"Opened in 1946 as a restaurant (where the famous regulars included Churchill and Hemingway), La Maison Arabe later expanded to a small hotel, then grew again under its current French-Italian owner. Today, it features 26 garden- or patio-view rooms and suites, individually designed in either a traditional or slightly more modern Moroccan style. All have air-conditioning and heating (a must for the varied desert temperatures) as well as Wi-Fi, satellite TVs, and marble-and-granite bathrooms stocked with aromatic toiletries. Also available to guests is an idyllic swimming pool, around which the hotel serves a home-cooked breakfast each morning, and the clubby, 1930s-inspired Piano Bar, where guests can enjoy live jazz and pre-dinner drinks by the fireplace. When it’s time to unwind, head to the cozy spa for an array of face, body, and hamman treatments, all performed with products made exclusively for the hotel. Much like in the past, La Maison Arabe revolves around food. Guests can choose between Le Restaurant, where a gorgeous fountain and hand-painted ceiling set the stage for authentic Moroccan fare, and the intimate, lantern-lit Les Trois Saveurs, which serves a sophisticated menu of French, Moroccan, and Asian dishes. Additionally, the hotel offers some of the city’s best cooking classes, which are open to outside guests. Led by a dada (a traditional Moroccan cook), the lessons take place either at the main hotel or the Country Club—a satellite property located 15 minutes away by complimentary shuttle, wherestudentscan alsofind a larger pool, lush gardens, a restaurant, and a bit of calm away from the bustle of the medina."

La Maison Arabe | Best places to stay in Marrakech

"Established in 1946, this legendary hotel is one of the Medina’s finest and most comfortable, with intricate carved doors, lattice windows, cedar ceilings, and plush furnishing. Oriental paintings and candelabras hang on walls and Moroccan lanterns illuminate each room. Pretty courtyards with fountains and potted palms, two big and beautiful swimming pools and a spa with hammam complete the picture. The location in bustling Bab Doukkala, a short stroll to Jemaa El Fna, is excellent, making this an ideal choice for a first Marrakech stay. " - Mandy Sinclair

We stayed at La Maison Arabe for two nights during our first visit to Marrakech, and overall it was a very memorable experience. The hotel is located inside the Medina, so you really feel like you’re living in the heart of the old city, surrounded by local life, small alleyways, and historic architecture. The Riad itself is beautiful once you walk through the door — quiet central courtyard, a pool under the open sky, and very warm service from the staff. We arrived early in the morning (around 8 AM), and although the room wasn’t ready yet, the team helped us with luggage storage and welcomed us with a smile, which I really appreciated after a long flight. Our room faced the pool, with lovely details and a cozy atmosphere. We enjoyed the little touches: complimentary Moroccan red wine and a sweet stuffed date treat in the evenings. The Piano Bar is a great spot to unwind with live jazz and classic cocktails, and the restaurant experience felt intimate with live music and beautiful décor. A few notes for future travelers: • The hotel can arrange airport pick-up, but it’s not included. It costs 250 MAD per trip, so it’s worth knowing in advance. • Breakfast is not included in the room rate, even at the price point we paid. Personally, I feel that for this level of pricing, breakfast should be included as part of the experience, especially at a property known for its culinary history. The location, atmosphere, and service are what make La Maison Arabe special, especially if you want to experience the soul of Marrakech rather than a modern-style resort. Despite the high price during our dates, we enjoyed our stay and the unique charm of the Riad.

Great hotel! Lots of cool hallways with amazing decor. Little fires in nooks. Love music in the courtyard at night. Each room beautifully done. Staff is very attentive. And Maraod at the front desk - exceptionally helpful. Great recommendations, helpful setting up rides and activities, just really superb. When we first got there it was early in the morning and I was worried because it was cold and the room we got put in was cold, but after the first day we moved to another room and it’s like everything changed for the better. Also excellent cooking class!!

A wonderful Riad with so much class, style, art, architecture, and general ambiance. Afternoon tea, amazing restaurant and a great breakfast buffet or order what you please. Cannot speak to highly about the staff in all areas. A wonderful and peaceful place to visit.

Our family had so much fun in our cooking class. Our teacher, Wafa, was so knowledgeable and shared such interesting tidbits about Moroccan culture, tea hospitality, and food history. The whole experience of cooking a tagine with the main cook was a lot of fun for my beginner-level cooking family. The cooking class was a great way to experience the local culture and meet other lovely travelers, too. We all ate what we prepared and left with gifts.....

This is a beautiful and historic riad complex in Marrakech. I had an amazing few days at here. This beautiful riad, located close to the Medina shopping areas, is full of character and charm. The rooms and common spaces are tastefully decorated, creating an inviting and authentic Moroccan atmosphere. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The on-site restaurants were excellent, and the pool was a perfect place to relax after exploring the city. I would absolutely stay here again if I’m lucky enough to return to Marrakech.

We had a wonderful five day stay at this hotel. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The location is great. We did a cooking class there which we really enjoyed. They also have a small country club with a free transportation. There’s a nice pool there to cool off.

Visited for dinner and had a really lovely experience. The setting feels authentic and welcoming, with a wholesome, intimate atmosphere. The food was tasty and well prepared, and the service was genuinely warm. A charming spot for a relaxed, memorable dinner.

We took a cooking class here, which was amazing. The setup is incredible. Not only does each person have their own cooking station, but there is a camera above the teacher's station, and each student has a tv screen so you can see what she is doing. The food was also delicious!
