7,000-Square-Foot Multilevel Steakhouse and Japanese Whisky Bar Hits the Gaslamp | Eater San Diego

"Located on the building’s third floor, the Grand Pacific Room will function as a private dining and event space as a nod to the Grand Pacific Hotel’s late-1800s history." - Candice Woo

Service at the hotel is excellent and I would highly recommend for that. Fathom is great for breakfast. Coffee needs an upgrade. (I’m a coffee addict). Dinner is a bit expensive for smaller servings but food is very good. Location is perfect and walking distance to everything. Clean hotel. EV parking is $5 and you need to download SWTCH app so best when you are very low on charge. Level 2 charger.

Brilliant location, views, gym, service and rooms. Their strength is in their staff. We visited at a busy time near Christmas and were so welcomed. It is an old classic of a hotel so like any older person plumbing may be an issue. We had a leaking toilet cistern compounding a noisy late night club in the neighbouring vicinity. But other than that, we had a wonderful stay. Michael at the fathom restaurant was great

We stayed at this property for a quick trip to Victoria. We were visiting the Gardens and decided on Hotel Grand Pacific due to its location and easy access via Public Transit. Busses both to Butchart and and also back to Ferry were both withing a few minutes walk. It is a ride from the Gardens, but we knew we wanted to enjoy the downtown area the next morning as well as the evening after visiting Butchart. Lisa, our registration agent was so friendly and engaging. She remembered us from the day before and asked how our visit was to the Garden. Rooms are well appointed and if weather was better, we would have enjoyed sitting on the balcony! Nice selection of coffees and teas in the room for the Keurig. Our Ferry was later in the afternoon for our departure and Paul handled storing our bags quickly and efficiently. Will definitely chose this property again for our next visit to Victoria.

We were a family of 5 in two suites, one on the 6th floor and one on the 8th. We arrived on the Clipper at 11am and walked across the street from the dock to our hotel. So nice and easy! We expected our rooms to not be ready but thankfully they were! I loved our suites, spacious, nice big tubs and two balconies for our suites! One faced the harbor and one faced the parliament building—two amazing views! The Victoria Athletic Club is on the ground floor, a gym, pool, hot tub and sauna, all available for hotel guests. My only complaint, and it’s a very small one, is that our mattresses were so hard. I would absolutely stay here again.

I am so glad I booked our stays at this hotel. We were immediately greeted at reception by a super friendly, welcoming employee named Tina. We had a rough time flying across the country so this was so nice to arrive to. The kids loved the humungous pool and hot tub. A lot of seniors use it for exercise so we just made sure to give them space. We ate breakfast at Fathom and it was delicious and found the prices reasonable especially for the quality (and convenience). I hadn’t planned on using the underground parking but when the time came, it’s just easier and less hassle so I didn’t mind the small cost. The location is amazing, quick walk to fisherman’s wharf, the downtown core and right across from the harbour , my kids loved watching the seaplanes coming and going! We stayed before and again after a trip to Tofino and were welcomed back just as friendly as the first night. All employees met us with smiles and hellos. The beds were comfy and the hotel was very quiet which I really appreciate. I signed up for their rewards program and it was worth it for sure, and I would 100% book this hotel again if we ever go back to Victoria and I would highly recommend to anyone!

Google
note here for a meeting that was very long everyday in another location so that is the lens this review takes. I didn't even have a chance to check out what looked to be a great exercise and pool area. The room was quite and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was cozy and in a great location. Everything was clean. So the baseline is pretty good. I had a lot of small issues. Not enough power outlets in the room. Not enough lighting in the room. No coffee or tea in the lobby. Internet requires reauthentication at least once a day. Asked for no room service but they still came everyday. Overall I'd be on the fence about staying again, I would definitely investigate other options, but quite, clean and a nice bed is worth a lot.

Our family really enjoyed our stay here. The location is great, there is free overnight parking on the street (hotel parking is $23 which we used the first night, read street parking signage carefully), all the staff are super friendly and helpful, and the restaurant Fathom’s breakfast is so delicious (mushroom Benedict!) that we had it every morning in the gorgeous heated terrace area. Shout out to Ken who was the most attentive server. Ask the front desk for the $25 voucher deal (saves you a few bucks for adults). They also have a kids menu. This is a traditional 5star hotel in that they have everything- pool, gym, fridge and coffee tea in the room, restaurant and cafe and superb service. I couldn’t give it a full 5star experience because the rooms need a deep cleaning, and things like the old creaky sofa bed needs to be replaced in the lovely and well laid out 1 BR Victoria suite. It was still very comfortable for our family of 3 and I would definitely recommend the Grand Pacific and return to it again. Few hotels have a lovely balcony so this was so nice to get fresh air. The website was also easy to use and they had lots of different offers. A family member did not like the Delta, in comparison. Don’t hesitate to book if you find a great deal (on their site or bC ferries deal or iprefer member)!

