I would like to start off saying the location is great. Everything is within walking distance. The service though, is not so great. When my boyfriend and I went to check in we had paid online through a third party already but the hotel ended up charging us double. I had told them we had booked a reservation online and they asked for my name and said they found my reservation. They asked for my credit card and ID which I assumed was for the resort fee that my third party booking had told me about. When I checked my credit card statement though, they ended up charging me over 500$ when I had already paid around 350$. When I called they had told me they couldn’t see the online reservation I booked. How did they find my reservation when I checked in then? I talked to the manager and forwarded my confirmation email from the online booking and she let me know the reservation was actually under my boyfriend’s name. So basically we paid for two rooms and only stayed in one. I don’t understand how the front desk was able to find MY name when the reservation was under his name the entire time. Now I have to call the website that I originally booked the hotel under to try and get a refund with no help from the hotel itself. The manager was nice but basically said she couldn’t do anything to help me. Just be careful if you book through third party and double check how much they charge you upon check in.

Pretty solid hotel. A bit bare bones. The queen bed room did not have a mini fridge which was really inconvenient. Rooms were small and there weren’t many amenities. However everything was clean, it was modern, and the bed was decently comfortable. Three elevators was nice. They don’t accommodate room requests very well, so don’t expect them to give you a view if you ask for it. The location is perfect for visiting the whole city and the price was good for a last minute booking. Definitely not the best value in town but it’s also not a bad hotel and I would stay here again if given the chance.

Google
We have had a lovely stay at the Hotel Felix. From the very warm welcome we received from Joseph at front desk upon arriving, to his assigning us to a very comfortable and well-appointed room—to the delicious cappuccino he made us in the morning—we have felt so incredibly well cared for during our stay. Hotel Felix is fortunate to have such a thoughtful, conscientious, and personable member of their staff. I would definitely recommend the hotel to friends visiting Chicago in the future and would absolutely stay here again. The hotel is comfortable, affordable, and centrally located and the staff, Joseph in particular, have been wonderful.

Google
A little small for 2 but husband Ron loves the location and the service is outstanding. On our way back from dinner we stopped at the hotel and was given excellent service from Veronica. She was personable quite pleasant and if we weren't so tired would have stayed longer. Definitely would return.

Google
Absolutely fantastic hotel! Perfectly located close to everything around the city, it offers clean and comfortable rooms. The highlight of our stay was definitely the staff at the front desk. Stephanie was exceptional; she assisted us with everything we needed and was incredibly friendly, lovely, and hardworking. Despite her shift ending 30 minutes prior, she took care of our group with various issues without any hesitation. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

Google
Rigel was a fantastic front desk agent. Very quick and detailed check-in. The rooms were very comfortable but they do need a bit of an upgrade, but they were okay overall. A fridge would’ve been fantastic for our stay but they let us store food if needed. There was no free parking, but we got cheap parking with the recommended website at the front desk. We will come back next time for the great service.

Google
Visiting family from out of town and stayed at the Hotel Felix. Great value but more than that a great location! Free coffee and great fruit in the morning was more than enough for our breakfast. Bar in lobby was comfortable and well stocked. Felt like home away from home! Thanks Veronica for the great customer service. The staff is OUTSTANDING!

Google
Room was clean. Bed was comfy to sleep on but bottom frame stuck out too far and served as a middle of the night shin bumping hazzard. Air was stuffy as very little air conditioning output and only ran on low. Had ample hot water. Bathroom setup less than ideal as nowhere to place toiletries, curling iron, etc.

Jane L.

Yelp
Great location, very convenient for touring around the city. Near the red and brown train lines. Room was adequate, no amenities, but no issues. The hotel has free WiFi and can store your bags before check in or after check out. In the morning, they have coffee and fruit.

Yelp
This hotel is terrible. From the moment we walked into the door, the young lady did not greet us. She looked at us square in the face until I finally said "hello ma'am I'd like to check in"..... it was late so maybe she was just tired? Moving on, she did a quick rundown about a $75 dollar incidental fee that my husband would only get about $25 back since we booked through a third party. Annoying but whatever, we didn't trip off of that. Walking to the elevators, I started to see what kind of situation this was about to be. The elevators were so small I thought I was in Paris. We couldn't even get ourselves and the suitcases in. Once we got off on our floor, the stench coming from the old moldy carpet was ferocious. The room was so small and smelly, it looked like a refurbished hospital. There was hair in the shower head (like ick), dead bugs on the window with the view of a brick wall. It's summer time & the AC was broken. It's just dirty, and for the price they offer nothing complementary. If you're thinking about doing it..... don't waste your money.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
This cute little Chicago Boutique Hotel was Perfect for our Getaway! Coffee and Tea in the morning as well as fresh fruit. It is a small walk to Michigan Ave and the Riverwalk!!! Pet Friendly!!! Only down side is that the AC ventilation system was extremely Loud so please work on that!!!!

