a turn was when I had the specials! I had the étouffée which was absolutely amazing, and my wife had the risotto we both thought they were absolutely phenomenal complements to whomever made them, we got our entrees and to say the least it was so underwhelming, the roast monkfish looked like it was fresh out of a microwave and my steak frites had an ice cream scoop full of butter on it. Presentation was very minimal for a "fine dining experience" but we had considered just ordering more of the specials but at this time my wife was over it and just wanted to leave. Whoever is making the specials. Please put them in charge. Sincerely, Mr. Guhrrs

Yelp
Heavily tattooed? Don't come here ! I have a feeling this is why we got such poor service ! And a real shame because it is very beautiful . Long story short : this shouldn't be labeled a four star hotel as it does not offer premier service . We have travelled extensively and stayed at many fine hotels, and were looking forward to the small but luxurious feel it appeared Hotel Fauchere offered , but could not have been more wrong ! We stayed here for the long weekend - and were nothing but disappointed in the lackluster experience . When we arrived we came in through the back door - and the concierge greets us . He is pleasant enough- despite his solicitation of a "presentation for a gift-card" tells us to put our bags down ( silly me to assume this means they'll be brought up or brought to check-in?) and go check in. We go to the check in "room"- and two young ladies are in there clicking away . Fine - no real welcome, no really exciting information , just a key a room number and a run of the credit card and another solicitation for a "gift card" . No let me tell you about the place , let me show you around - nothing. No "Our guest services check-in guests and escort them to their room, providing an informative overview of the hotel and local activities along the way. " as mentioned on your website ! Nothing "superior customer service" about any of this interaction. We go back to get our bags and head upstairs . Room is small, but pretty. But- the small things that make superior hotels superior are overlooked - lightbulb blown in one of the wall- lamps in the room , cobwebs in the light fixture in bathroom, tissues on desk empty , rusty towel rack, the curtains had almost little burn marks in them from being ironed on a too high setting - went nicely with the giant stink bug stuck to the front of the curtains . I understand we are in rural PA , but don't you check rooms before your guests arrive ? We head out for dinner and exploring , and when we arrive later we realize we are directly across from a bar that has the doors wide open and has a live band banging out 80's jams at full volume, and after that - just general screaming and music since the smoking area is directly across from our window. Not relaxing at all, and it's proximity to the hotel should be explained up front when booking, and the price should be adjusted accordingly. Second night we go downstairs for our dinner reservation in the Delmonico Room. We stand at the host station for a few minutes until the same un-enthusiastic lady from yesterday simply comes over and asks if we have a reservation. No identifying that we are guests, or even thanking us for visiting , no niceties . We are sat in the corner of an almost empty dining room (2 other tables) and then the fun starts ! The waiter comes over , asks us what we would like for drinks . Says we have specials - then begrudgingly tells us about them. When we go to order our food - I ask where something is on the menu (shows available online ) - as it was the only vegan option and my husband is vegan. I am told " we don't have that anymore " - not here's what we CAN offer , or what we CAN make. Just we don't have that . Plain and simple , he decides he will just have a salad since I am already enjoying my wine , and was looking forward to the dining experience. Food comes out at lightning speed - and then we just get rushed through dinner . Steak was fatty and not prepared well- but no room to give feedback because nobody ever asks us if we enjoyed our meals or if all was well. I have to ask for another pour of wine , and we don't get asked if we want coffee or dessert before the bill gets dumped on the table . At this point I am furious , but still leave a generous tip for the young waiter - as I don't hold his poor training against him. And we leave . Nobody checks in , thanks us , nothing . Nothing "superior" about any of this. We change and head out to get him something to eat - and hit a few shops around town . We come back- bar going full swing again for football! Don't worry though, it says it closes at 8.... except it doesn't ! Once it finally dies down we get to bed so we can head out hiking tomorrow . My husband asks me to let him just go check out , because he knows how mad I am about our poor experience ! 800 dollars for two nights of misery, and not a SHRED of customer service ! I am sorely disappointed in the lack of regard or service we received , and would not recommend a visit here to anyone at the current time . Hopefully, they will use some of this feedback to improve their attitude and vision of "fine art of hospitality".

