La Locanda Del Fiordo - Review - Furore - Amalfi Coast - The Infatuation

"This is the closest you can eat to Italy’s only fjord. This salmon-colored restaurant, located on the airy terrace of a hotel, is the play for couples who want to have a meal with a panoramic view of the sea without foregoing quality food or leaving with financial regret. You’ll find an a la carte menu of traditional Neapolitan fish and seafood specialities (think handmade fusilli with clams and grilled catch of the day). If you’re headed there for dinner, make sure to time your reservation strategically to admire the fjord on your way up, and then catch the sunset from the terrace over La Locanda’s lemony risotto with shrimps." - Federica Bocco

This was our first time to the Amalfi coast, and I could not imagine having spent it at a better place. It is no surprise that the "locanda" loosely refers to refers to "a small, often family-run establishment that provides food and lodging," which is exactly the type of vibe you get from this place.||From the moment we checked in, the owner, Luigi, was welcoming and considerate. Salvatore met us in the parking lot as pulled up and took our bags striaght inside and down to the room before we could We had just spent the better part of a day on planes, trains, and taxis to get here and he made the check-in process super simple – with a Proseco welcome! The views from the road are absolutley stunning and they only get better as you walk down to the guest rooms, which have amazing oceanfront views. You can even take the stairs all the way down to the bottom of the cliff and jump straight into the ocean!||By the second day, it became clear that everyone working here loves what they do and treats every guest like family. Erica, Luigi the owner and the other Luigi, along with all the cooks and cleaning staff are always happy and accomodating. The food was out of this world and the breakfast buffet was a welcome treat for the kids every morning with made-to-order omelletes, capuccino, fresh fruit, pastries, and juices. It doesn't hurt that the air conditioning was on point since we visited during one of the hottest weeks of the year.||Every day someone comes to clean the room and make the beds, leaving bottles of fresh flat and sparkling water. Everyone was always quick with advice on how to get to some of the local areas of interest and as an added convenience they even sell bus tickets at the front desk so all you have to do is walk a few hundred feet down the road and head to Amalfi or Positano. We would absolutely return here on our next trip to see all the towns we did not have to time visit. The only word of caution I would offer (which applies to just about every hotel and venue on the coast) is that there are a lot of stairs. We are all in good shape so it was actually a welcome experience to get our workout in and burn off the delicious food (the grilled octupus and mixed fish platters were outrageous) calories. ||If I could rate it higher than 5 stars I would!

I had a fabulous stay at La Locanda for 4 nights in late May. Luigi was incredibly kind, offering to stay up late so that I could check in after my trains got delayed/cancelled during the rail worker strike. I am a young woman who was traveling solo, and I felt like the staff did an outstanding job making me feel safe and welcome. Stunning views, but do be mindful that the rooms are built into the side of the cliff and thus may be a long hike up and down stairs. I do not consider myself athletic at all, and had to take some deep breaths, but managed just fine. Large beds are 2 smaller mattresses pushed together, which seems to be standard for the region, but was unfamiliar to me. Great shower. No clothing iron/steamer. The food was fabulous, which is great as there aren’t really any other places to eat nearby without transportation, and they have great resources for anything you want to do. 10/10 would (and plan to) absolutely come back.

Absolutely loved staying here. Luigi and staff were fantastic, friendly and kind. Cannot thank them enough for the last week we spent there. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable and has a delicious breakfast. I loved that all the staff would eat dinner together before serving dinner to the customers! Highly recommend.

Every time I visit my parents on the Amalfi Coast, La Locanda del Fiordo is our go-to spot for lunch. We went on Tuesday and once again it was perfect. This is hands down one of the most authentic local restaurants you’ll find on the Amalfi Coast - every visit feels like coming home. We started with alici fritte and sauté di cozze - so fresh and full of flavor. For mains, we had paccheri alla pescatora, which were absolutely delicious, and then we finished with desserts. The pistachio dessert is my favorite, and honestly, it might be my favorite food ever! Everything we had was made with care and tasted incredible. The service really makes the place special. Luigi, our waiter, was attentive, friendly, and just genuinely lovely. And the owner-chef Luigi is such a humble, talented, big-hearted person - he clearly puts so much love into his food and his guests’ experience. The views are breathtaking, the kind that stop you in your track, and the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. Great food, amazing service, and that view… it’s hard to beat. Coming here every year feels like coming home. Thank you, Luigi and team, for another unforgettable meal!

Best location - stunning views, direct sea access and very friendly people working here. We had 2 rooms for a family of 5. Helped with charging car 👍 dinner was so good and outstanding value for this area - many stairs as is normal in the area. Easy parking - they help with this :)

Fantastic view on the Amalfi Coast. Hotel staff is incredibly friendly and very helpful. Rooms have great views, but are generally small, especially the bathrooms. Overall fantastic experience. Highly recommended.

Great small hotel on the cliff with great view of the sea and positano. Most room have balcony. You can access the water going down the stIrs but it deep water. Good thing it offers private parking for reasonable price. Food is generally expensive along amalfi coast. Restaurant in the hotel is good. I had dinners daily when was staying there.
