Hotel Les Vergers de Saint-Paul | Best places to stay in Cote d'Azur

"This charming little hotel offers an affordable and peaceful alternative to the storied, super-luxe resorts dotted along the Cote d’Azur. Located near the pretty art village of St-Paul-de-Vence – yet only a half hour from Nice, with the bonus of free parking – Les Vergers makes an excellent base for first time visitors seeing the sights or stopping on a South of France road trip.   Perks include absolute tranquility, and lovely views over the countryside; light-filled rooms and balconies overlook the sizable pool terrace and wooded hills beyond, serenaded by cicadas.   It’s not for party animals, being some way from the Riviera’s nightclubs and beach clubs: instead, there are peaceful balconies for sitting out on balmy evenings, and classic black and white decor. There’s no restaurant onsite, but the helpful English-speaking owners go out of their way to offer great suggestions.  " - Dana Facaros

We spent here the weekend and it was amazing experience. You can find in details how owners take care of this place, visually it was amazing. We had the room with terrace and the bath and we loved it. Also I want to mention amazing welcoming stuff and how they took care of our room. Breakfast is always fresh and you can feel it’s made of local products. The black cat is the extra pleasure of this place. The only missing is no coffee machine in the room, which could add the comfort of staying there and extra light in the room in late evening.

First the positives: bed and mattress are good and clean. Room is very small, but nice little balcony with a nice view. The reception was friendly. Overall it’s just not up to par considering the rate per night. We had cold water for 2 days (we were there 2 nights). The shower head is just a hand hold, you cannot attach it to the wall. No cotton pads to remove make-up. The hairdryer is old and you have to hold the button to make it work. No coffee or tea station in the room.

We had a great time at Hotel les Vergers. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room, though small, was clean and comfortable. It is a very small hotel, and is therefore lovely and quiet and relaxing. The breakfast offering is smaller in choice than large hotels, but we never found this to be an issue, and enjoyed everything we had. It was especially nice to eat in the garden. There was sufficient parking throughout the holiday, and the spaces are large enough (something that seems to have been addressed since previous reviews). The location was good, it was a short walk (15 mins) to St Paul de Vence centre. The walk is uphill and on a road, so perhaps not suitable for children or those with mobility issues. However, we found it to be perfectly safe and easy enough to do almost daily. Overall, we would, and likely will, stay here again in the future.

Rooms are tiny but the incredible staff and the views make up for it. Fabricio welcomed us and made our stay fantastic. He always was running around helping guests with a smile. He makes this place shine. Hope to see him again. Sylvie was also super helpful with taxi’s which were hard to get one day. Breakfast was high priced for what you get, but the views were great. Once again the staff made up for it.

We loved our stay at Les Vergers! The staff were super welcoming from the moment we arrived and helpful throughout. The room was clean and lovely, everything met our expectations, and special mention to the beautiful pool and charming breakfast area!

Stayed in this quaint, super clean and pretty hotel for one night with my boyfriend at the end of a trip. The pool area is beautiful, with very comfortable loungers. All rooms have picture perfect views of the pool and all have balconies. The hotel is well kept and very clean. The room was comfortable, although there was no shower head holder over the bath so showering was quite tricky as I had to hold the shower head over the bath (not sure if it was being replaced and that is not normal) The hotel is a 10 minute walk up to the beautiful town where we went for lunch and dinner. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again.

The wifi was unusable, but that's not enough for a bad review. Imagine our surprise to return one evening to find the master keys in the lock of our door. Not only could we have lost all our belongings but the rest of the guests could have too. |In addition very limited facilities, although it is obviously a boutique hotel. Nice pool.

I recently stayed at Hotel Les Verges in St Paul de Vence, and unfortunately, my experience was overwhelmingly disappointing. There were numerous issues that marred what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday. Firstly, the management of the hotel is severely lacking, particularly the manager, Mathieu, who was unhelpful and unprofessional. My credit card was charged twice for a total of €4,000, and it took five stressful days of my holiday to resolve the issue. Despite my repeated efforts to contact Mathieu, he was dismissive and uncooperative throughout the process. This level of poor customer service is unacceptable for any establishment, let alone a hotel charging such high rates. The breakfast offered was another major letdown. The selection was extremely limited, and I was surprised to find that eggs were not included and required an extra charge. Given the cost of staying at this hotel, the breakfast was well below the standard I expected. The room I stayed in was also disappointing. It was extremely small and not properly cleaned, with noticeable dust and dirt in various areas. For the price, the lack of cleanliness and cramped space made the stay feel like anything but a luxury experience. There is no sense of value for money at this establishment. Additionally, the pool was in a deplorable state. It was not properly cleaned and was full of hair and dead insects, making it virtually unusable. This further added to the overall feeling that the hotel was poorly maintained and managed. The location, while initially appealing, turned out to be another source of concern. The walk from the hotel to the village of St Paul de Vence is dangerous, as there is no sidewalk and cars race past at speeds of up to 80 km/h. This made it unsafe to enjoy the surrounding area on foot, which was a significant drawback. In summary, my stay at Hotel Les Verges was highly disappointing. The unprofessional management, subpar breakfast, poorly maintained rooms and pool, and dangerous location make it difficult to recommend this hotel. For the prices they charge, the experience falls woefully short of expectations, offering little to no value for money.