Brooke M.

Yelp
This was a great affordable place to stay in Chicago! Great location and the staff were super nice and accommodating.

Terri P.

Yelp
We are regular travelers to Chicago since our daughter has lived here for 10 years, so we have stayed in LOTS of downtown hotels. I would give Hotel Felix 2 stars because it's "just ok". No parking garage- No valet - teeny elevators (the luggage cart barely fits). But the biggest reason for only 2 stars is the room. We paid for a King, bed was ok, very little bedding so we could've used an extra blanket or something. No mini refrigerator. The "closet" was a very teeny niche in the wall that had a curtain to pull to hide it. The size of the room was extremely small with barely enough room to walk behind the chair to "desk/ tv" spot? without hitting your knee/ shin on bed. Which brings me to point #1 of my review: The bed has a wooden bed frame (yes wooden) that protrudes out 3-4" from the bed, especially at the corners (see pic). Again, with no room to navigate around the bed that makes it almost impossible to not run your knee/shin into it (which we both did a few times over our 2 night stay!). Point #2: Vanity in bath- oh wait... there isn't a vanity in the bath. They chose to put a small pedestal sink in the bathroom. There is ZERO counter/ vanity space. Zero. See pic of the sink. In addition to no vanity/counter space, they chose a sink that is literally less than 4" deep - so even brushing your teeth is difficult. The ridiculous part of this... As you can see in the pic, there is enough room for at least a 30" cabinet, possibly 36" that would give their guests ample room for toiletries, etc. I will not be staying at Felix Hotel in the future.

Rebecca E.

Yelp
Surpassed my low expectations after reading these trash reviews. Addressing negative reviews about the room size. It's not about the size, it's about what you do with what you got! Hehe. Yes the room is small but we fit 4 people each with a carry-on bag and we were fine. Keep in mind, we only used our room to sleep, and spent most of our day exploring the biggo city. To address the negative reviews about cleanliness... The front desk explained that house keeping will only clean your room IF YOU REQUEST. PRO TIP - Ask for housekeeping the NIGHT BEFORE. The front desk will say to ask day-of, but we did ask and they didn't have time to get to our room because we were too late when we asked at 10 AM. My favorite part of the hotel is the cozy lobby with great WiFi, coffee/tea in the morning and comfortable seating. As a traveling content creator these are all extremely important to me. Will I return? God willing, yes I shall.

Yelp
Was in town for business, which also happened to be St. Paddy's day weekend. Ended up staying at Hotel Felix located right in the middle of downtown Chicago. I was actually staying by the airport, but decided to check out all the festivities that weekend. I selected Hotel Felix for its location, quality and not so outrageous but still expensive pricing. I did not regret it. I was greeted by a pleasant front desk attendant, Kseniia. She was very professional, pleasant, and knows how to make guests feel welcomed and taken care of. It looked like the hotel was pretty busy, but she did a great job checking me in and got me a room with a great view. Rooms were very clean, well kept and high quality. Only thing lacking in this hotel was a good bar area. The lobby is stylish and cozy, however the bar area reminds me more of a small apartment kitchen counter than an actual bar. Wasn't that big a deal since the area has a ton of bars and restaurants at walking distance. Otherwise everything else at the hotel was top notch. However, it's the great customer service that makes all the difference, especially if it starts at the front desk. Kseniia is awesome. Overall a good experience. I highly recommend Hotel Felix.

Natasha L.

Yelp
I can only say great things about this location. Staff is pleasant, warm and professional. Gave me an early check-in. Made sure my room was perfectly clean as they have a new reservation system that has some quirks! On the second day it rained heavy...the adorable young woman from the front desk made me a trash bag poncho!!! This location has a wonderful staff and the location is right in the mix of great food.

