Very Disappointing Experience Despite a Beautiful Hotel
I will start with the positives and end with the disappointment.
The hotel itself is of a very high standard. It was renovated about six months ago, and everything is new, beautiful, and impressive.
The food is excellent - truly restaurant-level quality.
The waitstaff are very kind and professional, and the menu changes daily.
The saunas are high-end and well maintained.
There is an amazing rooftop jacuzzi next to a pool. In my opinion, the pool is not warm enough, but it is still pleasant and offers a beautiful mountain view.
We stayed in a mountain-view suite, and the location is excellent - literally a one-minute walk to the cable car.
We booked a 7-night package including a ski pass and a wine tasting evening. The package was relatively expensive, but we specifically chose it because we really wanted the wine tasting experience.
At check-in, we were asked to confirm the date and time for the wine tasting. We scheduled it at the reception for Tuesday at 18:00, and we were asked to arrive on time.
On Tuesday, we arrived exactly at 18:00, after preparing in advance and canceling other plans we could have made. To our surprise, we were told that the wine tasting must be booked in advance. When we explained that it had already been scheduled for us at check-in, the staff insisted again that a reservation was required.
The hotel owner or manager was present and informed us that there was already a German couple attending the wine tasting and that we could not join because we speak English. We explained that it would not bother us at all if the tasting continued in German, but we were still refused entry - despite arriving exactly at the agreed time.
When we asked to reschedule, we were told that the wine tasting only takes place on Tuesdays. Unfortunately, we were checking out Monday morning, making it impossible to attend.
When it became clear how disappointed we were, there was very little empathy shown. No real effort was made to improve our experience or resolve the issue.
We paid for this experience, confirmed a specific date and time, and yet the manager did nothing to help - especially considering it was just one other couple, and we had no issue with the language.
After such an otherwise excellent stay, this was a major disappointment and completely overshadowed our experience.
We will not return to this hotel.
We did not receive any refund, credit, or alternative offer to compensate for the situation.
This is not how guests who paid a premium price should be treated, especially by hotel management or ownership.
We expected much more empathy and understanding from the hotel and its management.
Very disappointing.