Google
The hotel and overall service were very good, and I had a pleasant stay. However, I was expecting more in terms of basic health and wellness support. Around 8 PM, I went to the lobby to ask for a painkiller for menstrual pain and a sanitary pad for my partner. I assumed the hotel would provide these essential items, but the concierge directed me to a Thrifty Foods store about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. It would be helpful if the hotel could keep a small supply of basic wellness items, such as painkillers and sanitary products, so guests don’t need to leave the property for urgent needs, especially at night.

Yelp
Stayed over the BC day long weekend. My sisters and I took up 3 suites on the 7th and 8th floors. One suite had a big balcony with incredible views of the Empress hotel, Harbour and parliament building. The other suites were right on top of each other and had views of the fireworks. Definitely recommend harbor view room for a place as picturesque as Victoria. Love love love that they accept fur babies here. However, our room wasn't supplied with the doggo food/bowl/bed as noted on their website. Didn't bother to ask as we brought our own food and they slept on the bed anyway. The underground parking is quite tight. Beautifully located next to the parliament building. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The shower head was terrible.. was shooting water in every direction all at once. The shower gel and shampoos smelled divine. Service was good. Enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Yelp
Really nice experience at this hotel. Amazing location - directly across the street from the Clipper. Really nice staff - they were able to check us in earlier than we thought and went out of their way to be discreet about a surprise wine and chocolates plate I bought for our anniversary. Lovely view - every room has a balcony and ours had a peekaboo view of the water. And we had the best night's sleep I think I have ever had in a hotel bed. The hotel is a bit older and more dated than some other hotels around, but it's got character and fun quirks. I would definitely stay again.

Yelp
Nice comfortable room either lovely view of the water. Food was okay, but not miraculous. However we do recommend the hummus plate in the bar. Very good presentation and accompaniment.

Yelp
We stayed here because this hotel is within walking distance of the Clipper boat transportation from Seattle to Victoria and it's also within walking distance of plenty of area attractions. We didn't get time to explore the hotel very much but they have an on site restaurant and café as well as a pool although it was far too cold in Canada to go for a swim. Really beautiful hotel inside and out.

Lindsay L.

Yelp
The hotel is lovely and service is great, but I am addressing the food and wine. We had a very upscale, special celebration which moved from the bar to the restaurant. I ordered chicken because it came with a fennel salad. First, the chicken was frozen, premade, dry and reheated. It was the worst meal I've had in Victoria. There was no "salad." There was not even enough to fill a small plate of fennel and it did not qualify as more than a slight garnish. Very poor quality and execution. The wine list is only Canadian. As a somelier, I realize we have some great wines but I want an Italian , or NZ. The ice cubes in the cocktails are ridiculous and ruin the drinks. Alcohol needs an even distribution. Again, great service, but very low marks on food and wine menu.

Yelp
Run, don't walk away from this hotel. They are not honorable. I don't even think they are Canadian. They certainly don't act like it. There was a screw up in my reservation. The booking manager called me back and said, "with regards to your reservation I'm just letting you know that these reservation was made online and it synced directly into the system so it was with a third party booking so it came as an active booking until yesterday so if you have any issues with the booking you have to contact or go back to the same channel where you book" ... well I called trip.com who were wonderfully understanding and thought they could back out the reservation and make it for the proper night but the hotel didn't allow it. Even after trip.com thought it could be done. This place is way way over priced for what it is, and there are plenty of other hotels in the vicinity that offer a much better deal. The seven people that we have staying at the hotel heard about my ordeal and will never book here again.

Yelp
Bell man will tell you to wait 10 to 15 minutes to pull your car when you use their valet service with 30 dollars per day. Bath tub smells terrible.

Yelp
Located right beside James bay, the views are beautiful. Does get a little noisy with the emergency vehicles, but easily ignored. Pool and spa were closed when we visited, but a newly renovated restaurant is gorgeous. Hotel offers EV parking and is within walking distance of many popular restaurants and entertainment spots as well as sight seeing destinations. Friendly and helpful staff made our stay enjoyable and easy while a beautifully kept and maintained hotel made it so comfortable.

Yelp
Fantastic accommodations, excellent service, from the front desk to the restaurant to the cleaning staff, top notch service and care. Great location. I was so impressed with this hotel, I cannot recommend highly enough. My kids and I were sad to leave!

Yelp
Given the response from the General Manager of the Hotel, essentially dismissing my experience, they are only reinforcing the idea that they are uncaring. Some people who have seen the hotels response have even categorized the GM's response as gaslighting. Least to say, they have certainly lowered their reputation amongst those that have seen their response, including many who attended the same event in Victoria and also stayed at that hotel. If that is how they choose to respond to customer opinions and experiences, it would have been best to not respond at all.

