Inside the hotels of the Balearic Islands

"A fourteenth-century tower in Ibiza’s historic hilltop old town is home to Torre del Canónigo, a stunning, stylish boutique hotel. Rooms and suites are a dream, and a spacious dream at that, classic in aspect yet contemporary in comfort. And the fact that towers are literally built to provide astonishing views, makes the Canónigo experience a spectacularly panoramic one." - Guide MICHELIN

Hold The Fort: All Along The Watchtower Hotels

"An ancient watchtower in Ibiza’s historic hilltop old town is home to Torre del Canónigo, a stunning, stylish boutique hotel. The Dalt Vila district is one of the quietest parts of town, though still close to pretty much everything. That proximity, combined with the fact that towers are literally built to provide astonishing views, makes the Canónigo experience a spectacularly panoramic one." - Mark Fedeli

La Torre del Canónigo (Ibiza, Balearic Islands) 5 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If Ibiza still means nothing to you but an infinity of all-night dance parties, then your references are dangerously out of date. Not that you can’t still find some utterly legendary nightlife — but Ibiza’s high-end hoteliers have seemingly been up all night as well, polishing their luxury hotels to a high sheen, refining their boutique offerings until they rival any in Europe. The result is hotels like the Torre del Canónigo, a fourteenth-century tower in Ibiza’s historic hilltop old town that’s home to a stunning, stylish 26-room boutique hotel." - Tablet Hotels

Staying here was an absolute delight. The location couldn’t be more perfect — nestled right in the heart of the old town, just steps away from history and charm. The service and staff were nothing short of exceptional, warm, and genuinely caring, making me feel at home from the moment I arrived. Yes, the rooms are on the smaller side, but that’s to be expected in the old town, where space is precious — and it’s clearly stated when booking. Honestly, it only added to the authentic charm of the experience. The view, however, completely stole my heart — breathtaking and unforgettable. I wholeheartedly recommend this place 100% and can’t wait to return!

This is a lovely chic property right at the top of the walled old town. Many aspects fit with that of a luxury hotel, and the x3 buildings that make up the heritage property are stunning. The pool area is an oasis of calm with breathtaking views. The hotel product itself is spot on, with best quality linens, interesting objet d’art, and quality fixtures and fittings. Sadly, all that said, there were some really basic aspects that let this place down. Dirty in places, lack of attention in others, and generally zero attention to detail (which you would expect at circa €800pn) around the pool area. Not only did the furniture, tables, floors never get wiped down or washed, but when I mentioned this to the hotel, still nothing was done. Simply dirty - and would not consider getting in their lovely looking but dirty pool. It didn’t help that the path outside the pool area had drainage works going on, which meant that you walked through the kitchen to get there, which also meant that we could see just how clean (or not!) the back-of-house areas were - very unimpressive! Having said that, they can fix the cleanliness issues - if the GM get’s his act together - and lack of attention around the pool - so I would return.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough, I stayed here in the summer this year for the second time (first time last summer) and both visits have been brilliant. What I love most about it is how amazing the staff are, taking care of your every need with no problem. They are already taking care of you via WhatsApp before you arrive and you can message them night or day during your stay and they respond instantly. The views are gorgeous from the rooms and the restaurant and the swimming pool is really gorgeous and peaceful. The hotel staff can run you down to the Old Town in the car or buggy whenever you need (takes 3 mins in buggy or a short downhill walk). Feels good to be above and away from the hustle and bustle where it’s tourist heavy with all the restaurants but still close and very easy to get to. When coming back at night good to check which taxi company you get as only one has a licence to bring you all the way up to the hotel entrance. Thank you to the staff for another great stay and looking forward to the next one.

