"If you’re opening a brand-new hotel in an old city — indeed, in the very center of the oldest neighborhood of a city celebrated for its rich cultural history — you have two choices. You can either try to recreate the grandeur of the past, or you can embrace the future. The proprietors of the Grand Ferdinand Vienna opted for the latter. And we’re glad they did. Vienna already has its fair share of glittering palaces; trying to rival their splendor through imitation is a futile task. A better idea, in this case, to try a different approach, to take a stab at redefining Viennese glamour and refinement for contemporary travelers." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed at the Grand Ferdinand in December. We were attracted by the hotel’s location, which couldn’t be better. The best single-word descriptor for this hotel is “quirky”. The decor is quirky, the room layout is quirky, and the vibe is quirky. ||Positives:||Excellent staff. The Concierge, Dimo, is one of the best we’ve dealt with of any hotel we’ve visited. The front desk personnel are professional and very helpful. We also enjoyed the bar and breakfast staff members. Always attentive.||The restaurant, Meissl&Schadn, gets very busy, so reservations are strongly advised. We found the food excellent and, yes, the schnitzel is huge! We should have shared one; it would have been ample for each of us.||The breakfast is excellent, with ample options and very good coffee. Be sure to book the room rate with breakfast.||It’s hard to beat the location - easy walk to the center and to Vienna’s outstanding public transportation system.||Could Be Better:||Again, weird room design. Limited storage options.||The all-in-one body wash & shampoo does neither well.||Towels are thin for this hotel’s category.||If you sleep with the window cocked or open, you’ll get food smells from the restaurant.

Best hotel I have stayed in. The staff here are impressively attentive. Especially the staff on level 8 (restaurant level) and buffet breakfast. Reception staff are also very helpful. Stayed here for a couple of nights. I will definitely return here. Highly recommended. Great location and walking distance to the main shopping area.

Great place to stay in Vienna, close to the city center but very quiet. The rooms look even better than in the photos. We loved the style. Very comfortable bed. The reading lamps and the Nespresso coffee machine were greatly appreciated and the shower next to the bed was not an issue for us. We recommend wiener schnitzel at the restaurant Meissl & Schadn on the hotel ground floor. We’d be happy to stay again next time we’re in Vienna.

The staff was very friendly and attentive. Nice breakfast. The room was a bit small, I prefer a conventional bathroom rather than having the sink and the shower in the sleeping room. What I didn't appreciate was the housekeeping, there was dust on the floor and the vanity kit was not replaced. I gave this feedback to the front desk at the checkout. Beautiful interiors and very convenient location.

Overall, a great experience at Grand Ferdinand for us. I read the reviews about the guest rooms and had concerns about limited natural light and the shower near the bed, but it worked well for us. The room was comfortable and quiet, and we slept well. ||We opted for the breakfast upstairs, which was well worth it. It was the best breakfast buffet during our trip across Europe. We lingered and savored the variety of food and the spectacular atmosphere and view. The service was also excellent. ||The hotel is ideally located near all the major attractions in Vienna. We would stay here again.

The hotel was good value for money (do include the breakfast when booking) and well located to use public transport - for visiting shows and Xmas markets. The room was comfortable but we did not like the "chic" room which had the shower in the bedroom - distracting and little privacy The staff were very helpful and service was good - but with no concierge and staff busy at reception desk help/advise wasn't readily available. Hotel a good location for enjoying much of what Vienna has to offer

Google
We had a wonderful at the Grand Ferdinand. It was very well situated & close to all the main attractions. The staff was amazing…from the front desk to the cleaning staff! The rooms are comfortable and cleaned every day. We had arrived early and were accommodated with a room earlier than expected which allowed us to enjoy a complete day in Vienna. Thank you for making our stay at your hotel a great experience.

Everything was amazing! Staff are all very friendly and made us feel welcome! Iveti and team at breakfast were so friendly and attentive and the breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we've ever had! We were thoroughly impressed. The rooms are also clean, comfortable, spacious and convenient! Location is in a great central spot walking distance to most major landmarks and any cafes. Everything was perfect, would definitely recommend to stay here and would stay again! Vielen Dank für den perfekten Aufenthalt.