Yelp
This is our second summer staying here and our LAST!!! Management is horrible and unwilling to work with us to compensate for a room with very loud noise during quiet hours. The Coho ferry is so loud at 6am it sounds like loud bass for 20 mins when docking. It is not the horn that is an issue. We stayed in a harbor room last year and didn't hear it at all. We also arrived to an event that was noted in a letter in the room that would have loud music until 1am. Not how you want it start a $2500 stay. They couldn't even mention at check in or give anything for the hassle. How cheap. They penny pinch and refuse to give money back. Instead saying to deal with the third party we booked with. The suite is not well maintained. Dirty and old inside. Toilet kept flushing with cracked in half toilet handle. Mentioned it and they brushed it off that they need to remodel this side of hotel. It costs less than $20 to fix! No maintenance to fix it right away. I hope you don't have to deal with Rea. She was rude and unwilling to help unless we moved to another room. A family of 4 traveling from AZ that is not that easy. They didn't even offer to help. She offered free breakfast and said she would text us. Did not get a text afterwards. So $80 is all they're willing to comp. We travel a lot and it is rare to see this kind of lousy customer service. It's a run down hotel with extremely high rates.Go stay somewhere else where they won't try to compensate with free parking and avoid any responsibility. There are SO many choices in the area.

Yelp
Very disappointment in my experience with the hotel, its staff and the website description versus what I actually received.  Photos attached are from the room.   let's start with what the website tells you and reality.  We booked the Signature Harbour View King Suit.  Which states "Step Out Onto Your Private Balcony To Take In A Gorgeous View Of Boats And Floatplanes In The Harbour."  Our balcony overlooked the backside of the fountain.  Which to me looked like I was looking at the backside of a trash can area of the hotel.  So we didn't use the balcony which was what I was most excited about.  Sitting out having coffee in the morning and looking out at the harbour and at night with a glass of wine.  And a harbour view suit should not be on the 3rd floor when you hardly see the harbour and is so close to the restaurant patio that you don't have any privacy when opening you curtains.  It says 3rd floor but felt like 2nd floor.  Now the inside of the room.  The bathroom is not what's pictured on the website.  The website layout is completely different and more functional.  You can reach the towel from the shower in the photo but in reality it's on the opposite wall and can't be reached from the shower.   The shower grout was disgustingly dirty and moldy looking.  The sides of the shower/bathtub are very high.  I'm 6' and the sides went up to my knee.  I'm 45 and had a hard time getting in and out.  So this would not go well for kids, the elderly or anyone with a disability.  The towels, I didn't even want to use them.  They were so worn and crusty.  I expected soft plush towels and that wasn't the case.   Same with the bathrobes, the website mentions the bathrobes are plush and they are not even close to plush or soft.  The website also mentions slippers which I always use in hotels, and there were no slippers.   The layout of the room in some areas didn't make sense.  There's a lounge chair in the bedroom that prevents you from opening all the drawers of the dresser on one side.  And it's a couch chair so it's not that easy to move out of the way.   There was no trash can near the coffee station which is where you would want to use it.  No complimentary water bottles each day like I would expect even from a hotel half the price.  There is a fridge but no mini bar.  I've never been anywhere that doesn't have a mini bar.  Maybe it's a Canada thing but I've traveled to many other countries and they've all had mini bars.  You can hear your neighbors.  The walls must be pretty thin. We could hear people talking and kids yelling in the room next to us the entire time.  Not relaxing.   I went to Fathom one night to grab a couple desserts to bring up to the room.  The room service menu didn't include half the desserts on the menu so I grabbed them to go.  The gentleman at the host stand looked at me like I was an alien.  Repeatedly asked me if I was ok walking the plates myself to the room.  I mean that's what taking something to go is like.  After that I tried speaking to him twice, once thanking you him and he literally ignored me and didn't say anything back to me.  He wouldn't even look at me.  He turned his back to me.  It was horrifyingly rude.  When you walk in and out of the hotel throughout the day, none of the staff says high. They make eye contact and 80% of the time don't even smile.  This was for a milestone birthday and I was so embarrassed.  You pay this much per night for a room you expect high quality.  You see pictures and read descriptions for the room and expect your room to be that way.  Your hotel and room choice is based on these things. I regret not booking at the Empress like many, many friends had suggested I do.  Now I'm out hundreds of dollars for a hotel that was more like a 3 star hotel.  A hotel that falsely advertised the room I would get.  A 50th birthday celebration that included conversations about how awful the hotel was which was again, embarrassing and shouldn't be a topic when you're trying to celebrate a milestone birthday.  I suggest you think twice before booking this hotel.  The only positive is that it's in a decent location to everything and the people of Victoria were so nice everywhere else.

Yelp
Warm and friendly staff, excellent restaurant, convenient location and clean. I would definitely choose to stay here during my next visit to Victoria.

Yelp
This hotel is in a really great location. Right across from the ferry and easy walking distance to a lot of things. Our room was on the 10th floor and had a balcony with good views. Unfortunately we booked a room with two queen beds and got to the room to find a king bed. Upon returning to the desk we were told that no 2 queens were available and weren't guaranteed due to booking through a third party. Maybe a word of caution not to book through a third party but I looked through all of the third party documents and didn't see anything stating that our room request would not be honored. It is presumptive to assume persons traveling together want to share a bed. So one of us had to sleep on a short cot, meant for a child. The king bed was also really hard. The staff were really friendly all around and we had a couple good experiences at the restaurant Fathom. Be sure and tell them if you want your room cleaned as it seemed to default to no clean. We are okay with not having room cleaned each day but need some toilet paper and trash pick up.