Yelp
My family and I have eaten at the Hotel on holidays for several years and had never had a bad experience. Unfortunately, we attended the family style dinner on Thanksgiving this year, and the entire family ended up with severe food poisoning. I reached out to the Hotel via email and did not receive a response. I would definitely not recommend this place anymore!

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this place. Unfortunately, I didn't do my research to see when restaurants and town stores were open prior to my visit but the staff at this hotel made up for that. They went above and beyond to make my daughters 6th birthday the best she has ever had. Deena, Gary, and Brian and the rest of the lovely staff made us a beyond memorable experience for dinner and had a wonderful surprise in their igloos for the birthday celebration. If you are ever thinking about visiting don't think twice. We cannot wait to come back. A quick drive from our home but felt like a true vacation. We will forever be grateful for our night and memories we built here as a family. Thank you so much to the whole staff and particularly those we mentioned. You are gracious beyond measures.

Yelp
Went to the restaurant tonight and all of us were very impressed by not only the meal, but by our waiter, Noah! He went above and beyond and you can tell how much he cares about the customers. My husband went as far to say that he is the best waiter we have ever had (and we go out to eat a ton!). We will certainly be back again. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

Yelp
Thanksgiving 2022. I found out that the hotel has been purchased since I was last there by a consortium in Milford PA. What a shame, the service was almost nonexistent and it took 15 minutes for the maitre d' to even realize we were there. Finally we sat down to eat only to wait another 10 minutes for a waiter who seemed more than uninterested in the whole process . Ordered a cocktail and the fixed menu dinner - never came back to ask if we were happy, needed another drink (let alone a wine list). I really was looking forward to revisiting this hotel but, honestly, I don't think I'll be back again and while I can recommend the food, the service was awful.

Yelp
Great place to stay! Super romantic & clean hotel w updated rooms & bathrooms. Stayed here w my honey while on our rafting & biking trip. It's very close to all. The staff are friendly and attentive to your requests especially in their restaurant. Now about that, they offer a free continental breakfast when you stay. Usually continental breakfast aren't all that but Hotel Fauchere is the exception! Breakfast is phenomenal! Amazing choices & several courses, more like an amazing brunch than anything else. You will love the homemade yogurt, which they can give you the recipe for. Believe me you want it!

Yelp
This place used to be a really good hotel and it has an interesting history. However, its no longer what it used to be. The showers are spluttering water everywhere, and water is not even running from the shower-head properly. This is in their most expensive room of the house. The rugs are worn out and the lobby is cold and unwelcoming. The restaurant is closed a lot of days and many hours during the day. The food tastes frozen and reheated. Not worth the expense.
google avatar

Alison Z.

Yelp
Great place for a queer friendly and pet friendly getaway. Located right in the middle of town, walking distance to a few shops and restaurants.

Yelp
Great local place with tasty wines and the best bartender in the tri-state area - Bartender Bob! The menu changes a lot which has its ups and downs, but overall it's a great place to spend a snowy day or night or stop over for really tasty unsweetened iced tea on a hot Summers day.

Chi M.

Yelp
Have had many memorable stays here and knew the hotel would feel safe during COVID. Our room was very clean as well as other areas and appreciated staff keeping a safe distance. Everything done with grace and taste. Quality materials and attention to design and details without ostentation. We have a Tesla and with a call they will put an orange cone in one of the two charging spots before arrival. As much as we enjoy breakfast in the hotel, we are still wary. They made us to go boxes with brown paper containers and did not skimp on anything. Instead of grapefruit we got blueberries and blackberries the size of marbles. Their signature yogurt came in their glass jars. We understand that their business must be suffering at this time so truly appreciate that they have not cut back on anything that makes their hotel our favorite place to stay.

Yelp
Not a good place for vegans. The atmosphere is incredible and the French wine is mind blowing. But don't ask for anything special to order - just forget it. I asked for something vegan and they put lettuce in some broth - it was probably done on purpose lol. The bar in the basement is fun, bring your wallet. They think this is the Hamptons.

