Lasala Plaza Hotel (San Sebastian, Basque Country) 9 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There are modern hotels, and there are historic hotels — and there are hotels that can do a bit of both. Fresh off its hundredth birthday, this 1917 building, with its panoramic views of San Sebastián’s extremely picturesque fishing port, has been reinvented. Behind its meticulously restored period façade, the Lasala Plaza Hotel is a luxury boutique hotel in the contemporary 21st-century style: a tightly focused, minimalistic color palette in blues and grays, plus modern furnishings, contemporary artworks, and the plush-but-restrained comforts that today’s travelers have come to expect from travel in the boutique era." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel Lasala Plaza | Best places to stay in San Sebastian

"A swish Belle Epoque building overlooking San Sebastian’s mesmerizing La Concha bay, Lasala Plaza has been rejuvenated as a romantic and relaxing boutique hotel. Even if you don’t book a seafront room, you can take in the views from the cool rooftop pool and bar; the kind and helpful staff will make you feel right at home; and there’s an excellent contemporary Basque restaurant, which is popular with the locals. It also has a convenient underground car park and valet parking for road-trippers. This is a stylish and sociable base for visitors to this foodie, seafront city. " - Dana Facaros

Fantastic hotel with excellent service and an ideal location for exploring both the old and new town. Everything was within easy walking distance, making it really convenient. The rooftop bar was a real highlight — perfect for sunbathing during the day or enjoying a relaxing pre-dinner drink with lovely views. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Breakfast was generous and great value for money. Overall, I’d highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay again.

San Sebastian is well known for it's food scene well late into the night and since most places are located in the old town the Lasala Plaza hotel is very well located to explore the city's old town by foot while enjoying pintxos and drinks all night!||Getting to the hotel is a bit tricky but they provide very clear directions and even a YouTube video. San Sebastian is small so you wont have problems if you have a GPS/Car Nav system. Once there the staff takes car of everything, even parking the car (extra cost). A Cava glass was offered while we did check in and everyone was very helpful.||The rooms are very well appointed and luxurious with a modern flair. We had views of the beach and marina which was very nice. The hotel also has a very good rooftop bar with excellent views of the city and bay. Rooms are very comfortable and clean.||But lets face it, you come to San Sebastian for the food and drinks...and using Lasala Plaza as your hub is perfect! You can walk in no time to most of the famous Pintxos places. They even provide a list and map of places they recommend with the description of the type of food offered (very important if you are not local and/or have dietary restrictions).||We were there first day of July but from what we have read and heard it gets very busy during July and maybe part of August...take that into consideration. ||We consider this hotel a very nice sweet spot in value for money as you can go way up in rates at the typical luxury hotels in the zone or save some money in other places. But when you take into consideration location, service, design, amenities it's very hard to beat. If your travel takes you to San Sebastian and discovering the local gastronomy and scene is at the top of the list I can't recommend enough Lasala Plaza Hotel...already planning our return.

Incredible hotel, it couldn’t be more central and in the heart of everything and more. In saying that it somehow still feels tucked away and out of the hustle bustle. Beautiful hotel, the thought put into the amenities and fit out is commendable. Our room was amazing, we had the most perfect view, spacious and a good layout. The rooftop pool was perfect to spend the day sunbathing or enjoy a drink on the terrace!

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location, staff all very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a sea view room with magnificent views, room was immaculately clean and bed was so comfortable. Rooftop bar definitely a bonus but prices were very high and not the best choice, would expect cocktails but none on offer, bar staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good with a good variety.

We had a lovely stay here, meeting up with friends, for a short break. This is a luxurious hotel with a bright and contemporary decor and lots of natural light. The staff are always at hand, attentive and helpful, in that unobtrusive way that top hotels manage. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner here, but breakfasts were top quality. In truth, this was a little more expensive than our price range, but we stayed here as our friends chose it. But having stayed here, and with its fantastic location in town, we’ve already agreed that when we next come to Donostia, we will stay here.

We were staying in a Petite Room with a Sea View. The room was perfectly comfortable with a good sized bathroom and super king sized bed. The location off the Hotel is fantastic just on the edge of the Old Town and next to the Port/Marina . The staff were all very engaging and nothing was too much trouble. What made it for us was the wonderful roof top terrace with fantastic views over San Sebastian beach and city. Highly recommend and we will hopefully return one day.

I was bummed the Nobu Hotel was sold out, so booked here. However, I think we won with this hotel. The location was awesome. Everything was 10/10. I only wish that had 1-2 vegan pinxtos on the menu (as the bars in town do now) and a jacuzzi on that roof (pool is way too cold)...otherwise - perfect!||We stayed here for 3 nights in early July. I was only able to get us a situation where we had one room for a night and another room for 2 nights, so kinda annoyed we had to swap rooms. However, they made this so easy for us. We left our packed bags in one room, went to brunch, came back and the swap was near done. We sat for a drink and they came over and handed us keys. Easy! Our smaller room was night one, and the size was large for EU rooms, so I was shocked that this was the smaller room. When we moved to the larger room, it was pretty huge for an EU room. Everything about the rooms made this a great 3 night stay of comfort and quiet joy. Bed was great. Bathroom was great. The towels and sheets were what a luxury hotel should offer.||The hotel is small- like 65 rooms over 6 floors. The rooftop pool is lovely and ADULTS ONLY makes everything just bliss. I thank this hotel for doing this. The roof bar staff is great. One bartender gave us a hot local tip to hike to the top of the mountain next to the hotel for a bar and we did= well worth it! The front desk staff handled a dinner booking for us one night with ease. Our car service was booked for the airport when I booked the room and added into the total fee... easy! Overall I truly felt like this place understand its demo... adults and no drama. ||We would 100% suggest this hotel to other adults traveling and if we return to the area, this would be my first choice. I am loyal to Bonvoy and they do have a luxury property in town nearby. However, I picked LaSala because it's on the water and adults only. It was the right move! Thank you, LaSala for a lovely stay :)

Fabulous hotel. |Lovely rooms and great service, staff couldn’t be more helpful. |Location is perfect in the old town. Close to lovely restaurants and also the shopping district. |The hotel is opposite the beach, so a short stroll across the road. |The hotel provides towels around the pool and you can also pick them up at reception for the beach. |The pool on the rooftop is very small and not heated but enough to have a quick dip and cool off or sit on the side with feet in. |We arranged our airport transfer via the hotel, which was also excellent. |Can’t wait to return.