Yelp
We have been staying at the The Grand Paicific for quite a few year everytime we visit Victoria. Arriving by ferry the hotel is directly accross the street from the ferry terminal and is an easy walk to downtown and the harbor. The hotel is clean well appointed and the decor is understated. In our experiences we have found the staff to be cheerful, courteous and most helpful. We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant Fathom. Not every item on the Fathom menu is on the room service menu. Eggs Benedict at not on the room service menu as it was explained that the hotel cannot provide Eggs Benidict by room service while maintining the integrity of the dish. (meaning it didn't arrive hot enough.) Again from our Hostess when we entered Fathom to our waiter Michael everyone was very pleasant and efficient. We will retun to The Grand Pacific when we next visit the Victoria area.

Yelp
I stayed in this hotel on an overnight New Year's Eve trip with my pup, Fang. The service was far higher than I expected for the price I paid for the room. The staff was all incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they clearly loved their city. My dog got spoiled by the staff that greeted us, and we had so much fun in the Victoria room, facing the legislative building. Staff was pretty good about dietary restrictions, but I did have a few hiccups to start the evening on New Year's Eve. Understandable because they were so slammed in terms of orders. Would be great to have a few more suggestions at check out at places you can go with your dog, but definitely not a requirement. Great balcony, clean bathrooms, adorable decor, and high end set up. I will have to come back for more than one night next time. I would recommend this to dog owners for sure.

Yelp
The Hotel Grand Pacific is a Fabulous Hotel a very short walking distance across from the Victoria Clipper Ferry Dock. Wonderful Staff. Our 'Girls Trip' was booked as part of a 'Clipper' Package with tours. The website specified a room with 'either one king or two queens' but would not allow me to specify which I wanted. So that had to be done at the Hotel Front Desk upon check in. Which took a little extra time to put us in a room with two Queen Beds, but didn't seem to be an issue. We were given a corner Harbor View room with a balcony. Very nice. The room has very dated and worn furniture, probably dating to 1990. The website pics do show renovated and updated rooms as well, but those must not be what you get on a Clipper Vacation Package. Keirig coffee machine and hot water kettle, along with coffee capsules and tea provided, along with two bottles of water. Some coffee creamer (no expiration date on it so we didn't trust it), in the mini frig. Our room was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
We booked a night at this hotel and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and it is conveniently located. I like the little balcony with a view of Victoria. I stayed in and ordered room service so wanted to share photos of the delicious fare they offer. I was really hungry but needed to stay in so decided to try their room service. If you love seafood, you'll love their spaghetti vongole with squid ink pasta. I'm still thinking of how good it was! For dessert I ordered the chocolate "popsicle" cake. It is not frozen but rather layer of cake with mousse covered in chocolate. Every bite was so delicious. Highly recommend!

Yelp
this one deserves five star but few things are lacking that makes shaky 4 star. upon checking, the front desk offered upgrade to King suite with harbor view. My alternate was city view. $50 Canadian dollars later, we ended up with suite on 3rd floor. Our main view did have harbor view but our balcony view sucked overlooking back of the another building nearby. This one is located just across the Blackball Ferry Line and had nice view of the Victoria Harbor and close proximity the Assembly building the restaurants and bars on Victoria Harbor. Big thumbs up for the location. Our room has some cobwebs which was throw back for hotel of this caliber. Also the towel was less of quality. Everyone has different preferences but I prefer the solid, heavier and stiffer towers instead of light and fluffy which signifies cheaper kind in my opinion. Also the room came with robes which was big plus but didn't get to even try on. One serving Keurig coffee maker was a plus but nothing complimentary was offered. Valet parking is $25 verses self parking at $18. If you must save money and park for free, free parking after 5 or 6 depending on the area is offered nearby.

Yelp
Had a great 5 day stay here recently. The location was prime and close enough to walk anywhere. From here you could walk to explore the waterfront, explore all the tourist attractions nearby, or go towards edges of downtown Victoria (Chinatown) within 15-20 mins. The staff were courteous at all times. The Clipper ferry (barely 5 minute walk away) arrived at 10am and we were lucky to have been able to check in super early (maybe it helped we clicked the online sign up for rewards to allow early check in). All the pictures on Yelp seem older, but things are definitely newer. The room is modern enough and everything was clean. The bed was comfy, the bathroom very bright, and the room had all the amenities needed, minus a microwave. Definitely took advantage of the gym which had everything possible from cardio machines, free weights, squat rack and more. The pool and hot tub was great also, when not swarmed with kids splashing around. Definitely would consider staying here again when in the area. It may seem pricey, but for the most part you get what you pay for. The city view was a bit lackluster, but the harbor view I imagine would be awesome to upgrade to.

Yelp
I happened to be at this hotel due to an event this past weekend. I have retainers that I clean daily with hot water. I turned on the sink hot water and the water came out cloudy/murky/disgusting. I shown a video to the gentleman (Ifron or whatever his name is) worked there...and he had the nerve to say this was normal. After that statement, I said nothing else and walked away. I have pictures/video and will show anybody what I endured. This hotel is going to some type of magic to get me to stay here again. Days Inn is next door...

