We stayed at Hotel Indigo Inuyama and absolutely loved it. This beautifully appointed hotel sits in one of Japan’s lesser visited yet highly recommended towns — Inuyama — where history, culture, and creativity meet in the most charming way.
From the moment we arrived, the warmth and pride of the local people shone through every interaction. You can really feel the town’s spirit in the food, hospitality, and craftsmanship surrounding you. The hotel does a wonderful job of celebrating local traditions from dishes in the kitchen that highlight regional produce to the handmade crafts and decor displayed throughout the property.
Just outside, you’ll find Inuyama Castle, the Joan tea house, and the Kiso river, all must-see cultural experiences. If you’re lucky, you can even watch the local fishermen using the ukai method catching fish with the help of trained cormorant birds , a truly amazing sight.
The rooms and service are top tier, with exceptional attention to cleanliness, comfort, and thoughtful detail. After a day exploring the castle town (and perhaps Cocotomo Farm), the hotel’s bar, restaurant, and garden are the perfect spots to unwind while sampling the local fare.
A huge thank you to the Hotel Indigo Inuyama team for their care and hospitality. We’ll absolutely be back and highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable stay in Japan