Yelp
Update: August 06, 2023. Stay away from this place. They NEVER mentioned that they will charge "FEES" after you check out! They ask you for a "DEPOSIT" then when you check out they say there will be a "fee" charge! They are charging taxes and city fees and some other "fees" per day! When I asked why? They only replied "WE MENTIONED IT TO EVERY GUEST AT CHECK IN" "HAVE A GREAT DAY" if you want to spend another $20 - $30 dlls every day in "FEES" be my guest! I would not stay in this hotel anymore! Plus windows are so thin that I could hear people and cars passing every night from the 6th floor. Water in the lobby is not "infused" it's just water from the faucet! Water has a very strong pipe flavor! Stay away from this place!

Lenne H.

Yelp
This is the worst hotel in Chicago, in one day they charged my card eight times for $75. Then I asked what was going on, and the guest person said I had to wait to speak to a manager. The manager hasn't gotten back to me and I don't know when I'm going to get my money back. This has been the worst hotel experience ever! I have stayed at hundreds of hotels and never had a hotel go card crazy. If you go here despite what I'm saying, your rich cause you can afford to throw away money.

Jay P.

Yelp
Room was not that clean but they were friendly at the front desk and eager to address issues (window broke when I tried to open it and they immediately jumped on fixing the issue). But the reason I had decided upon Hotel Felix was because of their "Best Rate Guarantee" - which states if you book a room directly with the hotel but then find a lower price somewhere else like another website that they'll price match it. Just email them after with a screenshot of the the competitor website showing the price etc. Sounds great right? Don't buy it. Because ladies and gents, that's exactly what I did. My emails were ignored. Cut to, nearly 6 months later and a complaint to the Illinois attorney general for unfair business practices (false advertising ahem) and only then, only after I filed a complaint to the IL ATTORNEY GENERAL did this hotel deign to respond and provide the promised refund. So, don't bother.

Yelp
I'm sure a lot of the poor reviews are for good reason, things happen, but this hotel really doesn't have glaring issues. They told us up front that if we want our room cleaned we need to request it. We got our own towels and took out a bag of trash on our own. We survived somehow. Don't stay at a boutique hotel if it's not your style. Yeah the room was small, the bathroom was cramped for 2 people. Again, we survived somehow. We adored being so close to the trains and the beautiful downtown and river walk. Could have spent double and not been as central. (booked through booking.com and got a better deal than if we went directly through the hotel) One tip, request a room further away from the elevator. The bell is a bit loud. If we were closer than 2 rooms away it probably would have bothered us. I'd stay here again, I probably wouldn't bring my uppity grandma though. Haha.

Logan P.

Yelp
During my stay at the hotel, Rigel made it such delight. He made my wife and I coffees various and knew it the way we liked it. The location was fantastic and we even got to try the chicago staple, Portillos. A great recommendation from Sarah.

Majestic J.

Yelp
DO NOT BOOK HERE !! trust the bad reviews the rooms are not worth the price, they are extremely small no room to do literally anything, the air conditioner is too loud to even keep on, and the staff have snobby attitudes for no reason! SERIOUSLY SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSE WHERE

Heather J.

Yelp
This is my new home away from home! Beautiful and calm lobby with lavazza coffee and fresh fruit in the AM. A lovely fireplace and chill bar area made for a warm welcome. The room was so quiet, clean and comfortable with an oversized shower and fresh scented linens. The convenience of location was excellent offering many businesses within walking distance. Thanks to Kylie Lebron for a smooth check in, lively choice in room and welcoming energy!

Quinne B.

Yelp
What a mess! There was old hair in our shower. There was a sticky spot on the carpet next to the bed. What a bummer. Yuck.

Danny S.

Yelp
Oh my God. Forget it. You either pay more at the hotel or pay less when you find them online but then when you check in if you've purchased your reservation through a third party they then make you pay a $22 hotel fee that they say covers water and Wi-Fi. Oh my God what a scam. Like they're nickel and diming you to death. Or they're punishing you for booking with a third party. How horrible!

Maximus N.

Yelp
Rigel made my check in pleasant and detailed about all the amenities the hotel offers, he offered water bottles as well. He was able to give me a high room and the view was great just as I requested. The restaurant Avec was to die and it was just around the corner!

Tonya C.