Yelp
I have to be honest. After looking at the photos posted on Yelp, I didn't have any good feeling about this hotel. Yes some of the old photos here made the hotel look really run down. To my surprise, its actually not that bad. Well they just recently renovated and also they don't use those ugly looking bedsheets anymore. They have upgraded their furnitures making the room look a lot more modern. The hotel is very clean. One thing that caught my attention is the giant bed. WOW that is like California king size bed. I rarely see a bed that big. The bathroom looks really nice and modern. Only issue I have is that when I stay at a hotel, I like to keep the washroom lights on and wow that light was super bright. They had the mirror right in front of the bathroom and the lights reflected onto the bed from the bathroom. Also the AC/heater/fan is very loud. I couldn't stand it and at the end, I turned everything off. Staff are very friendly. There was one thing that freaked me out a bit but later became a laugh. When I checked in, I was told my room was 451. Yes I went looking for room 451 and I found room 450 and then it jumped to 452. I thought I was missing something and did get some one walking by to check as well. Yes he couldn't see room 451. They actually made a mistake, my room was actually 415. My stay was very pleasant. I forgot my toothbrush and toothpaste and they bought them up in a timely manner. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel for one night during my stay in Victoria. I really wanted to like this place as the pictures looked beautiful but I left disappointed. First off, when I was taking a shower, there was hair in the tub which freaked me out. Then the shampoo and conditioner weren't newly replaced and there wasn't a new roll of toilet paper either. I've been to plenty of hotels and know that this isn't acceptable. It's also really expensive to eat here. Overall, this place is just okay and I don't think it's worth the high price tags.

Yelp
Oh, my gosh! We couldn't had picked a better hotel. Starting with location, this place was easy to find and just perfectly located that we pretty much walked everywhere. In the early morning while the teens were getting ready, my husband and I walked along the parliament building that's just across the hotel. The streets are lined with pink trees. It was dreamy. There's a Starbucks in the corner across if you need your fix. ;) The staff were amazing! So accommodating, and so helpful. Checking in and out was a breeze. After checking out, my son remembered he left his chocolate souvenirs on the fridge so we walked to the front desk and allowed us in no prob and with a smile on their faces. We asked for extra toiletries since we were four and were speedy in delivering extra for each one of us in the room. The actual hotel was so clean and well maintained. Seriously, have you smelled clean- like the commercials? The rooms smelled clean without smelling like chemicals. I did not try the restaurant since we wanted to go and eat out, again, perfect location since we walked to and fro to our destinations. Victoria has become one of our favorite places to visit. Would stay here again in a heart beat.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay here! I was reading reviews the night before our arrival and was mildly concerned but all of that went away once we arrived. The location is unbeatable as we were literally across the street from the Clipper terminal negating any need for a car. We checked in upon arrival knowing our room wasn't likely to be ready and planned to drop our bags...it WAS ready!!!! Very pleasant surprise! We were in a renovated room with a balcony which was nice to get fresh air and enjoy the view. Even the elevator had a view of the Harbour which was so neat! Our kids enjoyed the pool area daily and it was a great way to reset. I wished I had brought my suit to join them as it was quite warm in that area thanks to the atrium style (not a complaint!). The deck needs a little more attention near the drains where dark sludge had built up but maybe that looks different once the pool area is empty at the beginning and end of the day. We were always in mid to late afternoon. We enjoyed pre-ordering off the Amenity Menu so we could have some treats in the room they day we arrived. It does need to be updated as we were expecting 2 cookies and a milk per order of Kids Milk & Cookies but received two cookies and two milks total. I think this might be as they transition and update the property as we were also told a fridge would be $10 and brought to the room. When we arrived in room it was built into a cabinet as we are used to from other accomodations. At checkout we were asked if there was a fridge in the room already or if we had a 2nd one brought in...since just the one with the room the charge was removed without us asking which was appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay in this clean, comfortable and well-located hotel and are looking forward to our next stay!

