The 31 Best Hotels in Chicago

"The funky Hotel Lincoln has a relaxed vibe befitting its locale next to Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo, it's also within walking distance to Second City improv shows and North Avenue Beach. The designers went mad at flea markets, and festoon the walls with mismatched art, and the desk is made up of dresser drawers. Come here with an appetite: The hotel houses multiple restaurants, including Sushi Suite 202, an in-suite omakase experience featuring 17+ courses of choice nigiri, and Sushi by Bou, a popular spot for omakase, Japanese beers, and thoughtful selections in their Whiskey Library." - Elaine Glusac, Nicole Schnitzler

Hotel Lincoln, JdV by Hyatt

"How did it strike you on arrival?Funky neighborhood hotel with a relaxed vibe befitting its locale next to Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo. The designers went mad at flea markets, and festoon the walls with mismatched art, and the desk is made up of dresser drawers. Come here with an appetite: The hotel houses multiple restaurants, including Sushi Suite 202, an in-suite omakase experience featuring 17+ courses of choice nigiri, and Sushi by Bou, a popular spot for omakase, Japanese beers, and thoughtful selections in their Whiskey Library. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Families and other fun-seekers with a healthy sense of humor. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Feels like a vintage hotel, and the art mix in the lobby continues, to great fun, in the rooms. Cozy. The best rooms overlook the park and Lake Michigan. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Nice bed with loads of pillows. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Fun collection of original artwork of all shapes and sizes hung around the room. Bluetooth speakers. Also, “Abe’s Secret Service,” available at the front desk, has mini bar type items that can be delivered to the room. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Bathrooms are efficient and stock some fabulous MALIN+GOETZ products. Maybe the most important topic of all: wifi. What’s the word?Good wifi and included. Room service: Worth it?Room service includes locally sourced seasonal specials that change frequently. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you. It's hard to miss Elaine's Coffee Call, the lobby-adjacent coffee shop, and you won't want to. It bustles with life, from guests and locals. J. Parker Rooftop Bar does the usual drinks and small plates, but also stages unique events, like yoga classes with panoramic views. There's a gym on-property, but guests can also buy passes to the large Equinox club nearby for $25. Loaner bikes make great getaway vehicles for exploring the lakefront path nearby. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?Great location between downtown and the North Side, and walking distance to Second City improv shows. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Great value in a relaxed location." - Elaine Glusac

Speakeasy-Style Sushi Bar to Open Inside a Lincoln Park Hotel Room | Eater Chicago

"At Hotel Lincoln I was told guests for Sushi Suite 202 will check in at the lobby to receive a room key card and are encouraged to arrive early and relax in the lounge before dinner; the hotel also supplies lounge amenities like a self-serve sake machine (three pours for $30) and small hotel trinkets, and the concept likens the cost of dinner to renting the hotel room itself." - Ashok Selvam

Google
Had a wonderful stay at the Lincoln hotel. Cindy at the front desk was amazing! She worked so hard to make sure we had a room with a great view, talked us through a list of restaurant recommendations, and took the time to made us feel welcomed. Beautiful rooms with incredible views and excellent rooftop! Thank you Cindy and all the staff at the Lincoln for making this year’s “cousin holiday sleepover” a very special one!

Google
A fun, quirky, boutique hotel with a strong Chicago vibe and art everywhere. Rooms are nice but don't expect modern amenities like a fridge. Rooftop bar is beautiful with amazing views. Staff is friendly and professional. We enjoyed a cappuccino and pastry in the coffee shop but did not eat at the restaurant. We moved away from the neighborhood 3.5 years ago and the location is great for walking to Old Town restaurants, Lincoln Park/Zoo, and lakefront. We had a lot of fun.

Google
The hotel lobby is fantastic. The rooms leave so much to be desired. There’s no microwave or mini fridge. The bed is a full size bed (definitely not a queen). The bathroom is so dated. There aren’t dressers so I’ll leave my clothes in my suitcase. Wi-Fi is spotty. TV channels start to work above channel 13. What a disappointment.

Google
The location and view (over the Lincoln Park zoo and the lake) made up for a lot of little issues. The room was clean and comfortable for the price, although it did show its age. The wifi and TV on our floor never worked, the smoke detector started chirping at midnight, and no one ever answered the front desk phone (over 3 days). Since we love the area (and the rooftop bar) we would stay again, but would hope that Hyatt would invest a little to iron out some details. We did appreciate being allowed a late checkout on our last day, plus great responsiveness from housekeeping.

Google
We just stayed here. While the location is ideal, the hotel is severely lacking and there’s terrible customer service. First of all, you can’t reach the front desk. Not by phone, and not by room phone because “their phones are down”. We had multiple issues that we couldn’t address because we couldn’t call down. We paid extra for a park view room with two beds. We were given a TINY room overlooking the garbage bins with a broken tv. When we asked why we didn’t get the room we reserved (and paid for) we were met with attitude from the front desk folks without a solution. Apparently our room wasn’t ready but at check in no one told us or gave us the option to wait, we just got a different room. We ended up moving and having our bags held but didn’t get into our room until after 7pm. Our other option was to get a queen for four people - however on earth that would work. The agent was unbothered. The rooms are quite dated. The hot water doesn’t work. There aren’t cups (not even with the coffee machine! But there are lids). You can’t call down to ask for cups, because broken phones. There aren’t enough towels either (we had 4 people on the res and two towels total). And the rooms are freezing despite in wall unit heaters that are loud enough to prevent you from sleeping. This is a never again experience for me. The staff is miserable and unhelpful and when mistakes happen they make no effort to make things right. Please do better.

