We stayed at the Grand Ferdinand in December. We were attracted by the hotel’s location, which couldn’t be better. The best single-word descriptor for this hotel is “quirky”. The decor is quirky, the room layout is quirky, and the vibe is quirky. ||Positives:||Excellent staff. The Concierge, Dimo, is one of the best we’ve dealt with of any hotel we’ve visited. The front desk personnel are professional and very helpful. We also enjoyed the bar and breakfast staff members. Always attentive.||The restaurant, Meissl&Schadn, gets very busy, so reservations are strongly advised. We found the food excellent and, yes, the schnitzel is huge! We should have shared one; it would have been ample for each of us.||The breakfast is excellent, with ample options and very good coffee. Be sure to book the room rate with breakfast.||It’s hard to beat the location - easy walk to the center and to Vienna’s outstanding public transportation system.||Could Be Better:||Again, weird room design. Limited storage options.||The all-in-one body wash & shampoo does neither well.||Towels are thin for this hotel’s category.||If you sleep with the window cocked or open, you’ll get food smells from the restaurant.
