You Should Stay at a Hotel in Venice

Absolutely wonderful hotel and a lovely experience! We stayed for a few nights and they upgraded us to a junior suite for free! The room was quiet and spacious with a very comfortable bed. The hotel was spotlessly clean, well air conditioned, and peaceful. The staff were all excellent and happily helped us with local recommendations. They kept our bags for us when we needed it, which was a huge help. The location of the hotel can’t be beat. The Sant’Elena neighborhood is wonderfully quiet and removed from the intensity of San Marco and the Grand Canal. It’s a beautiful neighborhood with quiet and friendly locals, and plenty of nearby restaurants where the only language we heard spoken was Italian. Further, the hotel is right by a water bus stop- perfect for travelers who want to be near, but not necessarily in, the biggest attractions of Venice. Overall, this hotel perfectly balances everything we were looking for and was well worth the price. I highly recommend this hotel for travelers looking for a lovely place to rest after a long day, but who still want to be within walking distance of the Arsenal and the heart of Venice. 10/10 would come back!

We really enjoyed our stay at the deluxe double room. The hotel team does an amazing job at making you feel welcome. Our room was very stylish and very clean. We loved that the location of the hotel was perfect for visiting Biennale and have some peace and quiet after a day out in the centre. The food and cocktails at the hotel restaurant are delicious! Side note: no coffee machine in the room, only Nescafe sachets, but they make a great coffee at the bar.

This was such a lovely hotel! As a platinum IHG member, I’ve stayed in a lot of their properties but this is one of my new favorites. The staff were so welcoming at check-in and the bar and restaurant staff were so incredibly friendly. The property has a lovely, modern design for the rooms and bar/restaurant an a beautiful courtyard area. It’s close to the water bus station (about 2 minutes) if you’d like to take it or a slightly long but lovely walk into town. It’s actually great that the hotel is a little bit away from the main sites as they get extremely busy and you will probably want a break after a long day of sightseeing! The hotel can also arrange private water taxi service that picks up on a side canal about 3 steps from the hotel lobby—which I would recommend—especially to and from the airport.

I found this hotel thanks to my credit card points and I’m so glad I did. The location of the hotel is away from the heavily visited tourist areas which was a relief. It was lovely to walk or take the ferry back to the hotel and escape from the hustle and bustle of the day. There’s a park just one block from the hotel and the few people we saw around the hotel seemed like local Venetians just going about their day.||In about 30 minutes you can walk along the waterfront and be in St. Mark’s Square. We are a family of 7 and it was an enjoyable walk. You can of course take the water ferry which stops literally a short walk from the hotel. If you are rolling your carry on you can easily do it.||All the hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. Ask them for a map (old school) and to write down for you on the map the ferry numbers that stop wherever you want to go. They also were great with telling us where the best restaurants and gelatos can be found and with making dinner reservations. There’s a nice street (Garibaldi) just a 15 minute walk from the hotel with many restaurant options so you don’t have to walk too far for a great meal.||The breakfast buffet at the hotel was terrific. We did not eat any other meals there as we were out sightseeing. I highly recommend this hotel.

Google
Beautiful boutique property in Venice. We stayed here for four nights and just loved it. The hotel bar and restaurant were beautiful, the cocktail bar served great drinks, and the rooms were beautifully decorated. We appreciated that we were just far enough away from the hustle of the touristic part of Venice - the neighborhood surrounding the hotel is peaceful and quiet and full of actual Venetians.

Google
The staff was extremely helpful. Our first time in Venice Italy and we are really glad we stayed here. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk from downtown. The walk is peaceful as you are on the Adriatic lagoon. We as a family like the fact that it is quiet at night and not dealing with the 1am crowd. The hotel is very clean and would stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Google
We had a fantastic stay! Really friendly staff and a great breakfast with vegan/gluten free options plus a peaceful location. The beds were comfy and the room was spotless. The location is perfect- located in a quiet part of Venice with good local food spots and just a 30 min water bus from the city centre (we used line 1). 100% recommend for a great trip to venice!

Google
We loved our experience at the Hotel Indigo in Venice. Dining in the restaurant did not disappoint and we love great food. The location was very good and we recommend buying a pass for the water shuttles. The history was interesting too. Choose this hotel and you will be glad you did.

Yelp
Very cute and thoughtful decor throughout the hotel! When I booked this hotel, I was afraid it might be difficult to get to given that it was my first time in Venice and unsure how the ferries worked. However, it was relatively easy once you get it! Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm smile but the room was not ready yet. However, given my Platinum Elite status, they said they will prioritize us first. The girl was very helpful by giving us a map and providing time estimates and where we could go while waiting. The room was alright. I found out that the AC is turned off in November but we went there end of October. The best they could do is unlock the windows for us to open it partially. Kind of surprised that HVAC systems were not readily available. I must be a spoiled American. There are water and fruits at the lobby 24/7 so that was nice. 1 star taken off for turning off the AC services earlier than planned, but most importantly for not encompassing of customer needs for a HVAC system that offers both year round!

Yelp
A wee bit out of the way from San Marco (the more central and touristy area), but walkable and there is a waterbus that drops you off very close, less than five minutes away. Yes, it's a best western, but it has a boutique feel and very modern. The rooms were really nice. There's an outdoor patio. Didn't really use any amenities or explore the hotel, but it was clean, modern and away from the hub bub. Also pretty easy to get to the airport. There's a restaurant and bar as well. The front desk is probably the only downside, depending on the receptionist. Upside, they did have a converter for us to use inside the room.

