The 8 Best Hotels in Amsterdam (Updated 2025)

"In Leidseplein, right across from the massive Vondelpark, I like that this hotel sits in a calmer, less crowded area and offers simple but clean and comfortable rooms in a homey atmosphere (there’s even a hotel cat and a hotel bar with board games). The rooms have modern decor and lots of natural light; single rooms have shared bathrooms while the others are en suite, so take note when booking. The staff are really nice and always ready to help, and I think it’s the best mid-range value in this part of town." - Matthew Kepnes

We stayed here on our honeymoon. Yes, the rooms are small and the stairs are steep with no lift, BUT - this place is a true gem. The breakfast is delicious and the coffee machine available all day was great. The location was so convenient - close to the museums, the Jordaan neighborhood, and easy to use the tram and metro systems which were both close by. All the staff was so friendly and genuine, including Jacky who we were in love with! We would absolutely return to stay here again. One criticism we would have is better attention to refilling things in the room. We had to ask for toilet paper and our conditioner was pretty empty for half our stay. Not the biggest deal, just figured I’d mention it.

I wish I was allowed to give more than 5 stars. Astrid is a gem. She not only helped us recover a phone left in a cab but also found my wallet and is saving me by mailing it back. She was so funny, knowledgeable and made the stay the best. Her staff was all personable and very nice. The location was fantastic and right in front of a tram stop. It was very easy for us to get around because of this. I would absolutely stay here again next time I am in Amsterdam. Thank you for everything again Astrid and staff!

Google
Hotel La Boheme was exactly the hotel we were looking for. A great location with easy access to things to do and transportation from the airport. Rooms were clean and well kept. Loved hanging out with Jackie (the cat) in the lobby. The breakfast spread was solid and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Staffing, room, service, location, cleanliness and quietness are a 5⭐️. It was great since the first minute in the reception being with Jackie the cat. The breakfast service was also very worth it for the price, recommend it. I was in the underground floor, in which bathroom + shower were outside of the room but I didn’t mind.

Overall, I had a decent stay at Hotel La Boheme, but I am mixed about my review. The breakfast was good and reasonably priced and the bed was comfortable, but my room was dark and dingy and in the basement. For $$$ I was surprised at that. I know Amsterdam is expensive but wasn’t expecting that. I could also hear loud commotion from the reception area above my room all day long. There was also no soap in the shared bathroom throughout my stay, and no one came to clean my room or change my towels throughout my few day stay. Otherwise, the location is good (near trams and Leidseplein) and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful family stay at this hotel! The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere was warm and cozy. The location is perfect — very close to the city center, with plenty of cafes and restaurants around. In the evenings, we loved taking a short 5-minute walk to enjoy a drink and unwind after a full day of exploring. It was the perfect place to relax and feel at home in Amsterdam. Highly recommended!

This was our second stay at this amazing hotel, and it was just as perfect as the first time! The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The hotel itself is in a great location, and the overall vibe is relaxed and cozy — made even better by the resident cat, who is an absolute star! Such a charming touch that makes the place feel extra special. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. A flawless experience from start to finish — 10/10!

Google
Wonderful hotel in terms of location, staff and quirkiness. They have an in house staff that was friendly. The all day free coffee was much appreciated. We took their breakfast and it was basic but nice. The staff (all but one) were nice, conversational and helpful. If the staff on the second evening was a little more attentive, this would be a 5 star review.

Yelp
Such a fantastic stay!!! Jacky and Sergio who run the desk and the breakfast in the AM were just delightful people. Mimi the house cat was also awesome. The room was small, clean and perfect for what we needed. Had a hairdryer, safe and internet. TV as well though we didn't need it. Located in the Leidseplein and accessible to everything. Take the 192 bus right from the Schipol airport to a stop half a block away for 4 euro. Literally three minute walk from the Melkweg, and 7-10 to the Museumplein. Great breakfast included croissants, coffee, yogurt, granola, fruit, juice, meats and cheese. Will definitely stay there again when I go back to Amsterdam!!! Highly recommend booking an advance ticket for Anne Frank House to avoid the line and buying your Van Gogh museum at the front desk to avoid the line there as well.