Yelp
6/30/19-7/3/19 One thing I quickly discovered here, is that there isn't a washer and dryer machines in this hotel. This was a let down because we have clothes to was the would not be ideal for dry cleaning. The blood or shit stain finger print was not a nice thing to see as we were getting ready to brush our teeth. We saw this after we requested no room service. Because we did not get room service, we were given vouchers to the restaurant four the number of days we are hear and by number of people in the room. Not bad, but I will let the front desk know, so no one else has to look at that.... On another note, tomorrow is Canada Day, and it will be an experience to see the parade from our deck lounge. 7/1/19 Well there is no prade, but there will be fireworks once the sun goes down. I look forwards to getting photos of this tonight. I found out that getting as microwave sent to your room costs 10 bucks for your entire stay. Cool. The pool/gym looked inviting, but I did not pack a swimming suit. The thought had occurred to me, but I just didn't get my ass in gear and bring one. Also the men's locker room looked clean enough, but knowing a lot of bare feet are touching the ground, I would want to wear some sandals to protect my feet. The towel lady I saw wasn't out spokenly friendly, but will answer your questions if you have them. Remind me of Rosie The Riveter from Blue Fox Cafe. The fire works were pretty loud and I could hear it from my room. However, I could only see some of the fireworks from a reflection of a near by window. I got outside just in time to see the last of the fireworks go out. Que Sera Sera they say. 7/2/19 After 2 times of getting a pitcher of sparkling water from the restaurant, I asked for one more pitcher tonight for my dinner in our room. Since we were not eating at the restaurant, I was charged $4 something for the pitcher. It's a fine and dandy. The bartender was cool and very helpful. I appreciate the service he provided. We may be back to the restaurant one more time before we leave the hotel and Canada. Our trip back home might be a challenging one, but I will write about it later on. Gotta get some sleep. 7/3/19 Today I wear the socks along with the Canadian Jersey sold for Canada Day. I also have a black maple leaf cap to wear with my black Victoria Canada vest. I am definitely having a Canadian day. I just shout tourists. That's okay. I am comfortable looking like a tourist, because I am. Went to get breakfast and noticed a lot of the Americans who arrived when we did have left already. Also noticed five years ago, I saw very little ethnicity in Victoria Canada. Five year later we are back and I have seen a tremendous increase of ethnic background. This is a good thing. Well, it's time to check out and I am expecting an interesting return experience. Stay tuned.

Yelp
We stayed at Hotel Grand Pacific for one night, enjoyed a magnificent view of Victoria downtown, sea/water, and Port Angeles, Washington State, where was just across the water. The hotel had a magnificent entrance, gorgeous lobby and exceptional hall. Our bedroom was large, comfortable, well set with two beds. With sitting area, modern closet, and rational bathroom. Wi-Fi was strong and easy to connect. Service was responsive when needed. Tasteful continental breakfast. We have enjoyed 2 days' stay

Yelp
The hotel was lovely. Service was excellent. Ambiance of the lobby, view of the harbor and dinner in the restaurant was truly a wonderful experience. Dinner was perfect. A quiet place to converse with my husband over dinner after a long day of travel and sightseeing. I had the chicken roulade with oyster mushrooms, crispy kale and maple glacé over a wonderful bed of a type of corn polenta. Not sure what the corn was, but I had to refrain from licking the plate. My husband got the halibut which was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful as well. We left our phones in our room.... thus no pictures. We split a watermelon mojito dessert. Chiffon cake, served with lemon curd, watermelon sorbet with rum whip and shortbread croutons. Beautifully presented and a perfect ending to our meal. I would recommend the Hotel Grand Pacific without reservation to everyone.

Yelp
For Afternoon Tea Only: I called and booked our Afternoon Tea a few weeks ahead of time, because reservations are required. When we arrived, there was a slight snafu with our reservation (it not existing, which was a little panic-provoking), but they were incredibly accommodating and were able to offer us a table. And that's where the flaws end. Even though they were not expecting us, the whole staff was warm and professional the whole time, not making us feel out of place at all. Our server poured our tea (!!!) and offered to switch our blends if we ended up not liking them. We loved them, and when the food came out we were all thrilled with the offerings. There was so much food that we needed to-go bags at the end. Overall we had a great time, and were thankful that they were able to host us for the afternoon.

Yelp
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Check in was unorganized and took forever. The front desk employees were nice but not helpful with advising guest on hotel amenities or recommending where to go or what to do in downtown Victoria. The hotel's lobby is lovely however the rooms are out dated and need a refurbishment. I would stay here again only for the location. It is located nearby tourist attractions and restaurants downtown. We walked almost everywhere which allowed us to better explore and sight see.

Yelp
This is my second time staying at the Hotel Grand Pacific and it is just as great as my first stay. The hotel is just a block away from the Victoria Clipper terminal and offers stunning views of Victoria's beautiful inner Harbour. The staff is very friendly and kind. The room was comfortable and clean and had a nice little balcony to relax on to take in the view.

Yelp
We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Grand Pacific over Labor Day Weekend and it was wonderful! Excellent service, beautiful suite and gorgeous view. The food was outstanding and the gym facilities are top notch. Excellent location - .2 miles from the ferry and all the sights of downtown Victoria - so easy. Given staff shortages, I expected glitches - but nothing. Perfect stay and excellent service. We will be returning on our next visit to Victoria. Highly recommend! Particularly if you have kids. Suites were perfect - roomy and comfy and reasonably priced.

Yelp
The Grand Pacific is a conveniently located exquisite hotel. We took a two day trip on the Victoria clipper from Seattle. It was so nice to find a pet friendly hotel that our dog enjoyed as much as we did. We entered the room and there were a pair of food dishes and treats awaiting her. This isn't something you see very often anymore. They work closely with the Clipper and will hold your bags for an afternoon pending your trip.

