Hotel Indigo - Stratford Upon Avon (Stratford-upon-avon, UK) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Hotel Indigo - Stratford Upon Avon isn’t just located in Shakespeare’s hometown, it’s set right across the street from New Place, the playwright’s final family home. As such it’s positively steeped in Tudor charm; the building incorporates elements that date back to the 15th century, and however contemporary its interiors may be, there’s never a shortage of antique atmosphere." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel Indigo Stratford-upon-Avon | Best places to stay in Stratford-upon-Avon

"Dating back to the 16th century, this revamped Stratford stalwart is ideal for those who want to immerse themselves in Stratford’s literary heritage. Behind the original Tudor black and white frontage, this is a very 21st-century affair, with rooms spread across the 16th-century building, a Georgian townhouse and a new wing. All feature Hypnos beds, spa-style bathrooms and Egyptian cotton, making these some of the luxiest rooms in town. The Woodsman restaurant is carnivore heaven, with old-breed beef and lamb, and locally-produced venison all on the menu. A post-dinner nightcap in the Falcon bar, home to a mind-boggling array of whiskeys, is the perfect way to finish the night. It’s located right next to New Place, Shakespeare’s former home, and is an easy walk from the other main sights and the Royal Shakespeare Company theatre. " - Annabelle Thorpe

Absolutely wonderful hotel, a real hidden gem! The staff are so friendly & helpful, the rooms are beautiful, compact but very stylish. Lots of lovely little extras like fresh milk, complimentary drinks & snacks and super luxurious toiletries. We had a wonderful stay & won’t hesitate to stay again in the very near future!

Stayed here on my wedding day & night and the level of customer service we experienced was outstanding. Danny the manager was an absolute legend. He made sure we could check in as early as possible so that I could get ready and drop off my dress etc early. He went above and beyond. The room was gorgeous, super clean, and the aircon was a godsend. I couldn’t have dreamt of a better place to stay for our special wedding day. Location is perfect too plus the grounds are beautiful.

All around a good stay. No complaints. If I had to critique, the menu at the woodsman was a little small and a bit challenging to find an item for a picky eater, but the steak was great and there were plenty of great options nearby. The rooms were amazing. Huge bathroom. Temp took a while to change (AC unit in main bedroom. Not in smaller bedroom. But it cooled itself) garage and lot parking, gym was satisfactory. Wonderful architecture

Fabulous customer service! A great experience staying in this hotel. I really enjoyed the subtle references to Shakespeare in the decor of the room. I would love to stay here afain if I'm ever find myself in Stratford upon Avon once again!

Such a great experience. Work trip and happily received a room upgrade to a beautiful room across a courtyard! Tudor features, with a chandelier!! Great fully received a free mini bar which I then finished off some emails with a beer. Sat at the bar for dinner. Recommended the Fish & Chips which were delicious and made other patrons want some!! Will definitely be back and have recommended to everyone I’ve talked too!!

It was a bad experience. Room was not good. Window connection of mobile cooler was totally disaster. It was loose and had no proper installation so no security no isolation from noise outside. At 6am on the morning there was a bandit outside, people watching shouting. So all our sleeps failed badly. Incredibly uncomfortable. Breakfast hot part was not tasty at all. Only small breads were good. And buffet was also a failure. Breads were not topped up as they new customers came in. I don’t think it is any good value. I prefer to either stay at halo price any similar quality hotel or another similar hotel with much better rooms, better isolation, better breakfast against additional £50 payment for 2 adult and 1 child. Disaster room, we are given NO chance to see different rooms and do a preference.

We went out for what was meant to be a special birthday meal and ended up having one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. After spending over £400 on food and drinks, we politely asked if they could bring out a birthday cake we had brought with us. Instead of a simple yes or no, we were met with rudeness and were told we'd need to pay £40 just to have the cake brought out. Absolutely ridiculous and completely unjustified. What made things worse was the manager’s behaviour — not only towards us as paying guests, but also towards their own staff. He was openly rude, spoke down to the waitress in front of everyone, and belittled her to the point it made everyone at the table uncomfortable. It was genuinely upsetting to witness someone treat their staff that way. We left feeling disappointed, embarrassed for the waitress, and completely let down. For the amount we spent, we expected basic respect and a celebratory atmosphere — instead we got tension, poor service, and blatant disrespect. On a brighter note, the food was lovely, which was a credit to the chefs who were on shift. The waitress did an amazing job accommodating us during our visit, so a credit to her.

We received a very warm welcome upon checking in, and stayed in an attractive room in the Georgian part of the hotel, which overlooked Shakespeare's New Place. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, and the bathroom was very stylish. We had all a really good night's sleep and enjoyed a delicious continental breakfast. All the staff were helpful and friendly. We shall definitely stay again.