Google
Really a 3.5 because the location and view (over the Lincoln Park zoo and the lake) made up for a lot of little issues. The room was clean and comfortable for the price, although it did show its age. The wifi and TV on our floor never worked, the smoke detector started chirping at midnight, and no one ever answered the front desk phone (over 3 days); yet the response I got when I mentioned these things was "OK, got it" or "it must have been the battery." It felt like the staff, though nice people, were not well-trained or adequately supported. Since we love the area (and the rooftop bar) we would stay again, but would hope that Hyatt would invest a little to iron out some details. We did appreciate being allowed a late checkout on our last day, plus great responsiveness from housekeeping.

Google
This was a major disappointment. The pictures on the hotel's website show updated and clean rooms. The room we got was dirty and broken. The a/c unit stopped working in the middle of the night. The TV didn't work. The shower faucet handle fell off. The bathroom had mold and mildew on the walls/corners. I honestly feel like we were lied to and purchased a room under false pretenses. How can you advertise updated rooms without a mention that some of the rooms are still old and disgusting? The location was good, but that's about it. Avoid this hotel. You'll be better off at a motel on the side of the highway.

Matt B.

Google
10 years ago I remember really liking this place, but the upkeep has markedly slacked. You'll be asked after booking if you'd like to upgrade to a "renovated" room: the un-renovated rooms feel like slightly more accommodating Motel-6s, the renovated rooms feel as though they were designed by a blindfolded mason. The shower door wouldn't stay shut and was continually drafty; light switches were hidden and counter-intuitive; we had no cups for coffee or body wash; and the walls in all rooms are paper thin, heard everything our neighbors said and did. For the price they charge, I very much recommend staying somewhere else.

Yelp
Hotel Lincoln was a great stay. The staff was nice and welcoming from the moment we checked in. The room was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing visit. The location is one of the best parts. You are right next to the zoo and Lincoln Park, which makes morning walks really peaceful and easy. It is also close to plenty of places to eat and explore, so you can get around without much effort. Overall, it is a solid hotel in a great area with friendly service. I would stay here again.

Yelp
We stayed here for a wedding at the beginning of Aug 2025. The room cost was very high, and the lobby looked promising. We got in late, so we checked in and headed to our room. I do not remember the room number, but I do know it was on the 6th floor, maybe 612 or 614. We got into the room, lowered the temp as best we could, unpacked, and hit the sack. My wife opted to be the first to shower. She yelled out of the bathroom for a life preserver, she didn't want to sink in the lake that was now in our bathroom from the leaky tub. Not able to locate the life preserver she needed, I boarded a life raft and paddle in to save her. Yes, right there in the bathroom was indeed Lake Michigan. I was able to dry up most of the water, and I decided I'd have ago with the shower. Water pressure and temperature were both good. I didn't notice any water spraying out, and the curtain was fully in the tub. At the completion of my shower, I boarded my lift raft, luckily for me I had tied it off next to the tub, to head out to the room. My wife said we needed to try and get a new room. The shower leaking, along with the small amounts of mold in the bathroom ceiling, the peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, and overall tiredness of the room was too much. I called the front desk and the person who was working was very nice and understanding. She said they had another room on the 4th floor that we could switch to. I said before I pack everything up and switch to a room that is equally bad or worse, let me please come look at it first. Smart move on my part. The room was equally as bad. We went down and told her that the room was sadly in the same condition. We offered to pay for an upgraded room, since they were advertising them in the rooms. She said that won't be necessary and was able to secure us a room on the 14th floor, in a room that had been recently upgraded. So we want back to our room on the 6th floor to pack up our stuff. We left the dingy hallways and worn out carpet behind. Sadly, we had to leave out lakefront bathroom behind as well. But like the Jefferson's, we were moving on up. We had arrived to the 14th floor and it was like we were at a different hotel. Now don't get too excited. The hallway was much brighter and more modern, but the cheap thin carpet hadn't seen a vaccum cleaner since the Wright Brothers took thier first flight in 1903, ok maybe not that bad, but still rough. Let's not mention the stains on this carpet too, oh and all the paint that was chipping off and laying on the floor from the elevator doors. We got into our room and it was surpising very nice and clean. We had lots of lighting, tons of plugs, no mold, and a much more pleaseant and refreshed room. Now with that being said, there were still issues or we can call them concerns. The fancy shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel on the wall, well those were all empty. I called the front desk and they brought up a mix of stuff, I could not help but note that the shampoo, conditioner , and shower gel they brought were all from different brands. Oh, and they brought one of each. Yeah, that was enough for me and my wife for our 3 remaining nights. We went out to explore for the day and came back around 5 or so and the room still had not been made up, which I thought was odd. We went out again and once we got back that night it was. Now the shower in the new room, well all of the water stayed in the shower, so that was a win. Whoever the plumber they hired to install the shower knobs clearly was unsure on modern indoor plumbing. The knob to change from the hand held head to the overhead rain head was installed upside down, so it would not turn properly which made switching between the heads a challenge, and they didn't use the sets screw to lock it on. So I wiggled it enough and it freed it from being upside down, but the other handle was upside down too. Oh well, we made it work. The pressure and temperature were also great. The times we spoke to the front desk, everyone was nice and friendly So sad to see such a property that is not properly taken care of. Here you get a 1 star hotel at 5 star prices. It is in a great location, but I wouldn't stay here again.

