We got here late in need of a room. We'd planned to spend the night at a nearby hotel we'd used before, but, sadly, the Josen Hotel has closed. We were there in the spring before so don't know if the Josen is gone forever.||||Anyway... there was no one at the desk when we arrived. I followed the noise down the hall to the restaurant and asked the waitress about rooms. She left the restaurant and returned to the desk to check. Yes, they had a room. She summoned an older woman to show me the room. The room was nice, clean enough, maybe the carpet was a little tatty [?]. There was no lift and you walked up 15 steps to a landing, then another 14 to the hall where our room, #16, was. Our door was warped or something so we could not lock it from the inside. With a bit of tugging, it locked fine from the outside. Since this was an isolated, rural area we felt safe and didn't worry about the lock. We did put a chair up against the door figuring the crash, bang of someone entering would give us plenty of warning. The waitress had plenty of English to check about the room and get our dinner, but the other woman had none. Not a problem.||||The bathroom was very compact but clean. The towels were very, very thin. The towels our only real complaint.||||Dinner at the hotel restaurant was very good. The menu had more choices than many we saw in Europe. The food was very good, reasonably priced and authentic German fare which is getting hard to find in Germany. ? Locals drive from nearby towns for this restaurant.||||Breakfast was included in the E64.00 room price and was good, including ham, 3 cheeses, several breads, yogurt, boiled eggs, and coffee. Parking was free, a large open lot. We felt the car very safe because this hotel is so isolated.||||Except for the stairs, we liked the place and would stay there again.