Yelp
I booked a king-size room at the hotel Felix for my 30th wedding anniversary. When I got to the room, I noticed that the bed was a queen size bed and not a king-size bed. I went to the lobby and asked the staff if there was a mistake in my room because the bed was clearly a queen size bed and much smaller than a king-size bed I have at home. The front desk staff was very rude and told me that I did have a king bed and their system said I had a king bed and I must have a different size bed at my house. I asked them to refund me the difference between a king-size room and a queen size room, and they refused, insisting that my room had a king-size bed. The hotel has no real amenities other than a good location in River North. There was no vending machine to get water, and there was no restaurant in the hotel. The "bar," which was more like a closet, was only open a few hours a day. In the morning you can get coffee or tea only from 6:00 to 10:00 a.m. the hotel advertised infused water in the lobby. However, we did not find any water in the hotel the whole 3 days that we stayed there. Also, they let me know upon check-in that because I will be staying for 3 days, they would not be cleaning my room. With that being said, they did not have sufficient Linens towels or washcloths for a 3-day stay. The closet was a cubbyhole with a curtain that did not have space to hang any garments. We were given a miniature size bar of soap, a miniature size shampoo conditioner, and body wash for two people for 3 days. This hotel charged me over $800, had no amenities, refused to clean my room, had no complimentary anything, and the staff was rude. The floors where the rooms look very old and unkept. I'm very disappointed in my stay at this hotel and would never stay here again nor recommend that anyone else stay there unless you're into pain a lot of money for no good reason. It is super disappointing that in my reservation I let them know I was celebrating my 30th wedding anniversary and this was a treatment that I received.

Gabe A.

Yelp
This hotel is a hotel of excuses. Everything you bring to the attention of the staff is followed by excuse after excuse about why they didn't do something or can't do something. Not even an apology follows. This is another establishment that has staff that feels we should thank them for staying here and be honored to spend our money with them. The rooms are extremely small, housekeeping is nearly nonexistent, and parking is extinct. The elevator reeks of marijuana and their cordless room phones don't even work. I will be sure to stay anywhere but Hotel Felix the next time I am in the Windy City.

Maeji B.

Yelp
Stayed here for the Taylor Swift concert. Room was a good size for two of us. It definitely was on the smaller side but was clean and comfortable. It is in a great central location, and we were able to walk to most restaurants/places in the area. They had coffee and tea in lobby in the morning which was covered by the $18 resort fee. Only downsides are no parking and no breakfast.

Misty L.

Yelp
Originally, I booked this hotel because it was listed as being sustainable. While it does seem like they are trying to use less energy, it's clearly to save the hotel money and not because they are concerned about the environment. They do all the sustainable tactics that lower their costs, no regular laundry, fruit and coffee only for breakfast, TVs which hardly work (casting was the only way to watch anything and every time I cast my phone it would disconnect after 15 min), none of our reusable dispensers had a drop of soap in them, and one hidden microwave for the entire hotel. The coffee bar was full of plastic products. They were not shy on using plastic cups or giving out plastic water bottles and they were distributing Epoch Times at the front desk. A little conspiracy theory to help the greenwashing and trickery go down. It was clean, the hot water was plentiful, and the location was swell, very walkable.

Kat R.

Yelp
Horrible experience. Rooms are teeeeny tiny. Lobby and elevators smell like weed. People across the hall had a yippy dog that literally barked all night long. Complained to the front desk amd they explained that they are 'dog friendly' and there's nothing they can do. At 2:30am finally asked security to do a wellness check and apparently the people weren't there. They offered us a new room but it was 2:30am and we didn't want to pack up and move. Just horrible. Would NOT recommend. Lots of other hotels nearby to choose from.

Joseph R.

Yelp
Stay away from Hotel Felix if there's anything you do right in Chicago. The hotel claims to be a 3.5 Star hotel when it's most definitely pretending to be and is not. The hotel is dirty, outdated and lacking in so many areas. I was charged a $18 per night economy fee upon check in. You are also charged per night if you bring a car. Nothing was every clean.. garbages in the lobby and outside of the hotel overflowing. Elevators smelled of weed all of the time. No real bar or restaurant in the hotel other than the counter in the corner of the lobby which they claim is a bar. In the room there was no real closet, no fridge, not enough towels. I had to flag a cleaning lady down in the hallway to get sheets changed and garbages emptied after calling the desk multiple times with no answer. Walls are paper thin. All of the furniture in the room was chipped, stained or outdated. I would never come back to this hotel even if you paid me.