Yelp
Can I give this place 10 stars?!? From the first bite of our food we were both super impressed with the quality and service. The atmosphere and the history of this place is wonderful. The live piano playing in the main resturant is captures exactly the quintessential feel of this resturant and creates almost a magical bubble. Will deff be back !!!!

Yelp
I truly feel so-so about this hotel, but the niceness and overall willingness to serve by everyone here makes it a 4-star rather than 3-star experience. Also, after having spent a couple nights in a souped-up, overly modern, urban hotel where it's impossible to figure out how to turn on just one light, I appreciate the simplicity of this place. The light switches are where they should be, and there is no need to wait for the elevator if you're able to climb one or two flights of carpeted stairs. This feels more like a very nice bed and breakfast with more privacy. That said, though the included continental breakfast (service starting at 8) is included in the rate, no one was around at 8:30 to seat or serve anyone the two mornings I was here. This means you have to go next door to the bakery, the baked goods of which are delicious, but the line is lengthy and their Americanos are $4 diluted excuses of espresso. While I write this review, my upstairs neighbors are pounding on the ground. It seems like they are walking around with anvils strapped to their feet. It is 9pm, why won't they stop? It is not their fault I can hear them, I don't think. But this is where the line between luxury hotel and lovely bed and breakfast is crossed. A luxury hotel makes you feel at home, almost like no one else is there. Here, on a Thursday and Friday night, I can hear everyone upstairs, downstairs, and on the street (I'm on the second floor, the dog-friendly floor). My dog is the quietest creature here. The bathroom has delightfully heated floors and a heated towel bar. These things are much appreciated on a thirty degree November night. My bath towel was brand new; it was so soft, it left lint all over my face. The Kiehl's products are a nice touch, though the one thing I forgot was toothpaste, and luckily my husband had a lick leftover for me in his travel kit, because there was none to be found at the hotel. The deluxe room has a full bed, not a queen. It's not comfortable enough to want to stay in it all day, which is great because it motivated us to go hiking in cold weather. The tv is about 13" and a bit antiquated. Also a great reason to go outdoors. There is an ihome dock that supports iPhone 4, so be sure to pack a charger for any model later than that. I'd like to thank Fauchere for being so accommodating to pets. It is not easy to travel with pets, and they really have the perfect set up for people with dogs to easily access a back stairwell outside, and to enjoy a coffee or brunch on the patio and conservatory. I would love to say I will be back, if only because of the pet-friendly accommodations and decent restaurants downstairs. I specifically stayed here in search of both those things, but... I probably won't drive 9 hours roundtrip just to come here again.

Yelp
A wonderful stop for us - we've been twice now. The first time picked for location, the second because we liked it so much. The only thing I would say is that if you stay on the first floor bring earplugs or just headphones or noise reduction- the hotel is pet friendly which is great except a barking dog woke us up. Otherwise love it, rooms are beautiful and food is great. Eat out on the covered porch if the weather permits!

Ao J.

Yelp
Racial Discrimination - we are a group of Non White customers to have brunch on Sunday. Where there was a nice table outside, the host insisted us to sit inside and told us the table was reserved even though we also made the reservation. The nice table had no people sitting there until we left. The food was delicious. However, if you are non white, I suggest you to avoid.

Yelp
Very rarely does one find a location that is so ideal that it would fit perfectly in a romantic Hollywood movie from the Golden Age. Hotel Fauchere is just that. From the overwhelming hospitality of the staff to the perfect blend of both historic charm and modern comfort. It has it all. Just stopping in Milford for a quick bite and some gas turned into a 24 hour stay due to the environment promoted by Jules at the front desk and perpetuated by all of the facilities available to you as a guest. I would rather you discover them naturally as we did rather than list them so you can experience what we experienced: unending charm.

Yelp
This establishment has amazing food and staff that will top off your visit. Everything that they serve is top notch and the flavors and presentation are always consistent. The area is suffering from the last snow storm without power for 4 days and they opened up for the residents for a free hot shower. They are the true example of a top notch community based business! Keep up the good work.

