While we enjoyed our stay, this hotel is a little hard to score. There were a lot of things we enjoyed but also a few issues.||We enjoyed the downtown location and the renovation of the historic building is well done. The hotel has lots of character. Our room was very nice. It was a suite.....large and clean. The staff were great......the agent who checked us in was outstanding. She was friendly and very helpful. The other staff we encountered were also very nice. The on-site restaurant, Victor's, is very good.||There were a few things we didn't like. While our room was a large and was a suite, there was no door between the living area and bedroom (the purpose of a suite). The AC was difficult to use. It was a wall mount, ductless unit. I couldn't get it to work....the staff came up and started it for us. The phone in our room was missing. Not a big deal until we needed to call the desk ref. the AC. The bedroom TV cut in and out....probably a connection issue. Also, the water pressure was awful and the only provided bar soap wasn't much bigger than a half dollar. I don't know why anyone would want to use rosemary and chamomile body wash......I just want deodorant soap (in bar form). Finally, there was a fitness center but it was very small.||Most of our dislikes were minor......hopefully, they'll be addressed. We are likely to return.

I loved the Victorian feel of the hotel. It truly felt like you stepped into a time machine. The wood original floors in the main lobby areas were the cherry on top. I am ok with their being a microwave only in the main area, but I wish they would add a small refrigerator to the rooms. I slept wonderful, and my room was clean. The only drawback I did not like was that the carpet had a few stains. I would suggest they shampoo the carpets. I also did not like I only could use glass cups in my room for the coffee station and not have to-go cups as an option. I understand they offer coffee on the main level, but it would be nice to have that option in your room. I do love they have a steamer for your clothes, instead of a iron and iron board in the room. The location is perfect, and right in the heart of everything. The front lobby decor is amazing and the restaurant is great. The breakfast is not free at this Hilton, so that's another drawback. Overall, I was pleased with my stay. If you want charm, then definitely stay here.

Just want to mention that the Hotel Manager was great!||The first front desk person seemed put off by us getting there early. Did not tell us that the restaurant closed at 3PM, otherwise we would have had lunch at the restaurant and waited for the room to become available. ||Breakfast was not great. I have had better at DoubleTree and at DoubleTree with our food vouchers if one of does not eat they will normally just comp both vouchers for the one person and breakfast is free. Did not happen here.

I will start with the good and then the bad. The good was it’s a cool, historical building, with a nice, fun bar and lovely restaurant. The food and the cocktails were good and our server was very attentive. The staff were super pleasant and I enjoyed talking with them. ||Parking was bizarre as there is no dedicated parking for the hotel; you have to find street parking or find a parking garage and hike. The street noise is crazy loud and bless you if you can sleep through the Harleys cruising the block all night. I couldn’t. I understand that this isn’t something the hotel can control, but location can be factored into a review and the noise was insane.|Unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay there again.

Google
Hotel is excellent - remodeled building with a great boutique feel! Room was quite expansive and Victor's restaurant was great! The Spa was also phenomenal - had a 90 min massage with Michal and it was seriously one of the best massages I've ever had. If I lived in Florence, I'd be back every week! Michal was amazing and worked through some pain in my neck and upper back!!

The rooms were tiny. The mini split air conditioner didn’t work for more than 3 hours at a time. We had to wake up three times to turn it back on. Tried to call front desk but guess what? The phone didn’t work. I would definitely NOT stay here again. But!! The restaurant there is absolutely fabulous. The food is beyond delicious and the service was impeccable. We would go back there just to eat at the restaurant. It’s called Victors. I would never stay in a room there, but the restaurant gets 10 stars out of five.

Hotel Florence offers everything I want in a getaway: comfortable, upscale rooms in an architecturally- interesting building from the 1800s; a gourmet restaurant; a spa (massages! Perfect relaxation!); a casual, cozy wine bar; and walkability (try nearby Lulu's coffee for espresso drinks like my fav Great Gatsby).||It is a great place to take a break (which we have done on travels between Florida and Pennsylvania) and step out of your day-to-day life to catch your breath!

Not only super confortable beds, but the history in the building is fantastic! Loved all the exposed brick and the staircases and original wood floors (little creaky when you get up at night, but nothing a sound machine doesn’t help mask!) The spacious rooms and luxury baths were the icing on the cake.

Yelp
Eh. Not impressed. We are staying here for our daughter's wedding as she chose this place as her food and reception. Room. We paid for a suite. Which I will say isn't cheap by any means. No fridge. No closet. The sofa does NOT pull out into a bed as my husband thought for our 18yo son who's over 6' tall. There are 2 separate AC units in each room and if one is changed it trips the breaker...?? So we were burning up the 1st night we got there. They did fix it but wow it took a very long time. Was told they both have to be on the same thing...? Uh ok. Sounds like some Motel 6 stuff but ok. The food. Also eh. On one hand I wanted to like it but the other hand I was like ehhhh. It's not wonderful. About to head down and eat breakfast so last chance. Victors. Oh yeah and no sweet tea in the morning is what I was told yesterday. Like whatever

Yelp
We stayed in a two bedroom suite overlooking Evans street. It was spacious and lovely. It has so much potential. The beds were comfortable and it could have been a great stay, however Three main issues - crazy motorcycle scene with loud loud music until 1AM right out the window. It did not seem like a one time thing, rather the local scene. - multiple AC units that did not all work properly. Our master bedroom got so Hot even with unit set at 60 while the living room had to be turned up to 73 to warm it up. - our suite had a full size refrigerator and lovely countertop with a sink. There was not one utensil, plate, wine key, napkin. Nada. There were 4 glasses and 4 mugs. But nothing to make eating possible.