Debbie S.

Yelp
It's been 2 weeks since my 2 day stay and I'm still waiting for $75 of the extra $1174.00 in unauthorized charges to be credited to my account! I've never had a hotel screw up charges and a reservation so badly as this place did- do not stay here-not worth the aggravation-rooms are small and not even coffee in room!

Mary B.

Yelp
My daughter & I just stayed at Hotel Felix 2 days ago and words cannot express the kind of service we received from the staff at this hotel. Utter service! After a long flight from California, we arrived to a very clean air conditioned room! The beds were so comfortable, the locations was close to everything! The 2 night I asked for a fridge and sure enough, they brought one up to my room at no extra charge! Towels, toilet paper, shampoo... WOULD Recommend this place again. I really don't know why there isn't more positive reviews for this hotel!

Alexia H.

Yelp
2/5 stars for a variety of reasons. Difficult to even park and unload your luggage for check in due to the location. Specifically booked this location based on "parking available" being listed however this clearly only meant "parking available within the city of Chicago... somewhere." When you ask, you're handed a piece of paper with a QR for spot hero. Street parking is only available for a max of two hours and we needed four days, meaning we spent an additional ~$250 to park a 15 minute walk from the hotel as it was the closest availability. A large additional urban tax and incidental fee is included for the facilities that we didn't even use or attempt to access, nor we were even advised what was available - I was told this fee would be refunded, and it wasn't. On the bright side, the location is in a very walkable area. Close to good restaurants, good sights, the L and in a good area for late night food delivery. They are an eco hotel, so you have to request a mini fridge which we did end up receiving. The phone didn't work in our room. They also acted extremely incredulous when I advised them of my allergy to the down feather pillows and had to ask three days in a row for replacement pillows, leaving me with an allergic reaction on my skin and respiratory issues despite my attempt to sleep on clothing piles instead of directly on the pillows. I called the front desk and was advised we'd be on the list for housekeeping the next day as they ran out of pillows, the next morning attended the desk to confirm and we were not on the list and after being added, we still didn't get housekeeping services or pillows and had to call again to advise them. The rooms are extremely small for what you pay,, that said we only needed the room for a place to sleep so it was fine in that regard, however it was seemingly old and the bathroom was not very clean. You are not provided with the best toiletry options and our shower head was broken and couldn't be moved and sprayed water everywhere. Overall, wouldn't recommend or stay here again. Staff did not make any attempt to be friendly.

Jason S.

Yelp
The hotel is quaint but it really doesn't have much to offer. Small rooms with no housekeeping service whatsoever. Cleanliness is just okay. There are other boutique hotels in the area that I would recommend trying instead of this hotel. I'll never be back.

Steven R.

Yelp
If you want to be over charged for an extremely mediocre place this is for you!!! From the get go I had multiple issues with my room and had to visit the front desk 3 times because the phone in my room doesn't work!!! There is no parking so they suggest you park in the parking garage across the steeet that homeless people live in and shit in the stairwells...I checked into no refrigerator, really? The cheapest hotel have refrigerators, to add there are only ice machines on even floors so yeah thats convient...I get to my room and it's a shoebox and nothing works TV, Phone and windows!!! What the hell are we paying for in this hotel? This place is horrible and needs some attention

Kaitlyn G.

Yelp
We stayed here over Labor Day weekend, the location of the hotel is very nice it's in a safe part of town and we were within walking distance of almost everything we wanted to do. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable however there were some broken lamps in the rooms + other damages I was worried about being put on us. The only reason I would not recommend this place is because of their booking system. I used my debit hard to hold the reservation and planned to switch it to my new credit card when we got there only to see they charged me for the stay before we even arrived. When I got there and switched the cards I continued to have fees and other charges placed on the wrong card and had to get it fixed multiple times. On my credit card I also have three separate holds for the entire stay that I am assuming/hoping will fall off which I assume they will but it added stress onto our stay. In total it is $2300 on our credit cards which is completely unacceptable and I feel that they continuously confused which card was which was led to several hundreds of dollars being charged on each of the cards and will not be fixed until after Labor Day weekend which is inconvenient to say the least. Luckily I came with enough funds to support this and be able to enjoy my trip even with that but my concern is for someone who only had a certain amount of funds having their whole stay ruined because of similar card issues such as this. Other than that it is a nice hotel and the front desk workers are very nice, but that issue was to glaring to ignore and could have messed up our entire trip to Chicago.

