Hotel Madera Hong Kong (Kowloon, Hong Kong) 7 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Thread count and square footage are important enough, but what the boutique hotel audience cares about above all is character. This is why, in a city with some top-flight luxury hotels, you might find yourself at Hotel Madera, in Kowloon. From the lobby installation, which is outfitted like a Fifties Hong Kong sound stage, to the rooftop lounge, with its view over the rooftops back towards Hong Kong Island, you’ll find every aspect of the Madera is focused on making an impression." - Tablet Hotels

I recently stayed at Hotel Madera Hong Kong and had a wonderful experience. The location is fantastic, making it easy to explore nearby attractions and restaurants. ||The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the exceptional service provided by Shirley at the front desk. From the moment I arrived, she greeted me with a warm smile and was incredibly helpful. Her local recommendations for dining and activities truly enhanced my visit. ||I highly recommend this hotel!

Overall a nice stay. The hotel is clean and has good facilities. The strange thing is they only offer water for a day. The shower head is loose at the end so u get water spraying out at the back of the shower head too. The door handle was adjacent to its hole, not sure if is the design or it was really not fitting well. One thing i do not like for the hotel is that the toilet light is 2 in 1. Hence it is very bright at night if u choose to leave the lights on for the toilet. There is no door to close to block the light. Also the basins were kinda low, so i need to keep bending down a lot. I’ve got a free upgrade to a higher floor with jacuzzi for my girl’s birthday, very grateful for their kind gesture. Choose this room if is within your budget. The jacuzzi is good after a long day of walking! Service staff were smiley and polite. And walking to Jordan B1 exit is less than 5 mins. There is 7-11 right below the hotel and we get free Netflix too!

The hotel is near Jordan metro station, exit B1. You can also get here via Citybus A22 or A22 from HKG airport. A22 is faster and drops you off at the Starbucks around the corner. Walkable from High Speed Rail station if without children/elderly/lots of luggages. There are many restaurants nearby if you want a quick bite, note that Temple Night Market and some restaurants in that area are tourist traps though. Note that this hotel does not provide free bottled water or water dispenser, you will need to buy water, but within 5 minutes walk (and/or crossing street), there are 7-11, Watsons, Park nshop and Wellcome. There is no laundry in the hotel, but a laundromat is available next door. First time seeing an outdoor laundromat! Front desk staffs got their job done well. They speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English. We opt out of the room cleaning services during our stay and can't comment on that. 500 HKD/day deposit is required at check in but can be charged on credit card. The room has decent space for luggage and passing around. Restroom has a bathtub and provides shampoo, body wash, conditioner and hand wash. TV has cabel, channels in (at least) Cantonese, Mandarin, English, Japanese are available. Downside: 1) The window curtains, shower curtain and carpet have stains. Wish they can be replaced soon. 2) The restroom has a noticable unpleasant sewer smell. 3) At night time, the fan or AC makes loud sound. Our room's foyer light also turns on and off itself in the middle of the night every night.

The location is excellent, and the staff is very friendly. The gym space is adequate for two people and is kept clean. However, I'd appreciate it if towels were provided and the equipment were updated. Extending the business hours, currently from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., would be beneficial as they are a bit short.

I just had an overnight stay in this hotel, after a late-night arrival into Hong Kong airport. The room I had was nice, comfortable and clean. I don't have much more to say about it, as I left in the morning, without exploring the hotel facilities. But I would stay there again

Oh my gosh, This Hotel is totally to die for! 🌿✨ The rooms are giving major cozy-chic vibes .I was legit shook by how comfy the bed was, like sinking into a fluffy cloud with the softest cotton linens. I slept like a total princess! 😴The bathroom? Obsessed! Especially the Jacucci function —yasss! 🛁💖The staff are literal sweethearts, always serving smiles, and the breakfast spread is a total slay.Plus, the location’s perf for exploring. This place is my new fave, 100% five stars! Can’t wait to come back and live this fairy-tale vibe again. Love you, Kingsley, for making it so extra! 💕 #SlayAllDay

The room was cozy clean and well-facilitated. Very nice spot nearby the metro and the bus stop to the airport. The staff was welcoming. The only negative side was the noise. The last night we lived there, there was construction noise in the morning 08:00-10:00 which interrupted my sleep with out advance notice. But overall was nice

A friend of mine have been here and recommended Madera, walkable distance to “chim sha chui”. To me I think they have larger rooms comparing with others. ||Big thanks to Joe for the upgrade and I need to point out that staffs always greet us with their smile when we head back. Will definitely be back :)

Yelp
Really enjoyed our stay here!! The staff: really attentive, helpful, polite and professional. The room: extremely clean, modern and chic. The shower and jacuzzi bath: amazing. Location: just off Nathan Rd. 2mins from Jordan metro. Price: pretty reasonable. And beautiful view of HK on the 29th floor/ bar/patio. Would definitely stay again when returning!!

