"Set in the centre of a Black Forest village, this restaurant dating from 1748 serves excellent, classic, regional fare. Try the cassolette of prawns and scallops, the glazed veal sweetbreads or the venison and pinot noir stew. The attentive host ensures a pleasant atmosphere. There are also some individually designed, upmarket guestrooms." - Michelin Inspector

We stayed here for one night on our way back from the Black Forest. What a lovely welcome we received from the owner who came outside to introduce himself and show us to our room. Our room was spacious with a bathroom almost as big as the room. Everything wa spotlessly clean, our only disappointtment was that the restaurant was not open on Tuesday's and we had read reviews about how good it was. Nevertheless we found somewhere close by to eat which was nice. After a peaceful night in very comfortable beds we had breakfast which in 12 days of touring Germany was the best yet. The lady of the house cooked us eggs with speck which were delicious and there was a good range of other items on he buffet. On leaving both the lady of the house and the chambermaid waved to us from the windows, another lovely personal touch. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough just make sure you don't visit on a Tuesday and then you can sample the restaurant menu.

Schwarzwald and its beauty has been soaked in by the Gasthof Hirsch, such a comfy place, so quiet and homely. But so modern and professional too. Excellent rooms with views to the main street and the Buchhandlung Klaussner as well as to the hills beyond the Hauptstrasse of Schramberg. The church clocks chime the hour and the overall ambience is medieval, though modernity is right at your reach. The restaurant is superb and you can take a look into the wine kellar too... with vintage wines. I stayed from 31 Oct to 2 Nov 2014. The rooms are elegant though the Gasthof is really old.

Together the fine dining, elegant motif, and service makes you feel at home. I had an incredible 5 course menu that included a superb grilled shrimp and marinated salad, turbot filet, veal filet, and creme brulee. The dishes were all artfully served. One of the best restaurants I've been to in Germany so far. It's a very charming and warm place. I would definitely recommend it.

Family owned small restaurant. Excellent service, nice ambience, spotless clean, and attention to details. Margarete and Thomas Weber know they business very well. Interesting wine list, I recommend their Grauburgunder (Pinot Grigio). Rostbraten vom Schwarzwaelder Weidering was perfectly cooked topped with mushrooms and crunchy simmered vegetables as side. Chocolate fondant cake (one of the four components of a chocolate variation dessert) is to die for.