Yelp
Skip the bar resturant, if you want a fine dining experience with tones of the French influences, dine at Hotel Fauchere. My wife and I after looking at various canoes and kayaks decided on a late lunch. Asking the proprietor of the Action Bikes and Outdoors for recommendations, we walking the block to Hotel Fachere. I ordered a gin and tonic along with a beet salad, hot bread and lamb ragout. Ny wife ordered shrimp cocktail (Asian spiced) and pastrami salmon. Well to say the least...the meal sitting on the porch was fanasitic! Great service, great food and a great porch view...great way to end a trip.

Raven M.

Yelp
This is strictly for the restaurant. Surprising that such a fine establishment would be so lacking in whole food plant based options. The one option is a horrible salad that is bitter and literally tastes like weeds, and maybe 1 appetizer with cheese. Really wish they would come up to speed.

Yelp
This hotel is packed with history and unexpected touches - heated towel racks, dual head marble shower, turndown service with milk & cookies, and much more. The bathroom is gorgeous! Lisa and the rest of the staff are friendly and courteous. This hotel is located in the heart of the city near everything! You feel right at home! When in the area, you must stay here!

Yelp
This hotel continues as one of my favorites in all of my travels. Whenever I'm passing through I make it a point to stay here. The hosting staff have all been consistently friendly and professional. The rooms are totally upscale. Heated stone floors, hot water heated towel racks, robes in the closet, really comfortable beds, tall windows, clean all around. The chairs in the front office and the back reading area are super cool. I love their style here. The breakfast is top B&B quality. The fresh, homemade vanilla yogurt and granola is memorable. They're doing a great job keeping up the long standing reputation for excellence in every aspect of accommodations.

Yelp
I have been wanting to stay here for years and I finally got my wish. It is a wonderful hotel in a rural area where you would not expect such a fine hotel. It's clean and decorated tastefully. The room is spacious and features an upgraded glass shower with marble sink top and trim. Hardwood floors and warm area rug. The coffee machine is a Nespresso and the bottled water comes in a GLASS bottle! Very cozy linens, I had a great night sleep. We ate breakfast today and it was fabulous -- fluffy blueberry pancakes and a lobster omelette! Fresh strong coffee and great service. I highly recommend the Hotel Fauchere- they get all right. One other note, there is a bar next-door, called the Jive bar. It is a fun club with live music and friendly bartenders, and it was open late unlike some of the other places in town.

L F.

Yelp
Have stayed at this property several times over the past six years....two nights this past week. Very pet friendly - important to me. Lisa, at reception, is awesome. She exudes service, warmth, and welcome - went out of her way to insure my pet and I had a relaxing dinner in the garden after we had survived a very long day of travel. The room was ok - bed a bit too firm for my preference. Also, in need of a little fridge or easier access to ice. A small TV (my iPad screen seems larger) made it almost impossible to see from the bed. I would recommend this property as the price makes up for some of the deficiencies.

Yelp
Was looking forward to a nice lunch here but ended up waiting for more than 30 mins without any update watching people who came in after us get their food first. Turns out there was an issue with the printer in the kitchen but we had to ask before that was discovered. It was not busy so I'm not sure why our server wasn't aware it was taking so long. Same thing waiting for the check. No server to be seen for at least 15 mins after we were done eating. Disappointing.

I booked Hotel Fauchere without having any knowledge of the surrounding area, town, or even the hotel itself. Yet, between my booking and stay (this past weekend), I ran into more people that told me about the quaint town of Milford and the awesome Hotel Fauchere. After experiencing the upscale, but home-style service of the Fauchere, the repuation stacks up. The rooms are a modern rustic and the bathrooms are fit for a five-star luxury hotel. The staff is incredibly nice with the quirkiness you would expect in a small town. While Milford can be experienced in a day, the surrounding area is full of interesting hikes and waterfalls. I would definitely recommend this hotel and the town for an intimate getaway weekend.

Yelp
The take out food could use some help. Ordered a medium rare and a medium well burger. When opening later both were medium rare, not that they were labeled as such so we had to cut open each to see which was which. Buy a sharpie and label each container. My wife had to cook hers to the desired medium well. Also, no condiments in bag. No ketchup, mayonnaise, or napkins. If your charging the same for eat-in or eat-out why is your service different? A few nights before we tried to place an order but each phone call was greeted by an answering machine that just put you in a loop to nowhere. When we finally did get through you guessed it 'sorry the kitchen just closed'. Other than the poor service the burgers are excellent. So 3 stars for them and 0 stars for the service.

