La Hacienda Bahia Paracas | Best places to stay in Paracas

"As a place to base yourself by the beach in Paracas, La Hacienda is hard to beat. The hotel sits on the best stretch of sand – right on the edge of Paracas National Reserve. The hotel’s infinity pool (one of the largest in town and with a poolside bar) is poised for views of the sun sinking orange over the Pacific and the hotel can organise, kite-surfing, ocean-kayaking and excursions. White and cream rooms are spacious and bright with tall French windows, and mock-colonial dark terracotta tiled floors. Peruvian indigenous art hangs on the walls and textiles on the beds. The spa is the best in Paracas. " - Alex Robinson

Excellent hotel: the room was spacious and comfortable, the garden beautiful, the pool area fantastic, and the museum very interesting. We dined there too and the food was delicious. Best stay we had in Peru. Possible excursions: Ballestas Islands and their wildlife, the Nazca lines, the Paracas natural reserve...

Beautiful location, relaxing, and comfortable. Food is delicious with a good variety. Staff is pleasant, and helpful, but it can be overwhelming at times. They stand next to you constantly to ensure your comfort, which can be uncomfortable for some.

Excellent facilities, helpful friendly staff, delicious food in restaurant. Grounds, room, and pool are clean and so pretty! We were here six nights. Twice went to eat somewhere else: once to the Hyatt next door and once to the hotel paracas (Marriott). Those were nice places but la hacienda was nicer and the food was better. The view from the restaurant is just lovely. Special thanks for the grilled veggies at breakfast and the breakfast gluten free bread options.

A desert oasis. A wonderful resort in Paracas, right on the bay. Was almost empty of guests when we were there but it was right after Holy Week (La Semana Santa). The food and service were excellent. Unfortunately heavy seas had us reroute our boat trip to the white islands, but it was fantastic as we saw the Humboldt Penguins, cormorants, and the giant Peruvian pelicans. In addition we cruised by the candelabra, a hieroglyph carved into the desert rock. Truly amazing site. A really fun trip included in our stay. |We also did a fly over of the Nazca Lines. It is not to be missed if you are in Lima or Paracas. The symbols can be hard to make out at times but it is certainly worth the effort. The pilots are very helpful in pointing out the glyphs. |Next we went to the national park, and the points of view of the bay. Just a marvelous place.

Hotel is great — the rooms, staff, and service were all excellent. The views are amazing, and the breakfast was really good (though it would have been nice to have water available during breakfast). The restaurant is gorgeous- the best food we have tried in Paracas - ceviche was great. The big pool is not heated - so it is cold. There is only one small warm pool outside. We used the tour service of the hotel - it was great to see Paracas reserve. There is a museum in the hotel. It is such a great option - we have learnt a lot about the cultures here. However, there is a horrible smell of dead fish coming from the ocean several times a day. It even gets into the room through closed doors. The beach near the hotel is unusable — the water is so dirty that no one dares to swim in it.

Beautiful setting with lovely, helpful staff. My girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights. Highly recommended. They have free kayaks and bikes you can borrow and the staff are more than capable of helping to arrange tours to Ica or Ballestas. This hotel is probably the best part of Paracas.

Wishes that we could have stayed there longer as we weren’t able to take advantage of all the available activities this hotel offers!! We also lucked out because we stayed here during the week so it was not crowded at all. We enjoyed the quiet time, around the pool and on the bay. We also booked a flyover tour of Nazca lines and sightseeing boat tours through a travel agent, but the hotel offers a boat tour from its own pier! It seemed more private. I would recommend this hotel to those tourists who want to enjoy tranquility and water sports. I would definitely return here when I come back to Peru.

Hotel was underwhelming. Breakfast was mediocre with limited variety and poor quality - have had better in 3 star hotels. Jacuzzi was extra ($10pp) and you had to book in advance. Swimming pool was freezing. We also didn't have running water in our room for a period as they did maintenance, which they didn't tell us about and we couldn't flush the toilet. I wouldn't recommend Paracas in general - very unpleasant sulphur smell from rotting seaweed, and place is empty in June as weather is perpetual cloud (don't believe the weather forecasts). The hotel was also a long way into town. Overall, despite comfortable bed, I'd suggest staying somewhere else (or better yet, just do a day tour from Lima).
