12 Best Hotels in San Sebastián, Spain | Condé Nast Traveler

"Housed in a grand 1917 golden‑sandstone building that borders a quiet old‑town square and the lively old harbor, I found Lasala Plaza’s clean‑lined modern rooms—wood floors, top‑level beds, Japanese bathrooms and domotic lighting—airy and comfortable, perfectly immersed in the Parte Vieja pintxo universe. Ander González’s Jarana is making a name for itself with a simple, impeccably executed menu (steak tartar, fish soup, egg and chips with morcilla), and the rooftop solarium with pool and bar is unparalleled for a glass of cold txakoli while watching the sunset over Santa Clara island and Igeldo." - Paul Richardson, Marti Buckley

Lasala Plaza Hotel (San Sebastian, Basque Country) 9 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There are modern hotels, and there are historic hotels — and there are hotels that can do a bit of both. Fresh off its hundredth birthday, this 1917 building, with its panoramic views of San Sebastián’s extremely picturesque fishing port, has been reinvented. Behind its meticulously restored period façade, the Lasala Plaza Hotel is a luxury boutique hotel in the contemporary 21st-century style: a tightly focused, minimalistic color palette in blues and grays, plus modern furnishings, contemporary artworks, and the plush-but-restrained comforts that today’s travelers have come to expect from travel in the boutique era." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel Lasala Plaza | Best places to stay in San Sebastian

"A swish Belle Epoque building overlooking San Sebastian’s mesmerizing La Concha bay, Lasala Plaza has been rejuvenated as a romantic and relaxing boutique hotel. Even if you don’t book a seafront room, you can take in the views from the cool rooftop pool and bar; the kind and helpful staff will make you feel right at home; and there’s an excellent contemporary Basque restaurant, which is popular with the locals. It also has a convenient underground car park and valet parking for road-trippers. This is a stylish and sociable base for visitors to this foodie, seafront city. " - Dana Facaros

This is a beautiful and luxurious hotel with lovely and helpful staff. We booked 2 rooms for our stay - a corner historical and a double historical. The corner historical room was absolutely fabulous, with lots of space and amenities. The double historical room sadly wasn't so nice. We were given an accessible room for disabled people, so not only did you have to stare at the ugly contraption and railing while you were in the room, but the bathroom is unlike the normal lovely bathrooms you have in other rooms. You don't get a separate toilet and shower, it is just one combined space and there is just a low standard white basin in there with no benchtop to hold your toiletries. It would have been nice to be advised at check-in and given the option to move if not comfortable with it. There is something about the discomfort of being in a disabled room when you aren't disabled. If it wasn't for this, I'd be giving a 5 star review. So do check upon check in if you are staying at this lovely hotel.

We had a lovely stay here, meeting up with friends, for a short break. This is a luxurious hotel with a bright and contemporary decor and lots of natural light. The staff are always at hand, attentive and helpful, in that unobtrusive way that top hotels manage. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner here, but breakfasts were top quality. In truth, this was a little more expensive than our price range, but we stayed here as our friends chose it. But having stayed here, and with its fantastic location in town, we’ve already agreed that when we next come to Donostia, we will stay here.thanks

Room was alright. Nice rooftop for sunset views. Service was polite and professional. However one interaction made me feel like it was a mechanically run hotel without a heart- I made a request to cancel and refund payment for a buffet breakfast when I was feeling unwell (which i had chosen as an optional extra on top of my room fee) was met with a flat ‘sorry no’. It wasn’t like they had made the breakfast especially for me and seemed to not care about the fact that I was physically ill and therefore didn’t want to have breakfast.

Spent 4 nights here in mid October2025, for our first "adults only" trip in years. It is a wonderful hotel. It is luxury without being gaudy, has possibly the best location in town- with views of the water and the harbor out the front (including a nice first floor bar to enjoy the views) and the old town out the back. It is super close to all the tapas spots, etc. The staff was great and helpful. Breakfast is in a nice room on the second floor with views of the plaza. The roof is a nice spot to take in the views of the town and the beach. Highly recomend it.

We loved our experience at Hotel Lasala Plaza! We had been traveling for 4 weeks and this hotel room was SO LOVELY for us! It was spacious and facing the water with a beautiful view. There were shelves for our clothes and hangers for those clothes needing hangers. They brought us two suitcase holders as well. The staff was so friendly and nice. We only chose the breakfast (23E) for one of our days. It was a lovely buffet but in the following days we just walked 5 minutes away and also had a nice breakfast for 23E for all 4 of us. Not unlimited like the buffet of course. Completely recommend- ask for the rooms facing the ocean!

Our stay at the Lasala Plaza Hotel in San Sebastián was incredible. The location couldn’t have been better—right in the heart of the Old Town, steps from everything. Our room was insanely comfortable and beautifully designed, the kind of space you actually look forward to coming back to. The hotel truly had everything: a picture-perfect, delicious breakfast, great amenities, and staff who were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for our Honeymoon in San Sebastian!

My husband and I stayed at Lasala Plaza during our honeymoon and it was a lovely experience. We were greeted with a welcome drink and some almond cookies upon arrival, along with a handwritten note congratulating us. Our corner room had views of both the plaza and the ocean, with double doors opening directly over the plaza. The room was bright, airy, and spacious, and felt modern and comfortable. ||The location cannot be beat. It's steps from the pintxo-lined streets of the old town and a short walk to the beach, the aquarium, Mount Urgull, and other fun neighborhoods like Gros. For being in such a central location, it still feels quiet, luxurious and relaxing.||For food, we only tried the breakfast buffet, which was perfectly adequate. They had lots of options available, including freshly made eggs in a variety of ways, fruit, meats and cheese, and pastries. They also had various juices and cava. For 23-29 euro, you could certainly eat and drink much more than you paid for (though we were too full from slamming pintxos for three days straight to eat much when we got the buffet, the morning of checking out). ||We would definitely recommend Lasala Plaza for your stay in San Sebastian!
