"A prime example of La Baule’s early-20C seaside architecture, this manor house is home to a hotel and a restaurant appointed in a classical bourgeois style whose windows overlook the grounds and pretty terrace. Local lad Jérémy Coirier draws his inspiration from the region (fish, shellfish, Croisic seaweed, Guérande saffron, Mesquer pigeon) to compose a menu that changes with the seasons." - Michelin Inspector

On our trip through Brittany we spent a night at the Castel Marie-Louise and found it delightful. Our room was quite comfortable and from the mini-balcony, we could see the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel is in busy La Baule on the waterfront but because the hotel is set back a bit, it really is quite quiet. Our dinner reservation was a bit of a mix-up -- in reply to an email from the hotel, we made a reservation for dinner and then their reply said they were all booked -- why did they email us then. But luckily, there was a cancellation and we had a delightful All Fish Surprise dinner, and it was delicious sitting on the lawn with the ocean just ahead. We had oysters, lobster on a potato cake and in broth, hake and carrots, and multiple delicious desserts. Thibaut, our waiter, was most gracious and helpful. The hotel is in a lovely location -- we swam in the ocean just after we arrived -- but quiet and charming. We highly recommend it!

We arrived at the hotel after an exhausting two and a half trip around France and therefore this hotel was just what we were looking for. The hotel has beautiful grounds and although it is right opposite the beach, within an easy walk into the centre, it was very peaceful. The beds were huge and extremely comfortable. As the hotel is of an older build, as previous reviews have noted there is no air conditioning. Although there was a charge levied for parking in the hotel's car park, common with many French hotels, it was large and secure. Very friendly and welcoming staff; we will back next year!

A superb hotel of period character with lovely grounds opposite the beach. The staff could not be more welcoming. They were helpful suggesting places to visit in the area.||Our room was spacious and well decorated with a large bathroom with bath and separate shower. There is no air conditioning which should be born in mind if booking in the height of summer. The breakfast buffet is noteable for the great variety of foods to choose from.

An amazing relais châteaux retreat. When going to La Baule, you have a lot of hotel to choose from. The Royal, l’Ermitage but only one makes you feel special all the way and that’s the Castel Marie Louise. Indeed, being a smaller size, you really enjoy a 5 star personalised service and you really feel at home with the all hotel staff making sure your stay is magical. In addition to the amazing recommendation from the concierge and all the great amenities, you also have access to the thermal Spa of the Royal hotel, so you get the best of both world. The rooms are very castle like, velvet, wood and an amazing setting in front of the sea. Now the star of the show is of course the restaurant, the best table in the area and Michelin starred. So all the food is amazing, from breakfast to dinner. The menu changes every day, the highlights for me were the lobster, the vongole, the lait Ribot dessert with honey.

This hotel is really 5 * The architecture is stunning and the luxury through out the hotel is first class. Parking in La Baule is challenging - all on street. The Hotel has there own private Car Park which is very convenient but it is expensive at 22 Euros per night! The Staff are very attentive to ensure your stay is first class. I wished we had booked to stay longer. We booked through Brittany Ferries who provided us with a very concessionary rate!

The Castel Marie-Louise is an exceptional hotel with superb service, the staff so friendly and attentive, very elegant, comfort excellent. The food was outstanding. It was by far the best hotel experience we've ever had. I would live there permanently if I could. :)

This hotel is excellent. ||They have a very simple and transparent web-site for booking. The reception welcome was professional and friendly, the bedroom much bigger than expected with a super bathroom. ||The hotel is on the seafront, just across the road to a wonderful sandy beach.||Delicious breakfast overlooking their garden and a quick friendly check out.||We’ve already booked our next stay in a month’s time.||||