B K.

Yelp
Beware: no parking, adds $18 resort fee, shower is so poorly designed water will be all over your bathroom.

Catherine L.

Yelp
Clean room, friendly staff. It was quiet and convenient. Walkable to many great places to eat and shop.

Allen L.

Yelp
Staff are 5star & good at service. They seem happy to help & will give you water bottles each time ya ask. The luggage storage option is excellent, so 5 stars, too. The coffee was one of the best cups of coffee I've had at a hotel, and I've stayed at hundreds over the past 30 years. The ground floor lounge space is comfortable & inviting. The only reason I can't give the place 5 stars has nothing to do with small rooms or many other people's complaints--it has to do with the fact our toilet seat wasn't connected much, the toilet wasn't seated properly & rocked, and the shower curtain essentially caused the water to channel out of our shower and flooded the bathroom after both of us had showered. These weren't terrible issues, but detracted from our otherwise quite enjoyable visit.

Yelp
Stayed here in November and I had an excellent stay. Despite the mix reviews, I took a chance and got a sweet deal from Hotwire for $93 a night. The location was perfect. Lots of bars, restaurants and shopping close by. It's also convenient to reach via subway. 50 minutes from O'Hare and there were about 3 stations within a 10 minute walk to the hotel. I arrived very early and my room wasn't ready. The agent was kind enough to offer to store my bags and return around 3 or 4pm. In addition, she also assigned me the first available "bigger rooms" which I was not aware of but hey, sign me up! I forgot which floor they put me on but it had nice view of the city. The queen bed was also comfy with fresh linens. Room featured sitting area with built in writing desk, TV, safe and modern bath (no tub) with toiletries. FYI, room only had a small hanging closet and no coffee maker but I didn't mind cause I was only there for 3 days and there's also a decent coffee shop on the 1st floor that's connected to the lobby. Another bonus was the restaurant called Troquet which also can be accessed via lobby. I reviewed it several days ago. I agree with some of the reviews. The rooms are tiny but it was suitable for my solo trip. The centralized location also hit high marks. I walked everywhere and discovered some of Chicago's popular restaurants were just about a few blocks away including the beloved Lou Malnati's. Love me some deep dish :) I will definitely consider staying here again.

Yelp
Don't stay at this hotel if you're looking for a unique boutique hotel experience. Extremely rude staff, especially the manager Alex. From the initial checking into the hotel, the customer service was awful. Rooms smelled like pure weed and cigarettes. Don't stay in any room that's near the elevator because you won't get any sleep at night. The air conditioning system is also quite awful and it constantly makes noise throughout the night. Horrible experience so much so, I'll be seeking legal action against this hotel. Don't stay at this property. Seek other accommodations. Truly one of the worst staff in any hotel I've ever stayed in. Best part about it is walking out of the hotel and exploring the city.

Yelp
So For Starters I Was Given a Queen Room Which is The Same Price as a King Room? I took screenshots to prove what i was saying and was still told it would be a $20 up charge to change the room and this was before i even arrived here. I get here and they don't have parking and we aren't allowed to park on the street over night so i had to find a garage down the steet and pay almost $40 more dollars out of my pocket. Then they charged me another $100 on my card when i arrived on top of all the money i paid prior to arriving. Now they get me into my room and it's the size of a closet literally. No space at all. Bathroom right next to the head of the bed. And the bathroom was half cleaned and i had to come in with my own products and clean it myself, I Saw all of the other bad reviews of this place and figured since they won't refund me let me go anyways and get my moneys worth, but over all this was not worth the money this hotel shouldn't be over 1 star. I am also righting the better business bureau to let them know the scam they are running here! PLEASE PLEASE SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND DONT BOOK HERE! This review will be left on all other platforms as well

