Le Vivarais

"Located in the heart of the city, right next to the casino, this Belle Époque grand hotel stands out from its surroundings. Its classic and elegant restaurant serves seasonal French cuisine made with good fresh produce, often locally sourced. Impeccable, friendly service. Spacious terrace shaded by plane trees at the side of the hotel." - Michelin Inspector

We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at this hotel while touring the Ardèche. The hotel is modern, the rooms spacious and clean, the bathroom well equipped. The bed and pillows very comfortable, a true plus for me. A nice sized pool is located on the grounds, which because of the weather we did not use. The hotel has an elevator, which is useful to those who can't use stairs. I was most impressed by the staff, who were always pleasant, answering questions or fulfilling requests. We did not dine at the restaurant, only because the menu was limited for our tastes. It looked lovely and||seems to be the place that the local clubs gather to host month meetings. I would recommend Hotel Helvie for families or business travelers since it is very convenient.

This is a wonderful little gem. Very old fashioned charm. Our rooms were lovely very well furnished with lots of class. Sadly we only stayed one night but slept well and woke up refreshed. The kids enjoyed the hotel pool but could of gone into the town pool next door as well. The town we think has had better days it was a little run down and very quiet in the evening. We choose not to eat in the restuarant as it was expensive with not a huge choice. We also had a fussy teenager with us who did not fancy tuna or rabbit. However we did have a drink at the very well run bar. The hotel has a front terrace and a rear terrace perfect to sit in and unwind after a long drive.

We were looking for somewhere to go for a weekend away and upgraded our programme to include dinner at the hotel which was a wise choice. We received a friendly welcome from the hotel staff. The room was clean and spacious, as was the bathroom. Breakfast was great. Unfortunately, the weather didn't allow us to use the outside tables. Photo of the back of the hotel from the park.

After visiting Six hotels in Vals les Bains we were happy that this hotel finally looked perfect. They gave us a very good reduction. The room was small but very nice, the bathroom beautiful and practical. The breakfast had a lot of good quality items which we enjoyed. And last but not least there was free safe parking on the property. The restaurant was superb! And we had a good swim in the morning!

We were looking for a hotel near Aubenas and found this one, we had expected a one horse town but were really surprised to find a brilliant small town with thermals springs. The hotel is well situated within to town and close to all the sights. It has a small pool which is great after a long journey. The rooms are charming, typical old style French with balconies and the staff are keen to please. Dinner in the restaurant is superb, it is the only restaurant where I have had a pre-dessert, dessert! Definitely worth a visit and there are lots of really interesting sights to see.

This truly is a lovely French provincial hotel, charming, rustic and bursting with character. Hotel manager Edward runs a very professional team who are all very helpful and as a bonus for us most speak very good english. The breakfast run by Joanna in the morning is truly one of the best french hotel breakfasts we have ever had , with excellent espresso coffee, home made jams and a good range of fresh breads and pastries. The highlight is always dining at the hotel restaurant "Vivarais" which has now been awarded 1 Michelin star. We have dined here 3 times before and it has always been excellent regional food and wine in a fine dining establishment at a reasonable price.. We were concerned that it may have been a lot more expensive due to the Michelin star however we enjoyed a wonderful 4 course meal with aperitifs and fine local wines for around 70 euros per person, excellent value when compared to Paris standards! The rooms are clean and cosy and you feel like you are staying in a grand hotel from a bygone era. Thank you ||Edward for another delightful stay at Hotel Helvie
