Le Cèdre

"The food shows off the undeniable richness of the Catalan terroir, and varies freely with the passing seasons, so it is impossible to tire of it! As for the setting, it is an invitation to daydream. The picture window gives onto the fine terrace and, beyond, the port and the sea. Le Cèdre has it all." - Michelin Inspector

Wonderful Restaurant|Reception friendly and professional|Room comfortable, bed and linen good. Bathroom small but well equipped. Very clean|Bar - quick and efficient service with a good range of drinks.|Food - simply excellent. The Hotel restaurant deserves its title of 'Table Distinguee'. Breakfast - fresh good quality products - buffet style.|Two small things. First the dining area needs an attack of the feather duster to removed cobwebs from the windows.|The first night we had to ask for a bottle of water 3 times (it arrived with apologies). The second night after 5 requests for a bottle of water, my wife went to the bar and on the 6th time of asking the water arrived (but no apology).

The hotel is well situated for the port and the bars/restaurants there.|Great welcome from the lady on reception. The room was comfortable, slightly dated if you're picky, but did the job well for a one night stop.|The beds are very comfotable and we slept very well. There's a little road noise from 07:30, but not enough to stop us from sleeping.|The breakfast was very good and varied and set us up for the day.

The staff was friendly and the location of the hotel is not bad while there is a nice view over the port and sea. The pool outside looks very nice. There is free parking on the premises. The hotel staircase and rooms had a kind of refreshment years ago. The room had a good mattress, however it was not clean and the bathroom needs complete replacement. We felt we were ripped off, it wasn’t worth the money.

We stayed in the modern annexe. Our room was very comfortable and well designed. The beds were excellent and the bathroom was spacious. We had facilities to make coffee or tea there. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. The evening meals were truly excellent. I have seldom experienced anything better in any hotel. We also enjoyed our breakfasts as the bread was especially good.

We booked this hotel because of its advertised sea views and thinking it would be quieter being set above the port. The staff overall were smiley, helpful and hardworking. ||Location: above the town with views across the working port, there was a large container ship being loaded/unloaded for the first 24 hours of our stay with all the attendant noise; also a busy road, sports centre and industrial units in the immediate vicinity, not forgetting an active railway line directly below the hotel. Not quite as depicted on the website! Beyond all this good sea views. ||Room: we had a suite which was fine, not luxurious but perfectly pleasant. Small annoyances being the bottles of filtered water were not refilled daily despite being advertised as such, only one small rubbish bin serving a bathroom, 2 bedrooms separate loo, bathroom & a kitchen/sitting room. At time of writing, 12:30pm, still waiting for the room to be cleaned. ||Outside: small pool with sun loungers no umbrellas but pine trees offering some shade one of which has bags fixed round it to catch Processionary Caterpillars (google them they are extremely harmful to humans and pets). ||Restaurant: breakfast is good and varied, buffet style and appears to cater for all tastes. Dinner is ok, nothing special except for the soufflé de Grande Marnier which is superb! There are plenty of small restaurants clustered around the harbour offering very good value alternatives. ||Port Vendres is a pretty working port curled around a harbour filled with pleasure boats. Much less touristy than neighbouring Collioure. ||Conclusion: Overall it’s a perfectly pleasant hotel but the noise from railway, road and port made it a disappointing choice for us personally, sadly. |

The pool and restaurants are really nice just like on the pictures. The hotel is dated and our room was small with a miniscule bath. The main issue was that there was no way to have privacy from the street and parking lot, other than close the heavy curtains, which then left us in the dark. A small veil on the window seems easy enough. Minimal amenities in the room, no mirror. The bathroom was comically small, definitely no room for 2 people at once. The pros: location is not too bad and it was not too noisy despite the road.

My wife and I stayed 2 weeks at this hotel overlooking Port Vendres. The hotel is great, staff friendly and helpful. The hill down into the port is fine if you are mobile but it is sensible to have a car as there is no bus service down into the town. It is a great location for seeing the area and a far better place to stay than the more popular Collioure.
