"If you’re opening a brand-new hotel in an old city — indeed, in the very center of the oldest neighborhood of a city celebrated for its rich cultural history — you have two choices. You can either try to recreate the grandeur of the past, or you can embrace the future. The proprietors of the Grand Ferdinand Vienna opted for the latter. And we’re glad they did. Vienna already has its fair share of glittering palaces; trying to rival their splendor through imitation is a futile task. A better idea, in this case, to try a different approach, to take a stab at redefining Viennese glamour and refinement for contemporary travelers." - Tablet Hotels

The horse in reception is the first thing which catches your attention. All the staff were so polite and helpful. I was upgraded to a room on the fifth floor which had a great view of the Schubertring, a very comfortable bed and separate toilet and shower. I liked all the different little touches in the room like a fridge within a suitcase, the mirror, the window shutters and the sofa. The rooftop bar was superb too. I didn’t go in the swimming pool which although small would allow you to cool off on a hot day, as it was when I stayed. I don’t normally use hotel gyms (or any gyms) but as I am recovering from a serious shoulder injury, I took the opportunity to use the weights in the gym which was v handy. Everything very clean and spotless. There is the most fabulous schnitzel restaurant on the ground floor Meisl & Shadn - had a delicious schnitzel with potato and cucumber salad. You don’t need to leave this hotel as it has everything you need but if you do then the location is perfect too. Thanks for a great stay and I would definitely stay here on my next visit to Vienna

Well located hotel with easy access to all public transportation. Superior room was small and dark, but clean and comfortable. Was a concern to have shower that vented into the bedroom - I couldn’t help noticing potential black mould on the ceiling (and this was painted concrete floor beams!)? What a maintenance nightmare !! Was it us, but the lighting system switches were bonkers .. either all on or all off … no bedside lighting would work without the ceiling lights full on. Didn’t do breakfast as can easily get cheaper elsewhere.

Hotel is very well located for exploring Vienna. The rooms are quite small but quirky. The breakfasts were amazing (would definitely recommend including ). Staff all were very friendly. Lovely hotel. If I had one suggestion it would be that the hotel include an umbrella in each room as they had all unfortunately ran out of them when we needed. All in all a great hotel.

Stylish rooms, but the open bathroom might not be for everyone The materials and design inside this hotel are truly excellent—dark wood floors, elegant lighting, and thoughtful decor give the rooms a sophisticated, contemporary feel . However, I personally found the choice to have the sink and a rainfall shower integrated into the bedroom rather puzzling—there’s no separate bathroom, and the shower is essentially attached to the bed area, meaning all the humidity from the shower enters the room . It’s a bold design move, but not one I appreciated—and it’s enough that I wouldn’t stay again. Still, if you value stylish design and don’t mind the lack of privacy in the bathroom, these well-appointed rooms may appeal to you.

TLDR: amazing food, friendly staff, super clean Staff at check in were very friendly and welcoming. As mentioned in other reviews, the rooms are little quirky, or should I say “romantic”? while I am generally not a fan of the open plan design concept, I did like the hard wood floors and furniture. everything was functional and spotlessly clean. Shower was good, bed was a good size, AC worked just fine, windows opened. Had a great night of sleep. The gym is clean, but way too small. Ideally the hotel would offer a discount or so for a extramural full-size gym. I really enjoyed the small rooftop pool and terrace though. Main recommendation is: Don’t skip the food here. Breakfast on the top floor offers great views and a large variety both in buffet style and a la carte. Everything was very fresh, staff continuously refilled the food and beverages and nothing was too much. Great way to start the day! A Viennese friend recommended the restaurant for the best schnitzel in town and we loved it. absolute must have and, again, super friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit and looking forward to my next stay.

What a hotel! We managed to get a last minute booking and so glad we did. The rooms are beautifully decorated but I would say better for couples as the showers have clear breeze block walls. The room was clean though a little dusty. ||There is a roof top pool, that can get busy but not too bad. Breakfast was also served on the roof top and so fabulous views of the city. ||Good quality and range of food for breakfast, with eggs cooked to order. My coeliac daughter had freshly warmed gluten free bread rolls each morning. We really enjoyed our stay here.

We had a fabulous stay at the hotel. The room we had was small but clean, and the bed was nice and firm. Great night's sleep. The breakfast had plenty of choice. The rooftop dining and pool area is gorgeous, we enjoyed a swim after a hot day's walking round the city. With views over the Belvedere, churches, and other beautiful buildings the roof top is a great addition to the hotel. Vera was very helpful in reception giving us great information about finding the nearby underground station to get to the schobrunn Palace. Thank you!

Been here 4 times, absolutely amazing place. The shower in the bedroom is something to experience at least once. Restaurant on the roof is amazing (kudos to the people who decided to offer bloody mary at the breakfast). Perfect view from the 8th floor, service is impecible. I strongly recommend this hotel!