Yelp
At first glance our hotel room looked modern, up to date, and cool. Took us less than two hours to figure out that it was all a facade. The tv didn't work, claimed a "scrambled channel or network". The phone did not work and was just for show. The curtains didn't open all the way. The shower head DID NOT WORK, and the button for it had broke off and was not replaced. The iron had a crack in it and pulled the fabric of my dress. The bathroom door is a sliding door that barely closes (and it's right next to the bed). There was no stationary items to take notes (I know we all have smart phones but I had to go all the way down to the front desk for a pen to sign a card). One of the lightbulbs kept flickering and their only solution was to take it out. We asked for water from the front desk and were told they didn't have any! The staff was nice, and every time we called for an issue someone showed up immediately. One of the staff ended up telling us that we were put in a "model room" and it was intended just for show ‍ I will say this: the location was nice, a lot going on in this area, and the rooftop bar and cafes were great. Had it not been for the fact that we were there for a wedding weekend, and were barely in the room, we would've asked to switch. They did end up comping a night due to everything not working which is why I gave it two stars and not one.

Yelp
This review is for the rooftop restaurant "JDV by Hyatt" NOT the hotel itself. I came her for brunch in the summer, which was lovely, and had excellent views of the city, but the food was mid/sub-par at best. You could tell that it was cheap inexpensive quality, and wasn;t prepared with care. As soon as I saw it, I knew what I was in for. And sure enough when I started eating it, I realized that I couldve made something better at home. The layout felt like a cluttered pooldeck. No warmth, no welcoming feel - just a bit weird. Overall Disappointing and insanely overpriced! The server was super friendly and nice, but was a little clueless and not attentive. It was only made nice by the bottomless mimosas and company we had, but I will not be returning here.

Yelp
We stayed here for our wedding weekend, and we have nothing but FABULOUS things to say about Hotel Lincoln. We were upgraded to a suite, which was so perfect! There was plenty of room to get ready - 2 bathrooms. The bed was super comfortable. They are pet friendly (with a fee) and our dog loved the hotel too. We were steps away from our wedding ceremony venue and all of the action (green city farmer's market on Saturday). We have previously been to the rooftop for a drink, and although we didn't have time this stay, we will be back again!

Yelp
This is my 2nd Hyatt property in a month and both have been misses in all ways. The only 2 redeeming qualities: fantastic water pressure and centrally located. Now the bad: 6x6 bathroom, 10x10 room, so cheaply decorated, not clean, walls are literally so thin and bldg so old, you can clearly hear every single word of your neighbor thru the dusty vent in the bathroom... Pixs speak for themselves..., Hyatt officially sucks.

Yelp
WORST hotel I've ever stayed at as in EVER. Deceiving doesn't even begin to cover it. The pictures look great online, but don't fall for it this place is the Tinder catfish of hotels. Does anyone even work here? We called the front desk, concierge, room service... no answer. The only service we got here was self-service. The room? Smells like 1985 somewhere between an ashtray and mildew. The décor matches the smell: if "post-apocalyptic Airbnb" was a design style, this hotel nailed it. The staff? Rude and unhelpful, like we were inconveniencing them by checking in. Honestly, I've gotten warmer welcomes from TSA agents. Yes, the location is great. But honestly, sleeping on a park bench nearby might be a better option at least the air is fresher. We booked through another app where the reviews looked decent, but clearly those were written by magicians, bots, or hostages. On Yelp, the truth comes out: this place is a full-blown dump. We came for a romantic weekend to celebrate my husband's accomplishment. Instead, we spent the night waiting for morning like contestants on Survivor. Romantic? Only if your idea of romance is gagging in unison while dialing a phone that never gets answered. And yes I'm still here. We leave Tuesday, but since no one actually works at this hotel, I decided to write this review before checking out just to see if anyone is awake enough to notice. Spoiler: probably not. This place should be ashamed of what they charge. "Shithole" honestly feels too generous. I hate this hotel. Ugh.

Yelp
A destination wedding brought us here. We were not impressed. Overpriced, shabby rooms sprinkled throughout an old crusty hotel. The elevators were small and shoulder scrunching. Bad art deliberately hung flea market-like in the lobby. The blight was camouflaged by fashionable baubles attached to the walls. Call it decrepitude diversion. Our room had a super small bathroom, a filthy window air conditioner with cracked vents and missing buttons with a horrible view of brown tenement housing and rusty pipes. Water stains decorated the ceiling and wall edging. Yuck! Clientle leaned toward the 20 to 30 year-old professional crowd seemingly impressed by shabby chic, desired decandence, and mocktails. They pay big bucks for this pile of bunk. Cha-ching! We had brunch reservations at the rooftop restaurant, one huge problem, the chef showed up nearly two hours late while guests sat hangry entertained by the apologetic yet witty waitstaff. We eventually ate. The breakfast bill for 3 people (no booze, tip included) was $140. Ouch! On the positive side, staff were outgoing, friendly, and helpful. Verdict? Little value here, the final bill was chock-full of nickle and dime charges (resort fees, exorbitant valet parking fees, insane Chicago taxes). Everything is overpriced in this big old crusty American city. Avoid! Note to self, NO MORE DESTINATION WEDDINGS! EVER!

