We decided to venture off of boring old 95 to this quaint old gem of a Victorian hotel in the heart of historic downtown Florence, South Carolina! I love that Hilton buys up and restores these historic hotels that would never survive in this day and age if still privately owned! The staff is courteous, the rooms clean, comfortable and attractive! There is a restaurant in house for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and a Mexican place across the street, a pizza parlor next door. Parking is in a lot across the street or in a lot behind the hotel, and both are free. You will find all the amenities of a Hilton here, but no free breakfast like at the Hilton Hampton Inn. Regardless, we would definitely stay here again!

A boutique hotel in downtown Florence. The staff are very friendly, and the hotel is very nice, looks great, has an old feel and look. The bads are so comfortable!!! The restaurant in the hotel is a little on the expensive side, but not bad, although the black eyed peas were under cooked, the staff made it right quickly with a discount and free dessert. They have a spa and a small, very small gym. I will definitely book here again if I am ever back in this area

Wish I could give this 0 star. I have stayed at Hotel Florence multiple times over the years, but my most recent stay was absolutely horrible and I will never return. To start, there was a shooting right outside our room during our stay. The gunfire busted a main water line and caused the hotel to flood while we were there. This was terrifying and completely unacceptable for a place where families should feel safe. Even before this incident, the service and conditions were deplorable. We asked for extra blankets because my daughter was cold, and the front desk told us they didn’t have any. Our room had no hot water, and although we complained multiple times, no one ever came to fix it. The shower was dirty. When we asked for clean towels, the staff required us to carry our dirty, used towels through the lobby and hand them to the front desk. We were then given a plastic bag and told to put the towels in ourselves, before being handed replacements. This was embarrassing, unsanitary, and unprofessional. I could not get a hold of the manager during my stay, which I tried to understand since it was the weekend. However, when I called the following week to request a refund, I was told I could not get one because I booked through a third-party site. That may be true, but at the end of the day, the hotel still got paid for my stay and profited from my experience. A reputable business would have done the right thing and issued some kind of reimbursement given the circumstances. On top of all this, the small touches that once made this hotel nice are gone. My daughter used to look forward to having hot chocolate in the lobby, but that machine is gone. I was told it broke — a machine that could have been replaced for around $50. They don’t even offer coffee in the lobby anymore. If you value your safety, quality of service, or even basic hospitality, this is not the hotel for you. This hotel has gone completely downhill and my experience was beyond disappointing.

We were traveling from Maine to Florida and decided to spend a night at the hotel.|The hotel has been wonderfully restored. The rooms were spacious and well appointed.|The restaurant Victors was fantastic for dinner and breakfast.||So, you must wonder why a 4 and not a 5. When we checked in I asked for a room in a quiet location. As a result we were on the third floor, which should have been fine, except the room is by the elevator. The elevator is the only one in the hotel and people used it all night. I’d start to fall asleep and off it would go. Very frustrating.||Be sure you are nowhere near the elevator!

Historical hotel with a real “history” My husband and I stayed at the Florence during the end of the Labor Day weekend. We booked a week to visit our grandson. Upon arrival the parking was located directly across the street of the hotel. The hotel gives an old rustic feel considering the history of the building, old is to be expected. However the first room we were given didn’t have proper ventilation and we noticed mold and no windows. This was a first floor single room. The beautiful exposed brick foundation is a nice accent to the first room but again it was mediocre at best. The cleanliness of the hotel is questionable also. There is a nice full shower but even the wall had hair and other dirt in it upon arrival. We did not complain, we stayed in that room 2 nights before asking to be moved for our grandson. The front desk ladies were accommodating but nothing spectacular. The rugs could use cleaning and the rooms could use a deep clean and proper maintenance. The second floor double bed room offered plenty of light but there was a roach, mold, and a host of cosmetic problems. Old fixtures, no refrigerator, microwave nor iron was available. We had to get one from another room. Also, maintenance walked in our room without knocking to our surprise. The coffee maker nor TV worked for us either. The phone was old and worn as well. There is no one to assist you upon arrival but there are luggage carts available. The Victors restaurant was pleasant and affordable. My waiter James was awesome and attentive! Overall, if you want an old hotel with a rustic feel with no amenities, this is the place for you. If you want a 3 star hotel, I do not believe this fits the bill but I would recommend because it is the only ‘high end’ hotel in Florence. Making some changes may increase its popularity but “history”may alter people’s decision to reside here.