Yelp
We booked the Deluxe Queen room. It's a very small space. The bed felt more like a double vs queen. The room was clean although the carpet looked like it could use a deep clean. Quiet street. Rooftop was SMALL. It was a little bigger than our room if anything. Staff was friendly. They can also help you call for a taxi to the airport if needed. It cost us around $268HKD. Not too bad. Wasn't feeling it lugging our luggage to the bus stop. There's definitely plenty of other hotels to choose from if need be.

Yelp
Excellent service and location within Kowloon. Modern vibe. Super walkable to so many good eats, the Jordan Road night market, and public transportation (2 blocks from the Jordan Rd. MTR stop), and very Uber-accessible. I stayed in a Grand Deluxe King/Twin Room (195 USD/night) with my little family of 2 adults and 2 kids under 4. We arrived around 6am in the morning and check-in wasn't until 1pm so they held our luggage while we visited Victoria Peak and had lunch. When we got back, we were able to check-in an hour early at noon which was a pretty easy process. It just required our passports and a credit card and signing some documents. Staff was pretty fluent in English. My room had nice modern styling, a lounge area with a sofa and TV, a super simple kitchenette with a small fridge filled with canned drinks that are included (no extra charge for consuming them), and a bedroom with a king-sized bed and a TV and a smaller bedroom with a twin. The shower water pressure was great (YES!!!) and the Jacuzzi tub- heavenly! Despite all this, I wish the room had a microwave and a slightly bigger fridge. With its perfect location, accommodations, and really fair price point, I'd definitely stay here again. **I suggest bringing adapters to charge your electronic devices. **Free breakfast for one guest per room at their eatery. **Their 29th floor rooftop bar called the Horizonte Lounge has a 2 for 1 (beer or wine by the glass) happy hour deal from 5pm - 9pm, Sunday through Thursday.

Yelp
For a convenient hotel located near Jordan - you can't go wrong with Madera. This hotel is only a few years old and it's certainly very modern from the design to the service. This is no expensive 5 star hotel either, it's in the lower price bracket similar to the Novotel which is one block away. However, I would stay here over many other similarly priced hotels on the Kowloon side. As for getting around, Madera is only 2 short blocks to the main entrance of the Jordan MTR station from where you can get to most areas of HK (with a few connections). The rooms are spacious and all include a jacuzzi bath tub which is a nice touch. They also include a free smart phone so you can make calls and stay connected to the internet while in HK. A pretty good addition is that the first round of the mini bar (includes water, soft drinks and snacks) is free. The Madera includes a rooftop bar about 30 floors above ground which gives some pretty impressive views. There is also a cafe on the third floor which serves pretty good cofee and also has some outdoor seating on top the pretty cute lounge area. A well equipped gym is also onsite as well as a games/movie room (which i didn't get to try). From the airport, the most convenient way to reach this hotel is to catch the CityFlyer bus route A22 which drops you off on Jordan Road only a short stroll from the hotel. You could utilise the excellent Airport Express train to either HK/Central station or Kowloon station but both options require a transfer either by MTR or taxi which is not the most convenient when you have luggage. The CityFlyer buses are quite luxurious and cheap with plenty of room near the door for luggage. I know there are snobs who don't like buses (i normally fall into this category) but when staying at Madera, the bus is definitely the most convenient option to and from the airport. I will definitely stay here again next time that I'm in Kowloon / HK.

Yelp
I stayed here for 6 nights with my boyfriend. It was our first time in Hong Kong, and we were really excited to experience this four-star hotel after reading all the great reviews. Unfortunately our experience was littered with problems, the worst one being the infestation of the room with 20+ plaster bagworms. Here is a summary of our experience: - We arrived to discover 7+ holes in the bed sheets and comforter. We let the hotel know about the holes and they replaced the sheets. - Generally the room was not well-maintained. It had a patched-up rug and sheets, and the rug had many stains. - We found over 20 plaster bagworms on the walls, floors, and furniture, and these are only the places we dared to look. We took pictures (see attached pictures) and a video of the bugs and showed the front desk. All they did was give us a room change. - After doing some research about the bugs, they need about two months in the room to grow to the size we witnessed. How well is the cleaning staff doing its job if the bugs were missed for this long? - Our new room was cleaner, but when we used the tub, it leaked all over the bathroom floor which we had to deal with. - Also, we originally picked this hotel for amenities such as the gym which was closed for renovations. All we got was an acknowledgment of the problems, new sheets, and a room change - we did not come away with the feeling that the hotel staff was apologetic to our experience. We were very disgusted with our experience, and the bugs overshadowed our whole stay.