Yelp
A real gem in Milford PA. Have stayed here numerous times, most recently in the summer of 2016. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Tastefully decorated hotel with beautiful wood flooring befitting its restoration. Delicious meals served at the restaurant and a nice bar downstairs. A very nice staff as well.

Yelp
The Emperor's New Clothes - Psssst - he's naked! The poor very young lady who greeted us at the desk also had to haul up our weekend and shopping bags up a steep flight of stairs. I offered to carry my own bags but was told it was not permitted. It was sort of pathetic watching this pretty young lady lugging up 3 suit cases and several shopping bags. It's the rules, I was told a second time. I was shocked at how tiny the rooms were and that they had little tiny closets and no dressers at all. NO dressers! What is that about at these prices? $350.00 per night - 2 night minimum and the hotel had hardly any guests in it to begin with! They should be happy anyone would want to stay one night! Our DELUXE room over looked the back parking lot, which they call the garden. The bed was comfortable but oddly enough the blanket was only for 1 person. The bed came with 2 blankets, one for me and one for my mate. When I asked for a larger blanket so we could get under the blanket together I was told that the hotel only stocked European blankets! Now I've been to Europe a number of times and never had a small blanket that I couldn't share with my mate, but the manager told me that was what they do. I think the manager considers Scranton European. Also, there is no top sheet on the bed. NO TOP SHEETS? That's too strange. You actually have to sleep with just the slim down blanket so don't get too warm or too frisky! There was no heat in my room so they moved me to another room down the hall that had a leak in the ceiling. They did compensate with a bottle of wine, so I had no sheets, a small blanket, no dresser and a bottle of wine. The wall sconce on my side of the bed fell off the wall when I turned it off but by the time that happened we knew we were in for a ride and just laughed at how expensive this broken down palace was and we made a weekend of it. Oh, and the bathtub is something else too. Its very cool looking, marble and narrow with a cheap plastic curtain that wraps around your body as the spray picks up and it is impossible to get to the soaps or shampoo because you're actually taking a shower wrapped in the shower curtain. You have to experience this to believe it. A romantic weekend? No, just a lot of attitude with nothing to back it up. The town is lovely, that is true but I could sit any where and have a cup of coffee and breakfast - which is not included in the price of the hotel to begin with unless of course yogurt and vanilla beans satisfy you.

Yelp
Terrific value and charm in the Poconos! From the heated bathroom floors and towel racks and pet friendly accommodations, to their willingness to go out of the way to be helpful and kind to guests. This place will always stay on my list of best places to plan a weekend getaway for, if you live in the Tri-state, Mid-Atlantic or lower New England, give Hotel Fauchere a look. The food is also really good.

Yelp
Because my boyfriend and I had just spent a night surrounded by mirrors in the weirdest hotel on the face of the planet, Hotel Fauchere was a heaven-sent beacon to us. Regardless of this comparison, however, this hotel was lovely, charming, beautiful, and perfectly relaxing. It is located on a beautiful old-school main-ish street, with a postcard-y view of the mountains as the backdrop. Gorgeous. The hotel itself looks like a stately private residence with wooden rocking chairs relaxing on its wraparound porch. Beautiful. Once inside, they do not have a typical reception area but a sitting room in which to check-in, they then showed us to our room personally, answered all my questions about the history of the hotel, and made sure we were set with dinner reservations for the evening. We learned that the history of the hotel is closely intertwined with that of its restaurant and flourished because of its close relationship with the Delmonico, one of the most famous NYC restaurants in American history. I loved every second of that. Our superior room was simultaneously plush and understated, the bed was a cloud of down and Italian linens, the bathroom floor was warm with radiant heat, and the shower was luxuriously excessive with several shower heads. At sunset, we sat on the rocking chairs the front porch and enjoyed a couple cocktails before heading down to the ground level of the hotel for dinner. After a great meal, we floated back up to our room, satiated and starry-eyed. If ever you find yourself in or around Milford, I highly recommend that you enjoy an evening here.

