Gratschwirt

"Housed in a building which dates back to the 16C and is part of the hotel of the same name, this Stube-style restaurant at the foot of the Tre Cime is typical of the Alto Adige, as is the simple, abundant regional cuisine served here. Highlights on the menu include dumplings in broth, herb-crusted lamb, apple strudel and the less traditional but excellent beef tartare which is seasoned at your table." - Michelin Inspector

This is probably one of the nicest hotels to stay in. It's family ruined and they take pride in how they run he hotel. The rooms are very spacious with a big bathroom with showers and hot warm all the time. The breakfast buffet was amazing every morning with some much to choose from. And then a 3 course meal in the afternoon. And the menu changed every day. The staff are so nice. They help you with anything you need. There's a hot tub out the back for them sunny days to relax. And there's also a swimming pool with a sauna and steam room that can be put on for you on request. I had a lovely 12 day stay here and I would return and stay here again no problem. Everything is so close . Hopefully I'll be back one day.

Let's start with the (only) bas: we had to change rooms as we staid for two nights and payment via booking/Amex was not seamless.||The room is normal and the hotel looks like a traditional Heidi type chalet. The breakfast is just wonderfull with a lot of various dishes that are excellent.||The dinner is just amazing: fantastic Italian antipasti, a nice slad that changes every day, then a delicious primi piatti and a great secundi piatti: the diner is worth staying at this comfortable hotel on a half board way; not cheap but food is plenty and excellent . The staff is very nice.

We stayed at the Gratschwirt for the Mexican Alpine Ski Championships in Dobbiaco and Taistens. The location was perfect. They allowed our dog and put us on a level to let the dog outside to pee. The breakfast was fantastic. Great service. Friendly. Nice beds. Spacious rooms. The hallways have their own special magic. I recommend checking this place our at least once in your life. Especially ski racers!!

Excellent food and very good service. Typical Tyrolean food with great attention to details. The place helps to keep old recipes and traditions alive. The lovely lady that seems to be the owner speaks multiple languages, sit the customers, fix the tables(literally) and takes the orders. The young waiter and waitress are very polite and friendly.

We stayed in Dobbiaco/Toblach for one night only in June, escaping the heat of the town, and I liked the hotel room a lot, actually it would be very good for a winter stay: large, well equipped, very clean room. Large bathroom - looked fairly new and very well kept. Our room was booked as a category B, but we ended up in a suite which is what I'd want for a winter stay if you ski. Breakfast was excellent. Generally I was surprised that it ranked as 3 stars, as services are more 4 stars. ||The suite we were in was overlooking a back alley, but note that the Hotel (although not noisy at all) is on the main street, so I would still pick a room with view of the mountains, not of the valley - it has less sun but you see/hear almost no traffic.||We did not dine in the hotel, our stay was too short.||Prices are not cheap, considering that slopes are not close, but this is a pretty pricey area nevertheless. I see that garage is not included in the rate, and in the winter it can make a difference. No Wifi in the rooms.

Our first visit to the village of Dobbiaco in the Dolomites of Northeastern Italy was a pure joy thanks in part to the Pircher family. Their small hotel with a beautiful, new indoor pool and excellent food provided great comfort after a day of cross-country skiing. Don't let the 3 stars fool you. Our room in the new section of the hotel was every bit as nice as those in most any 4-star luxury hotel. But even more impressive are the the personal attention and service the owners gladly give.

We stayed for 4 days in February to cross-country ski, and we ate extremely well, for a relatively low price. Even the wines recommended were lovely and reasonable. The hotel is very well maintained, the welcome is friendly, the pool and spa well-appointed.