Yelp
If I could I would give this hotel 0 stars. LADIES: do not stay here. Absolutely not safe, and front desk or security doesn't seem to care. I had a man try to enter my room for a while and his back was facing the door (I looked through the peephole) so his face wouldn't be seen. I let the front desk know and security and they played it off as "oh someone must've had the wrong room". They switched my rooms for me, but I still felt uneasy. I left the hotel. Also to note there is no security measure for the elevator. Anyone can just walk in from the street and go up to the rooms without a key card.

Quick and easy service and accessibility is perfect, didn't take but 5 minutes to check in and get to our room

Yelp
Great location, nice and clean, good, professional staff, but the room itself was a little lacking. No fridge, the bathroom door would not completely close so there was no privacy there, and the sink/shelf in the bathroom was installed in such a way as to make shaving and face washing cumbersome. With that said, I would stay there again, mostly because of the location and view of Lake Michigan. Letter grade: B

Michael B.

Yelp
Where to start...1964 Red Roof Inn amenities at 2025 Hyatt Regency prices.. The air conditioner sounds like a lawnmower, the room refrigerator is just a twinkle in someone's eye, the bathroom is great if you're a very small person, say 3 foot 4. No room service, no bottled water, no coffee refill for the room coffee maker.. check in at 3, check out asap.

Yelp
If I could rate this hotel is zero, I definitely would. I do not recommend staying here. Staff is highly unprofessional and rude. Clearly everyone is very unhappy with their job. The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is that the housekeeping is probably the most pleasant to interact with. After getting locked out of my room accidentally, I went downstairs to ask for another hotel key card where I had a member of staff get combative with me that he was unable to help me and I needed to ask a member of house keeping to get me back into the room. I told him how can I ask housekeeping to let me into my room I could be anybody off the street. When I called him out to the front desk manager, he then tried to say that I was the liar. This was just one of many awful interactions with the staff. I won't even start with the roof top bar experience.

Brian J.

Yelp
This hotel is riddled with mold! The first room I was in smelled musky and had clear black mold in the window ac unit. They moved me into an upgraded room after I complained, and the second room smelled even muskier and had more black mold in the ac unit. I was able to get a full refund which is why I'm giving 2 stars.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Great staff , great location. We love the roof top bar, the adjacent restaurant and adjacent coffee shop. We arrived early and they held our bags until check in time, texted us when our room was ready. The room was clean and comfortable . Everyone from the front desk to housekeeping was exceptional .

Yelp
A friend gifted me and my husband a nights stay. All I can say about this place was it was okay. I liked the location. Our room was small, decorated in dark colors, so it felt REALLY small. It appeared to be clean, but my husband noticed there was no in-room refrigerator. And only 1 of the 2 elevators were in operation. there was another elevator but it stopped operating after midnight. We had dinner at the Americano restaurant which was very good. I had the chicken breast BLT - and the hubs had the angus cheeseburger - both were super yum! And when we told the waitress our Coke/Diet Cokes were flat she brought our drinks out in cans. So the hotel gets points from me for having a good restaurant. I was disappointed because we never had the opportunity to venture to the rooftop bar because it closed at midnight and we arrived back at the hotel at 11:57 (we walked 3/4's of the way from Wrigley due to no buses). But seriously, tell me what self-respecting bar in Chicago closes at midnight on a Saturday?!! ...points deducted! Overall, for a less than 24-hour getaway-that WE did not have to pay for, except for our meals-it was okay. I have definitely stayed in worse places.

Max A.

Yelp
This hotel actually saved my life and my dogs; I did not stay but planned to take my frenchie to the farmers market across the street. Upon arrival, he nearly died from the intense heat despite giving him water nonstop and constantly carrying him everywhere I went. It wasn't even that hot out, the whole situation just took a turn for the worst. We headed to the nearest business, Hotel Lincoln. We went into the hotel lobby and cooled down a bit. The dog was severely ill initially but after an hour in the AC, he slowly improved. We were freaking out and had to be noticed by staff who did nothing but help, show us to the bathroom and where we could receive the most amount of air conditioning. I am definitely going to stay here in the future. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Hotel Lincoln saved a furry family member.

Akash R.

Yelp
Good prices, Rooms are big, I got a nice room for 30% the price of what I paid to stay by the river, pics attached, great deal for the price, I've seen people charge $300+ for similar looking rooms Service is excellent, they also have a rooftop restaurant, I didn't try it! Front desk ladies are helpful and pay attention to detail Check in at 1:30 AM, checked out at 11 AM.