Yelp
Upon checking in, staff members at the front desk did not provide the list of amenities that Hotel Felix offers. It wasn't until the third day of our stay when we looked at Hotel Felix's website that we realized there were certain things offered that were not explained to us upon arrival. According to Hotel Felix's website, a daily urban fee of $12 was added to our reservation. This urban fee covered amenities such as morning coffee, bottled water, and access to wifi. What is perplexing is that we paid for these amenities and never received these amenities. In addition, during our second day, room service asked if we needed service for the day while we were leaving our room. According to Hotel Felix, room service is not an added paid service. Why would room service ask us this? It was unprofessional and the tone that the woman used seemed like she was annoyed. When we returned to our room, the bed was not properly done, our garbage was not emptied, ice bucket was not emptied, and tissue and toilet paper was not replenished. When we realized this, management was contacted and a voice message was left. Till this day we never received a response. The front desk was contacted and their response was that room service had left for the day and they would let room service room know the following day to remove the garbage. In addition, in order for us to receive amenities for the bathroom we would physically have to go down to the front desk in order to retrieve them. It is unacceptable for anyone to stay at a hotel and have garbage in the room and the bathroom filled to the top for days. This entire encounter was between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on September 30th, 2019. Never again will we be staying at this establishment. Nobody should ever stay here.

Yelp
After spending a long, exhausting day at the Restaurant Show. I was shocked upon my return to find 2 hotel employees with a luggage cart INSIDE MY ROOM, PACKING MY THINGS AND PREPARING TO TAKE THEM. They said that the system did not show me occupying the room, and so they were going to empty it. (Just for the sake of head-scratching, I should mention that I happened to leave a LITERAL SIGN - a 24"x36" piece of cardboard - ON THE BED that had my full name written across it in large print.) I had to accompany the staff person to the front desk to "fix" my reservation. The phone in the room did not work, the toilet overflowed the first time I flushed it (and water on the floor showed that this was not a new problem - I fixed it myself during my stay), the deadbolt on the door was not functional. In an effort to not take out my frustration on the front desk staff, I expressed my displeasure to them relatively mildly, but wrote a scathing email to management when I returned home, asking for a detailed receipt and an acknowledgement of my complaint. It is now a full week since my stay, and I have received NO RESPONSE from the sales manager, whom I contacted directly (twice), nor the Hotel Felix web portal.

Yelp
The lobby is really nice but as you get into the floors with with the rooms, the rooms are sub-par. When we checked in, they had to make sure the room was clean after we had booked 3 months in advance and come in at 9pm. We were here for 4 nights and never got our room cleaned once. The hotel is in a great location, but overall the quality is not even close to a 4 star hotel level. I won't be back here for my next visit.

Yelp
80 degree rooms with broken AC and no fans. Multiple nights with little to no sleep due to heat. I was transferred to a different room my first night due to heat at 2am and it is actually hotter than the original and the window is bolted shut, so here I am writing this at 3am the next day. Maintenance said they tested the AC but it outputs room temperature air. Front desk will not transfer me to a cooler room or send somebody to fix the AC, they dodged my requests and told me to come back the next day because maintenance is working on water problems right now. I am a troubled sleeper generally but I have never received such bad service at a hotel where they did not even try to help as I am pulling an all nighter here. Would not recommend this hotel in the spring or summer.

Yelp
These reviews on Yelp had me a bit nervous after booking this hotel thru Priceline Express. I had low expectations walking in, but that was quickly turned around upon walking in. The desk was so friendly and our room was ready early! We were checked in within minutes. The room view wasn't great, but to be honest, we gotta great deal and I didn't care. Who just stays in their room in Chicago?! The room was very small, but clean and modern. We didn't really have room to keep our suitcases out, but that didn't bother me. The room was a little hot at night, but the bed was comfortable and I slept fairly well. Next time I would not be disappointed to book this hotel at all! The location is great!

Yelp
My husband and I always book this hotel when coming for a show. Can't beat the price. It's close to everything!

Yelp
Nicer hotel than I thought it would be. I usually stay closer to Michigan Ave where most of the hotels are, but this was an excellent location, close to both the red and brown trains and many N/S bus lines, close to great restaurants, and close to a number of gyms and workout facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were fine and in good shape, but small. Hotel workout room minimal (dumbbells+bench, Swiss ball, rollers, 2 treads, 2 ellipticals). Free coffee in the morning, no food. Plenty of breakfast places within 3 blocks. I'd definitely stay here again.

Yelp
The photos online look beautiful, and the price can't be beat for the location, but it really wasn't an enjoyable stay. When I checked in, the front desk person was suuuuper friendly. Later that night, when I came back from dinner and interacted with another staff, oh man, she had very bad attitude. But what really got me was how poorly equipped the rooms (or maybe just my room at the $75 price point) were. There is not a mini fridge and coffee maker in the room. The ice machine in the hallway does not work. The room is tiiiiiny. I bumped against the corner of the bed at least three times during one night's stay. The sink in the bathroom is also incredibly shallow, making it super hard to wash my hands. Oh, the heat is wack. It got way too hot at times even though I had it on at high 60s. Not sure how many of these things are related to their eco friendly mission, but definitely not customer friendly. I didn't even bother to see the gym or get my free coffee from the the coffee shop next door.