I found this hotel charming. If you love vintage charm- gorgeous original wood flooring, exposed brick- this is the place for you. There is an upscale restuarant within walking distance as well as other eating spots. The beds were comfortable, it is very clean, and the staff is helpful and friendly. As others have noted, there isnt a closet but a hanging solution is present and it didnt bother me at all. The on site restuarant was closed for renovations but the breakfast was very good- much better quality than what I expect from a typical included hotel breakfast. There is a spa attached that I will try if staying in the future. My only suggestion would be adding a mini fridge and a luggage rack to the rooms. This hotel gave me a feel for the original town instead of a "anywhere USA "chain feel. I would stay here again.

NOT Family- Friendly, lobby smells oddly of cat urine, the floors of the room were sticky, there were no windows in the room, and staff is rude and unreasonable||We are driving from Virginia to Florida for Disney and decided not to stay in the hotels right off 95. We wanted to come into downtown—buying into the website description of “a boutique hotel with southern charm”—-and because we love supporting small businesses for food and shopping when we visit new places.||Not ten minutes after walking into our (less than stellar) room, the “operations manager” was knocking on our door, telling us they’d received a noise complaint from next door. Apparently we shared a wall with the spa and she suggested we keep our “cute kid” on the opposite side of the room (the bedroom vs living room side of the suite).||We hadn’t even turned on the TV! Just unloaded our small bit of luggage for one night and explored the room. Yes, our daughter rode the luggage cart back to the lobby for fun with my husband pushing (like a typical kid and what we have done in much posher hotels), and had just come back to the room. She couldn’t wait to tell me they had “a pantry with chips!!!” - you know, the little snack and beverage area - and was so excited. After six hours in a car, she was happy for the first leg of our adventures.||I visited the front desk and requested they put us in a new room then that was “family-friendly” to which they said one was not available.||We immediately left for dinner (their restaurant is closed and under renovations) and decided to switch hotels after our daughter couldn’t stop apologizing and asking what she did wrong for them to be mad at her. No histrionics. She literally could not wrap her four-year-old brain around what had just happened no matter how many times we told her the staff was just being unkind.||When we returned, we informed the front desk we were checking out and moving to another hotel (and were told no manager was on duty to talk to us). ||The employee, with a clear attitude, said - “The spa is closed now so I don’t understand the issue.”||Ummmm. MA’M…. the issue is it’s not like it was 4 a.m. and we were raging. It was 4 PM and we simply had a very thankful, expressive, (freaking POLITE AF) toddler just happy to be out of the car, and in a “fun” hotel for the night.||Take our advice, and just keep driving. Our advice is to skip the city of Florence all together.

This chic hotel does not offer a refrigerator, microwave, or closet. These are necessities needed when you’re away from home. The AC got really cold so we turned it off. Unfortunately, it never came back on after several attempts. We stayed 1/7 nights. There’s a really loud noise on the back end of the hotel. Very disturbing unable to rest.

Yelp
Eh. Not impressed. We are staying here for our daughter's wedding as she chose this place as her food and reception. Room. We paid for a suite. Which I will say isn't cheap by any means. No fridge. No closet. The sofa does NOT pull out into a bed as my husband thought for our 18yo son who's over 6' tall. There are 2 separate AC units in each room and if one is changed it trips the breaker...?? So we were burning up the 1st night we got there. They did fix it but wow it took a very long time. Was told they both have to be on the same thing...? Uh ok. Sounds like some Motel 6 stuff but ok. The food. Also eh. On one hand I wanted to like it but the other hand I was like ehhhh. It's not wonderful. About to head down and eat breakfast so last chance. Victors. Oh yeah and no sweet tea in the morning is what I was told yesterday. Like whatever

Yelp
We stayed in a two bedroom suite overlooking Evans street. It was spacious and lovely. It has so much potential. The beds were comfortable and it could have been a great stay, however Three main issues - crazy motorcycle scene with loud loud music until 1AM right out the window. It did not seem like a one time thing, rather the local scene. - multiple AC units that did not all work properly. Our master bedroom got so Hot even with unit set at 60 while the living room had to be turned up to 73 to warm it up. - our suite had a full size refrigerator and lovely countertop with a sink. There was not one utensil, plate, wine key, napkin. Nada. There were 4 glasses and 4 mugs. But nothing to make eating possible.

Yelp
Very clean and very pleasant staff. Read other reviews after booking and questioned decision. When we arrived the front desk was great, room was spotless. Breakfast area was also very clean and well stocked. Great Job Homewood for making a stop on the road pleasant and relaxing!