Yelp
The hotel is a great location...walking distance to Fishermans Wharf, Chinatown and to downtown. It is located directly across the street from the Black Ball Ferry terminal and close to Victoria Clipper terminal and Kenmore Air/Harbor Air terminals. We flew in via Kenmore Air so this is the main reason why we picked Hotel Grand Pacific. Kind of wished we stayed at The Empress (Fairmont). The checking to Grand Pacific was nice enough but we did not get the greeting I would expect from a hotel like this when you are paying $300+ per night. Meaning they weren't overly friendly. It just felt like going through the motions. The room (Signature King Harbor view) was nice enough but needs a bit of new paint and grouting in the bathroom. Would probably stay again but would expect the same and nothing fantastic.

Yelp
We had afternoon tea today at the Grand and were very disappointed. The tea cakes and bread based items we're stale and not made today as I was told on the phone, when I booked. Several of our guest would not eat the seafood items. I know it is off season, if they have to use old items they should not provide the service.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay here: -quiet rooms--no sense of movement above or beside us. Loved the privacy of the quiet here. -firm, comfortable bed with high-quality linens and comforter -fast, quiet elevator -clean and well maintained hotel and grounds -located on the harbor and close to all of Victoria's awesomeness -light blocking window treatments -small balcony to take in the city and the harbor -helpful service when we wanted it We will definitely return.

Yelp
Our first trip to Victoria and we choose the HGP as our hotel combined with our Clipper reservation. At first glance, and by looking at photos we thought we would be staying at a luxury type hotel. Not so much. Actually, not at all. We've slept better at The Best Western in Ocean Shores WA. I will say all the staff were kind and welcoming, but that's the only pleasant thing I can say. The beds (we had two rooms each with two queen beds) were as hard as plywood. I wish that was an exaggeration because then I'd not have been in so much pain the next day. One of the beds had huge visible lumps. I'm guessing those mattresses haven't been updated in decades. The pillows were very hard and lumpy as well, perhaps decades of other people's sweat hardening the cotton batting stuffed inside. At one point during my very unrestful night I contemplated using my down jacket as a pillow. There was one newer pillow with synthetic down in our other room that my boys argued over for a better part of an hour. One of the two coffee mugs hidden away in a wooden box on a table about a mile from an outlet to plug in the coffee maker was caked with brown flakes on the inside. The HGP has an amazing aquatic center with a huge lap pool, smaller kiddie pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. They would have been great to enjoy if there hadn't been likely 3x the safe level of chemicals in the water. My eyes are still burning over 24 hours later. There is no regulation controls on the steam room so it is basically just an endless stream of steam and the walls and pipes drip with scalding water. We probably would have sustained 1st degree or even 2nd degree burns had we stayed in there for any time, the over whelming smell of body odor and flatulence saved us from the inevitable burns. The sauna smelled equally, bad but without the scalding drips. We ordered dessert room service. Not much of a selection so we went with carrot cake. I've had better carrot cake in hospital cafeterias. It is even cut into a 2 inch square with a thin layer of frosting. I would not recommend the HGP.

Yelp
Love. This. Hotel. Travelled as family of 5. Our friends also stayed here with their with their two kids. Let me count the ways this hotel is your BEST option in Victoria: 1. Location! As close as it gets to the ferry or Clipper terminals. 2. Views, views, views! Get the harbor view room. Little balconies for sitting are just heaven when your feet are sore from walking. 3. Nice rooms. We stayed in a non-renovated room because we needed a rollaway and the newer rooms cannot accommodate them. We still had plenty of plug ins for all the tablets and phones. Two sinks, two mirrors. Fridge. TV. Side tables. Chairs for sitting (or piling your stuff on!) Iron, Board, robes...it is WELL appointed. 4. Friendly staff. Not a grouch to be found. David at concierge was especially helpful, alerting us to the amazing Beacon Hill Park nearby. 5. On site restaurant The Pacific really delivers. Room service or dining. Afternoon tea. They do it all well. 6. No fee to check baggage. So handy when check out is at 11 and your boat doesn't leave until 5! 7. Great pool downstairs. Lap lanes, baby pool and hot tub. Just plan on dressing for a sauna if you don't plan on swimming.

Yelp
Excellent property with high standards. Premier suite with Inner Harbor View was exceptional. Clean, sophisticated...would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
My major beef was about the quality of the TOILET PAPER in the Hotel Grand Pacific. I had to use at least 6 feet of TP each time - laugh your heads off - this is the truth. So I brazenly mention this in the lobby as we are about to depart and several others in our tour group spoke up. Our tour guide did not understand our complaint. I guess she got the extra-strong, extra soft version in her room. Several of our events were cancelled because of the roads, and we didn't have room service because of staff shortages - these were are manageable by the tour participants and we understood - but really, really cheap TP is unforgivable. The upside - we met some wonderful people, had great food wherever we went, I got reacquainted with a friend from high school, Jan and I took a long walk along James Bay, we got to Butchart gardens, found all 12 of the gifts, had a blast on the carousel, but none of this compensates for the very, very cheap TP in a 4 star hotel. We are hicks from the backwoods of this province and the hotel thought we wouldn't notice! Oh, yes - we still use catalogue pages up here - in our backhouses with the crescent moon in the door. Maybe I went overboard on this... But it's not political and not any of the other subjects that might raise hackles. It's about TOILET PAPER. I will send this email in almost its entirety to the 4 star Hotel Grand Pacific. We just arrived home and I am going through my emails. Just a bit road weary (12 hours on the road - never again). Forgive me but I am relieved to be back using decent TOILET PAPER, in a marble lined bathroom, with a flush toilet, hot-running water and no freakin' crescent moon in the bathroom door