Yelp
Stayed here for a night in December.first, the positives: I love the location! Very near Lincoln Park Zoo, Lake Shore Drive, and lots of restaurants and nightlife. Staff is VERY friendly and helpful. There's a cute coffee shop in the lobby with great drinks too (grabbed an iced latte and a dirty chai). The hotel is dog friendly which I think is awesome, and makes those traveling with pets feel welcome. Negatives: It's pricey for what it is. It is older, but I don't mind that. The issue more stems with a heating system fan that goes on/off all night, and small things like mildew at the bottom of a shower curtain. The bathroom is also super small. We had a junior suite so we could get the king size bed, and I'd requested a view of the park (which would also be the same as the lake view). Instead we had a view the back of some buildings. I think the room is great for a family or if you want to share with friends as there is a cold out couch. I'm also not a fan of "resort fees", and this place has them. $15/night. Overall, I like it for the staff, location and charm, but it's overpriced in my opinion. I might stay here again, but I will probably look for other hotels in the neighborhood as well.

Yelp
My wife and I spent three nights at the Hotel Lincoln and our review is a mixed bag. The hotel is somewhat decrepit and its best days were clearly a few decades ago. Our "suite" was a largish corner room (nice view) with a couch and overstuffed chair. There was a small desk; also a large tv that worked well. AC was provided by window units on separate controls that came on and went off in rapid succession and roared loudly. Our bed was supposedly a queen, perched on a larger poor-fitting bedframe. Make down service was not everyday and towels had to be requested. It took several requests to get an ice bucket, as none was there on our arrival. There was no in-room mini-fridge or microwave. Our in-room coffee maker was never restocked, even when requested. On the positive side, there is an excellent rooftop bar and a small coffee shop in the lobby. Valet parking, while exorbitantly priced, worked well and the attendants were quick, efficient, and personable. Although it was said that street parking was available and a lower priced outdoor lot existed several blocks away, these didn't really appear to be viable alternatives. The only real advantage of the Hotel Lincoln may be its location, which is across the street from the Lincoln Park Zoo and just blocks from the lake and other downtown attractions.

Yelp
I chose the Hotel Lincoln because it was in walking distance to an event we were going to. It was also close to places to eat and shop. As well as being close to the Chicago History Museum. We did self parking across the street just south of the hotel. 35$ a day instead of around 65$ a day for Vallet. We didn't need in and out service so it worked out well. We were warmly greeted in the hotel and check in was easy. We even got a bottle of bubbly for our anniversary. Yes the resort free is ridiculous, lots and lots of hotels charge this even with less and less services offered. You pay it and move on. Our room was on the 10th floor with a view of the park. You could see the lake if you went to the window and turned to the right. We weren't sitting in the room just staring out the window all day so it didn't mater. The room was small but clean. Great water pressure in the shower. Enough hangers for cloths and space to unpack things. No maid service and we didn't need it. I can make a bed myself and towels and toiletries lasted the two nights we were there. My only complaints would be lack of breakfast. I hate the to-go bags with a muffin and a bottle of water. With restaurants being open there is no reason not to offer real food. Second complaint would be J Parker. It was loud , cold, severely decorated not welcoming. But the food was good. Server was cute. When we checked out we were able to leave our luggage while we went out to get lunch. Check out was friendly and we were told Happy Anniversary again when we picked up our bags and left. Leaving the car parked and getting an Uber was easy. This was our first time using an Uber. I tried the Taxi app but we were never able to get a ride. I would totally pick this location again when we come back to Chicago.

Yelp
Walls are paper thin. you can hear the people next to you, you can hear the people above you, even when they are using the bathroom. so gross! -The carpet was ripped up in spots. -The air conditioning was moldy, - there were flies in my room. - smoke alarms where going off at random. -holes in the walls

Yelp
Parker J lounge only - Top 2 cocktails were unavailable (likely due to the olive oil infused gin) but the server had no idea until AFTER orders were made and had to come back and tell us. Also, later on, a syrup was not available for a different cocktail... on a Saturday that wasn't busy nonetheless. The whole place smells musty because of the plants they are trying to grow! It smells like a greenhouse and NOT in a good way. The gnats are also not pleasant to have flying around the overly sweet drinks. Concrete furniture is chipped and sharp all over too. Bussers took a friend's drink twice before they were finished without any notice. The fries are mediocre and need be fried longer/more crispy. Olives are overly salted and the spices/herbs added overpower the nice texture and flavor the olives do have. ALSO $16 for a low ABV cocktail is absurd, that is the same price as a normal cocktail on the menu. Find new mixologist to figure out a better menu.

Yelp
Stayed here for a few nights around July 4th. Although it has very friendly staff and the location is fantastic, I was overall pretty letdown at this place. The space itself is really small. The room just consisted of a bed and a tiny desk. It felt like there wasn't much room to really lay out your luggage. Also not much a view. Other reviews are right that furniture was definitely a bit dated. They have a rooftop bar called the J Parker and managed to check it out once during our stay. It's an okay view and vibe, but nothing I'd write home about. Again though, location was pretty hard to beat. Only about a 10-15min walk from the beach, Lincoln Park Zoo, and also brown/red lines. Parking can be tricky and involved some car reparking, but if you pay attention to signs and are willing to walk a couple minutes, you can definitely park in the area for free. Overall though, probably wouldn't go here again anytime soon. I think there are other locations a bit better, but this is a good (and probably only) option you get in the area.