My father and I came to Ibiza for five days and I was looking for a hotel that had the Ibiza vibe. This hotel fit the bill: it's really beautiful, nestled in between the castle walls, with a gorgeous view of the city.||I'll start with the positives: The staff is incredible. Even before we booked, they were responsive and answered all our questions immediately. Special shoutout to Isabel, Sarah and Javier (I hope I spelled those correctly). The breakfast served some of the best coffee I've ever had, and the complimentary shuttle to the city center and back was clutch so you didn't have to walk up and down the steep walkways. The hotel has thought of very small details that make the stay memorable: Le Labo products, intuitive lights, free beverages in the room, coffee machines, etc.||Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. This hotel is not suitable for people with mobility issues due to the copious amount of stairs. We booked the premium room which had a bathroom dividing a bedroom and a living room: perfect for us to have separate sleeping spaces. The room is beautiful, but unfortunately, it's facing the street and right above a bar that kept us up all night. A trash truck woke us again at 1: 30 a.m -- my dad never wakes up in the night, but that night, he woke up five times. The people above us also walked around all night and every time a toilet flushed, we heard it. We immediately requested to change rooms because we couldn't do 5 nights of no sleep -- the only rooms that were available were two basic rooms at the top of five flights of stairs that were impossible for my dad to get to. So, I moved him again to a superior room, which, in our opinion, is maybe the best room in the whole hotel. He had no complaints about this room. The staff was amazing in assisting the various room changes and with any other requests such as toiletries I had forgotten.||I stayed in the basic room, which are all located above the restaurant that stayed open until 1:30 a.m. and then burst alive again around 6 a.m. with staff moving tables and chairs and preparing for the day. Also, the walls are thin, so you can hear your neighbors. All to say, if you are sensitive to noise, this is probably not the hotel for you.||Lastly, breakfast was included in our rate, but we were charged for two of them, plus they charged us 200 euros extra for the "additional bed" (which was just the sofa bed pulled out in the first room) -- fine, but we had not been told about this extra charge during our numerous inquiries before arriving so we felt a little duped. They of course rectified the bill immediately without hesitation.||All in all, it's a beautiful hotel with amazing staff, but I probably wouldn't stay here again, especially for more than 700 euros a night.

We stayed at La Torre del Canonigo for three nights during our honeymoon and it exceeded our expectations. Everyone who works there is so kind, professional, and happy. The level of service is truly top notch. We loved being able to chat with reception over WhatsApp to schedule taxis, get recommendations, and set up reservations. It made our whole trip so seamless. Same with having the house cars for rides. The pool is a major highlight, the views are spectacular. For daybeds and loungers with f&b service elsewhere on the island you’d be paying quite a bit, and this being included felt like amazing value to us. The room was small but very clean and had everything we needed. And maybe the most important part - the location! You can’t beat it. Right at the very top of the old town. Just beautiful. The photos don’t do it justice. And it’s nice and quiet. You can go party elsewhere and come back to this peaceful spot to rest up. Can’t say enough good things and can’t wait to be back.

Staying at La Torre de Canonigo was an absolute dream. The property is filled with history and charm, perfectly blending the old-world character of Ibiza’s Old Town with modern comfort. The views are simply breathtaking and well worth the climb. While taxis and Ubers don’t go all the way up, the hotel makes it effortless. The staff quickly arranged transport anytime we needed it and handled every request or reservation with ease. A special mention goes to Fernando, who was truly outstanding—attentive, professional, and always ready to help. He made us feel completely taken care of throughout our stay. If you’re looking for a unique experience with history, spectacular views, and service that goes above and beyond, I highly recommend La Torre de Canonigo.

Beautiful hotel, located at the top of the historic district of Ibiza. The room was very beautiful and super clean. The van service provided by the hotel is very convenient. The staff there is absolutely perfect, we had forgot something there and they were very helpful to get it back.

The La Torre del Canonigo was pure perfection… from well before we arrived until the staff helping with our early morning departure!! The LTdC was in an amazing location inside the old town fort - makes you feel as if you’re returning to a castle every evening. The historical buildings - especially the Tower we stayed in - were so unique, updated with modern amenities but so much character maintained. Easy to communicate with the LTdC team through WhatsApp throughout our stay, which was great for easier comings and goings from up in the fort down to the meeting point in town. The pool was a perfect little oasis (especially to cool off on a hot summer day!), and there were many other r&r spots all throughout the property that I wish I got to enjoy more of… so I’ll just have to go back soon!! Thank you to Sara and the full LTdC Team for making my first Ibiza adventure unforgettable! :)