Yelp
Very clean and very pleasant staff. Read other reviews after booking and questioned decision. When we arrived the front desk was great, room was spotless. Breakfast area was also very clean and well stocked. Great Job Homewood for making a stop on the road pleasant and relaxing!

Yelp
The first time we stayed here the shower was full of hair. We are here tonight for the second time and yet again, hair all over the shower walls. Gross! This time I forgot my personal shower gel...the soap dispenser in the shower was completely empty. When things like this are overlooked, it always makes me wonder did they bother to change the sheets? On top of that, I spoke to the concierge twice...not one word from him. I thought a concierge's job was to make guests feel welcome. Do better.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch and we were greeted by Jazz! She's a true gem! Super friendly and really nice. She even helped us find a cup so we can microwave some water to heat up our daughters bottle! Excellent customer service! Way to go above and beyond! Thank you Jazz!

Yelp
This hotel is overrated. Our room was very small, smelled of mildew, the ceiling had water damage, the room was dusty/toilet wasn't properly cleaned, and the room phone didn't work. I requested to be moved due to these issues, but I was told all rooms were booked. We were promised a $30.00 breaskfast pass, but the food was of poor quality. We should of been refunded. Don't stay at this hotel.

Yelp
Nice hotel. What absolutely ruined it for me - we were placed in a room in the 200s wing next to an alley. No one told us there WOULD BE A VERY LOUD BAND PLAYING RIGHT OUTSIDE THE WINDOW UNTIL 10pm. Unacceptable. Unpleasant. After traveling for 24 hours, this was the last thing we expected/needed...... And no heads up?? It's clearly a regular thing, I learned after speaking to the front desk. Do better.

Yelp
Super cute, historic hotel. Comfortable beds, beautiful historic room interior, very THIN walls though. Most importantly? STAY AWAY FROM "VICTOR'S" on-site restaurant!!! I was extremely excited to discover there was a "five star" restaurant here in Florence, South Carolina located at the hotel I walked into. Let me tell you about last nights experience with them! Delicious food that kept me up power puking all night every hour on the hour from 3:00 AM when I woke up with the sudden need to vomit until 5:30 PM at the end of the day. I called the manager, Erin, who was extremely snotty and stated THEIR FOOD DOESN'T MAKE ANYONE SICK. Never mind the fact that the server saw that my last lamp chop was completely rare and insisted he take it back. This is coming from a meat lover who always orders med. rare. When I tell you it was rare, think Lamb Tar Tar! I didn't even have to say a word to the server, he noticed it as soon as he arrived at my table and offered to whisk it away. He asked if I would like a refund and I told him no, the rest of the dinner was delicious and I was full at that point. I didn't call for a refund until power puking from 3 AM to 5 PM When I could finally hold the phone without shaking and having to make another run to the bathroom. I spoke with Erin, the manager at this point because I was frustrated with non-stop throwing up. I kid you not, she called my room because this is one of the Hilton hotels, and told me that she is extremely annoyed that I would accuse them of making me sick because nobody ever gets sick. Well **** them! I told them they needed the money more than I do and just keep it and I will be sure to let the rest of the world know not to eat their freaking nasty ass lamb chop from the chef who can't cook and is obviously sleeping with her. Oh yes, I'm pi**sed, and believe me, YOU WOULD BE TOO. PS, there is NO where else to eat if you're at this hotel with no car and don't feel like getting jumped walking down the street! You are STUCK with them. You're welcome for the head's up, people. Don't say you weren't forewarned. How does that dumb song go? "All that glitters isn't gold." Why, you might ask, am I posting all this additional information on Hilton's Hotel Florence's review? Because they represent them. They condone this restaurant with allowing them to park in their lobby, AND because the Hilton management will not take responsibility for the restaurant making their guests puke all night! They need to learn that if they are going to make money off the restaurant on site, they need to take responsibility as well. When the restaurants management REFUSED to acknowledge the fact the lamb chop was rare and spoiled, the Hilton should have stepped in. This place is disgusting.

Yelp
We have never stayed in Florence and we were surprised by the cute little old town. The hotel is quite old but modern and very clean. The rooms are smaller but well appointed with high ceilings. Unfortunately there is no sound proofing and the wood floors echo everything that goes on. When someone walks past your door, you will think they are in your room. Now for a "Redhot Moment"...The evening was a cold 42 degrees and the room was so stuffy. We turned the air down and went for a walk. When we returned nothing had changed. Not even one degree. The air conditioning units were older and in the upper walls. Fortunately we had a window that opened. Unfortunately it opened to the view of two other rooms. We didn't care. We needed air. The room quickly cooled with the window open. The air conditioning finally kicked in and we were comfortable the rest of the night. If this unit was sluggish at 42 degrees, what must this room feel like in the humid summers? Definitely not going to find out.

Yelp
This is a beautiful space, the bed is so comfortable, the restaurant is fabulous, and August is an amazing desk clerk. The feel of home and family/friends surrounds you immediately, and August was a big part of that. I hope to return when passing through again. I only wish I had arrived earlier! Highly, highly recommend.
