This was our first time to the Amalfi coast, and I could not imagine having spent it at a better place. It is no surprise that the "locanda" loosely refers to refers to "a small, often family-run establishment that provides food and lodging," which is exactly the type of vibe you get from this place.
From the moment we checked in, the owner, Luigi, was welcoming and considerate. Salvatore met us in the parking lot as pulled up and took our bags striaght inside and down to the room before we could We had just spent the better part of a day on planes, trains, and taxis to get here and he made the check-in process super simple – with a Proseco welcome! The views from the road are absolutley stunning and they only get better as you walk down to the guest rooms, which have amazing oceanfront views. You can even take the stairs all the way down to the bottom of the cliff and jump straight into the ocean!
By the second day, it became clear that everyone working here loves what they do and treats every guest like family. Erica, Luigi the owner and the other Luigi, along with all the cooks and cleaning staff are always happy and accomodating. The food was out of this world and the breakfast buffet was a welcome treat for the kids every morning with made-to-order omelletes, capuccino, fresh fruit, pastries, and juices. It doesn't hurt that the air conditioning was on point since we visited during one of the hottest weeks of the year.
Every day someone comes to clean the room and make the beds, leaving bottles of fresh flat and sparkling water. Everyone was always quick with advice on how to get to some of the local areas of interest and as an added convenience they even sell bus tickets at the front desk so all you have to do is walk a few hundred feet down the road and head to Amalfi or Positano. We would absolutely return here on our next trip to see all the towns we did not have to time visit. The only word of caution I would offer (which applies to just about every hotel and venue on the coast) is that there are a lot of stairs. We are all in good shape so it was actually a welcome experience to get our workout in and burn off the delicious food (the grilled octupus and mixed fish platters were outrageous) calories.
If I could rate it higher than 5 stars I would!