Yelp
i love the Fauchere. My husband (then boyfriend) made a point of taking a long weekend out to Milford from Brooklyn specifically because it was a lovely looking inn and they allowed dogs. So off we went with our Boston Terrier in tow. From the first greeting, Isabelle the General Manager and her staff treated us as if we had been regular guests for years. They had prepared a gift basket for our dog and surprised us with a nice plate of macaroons in our guest room. The inn itself has a great feeling of warmth and nostalgia but, is thoughtfully updated to feel accommodating for modern tastes. You'll find yourself quite happy to roam around the well appointed public spaces and restaurants all day. The food was also outstanding - from the interesting tasting menu in the main dining room. To the fresh, well-prepared continental breakfast. Barely a complaint could be made. We enjoyed the weekend so much and felt so comfortable that we decided to get married at the Fauchere. Needless to say, that weekend was even better.

Yelp
What a place! It's only 90 minutes from NYC in the Delaware Water Gap. This hotel was supposedly a hoppin' place way back in the day, and it's been totally renovated with fantastic results! We were surprised that with an older looking building, the rooms would have luxuries like an iPod station, wireless, flat-screen TV and warmed floors (whatever that's called). The food in the restaurant is top-notch! I had the rockfish, and my partner had the ribeye. My only complaint was my stomach was too small. Well, there was room for dessert but barely. Who can resist poached pear? If you're picky about coffee, have it here. As a west coaster, this is right up there with Peet's, maybe even a bit nicer. Then we waddled downstairs to have a drink in the Bar Louie, in the cellar. Looks like someone dropped a New York hip bar in the middle of the woods! Holy crap, a huge photo of Andy Warhal kissing John Lennon! It ain't a budget hotel, but if you want a peaceful getaway in one of those picturesque small towns you see in movies, AND you want to treat yourself, this is the place. Very peaceful...

Yelp
I had my small, intimate(read 16 people including the groom and myself) wedding here and I wish I could relive it again. Everything was perfect. The attention to detail was immaculate. The staff, including, but not limited to Hillary Needdleman, her husband Robert(who was our officiant), Kelly-Jo, and our two main servers(whose names escape me at the moment) were all wonderful. Hillary helped me with executing my vision, going so far as to bring in her own silver candlesticks to help me achieve the perfect, candlelit evening. She and Kelly-Jo were very helpful in securing the specific wines and beers we had requested and also hosting a wonderful wine tasting for my husband and myself. Everything was perfect! I hope to return soon.

Yelp
I did not stay at the hotel but I did dine there and I will say , although the waitstaff was attentive, the dinner left much to be desired. The room was rented for a small party of 20 . The hotel should have had some round tables instead of one long one to accommodate everyone. The meal , a choice of prime rib or halibut, was presented a little too cool and everyone concurred ,they were too embarrassed in fear of hurting the host's feeling. Although one guest sent it back to at least heat up thee baked potato and asparagus, it came back still chilled enough that the butter would not melt on the potato and the asparagus was still cool as was the halibut. I would suggest trying a different restaurant in charming Milford .

Yelp
The MOST charming (and historic) hotel in the area. Beautiful decor and ambiance. We had brunch outside on the porch . Guitarist, people walking, street shoppers..quaint . The meal was amazing!!! All fresh ingredients. I hade the egg white kale ricotta omelet with a homemade scone and homemade blueberry compote. All baked items are done on premises. I can't wait to go back to try dinner!!

Yelp
Went to a post-wedding brunch celebration and I came away heartsick for the hosts. The brunch was called for 11:00, and we got there on time, yet all of the food was freezing cold - it was as if it had been prepared in advance and gone right from the refrigerator to the buffet without heating. Muffins and scones were definitely day-old and stale. Coffee not made, dishes in the stack for the buffet dirty and wet. Certainly not Relais and Chateaux standards. DO NOT HOLD AN EVENT HERE! I hope the hosts demanded some compensation!

Yelp
Mice....Yikes!!! Had a mouse walk across my face in the middle of the night. Was told by Night Manager that I would be comped for that night but Owner decided 15% discount off of room charge was enough. Seriously!!! Would rather have bed bugs in a dump than stay there again!