Yelp
For the price and location, it's so worth it! Centrally located on the Kowloon side and a few steps away from the Jordan MTR station, you would not expect to find such a modern yet unassuming hotel. I booked a standard king size bed room and it was comfortable enough for me and my husband given the compact size of the room. All the furnishings were modern, clean, and sleek. I really enjoyed jacuzzi bathtub and the bathroom mood music that somehow you can't turn off but i was ok with it. The only downside with my experience is the moldy, damp smell in the room. I think it's from the vent because it automatically turns off when you leave the room. Otherwise, I would come back again...maybe get a suite next time. Pro-tip: All guests get free wifi.

Yelp
Great hotel and even better location! Hotel Madera is conveniently located in Kowloon, about two short blocks from the Jordan MTR station. The best part of the hotel is the gorgeous rooftop bar. They have happy hour prices for already inexpensive drinks when taking in the views. The third floor cafe is also very nice, and a good way to enjoy a simple breakfast and tea before starting your day. The staff were very personable and their english was good. Esther and Iaren were my personal favorites and they gave me lots of inside tips about the area and Hong Kong in general. The only thing to perhaps improve would be to add more variety to the music played in the cafe and in the lobby/hallways/elevator. I'm not sure if they noticed, but it seemed like the same few songs played on repeat the whole time I was there. A minor issue however, and overall the hotel was outstanding.

Yelp
This hotel was a wonderful find. The hotel is modern and updated on comfort and amenities. Comfortable beds, and modern restrooms with Jacuzzi tubs make the most of a relaxing stay. The location in Jordan is in walking distance of all shopping and the Night Market. It is also 2 blocks from the K1 bus from the Airport Terminal Kowloon train stop. It is also one block from a Starbucks and two McDonalds. Come for the hotel, stay for the Jordan attractions and shopping.

Yelp
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Madera and all pros definitely outweighed the cons. First the pros: - Service was friendly and helpful. - Really great location, 2 blocks from the Jordan MTR station and close to tons of restaurants. - We never did get up to the rooftop bar for happy hour but it looked lovely. The cafe on the 3rd floor was great for a simple breakfast and coffee or tea. - Our king room was compact but well designed and we never felt cramped or crowded. It also had all basic amenities such as safe, hair dryer (which was probably the best hotel hair dryer I've ever used), iron, power adapters, etc. - They give you a free smart phone for your stay so you can make local calls, look up maps and restaurants, etc while you're on the go. This was actually indispensable. - Free wi-fi everywhere in the hotel. The cons: - all of the power in your room shuts off automatically when you remove your key from the holder. This includes AC, etc. I understand and appreciate the conservation of energy, but it took us almost our whole trip to sort out a comfortable temperature and there was a general feeling and smell of dampness always present. -they use a VERY intense fragrance in their lobby which I personally found to be very overpowering and not too pleasant and my eyes would sting every time we entered. Also, an additional note: while service was overall very good we found out something after we left. One of my co-workers back in NY had called the hotel to see if he could order a bottle of champagne for us as a gift for New Years Eve. The hotel staff would not accommodate his request, which we all found to be pretty strange because that's not an unusual request for a hotel that isn't a complete dump. And they have a bar there so procuring the champagne couldn't have been a problem. So, a little puzzled by that. Weird service issue aside it's a solid hotel.

Yelp
My first time staying at this hotel and count me as a new fan of this place. The hotel is located in Jordan but only a few blocks from TST and the MTR. I found prices here are reasonable and they have a really friendly and helpful staff. Room sizes are ample sized and really clean and bonus points for the handy device. Seriously, there really isn't much not to like here!

Yelp
Had a very comfortable stay here. The front desk service was excellent and very accommodating. In addition, this hotel had everything you could imagine to make your stay here convenient, including a free phone that you could take with you to make international calls and acts as a hotspot when you are roaming around the City. Great location to jump on the public transportation. Overall, 5/5 stars!
