HOTEL KARAE

I do not recommend this place. It is close to the station, but that's it. When you arrive there is a delicious scent of orange, but this is because the smells impregnate the place. The female dorm smells horrible after everyone is inside. The worst part though is the washing and drying machines. I used it to wash my clothes unfortunately and tell you: under no circumstances do the same. first it is written that the washer have an order for things but after it started it continued without the pauses said to have. And I had to rush to put my clothes in, while already started. The guy in reception had no idea how to use it. Then the dryer: I payed two times, for 60 minutes, and after it my clothes seemed more wet! The dryer is really slow (if it works at all) so after waiting, and having payed, I had to ask the guy for a place to hang my clothes as the machine was not doing its job and he offered me some hangers. I asked for 10. And he said he could only give me 5 and made me wait a long time while he put a sticker on each of them, writing individually: hotel (!!!!) As if I was going to leave with the hangers - ooorr, if the sticker was going to make any difference in case I decided to take them. I thought this was really absurd and disrespectful, it feels like a scam- really slow machine so to make people continue pay 100 yen, as it is the price per 30 minutes, since it seems cheap and they don't want to leave their clothes wet. So this is the type of pettiness you will find in this place. I truly don't recommend.

Stayed for one night during our motorcycle roadtrip, everything was good and the design of the building is very nice. The breakfast seems simple on the pictures, but several options are available for a small extra and it exceeded our expectations. Overall a good experience.

This review is for the ceramics/pottery shop that seems to be part of the hotel. It would be useful if it was listed separately since pottery lovers would appreciate knowing about this place, even though it’s in an obvious location. The selection here was exquisitely curated, featuring all local Karatsu artists. If I had more space in my luggage I would have brought back more. Shop does not offer tax free purchases for foreigners, but this was okay because the prices were reasonable compared to other shops.

Very nice hotel in a great location. Rooms were big & clean. They have bike rentals available. Only one complaint check out time is 10AM which is kind of ridiculous. Way too early, especially if you consider nothing is open in town until around 11AM. Little bit too expensive for such an early check out. Overall nice hotel.

Really nice clean great hotel! I stayed here as a guest of the Karatsu International Film Festival.

Clean, quiet, comfortable. The entire complex a little modern lung right at the heart of Karatsu , practically at the station and all restaurants, bars, shops.

Nice and relatively new hotel. The room was quite small and very basic though. Convenient location close to the station and near the main shopping and entertainment streets. Service was very mechanic.

We stayed 3 nights in deluxe room. Price was reasonable. Room was comfortable and clean. Location was perfect without a car.
