Restaurant Meudon

"Imposing granite pillars and neatly laid tables help to bring an air of classical elegance to this restaurant inside the Hotel Meudon. The dining room overlooks impressive mature sub-tropical gardens, which also contribute to the all-round lovely setting. The concise, daily changing menu is Cornish at heart, especially when it comes to seafood. Dishes like Mylor crab filo tart are understated yet well-executed and wholly enjoyable." - Michelin Inspector

Booked a Travelzoo night as a relaxing getaway. We weren’t disappointed. This hotel is well located just outside of Falmouth. ||With lovely gardens, even in February, an easy stroll to the small beach and direct access onto the South West Coast Path it favours the outdoor types, like us!||There are other beaches close by and the Golf Club (which is excellent - i’ve played it) is just up the road.||Our room was a good size, had a large bed, was well laid out and had beautiful garden views and a balcony with chairs and a table. There are chairs by the window inside so you can enjoy the view whatever the weather. We also found our room very quiet.||It was out of season and so the hotel was only at about 30% occupation and the staffing was minimised accordingly (as is absolutely necessary these days). This meant service was perhaps a bit slower than usual but we were relaxing not rushing and so it didn’t bother us unduly. ||The limited menu was tasty, nicely cooked and well presented. ||We will definitely return.

If you’re looking for a nursing home experience, this might be the place for you (just be prepared for a fire alarm that goes off constantly). 1. We specifically booked a room with a terrace but were given one with a balcony and smashed glass. We emailed the hotel in advance to stress how important the terrace was to us, but they never even bothered to reply. 2. Breakfast was also a disappointment - limited choices in a cold restaurant, and you don’t even get to decide when to eat - they assign you a time at check-in. 3. They charge £25 per night for bringing a dog, which was never mentioned anywhere beforehand. Raised some of these issues with the staff, but they didn’t care.

I was a little unsure what to expect of this hotel after reading such widely disparate reviews. Firstly, the welcome was lovely. Very helpful and very friendly. The room, (no. 44) was a sea glimpse view room and was very warm (a tad too warm for me but easily overcome by opening the balcony door) and had all you needed for your stay. The bed was very comfortable and it was very clean. The decor, as I read elsewhere, is retro and I liked it as I did throughout the whole hotel. We had our dog with us and a doggy bed, a towel, bowels, poo bags and treats were all brought to our room for her and this is a lovely touch. Because we had our dog with us, we were unable to eat in the main restaurant, instead eating in the lounge. I liked it a lot and the food was very, very nice. The service is a little slow but I honestly don't mind that as I totally understand that recruitment in areas like this is very hard and I would imagine retaining staff tricky and also the staff all seem very young and obviously, have to learn and are probably only there for pocket money. But they were ALL lovely. There are some issues with the hotel and I have sent a separate message to the hotel to discuss this as I do feel some of these issues should be dealt with. Overall though, I think this is a lovely hotel in a fantastic location with staff who do their very best.

We (2 couples) have just spent Christmas 2024 at Hotel Meudon. We booked their 3 night Christmas package: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day.||Lovely welcome, with mulled wine and mince pies, perfect room overlooking the garden, walk-in shower, toiletries. The food, from the first evening to the final breakfast was plentiful, tasty, freshly cooked. Christmas lunch was 6 courses!||Staff are sooooo...genuinely friendly and kind. Which in turn made all the guests friendly and chatty, lots of interaction and laughter. Chris, the Maintenance man, provided a quiz on Christmas Day evening & bingo on Boxing Day evening for anyone who wanted to join in. There were old films showing in the tv room during the day time. Lots of separate areas to sit quietly and read if that's your preference.||The garden is outstanding even in winter, with a fairly steep path leading to Bream Cove, where the Boxing Day swim took place. The garden path also gives access to the coast path.

We booked a Travelzoo 2 day 'special' which included £30 each for an evening meal.|A beautiful hotel set in lovely grounds. The garden view room was fantastic, a comfy bed|and refurbished bathroom with great toiletries.|Falmouth town is a £15 taxi drive away, remember to book well in advance.|The Balti Curry house is well worth a visit.|The hotel is let down by its restaurant.|It is situated in a cold conservatory, with a few electric fires dotted about.|Why weren't the radiators on?|So for £30 you get a choice of two courses, we didn't fancy any of the starters so went for main and sweet. The mains consisted of 3 items, Pollock, an extra £6!!, belly of pork, or a beetroot dish for vegetarians.|We chose the fish and pork, two pork arrived!! Sent it back, 10mins later the correct meal arrived,|Between all of this happening I had ordered a £23 bottle of wine which was ceremoniously 'dumped' on the table unopened.|The Pollock consisted of a small piece of fish on a bed of spinach, my pork was 3”x1”x1” approx of which over 75% of it was unrendered fat, inedible so I sent it back. |However the chips, an extra £5 and the sweet were lovely.|Breakfast very little choice, weak coffee, I ordered egg and bacon, a full English was dished up. |It's not rocket science to get things right.|To cap it all they wanted to charge me £6 service charge, For what service,|What could have been a great weekend turned into a damp squid.

The Meudon is one of the most welcoming and relaxed hotels to stay at - the staff are so friendly and helpful, the service is excellent.|The setting is fabulous and the walk down to Bream Cove through the hotel gardens is a delight and leads onto the south west coast path.|Our dinner, breakfast and cocktails were delicious. Recommend one of the rooms overlooking the garden for the balcony and the view - we stayed in 25.|We're locals and stayed for an autumn treat but also pop in for their Cornish cream tea every once in a while and the scones are fantastic.

I have just arrived back from a weekend staying at the Hotel Meudon with my husband and our dog. The arrival welcome was warm and lovely and the room was perfectly set up for a comfortable night with a bed, everything we needed and a bed, towel and bowl for the dog…. Just perfect for us. We arrived after dark but when we woke my goodness the view from our room was beautiful…. Straight out to the sub tropical garden. We woke early and walked down through the gardens to the private beach which was a picture from a film…. Beautiful.