Yelp
The most important thing about the Hotel Lincoln is location location location. That's the selling point. And you can't beat it. Hotel Lincoln was built in 1928. The neighborhood grew around it. The room we were in felt like Grandma Betty's spare room. Oddly shaped. Mismatched and oddly decorated. The plug situation was not optimal. (There was some cirque du soliel moves to plug my phone next to the bed.) the room was clean. The rug was ugly. And shower small (but clean with great water pressure). And the bed was great. This is an old hotel with some quirkiness but you can't beat the location.

Yelp
First and foremost, our room felt clean which is always my biggest concern. The staff was very friendly and nice. Beds were comfortable and our lake view was awesome from the 12th floor. We also thoroughly enjoyed the J Parker bar for cocktails before heading out to dinner. A few cons: no fridge, ice machine only on every other floor, and there was a "wind tunnel" whistling sound that was coming from the bathroom vent the entire length of our stay. The bathroom door is sliding so we couldnt really keep that sounds out and the door kept coming off the hinges and getting stuck.

Yelp
An amazing location with lots of style. This is an older lodging hotel renovated boutique style. Vestiges of the seedy place it used to be linger, and maybe some ghosts, but I dug the vibe and the authenticity. The staff was super helpful, valet was fast and affordable, and the on site coffee shop was a treat. The only downside was the very hard mattress. Can't say I slept great. Other than that what a great spot.

Yelp
We stayed here for 3 nights and were frustrated the entire stay. The rooms are so small there was not even anywhere to put your suitcase. The bathroom was so small when you tried to use the toilet your elbow hit the vanity every time. The walls are so thin we could hear a normal conversation from the next room. our door did not even fit in the frame - you could literally see between the door and the frame to the hall. The room had been updated with new furnishings, but the hallways were disgusting and dingy. the carpet was old and looked as if it had not been vacuumed in days. Very sad because the location is great. Too bad the hotel is not.

Yelp
Terrible hotel and service is the worst. Just returned from 2 days at this place . Booked a king suite for 2 nights and already paid. Put into a handicapped rom with a double bed and a Murphy . Changed rooms to a queen since no more king beds. Stayed in this room and air not working. And it just kept getting worse. I was charged $948 for 2 nights and 44 for some amenity fee. Haha and two waters. And don't have a a record of me staying in another room. Hmmmm? And left an item in Saturday. As of COB Monday still no response. Btw their extra small elevators only had one working all weekend. Hyatt hotel you may need to rethink this choice.

Yelp
An absolutely nightmare experience. The room was adaquite. The heater/airconditioner unit in our room did not work properly. It was either on full blast or off. There was no regulating it. The TV remote was so old that it could only pull up certain channels. Generally it showed a split screen for the news. The worst was when my husband tried to take a shower in the bathtub. It was a combo bath/shower. When he went to take a towel off the rack the entire rack came off the wall and sliced his let open. I packed him with towels to try and stop the bleeding, ran down to the front desk for help. The manager was not there( nor was she there the whole day). The sweet young woman at the desk gave me a couple of bandages, told me where the ice machine was, and directed me to the Walgreens several blocks away. Though we had paid for two nights we decided to check out that evening to get some medical attention. The hotel might be in a good location but they need some training. All I can say is find somewhere else to stay. The only reason for the one star is that the coffee bar is pretty good.

Yelp
Hipster cool vibes and great customer service BUT uncomfortable hotel: mattresses and pillows are old and uncomfortable, and I am not a picky person and usually can sleep like a rock. For this reason I couldn't stay here again. Other nuances: only 3 small and old stuffy elevators that get very busy and smelly. Rooms are small and show wear and tear. The hotel is historic and across from the park and zoo, but not close to the El. There are restaurants in old town 6 minutes of a walk away. Inside the hotel there is a coffee shop, a rooftop bar, and they also host Sushi suite and sushi by bou (yum).

Yelp
At first, I had high hopes for the Hotel Lincoln; it had sort of a simple European spartan charm. Small room with a very small bathroom area. No shower, but a tub that looked at least 80 years old. The location couldn't be much better; right across street from Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan and within walking distance of the Old Town entertainment district. After staying one day in the room, I lost my favorable opinion. The elevator carpet was filthy one day, the next day carpet was gone. The rooms very clean, but the common areas lacked that same level of cleanliness. My stay was on one of the coldest nights of the season, which might explain why the very loud heating unit would run on for three straight minutes, shut off for a minute, then back on again for another three. This kept on all night and prohibited me from getting a good night's rest. On 8:30 AM sharp, hammer drilling commenced on the floor directly below, which was under construction. An unwelcomed wake-up call. The bed was too firm for my liking, but that is a personal preference, others may disagree. The room was lacking a refrigerator. The rooftop bar's staff was friendly and very professional; no complains there and when the enclosed rooftop atrium is completed, it will have a nice view over Lincoln Park and beautiful Lake Michigan. Parking in a self-service lot across the street was a reasonable (for Chicago) $28/day. Valet parking at the hotel was $68/day. The snack bar in the lobby was lacking and over-priced; but it's a captive audience, not much else in the immediate area. A $15 report fee was tacked on at check-in; it gets you WiFi and two house drinks (the only free beers were Miller Lite and Modelo) not my kind of beers. Overall, location, location, location is what the Hotel Lincoln has going for it; not much else.