Yelp
The Hotel Sant' Elena is a wonderful hotel on the outskirts of Venice. It is part of the Best Western chain and part of their "Premier" collection and I can see why. It is a great place to stay for the following reasons: 1. It's away from St. Mark's Square so it is really quiet. 2. It is the middle of a residential neighborhood, so you feel like a local. 3. It's right next to one of the very few parks in Venice. 4. Dock nearby to catch a vaporetto. 5. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet. 6. The rooms were gorgeous with modern furnishings and dark hardwood floors. 7. Free Wi-Fi - Didn't experience that very often in Italy, so that was nice. 8. Nice and helpful staff. Directions: It's a 20 minute walk east of St. Mark's Square if you are heading toward Murano. The hotel is located right behind the Sant' Elena Park on the island called Isola di Sant' Elena. If you are walking on Viale 4 Novembre and heading east you would make a left on Calle Buccari. It is on the corner of Calle de Carnaro. P.S. There's a great little cafe on Viale 4 Novembre in between Calle Rovereto and Calle Buccari. I had the best pizza there. It's just a little hole in the wall that the locals go to, the prices are cheap and the food is great. If anyone knows the name, please send me a private message.

Yelp
This hotel gets a star for being on the isle of Venice. When shopping around it is very hard to make that distinction which is very important especially if you want to see Venice. Now the Hotel Indigo is interesting as I stayed in one last year in Old Alexandria Virginia and loved it. Once we arrived we learned it was formerly a Best Western only a couple of months ago. We arrived by public water taxi and it is on the quiet side mostly residential area. Once you get off the water taxi head straight ahead to your right. The walkway to the hotel was under construction. Once we arrived we were warmly greeted as both check in desks were occupied we waited. When it was our turn I was happy I printed out our reservation prior to our visit. Since our room was not ready they offered us a cappuccino and cookies and to hold our bags. Also they made a reservation for us next morning at 4:15 AM for a private water taxi to take us to the Airport. The cost 130 Euros for up to 4 persons personally worth the money. After sight seeing we came back to the hotel to find our bags were already delivered to our room. Also they had someone show us the way it was very polite and we appreciated the service. Now why only a four star rating? The thread count on the sheets was equivalent to sand paper. I can't imagine a hotel I stayed in recently to compare it to. Also the room was dusty there was a cobweb in the corner. So I was dead tired better sheets could have helped greatly also because of the dust my allergies kicked in so my head was stuffed. I would recommend the hotel as it was lovely just not for me for reasons mentioned above.

Yelp
Stayed here for 3 nights & loved the experience! Location can be an issue as its away from the happening sqaure, but public transport solves this issue. The rooms are good, fully renovated and good size. Staff is very friendly & helpful!

Yelp
Stayed here for 2 nights with family in November and overall were happy with the visit. Pros: clean updated rooms, good breakfast Cons: 30 minutes walk to main downtown area or any restaurant for that matter and staff are unfriendly

Yelp
This is a great hotel which offers good value for money in a not as crowded and touristic area of Venice but still a convienent stroll away from major sights and really near located to a water bus stop. Also commuting from an to the airport ist really convinent. The stuff is very helpful and manage to let you feel comfy all the time. Highly reccomendable

Yelp
The Best Western Sant'Elena was my new husband and my last stop on our honeymoon, and it was the only hotel we planned on staying at for more than one night -- they certainly did not disappoint! The room was tidy and beautiful, and had a nice modern feel. I think they recently renovated. When booking, you do have to understand that this hotel is not in the heart of Venice. I, however, realized that was maybe the most appealing aspect. It's only a water bus away from all the major sites (and there is a water bus stop right by the hotel). They also had excellent service. The whole staff was kind throughout our stay, and answered any touristy questions we had with kindness. On our last day, as we were on a water bus to the airport, I realized I had left my tablet in the room. Not only were they kind and helpful, but they, right away, did everything they could to make sure that my tablet made it back safely to the US. It was wonderfully, carefully packaged so that it would not break, and it did not appear there was any foul play whatsoever. They ended each email to me with, "We are at your disposal" which is above and beyond the call of duty. Just lovely! I highly recommend for anyone who has more than a night in Venice and can afford the extra five-ten minutes to reach the sites.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. We paid about 80€ a night. Very good price considering other places in town. Free wifi for customers and breakfast is included. ROOMS: small, but very functional. Ours had a queen bed, desk, closet, TV & bathroom. LOCATION: It's easy to get here. We used an express boat from the airport. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from the main square. Not bad at all. BREAKFAST: very European. There were eggs, some meats, fresh bread, fruit, juices & coffee. WIFI: very strong connection. Again, this is password protected for guests only. Great place. Would stay here again.

Yelp
This hotel is located in a quiet area of Venice but it's still located a couple of water taxi stops from major sightseeing areas and about a 15 minute walk from restaurants. The water taxi stop is just a few minutes away. Our room was huge, the largest hotel room I've been in. One of my big complaints with hotels is how early breakfast ends but at this place breakfast is until 11 a.m. which is really nice if you arrive late like we did and want to sleep in the next day.

Yelp
Tremendous facility. Everything you want and away from the maddening crowd. Not in the center of things but easy access to everything. Loved it.

Yelp
I stayed at the Best Western Sant'Elena a decade ago and was excited to come back. As soon as we decided to go to Venice, I immediately booked because of my previous amazing experience. The hotel was fine. The service was subpar to the last time, but it was fine. The food was lackluster the one night we needed it. We were barely in the room. We checked out of the hotel room and I realized I left my jacket in the room an hour after leaving. We called the staff to have them check the room and they said the jacket wasn't there. I'm 100% that I left it in the closet so it had to be there. I've never been a fan of blaming hotel staff when something gets stolen, but apparently it happened this time. I didn't have a jacket for a portion of the trip. And the jacket was a few hundred dollars. We are coming back to Venice later this year for two weeks, but I won't be there staying there again. Hugely disappointing, especially when the service was so fantastic the last time.
