"Set atop a verdant hill 15 miles west of San Sebastián, this country retreat is a seductive reason to leave the Basque city behind. Outside, vineyards lead down past traditional Basque farmhouses and the odd grazing cow to a coast carved with dramatic rock formations and dotted with lighthouses. Indoors, the view is no less idyllic. Well-appointed public areas—filled with inviting sofas and interesting art—make you feel like you’re in the home of a friend with very good taste. The illusion continues upstairs in the hotel’s eight rooms. The Art Nouveau zinc fireplace turned bathroom sink in the Zarautz Room is a good example of the hotel’s eclectic aesthetic: intriguing antiques combined with the occasional piece of modern art. Not everything is perfect—on a recent visit, one towel heater didn’t work and the Wi-Fi connection was spotty—but the warmly attentive staff make up for any glitches. The hotel lacks a restaurant (though a restorative breakfast is served in a sunny dining room)."

Stayed here for a weekend and can't wait to return! Everything was just textbook quiet luxury experience. The hotel is stunningly beautiful and classy: the rooms, the common areas, the pool, the garden, the views. It's also adults only and therefore really quiet and private. We loved how much attention they put into quality of everything that surrounds you, from furniture to food, from bathroom amenities to small details like embroidery on bed linen, towels and even slippers. It's only 4 stars because it doesn't have a restaurant or room service, and the front desk is not 24/7. Other than that it's a quality 5-star service.

A little slice of heaven in the hills above Getaria. What a lovely place to unwind and feel totally looked after. Although you need a car to get around we had room service and some lovely wine from their vineyard. Luxury, peaceful and away from the world. Wonderful

We booked the whole thing for our wedding and all I have to say is… What an amazing hotel! Apart from the beautiful rooms and spectacular views, the staff were very kind and accommodating. They made our stay with our families very special. We will definitely be back!

This hotel is graciously designed in a very personalized way, nothing cookie-cutter about it. It is beautifully sited above the charming town of Getaria with views out to the sea beyond. The grounds are expansive and landscaped with interesting plants and flowers. The common rooms are very welcoming with plush seating, warm lighting, and a well-stocked honor bar. Our bedroom and bathroom were both extremely comfortable and good sized. It was slightly drizzly when we were there and we found the hotel to be a warm and cozy oasis but I think it would be even more beautiful on a sunny day. Service was discreet but efficient. We felt very well taken care of. Getaria itself was a great discovery for us. We loved the way the sea crashes in, the great restaurants, especially Elkano, and the interesting history, including the Balenciaga Museum.

Beautiful small boutique hotel outside of Getaria. Lovely views, spacious rooms with beautiful decorations. Pool was refreshing! We added breakfast each day and it was a treat to sit outside and watch the sun and view of the ocean. Both evening and daytime concierges were exceptional with service. They both spoke very good English and went above and beyond with our requests. Food was excellent. Ordered some items one evening and some of the ingredients were fresh from the garden. The bikes are ok but not too of the line. Make sure you check them out before taking them out for a spin...air in tires, etc. Highly recommend a stay here if you are looking for a quiet weekend away or a romantic weekend.

We stayed for two nights in July. First impressions of the hotel were stunning. It is accessed via a secure gate and a beautiful driveway leads you to the front of the hotel, from which there is an amazing view across the vineyards to the sea. We received a friendly greeting and were shown around the ground floor area before being shown to our room. Whilst one of the most basic rooms the hotel offered, it was still very luxurious and met our needs very well. Breakfast on the terrace was amazing and we were well looked after again by the staff, who spoke perfect English. We used the pool during our stay and that was a welcome relief from the heat.||||My only gripe was that a family of two adults and three children were also staying during this time. This detracted somewhat from the peace and quiet that most people experience at this hotel, since they could not help but be noisy around the pool and at breakfast. I wonder whether the hotel has considered welcoming adults only, as this would provide the assurance to guests that they would have a peaceful stay.||||Nevertheless, we did thoroughly enjoy our stay at Hotel Iturregi and would definitely love to return some day soon.

The hotel grounds are massive and breathtaking. Between the view to the sea, the vineyards, gardens - you have it all. The rooms are very large and beautiful. We were able to the enjoy the pool for one afternoon before the rain arrived and it's just lovely. Extremely quiet and peaceful. There are wonderful hiking trails literally right off the hotel grounds. We were surprised with how well marked the trails were, which can be a challenge at times in Europe. The only "wish for" is more food options (outside of breakfast) being offered. We found that late afternoon, we would have loved a little happy hour bite / pintxos to hold us over before dinner. Especially as you're by the pool. They do serve small bites, but not until 7pm. We would have liked something available earlier than 7pm. ||If you're looking for a relaxing, beautiful and romantic place - this is it!