Yelp
There was no soap, we used shampoo to wash our hands all weekend. The hairdryer is broke, both outlets by bed didn't work so couldn't charge phone there. And the TV had poor to no reception. Read the captions on my photos. Do not stay here. Very gross. The tub drain is clogged so you stand in deep water while showering. Dirt, mold, holes, rust everywhere

Yelp
Welcoming staff, great views but somewhat lived-in room for a 4-star hotel. Minor annoyances like outlets around the bed not working seem easily fixable; the same goes for a good dusting. Being a robe person, the robelessness irked me. Also, lackluster wifi, loud AC, and no fridge. On the awesome side of things: four huge windows, one even in the walk-in closet (which is the size of a small NYC bedroom). There's something lovely about a window in an unexpected place; it suggests shoving a tiny desk in there and writing a novel. Overall, the location by the highly strollable Lincoln Park (and zoo if you're so inclined), plus sunrise and sunset views, can't be beat: reporting from a 10th-floor corner room featuring north, west, and even some lake views.

Yelp
The experience that my husband and I had at Hotel Lincoln was so above and beyond, personal and truly one of a kind! When I walked in after about a 6 hour drive, ready to dump our stuff in the room and relax, I noticed a bit of heightened energy in the lobby and as it turned out the staff had quite an unexpected event of construction and/or issues with entire floors being unavailable that they unfortunately did not even know about until they stepped into work that morning! Honestly I probably would've quit my job on the spot! Haha! But these professionals handled this situation with hospitality expertise! I've never seen hotel staff work so hard for their customers to make sure they were provided with a solution to the whole "inconvenience" believe me, with the discounts they offered and the service they provided... they turned an inconvenience into a dream stay! We might actually be coming back to Chicago in November and do you know where we might book a hotel for our next stay? Yeah, you guessed it! Hotel Lincoln!!! "Whatever you are, be a good one" -and they most definitely are! When I think of Chicago, I think of Hotel Lincoln and you really should too! I highly recommend it!

Yelp
The hotel deserves a zero star rating. Attempted to find an elegant ideally located hotel for my son and I during his orientation at Loyola. Shame on me for not reading the reviews prior to booking. The overpriced suite that we reserved had a completely rotted door jamb that rendered the lock non-functional and the tub backed up with water while showering. These types of issues are not unheard of in an old hotel but combined with an uncooperative and rude front desk staff, I felt helpless, unsafe and ignored. You have been warned - avoid this place and stick with a reputable or consistently better reviewed property.

Yelp
The friendly employees were so nice as to let myself and I use the washroom on our way to the lincoln park zoo, from the nearby parking facility! Theres skme wonderful decor here, a wooden parque floor, romantic lighting, and the stairwell leading to the rooms is full of artwork!

Yelp
Good location - easy access (walk, Uber, eBike, scooter, etc) to Lincoln Park, beach, Zoo, Old Town. Great staff - excellent check-in and housekeeping. Facility is severely dated - very small rooms with pocket door on bathroom (no privacy) and no exhaust fan. No room fridge (there go leftovers) nor pool. Workout room adequate. Queen bed felt small and mattress sloped on one side, making it even smaller. No extra blanket as normally stocked in hotels. Housekeeping attempted entry at 8:30a tho "Do not disturb" hanger was in place. Bathroom sink backed up quickly - but instant hot water. Not important to me but bathroom products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) mixed brands. Lacks pride in presentation. 3 elevators with visible wear/tear. Only 2 operating on arrival, and one of those down the next morning (foul odor, found & resolved by late morning). Hotel "restaurants" = a Sushi restaurant, a Sushi suite, a breakfast bar and a rooftop bar/restaurant advertised for evening access but too full. Overflow bar w/o table service. Luckily The Americano restaurant is around the corner & fabulous! (Not mentioned on the website but seems to be partnered with Hotel Lincoln.) The worst part? $1400+ for 3 nights. Would never return nor recommend

Yelp
I honestly have no complaints about this hotel. The staff were extremely nice and helpful all the way from check in to check out. I stayed here for a week while transitioning into my job and it was perfect! It was only about a 15-20 minute drive downtown, which made the commute amazing! There's plenty of free parking in the park, so that was a great way to save some money. There's also other paid parking options in the area so that was a stress-free part! The rooftop bar in the hotel is very cool, and even got a free drink when checking in which was a nice added perk! The pet fee is included in the daily room rate, which was also great as I've stayed in some hotels where they surprise you with fees. There's also an amazing coffee shop in the lobby! Only cons would be that there's no fridge in the room which was a bit challenging when staying there for an extended period of time. The valet parking in my opinion was a bit overpriced, but it's definitely there as an option!

Yelp
Do not use the safe at this hotel. I accidentally left jewelery in the safe and when I called, I was told there was no record from security/lost and found re: receiving the jewelery. I have called numerous times and was told by Hilton (parent company) that someone would call me back but have never received a call. Love the hotel and location but dont use the safe or expect to see your valuables again if you forget them. My bad for forgetting to check the safe before I checked out but my items should have been secure.

Yelp
Lovely young woman checked us in and asked us if we wanted to upgrade to a room with a view. We happily agreed only to find out that our room with a view was on the third floor out of 12. are our view consisted of the midway point of trees in a park with homeless in the park who yelled all night long. Upon check out, the young women at the desk was snippy to me, so I stuck around long enough to watch that she treated everyone like that. It is a lovely location, but to charge extra for a view that really wasn't was a disservice to customers staying at the hotel. Three nights of constantly interrupted sleep was a major disappointment when I was there for four days for meetings. Also important to note that the café on the first floor was not open the entire duration. A plus? They did offer the use of free umbrellas.