Yelp
I spent three days in Victoria BC and had the pleasure of spending my three nights at the Pacific Grand Hotel. This was a special treat for me as it was my 50th birthday and I have never been to Canada so I was double excited. We were booked in a corner r room called the grand suite located on the seventh floor. It was a clean room but we were not feeling it as it was a little bit too small. I would have stayed in that particular room but my fiancé wanted something a little bit more 'wow factor" to celebrate my 50th. He called downstairs and immediately they upgraded us to the Songhees Suite. We had to pay a little bit extra per night for the upgrade, but man oh man it was well worth it! I just about dropped my jaw when we entered the suite it was enormous! it was equipped with a six person dining room table, a flatscreen television, A three-person couch, two single chairs, a desk overlooking the harbor. The room had three balconies you can access to see each different view from the suite! there are two French doors that separated the bedroom from the living room area. The lighting in the entire suite was beautifully lit. Warm colored lighting. The bed was king sized and very spacious. I found it to be quite comfortable. The pillows were also nice. You have 2 hanging robes in the closet along with slippers for your comfort. One of my favorite features was the heated floor in the bathroom. Never once did I experience a cold floor while visiting the restroom in the middle of the night. The other two great features were the ability to control the "do not disturb" and "housekeeping" alert from the thermostat on the wall as simply as a push of a button. One of the reasons I picked this Hotel not only was because I liked the way it looked on the website but also the close proximity it was to the Victoria clipper (our means of travel to Victoria). You definitely do not need a vehicle if you're staying in downtown Victoria by the harbor. You can catch a cab, or take a water taxi to various locations and also see the sights from a horse drawn carriage. This was truly one of the most memorable places I have stayed in my travels. Thank you again Hotel Grand Pacific for your 5 service and recognition of my birthday when I arrived. Also, one other cool thing was I got a stamp in my passport when I went through customs after arriving on the Victoria clipper.!

Yelp
We stayed at Hotel Grand Pacific from 7/20/18 to 7/22/2018. We had a city view room and what a spectacular view it was. I had fun sitting outside at the terrace or inside by the window early mornings or late nights just to watch the people, events, etc. I love how convenient the location was to downtown, Parliament, museum, Fisherman's Wharf, and Chinatown. It was my family's first visit to Victoria, BC and we had a wonderful time. I highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff are exceptional. I would like mention the housekeeping staff for their great customer service. I left a note that I needed more towels and chamomile tea, and that's what I got. Great place to stay and you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We had a weekend getaway from Seattle in Victoria and booked a double-queen room at Hotel Grand Pacific. The room was very spacious. The beds were very comfortable. The view was just amazing day and night from our window. There is a small deck you can stand outside. We can see the inner harbor and Empress hotel from our window. Even more amazingly, once you close the windows, it's super quite inside. The pool is in a different wing of the building but easily accessible through the lobby. There is a larg lap pool and a little kids' pool and has perfect temprature. Our 7 month old son had a blast experiencing pool for the first time. :) The best part is the convenience. You can walk to Empress for high tea, walk to Milestone by the water (a pub food restaurant) in minutes. The only downside of the stay was that the phone in the room was broken. Had to go downstairs when we need anything from the front desk. Overall I highly recommended this hotel!

Yelp
The front desk is really awful. They claimed that they do not give the group the "post cards" . I just wanna know did not the group pay for the housing? Worst of all, with the bad attitude. Such a high price but the bad service. View is not not that impressive as well.

Yelp
"No duct tap on my corridor carpet!" Checked in and was cheerfully greeted by Hiromi at the front desk who offered me a complimentary upgrade to one of their suites. Can you say "score?" I'm not sure why I received the upgrade but I think it is due to the fact that when I made the reservation initially I signed up to be a "preferred guest." So glad that I scored my stay at this hotel as I initially wanted to stay at the Fairmont Empress but it was totally booked and in retrospect - the Grand Pacific is more modern and in line with my tastes. My suite was in the center of the hotel with a view of the inner harbor and a beautiful view of the Empress Hotel. The view from my room was breathtaking at night as many of the buildings are lit up at night. Best of all this hotel is walking distance to the many shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, this review is based solely on my one night stay and check-in experience as I was unable to experience the other services that the hotel has to offer. In closing, I would definitely stay here next time.

Yelp
Checked in on the 31st for two days over New Year. Were able to check in at 12PM and got our room which was nice after traveling from Seattle. Staff were busy but extremely friendly. Stayed on the 10th floor which had a great view of the harbor and parliament building. Room was clean, spacious, with very nice furnishings and soft bed. We were amazed how quiet it was in the room, especially on New Years and the fact that there were parties being held at the hotel. The hotel was perfectly located for walking, around the harbor, or through the neighborhood to the park on the south side of Victoria. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Victoria that might be looking for some class and charm to their experience.
