We stayed here as part of our Shikoku cycling tour. After a decent day of riding: 50 miles with 4,600 feet of climbing ( on regular bikes, though two in our party had e bikes), the outdoor onsen beckoned. Driving your own cable car up and back. How cool is that? Our room is large by Japanese standards. And hey check out the self opening toilet seat when you enter the toilet room. Very friendly staff too.

This hotel is located 5 min from the Ilya vine bridge , 30 min to Ochial village and 1 h from the nagaro scarecrow village . |There is free parking in front of the hotel . |The hospitality here cannot be matched from someone greeting you at the car park bringing your bags to reception then to room to someone pressing the lift for you etc. |Our room was a twin suite with sitting room and two toilets next to the indoor onsen . |We booked the private onsen at 3850 yen for 45 min and it was thoroughly worth it as we were able to take photos . You have to take a mini wooden funicular up to the hillside for the onsen . It was a worthy experience . |For dinner , we sat at this table with a charcoal grill in the middle . We had the pregnant fish . |Overall dinner was satisfactory . It ended with the lady boss singing a folk song and going round the tables asking about the stay and dinner . What amazing hospitality .

A terrific onsen with a great view and peaceful setting. The staff are top notch and very friendly. Our dinner last night was fantastic with multiple courses, and items featuring local fish and vegetables. One must partake in the outdoor onsen with the self piloted cable car. It’s very cool and the outdoor setting is serene.

Beautiful hotel hidden between the mountains in the valley. The japanese rooms were big and comfortable, loved having access to very fresh water all the time. The staff were really attentive, friendly, helpful and kind. The hotel also offers a free night tour to the vine bridge, which I highly recommend. The outdoor onsen is breathtaking, you reach it by using a cable car(or climbing it yourself). Very well maintained and beautiful setup, and you can literally sit for hours looking at its beautiful real nature background. Outside of the onsen, there is a very old rest area with tea and water, and a sunken hearth (irori). The smell of its burning wood creates a very pleasant aroma. Highly recommend sitting on the tatami in the room while the sun shines through the windows so you experience shades of red you have never seen before. Dinner and breakfast use local ingredients, and everything you try is explained in great detail. Also, you get to hear the beautiful singing voice of the owner of the hotel while she sings you a traditional japanese song during the dinner time. Because the hotel is located in a remote valley and unless you have a car, it will be hard to get around. The buses pass scarcely and they are small and can be crowded. If you try to walk, you will always be walking on the road. You can rent assisted bicycles in the hotel, which makes it easier to get around. Oh, and you will probably see wild monkeys crossing the roads if you venture around.

The hotel definitely looks better than it is in the photos. Nice location and food, great open air onsen, helpful staff and good value for money. Hope i can revisit it some day.

The onsen is on top of the hill so you can have a stunning mountain view while enjoying the onsen. Also there are autumn leaves around which is so beautiful.

Charming ryokan with good local food, and outdoor onsen facilities. Provides extra perks like free morning coffee (it’s not part of the typical Japanese breakfast set) and an evening tour to view the nearby vine bridge and waterfall at night.