Yelp
3.5? We got stuck in traffic coming into Chicago, so we needed to get in the room to shower and get ready for a wedding STAT. No luck. Their computer system was down, so there was some emailing and texting that had to happen. It took forever. The room was OK. Great view of Lincoln Park, though, and wonderful location.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Lincoln the weekend of our wedding in October (we had our wedding block here). Here is the breakdown: The staff was friendly. We were greeted with smiles. When we checked in, the front desk asked if we were celebrating anything special... still not sure if they were joking or being serious? (I laughed it off at the time if he was in fact joking... I was under a lot of wedding stress the day before our wedding!) We were a bit disappointed when we got to our room because my in laws had prepared welcome gift baskets for everyone (including us) and we did not receive ours... though we did receive it by the time we got home from our rehearsal dinner later that night, along with a bottle of champagne from the hotel! (That made up for things!) The staff was great about offering to help us with our car, bags, etc. when we arrived and when we left. We had a LOT of items in our room when we were checking out (decorations, gifts, etc.), and we sincerely appreciate the help we got in cleaning out our room and packing it into our cars. I visited the coffee shop on my wedding day and had a delicious coffee before heading to the salon. We also went to the bar (the J Parker) after our wedding reception and had brunch there the day after the wedding. The bar was very accommodating when we arrived after the wedding. I understand my in laws had some issues with the brunch service, however from our perspective the food was good and it was an enjoyable experience being up there on a nice day. I also liked the bathroom in our room. The shower head was powerful, which was relaxing for a stressed bride! We also liked the soaps. Feedback that we got from many of our guests is that their rooms were small. Like, REALLY small considering the price they paid. Some were given smaller rooms and/or beds than they had expected after making reservations. The suites, however, were pretty massive. Those of us who booked those or were upgraded were very happy with those sizes. We were also happy that everyone who needed to was able to check out late. Always appreciated when you have had a late night the night before! Our bed was a little too hard for me, and I heard this from others as well. While I could attribute this to nerves, I did not sleep very well the night before the wedding (but neither did my maid of honor). Maybe this would be comfortable for some guests, but it was not my preference. The location for the hotel was absolutely perfect for us. For a fall wedding in Chicago, we wanted to be near all the beautiful scenery and landmarks Lincoln Park has to offer... and this was exactly what we got. Ubers & Lyfts were also easy to get from the hotel. Overall, I enjoyed the hotel. Given that we are locals, I would recommend it to out of towners (with some caveats). For location, I really think it is ideal to be close to the tourist attractions and also to the neighborhoods.

Yelp
Where to start... it's a dump! The rooms are grossly outdated. Carpet is dirty, used Qtip in the chair cushion. Smells were indescribably. I thought because it's a Hyatt hotel I was safe and didn't bother reading the reviews. I greatly regret that decision! The elevator was dirty. The stairs were dirty. The only kind thing I can say is we didn't find bed bugs. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. Repulsive

Yelp
Hotel was great and people were friendly. Don't rent a car because there is no place to park. Valley parking was sixty eight dollars a Day. Many restaurants bars in the area walking distance. Hipster vibe which was pretty cool . Ten dollars to uber to heart of city....

Yelp
Had a fantastic night after another hotel totally screwed up my reservation....the hotel is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, very stylish, the beds ridiculously comfortable. I was checked in quickly with no hassles whatsoever, given a drink voucher for the rooftop bar. Went up and the view is breathtaking!! Rollie the bartender was a fantastic host, service was amazing, and he makes the best margarita I think I've ever had. My friend and I ordered food at the bar, and it was fast, and it was absolutely delicious. I will definitely go back for tons of reasons, but especially Rollie's margaritas!!

Yelp
I love Hotel Lincoln. It is the best hotel in Chicago. Not only is it in the funniest and safest part of Chicago, the staff are amazing, especially Kyra & Mario. They will take great care of you. And you can't beat the location, it is a one mile walk to all of the museums and 2 miles from Wrigley Field. The Lincoln Park Zoo, amazing restaurants, and theaters are just a few blocks away. The rooftop bar and hotels restaurants are also excellent

Yelp
Soooo nice (kind of small rooms) . . . but not inexpensive, and nothing to write home about. I wish I had known more about it before visiting, as I wouldn't have checked out and asked for valeted car, prior to visiting the farmers market across the street before departing. While very nice, it wasn't anything the threw it over the top for 5 stars.

Yelp
I came to this hotel because someone at my company recommended it. The lack of professionalism mentioned in other reviews was definitely felt. Got a breakfast voucher to a restaurant that wasn't open because "no one can reach the staff". The little cafe off the lobby was out of food. When I checked into my room there was trash from the last guests on the bathroom. The "lake view" doesn't actually face the lake... so you can kind of see it if you stand off to one side. Two of the electrical outlets didn't work. But the total salt in the wound was the $35 "amenity" fee that isn't disclosed anywhere and they just throw in the charge when you check out. There are a lot of great uniquely Chicago boutique hotels, but I'd make the one the last on the list.