Yelp
The first time we stayed here the shower was full of hair. We are here tonight for the second time and yet again, hair all over the shower walls. Gross! This time I forgot my personal shower gel...the soap dispenser in the shower was completely empty. When things like this are overlooked, it always makes me wonder did they bother to change the sheets? On top of that, I spoke to the concierge twice...not one word from him. I thought a concierge's job was to make guests feel welcome. Do better.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch and we were greeted by Jazz! She's a true gem! Super friendly and really nice. She even helped us find a cup so we can microwave some water to heat up our daughters bottle! Excellent customer service! Way to go above and beyond! Thank you Jazz!

Yelp
This hotel is overrated. Our room was very small, smelled of mildew, the ceiling had water damage, the room was dusty/toilet wasn't properly cleaned, and the room phone didn't work. I requested to be moved due to these issues, but I was told all rooms were booked. We were promised a $30.00 breaskfast pass, but the food was of poor quality. We should of been refunded. Don't stay at this hotel.

Yelp
Nice hotel. What absolutely ruined it for me - we were placed in a room in the 200s wing next to an alley. No one told us there WOULD BE A VERY LOUD BAND PLAYING RIGHT OUTSIDE THE WINDOW UNTIL 10pm. Unacceptable. Unpleasant. After traveling for 24 hours, this was the last thing we expected/needed...... And no heads up?? It's clearly a regular thing, I learned after speaking to the front desk. Do better.

Yelp
Super cute, historic hotel. Comfortable beds, beautiful historic room interior, very THIN walls though. Most importantly? STAY AWAY FROM "VICTOR'S" on-site restaurant!!! I was extremely excited to discover there was a "five star" restaurant here in Florence, South Carolina located at the hotel I walked into. Let me tell you about last nights experience with them! Delicious food that kept me up power puking all night every hour on the hour from 3:00 AM when I woke up with the sudden need to vomit until 5:30 PM at the end of the day. I called the manager, Erin, who was extremely snotty and stated THEIR FOOD DOESN'T MAKE ANYONE SICK. Never mind the fact that the server saw that my last lamp chop was completely rare and insisted he take it back. This is coming from a meat lover who always orders med. rare. When I tell you it was rare, think Lamb Tar Tar! I didn't even have to say a word to the server, he noticed it as soon as he arrived at my table and offered to whisk it away. He asked if I would like a refund and I told him no, the rest of the dinner was delicious and I was full at that point. I didn't call for a refund until power puking from 3 AM to 5 PM When I could finally hold the phone without shaking and having to make another run to the bathroom. I spoke with Erin, the manager at this point because I was frustrated with non-stop throwing up. I kid you not, she called my room because this is one of the Hilton hotels, and told me that she is extremely annoyed that I would accuse them of making me sick because nobody ever gets sick. Well **** them! I told them they needed the money more than I do and just keep it and I will be sure to let the rest of the world know not to eat their freaking nasty ass lamb chop from the chef who can't cook and is obviously sleeping with her. Oh yes, I'm pi**sed, and believe me, YOU WOULD BE TOO. PS, there is NO where else to eat if you're at this hotel with no car and don't feel like getting jumped walking down the street! You are STUCK with them. You're welcome for the head's up, people. Don't say you weren't forewarned. How does that dumb song go? "All that glitters isn't gold." Why, you might ask, am I posting all this additional information on Hilton's Hotel Florence's review? Because they represent them. They condone this restaurant with allowing them to park in their lobby, AND because the Hilton management will not take responsibility for the restaurant making their guests puke all night! They need to learn that if they are going to make money off the restaurant on site, they need to take responsibility as well. When the restaurants management REFUSED to acknowledge the fact the lamb chop was rare and spoiled, the Hilton should have stepped in. This place is disgusting.

Yelp
We have never stayed in Florence and we were surprised by the cute little old town. The hotel is quite old but modern and very clean. The rooms are smaller but well appointed with high ceilings. Unfortunately there is no sound proofing and the wood floors echo everything that goes on. When someone walks past your door, you will think they are in your room. Now for a "Redhot Moment"...The evening was a cold 42 degrees and the room was so stuffy. We turned the air down and went for a walk. When we returned nothing had changed. Not even one degree. The air conditioning units were older and in the upper walls. Fortunately we had a window that opened. Unfortunately it opened to the view of two other rooms. We didn't care. We needed air. The room quickly cooled with the window open. The air conditioning finally kicked in and we were comfortable the rest of the night. If this unit was sluggish at 42 degrees, what must this room feel like in the humid summers? Definitely not going to find out.

Yelp
This is a beautiful space, the bed is so comfortable, the restaurant is fabulous, and August is an amazing desk clerk. The feel of home and family/friends surrounds you immediately, and August was a big part of that. I hope to return when passing through again. I only wish I had arrived earlier! Highly, highly recommend.