Yelp

Yelp
Hotel Felix was a good stay. The lobby is very inviting and you get free coffee at the shop next door in the mornings. The restaurant here (Troque) has $30 bottomless bunch and has decent food. Just know before you book here that the rooms are very small...cozy, but small. No mini fridge, not much toiletries, and a decent city view. The hallways are very sterile looking and not in a good way. Florescent lights, 80s decor; kinda creepy to be honest. All in all, this is an ok place for the location. There's a bunch of great restaurants near by and easy close access to public transit to get to wherever you want in the city

Yelp
The staff was not helpful or friendly. My bathroom was flooded with water (shower water + toilet water) from the upstairs room. The room phone wasn't working and when I called off my cell to advised of the overflowing/flooding of water. The front desk advised they would call the technicians. NO ONE arrived and when I went downstairs the girl that I was speaking to on the phone advised that the technicians already went up. (Not true, I was waiting for over 30+ mins for a person that was suppose to assist ASAP). She then stated that the technicians advised her THE DAY BEFORE that the toilet pipes were backed up and she will need to call them again to assess the room and wait --- inexcusable. No one communicated that a technician would enter our room without us knowing/being in our room of valuables or let us know about the technicians findings of being a backed up toilet pipe. Why leave PAID guests in a room that you know has (sanitation) issues. A manager never reached out. I had to debate and show "proof" of the situation in my room I specifically stayed at this location because we were running the Chicago Marathon. The price for marathon weekend is inflated by at least 50% a day. When I finally received a new room assignment, I did not receive an apology. The room was smaller and a down grade to my original room. I don't appreciate being gaslighted on multiple occasions by the staff. There was an another incident where I experienced racism + microaggressions by front desk. Beware off being treating less than human and having to hear the front desk talk about you loudly as you sit in the lounge with other patrons.

Yelp
I wanted to like this hotel more than I did, I stayed here on a business trip recently. It's a small boutique hotel on Huron St, close to the action of Michigan Ave. PROS: Super comfortable bed, I could have stayed in it all day. Really nice (L'Occitane) bath products. Fast check-in and check-out. Good location. CONS: The window almost sounded like it was open, but it wasn't. I was on the 9th floor and could still hear everything going on outside. It had a latch but then looked like it was nailed shut, or something. Housekeeping knocked on my door at 8am. That's quite a bit early... I woke up at 745am but if I hadn't, I would have been rather annoyed. Clock radio alarm went off at 7am too, which wasn't fun. Teeny room (I'd say MAYBE 200 sq feet). It was fine for just me and for one night but I wouldn't try to squeeze more than two people in there. Shower only (no bathtub). I think we had a rate of $159/n which for Chicago is a really good deal. The room door said it goes up to $429/n though which is crazy. For $159 I would stay there again, especially if I'm not in the room much, but I wouldn't pay more than that.

Yelp
Pros: nearby red and brown metro, around 6-8 mins and free coffee in the morning. Cons: no free breakfast, dirty quilt cover, and inefficient service.

Yelp
I got an amazing deal staying at the Hotel Felix for 3 nights. I primarily picked this hotel because of its city centered location. It is closely located near the Red line for metra. Compared to the pictures advertised on most of the hotel sites, the hotel is a lot smaller than what it appears in the pictures. The staff was friendly. There was confusion with my reservations since I booked via 3rd party website. You do need to use your room key to access the elevator at all times. The hotel has definitely been renovated on the outside. on the inside - -it appears worn down. The 2 bed room was small, clean but OLD. The furniture had chipped wood. Beds were quite comfortable. There is a safe but no actual closet, just a drape covering "closet space". There are no minifridge or complimentary coffee in the rooms (complimentary coffee is available in the lobby for certain hours). The phone in our room wasn't working. Every time we tried using it it would be a busy dial tone. We consulted room service about it but nobody came up. For food options, the hotel has a in house sushi bar or a french bistro type spot next door called Troquet. Don't come here expecting luxury, but good location.
