19 Best Hotels in Málaga, Costa del Sol’s Scenic Capital | Condé Nast Traveler

"Originally opened in 1926 and recently returned to hotel use, this five-star Grand Luxury palatial property reclaimed its seaside grandeur with impressive architecture, two outdoor pools, and a role as a flagship attraction drawing luxury travelers back to Málaga. I observed that its history—hosting royalty like King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenia—helps cement its status as a shining seaside jewel." - Marta Sader

How to Plan a Trip to Málaga, Spain

"Spend a few days in the lap of luxury with a stay at the Gran Hotel Miramar. The historic palace has been turned into a five-star hotel that looks out onto the Mediterranean. Each of its rooms is decked out with plush furnishings in a soothing natural palette, making the panoramic views the star of the show. The hotel's spa is equally alluring and uses local ingredients for a unique Andalusian touch." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Gran Hotel Miramar (Malaga, Costa del Sol) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"They really don’t make them like this anymore. Just about a century old, the Gran Hotel Miramar has lived many lives, and today it’s been restored to its mid-century grandeur. The exterior and the public spaces are as stately as ever, while the guest rooms have been restored in several distinct styles, from the overtly Moorish to the traditional Classic and the strikingly Modernist. An expansive Sisley spa is joined by an outdoor pool, and the beach is mere yards away; two bars and three restaurants include the spectacularly elegant Príncipe de Asturias and the poolside buffet-style Mediterráneo." - Tablet Hotels

We really liked this hotel: it has a beautiful, modern design and everything was very clean. From the very beginning, the welcome was kind and friendly, which made our stay start off on the right foot.||The room was well laid out, spacious, and very well maintained. As for the food, the hotel restaurants were excellent, especially the breakfast, which we truly enjoyed every morning.||The sea views and the location near the city’s boardwalk are definitely some of its highlights.||As an area of improvement, I would mention the pool, which was too crowded with children and also closed quite early, limiting its use.||Overall, a highly recommended hotel to enjoy Málaga, with just a few details that could be improved.

The building looks decent from the outside, but that’s where the charm ends. The showers were so ridiculously small it honestly would’ve been easier to shower in a broom closet. The rooms and elevators had an awful, lingering odor, and the bathrooms smelled strongly of sewage. The bathrooms were also wet upon arrival and showed visible signs of mold in some areas, which is completely unacceptable for a hotel of this supposed caliber. The rooms themselves were not properly cleaned, with dust, dirt, and general untidiness throughout. The bed sheets were very soft, which was nice, but unfortunately they were also dirty, with visible stains and traces of dirt. The floors throughout the hotel were wet and slippery in random spots, with no warning signs anywhere, creating an unsafe environment for guests. When it came to food service, some of the staff was kind, but unfortunately, that didn’t make up for the painfully slow and somewhat confused service. Much of the staff (reception, breakfast, etc...) were extremely rude, unprofessional, and lazy. Pushing the blame on to their guests for the mistakes that they made. I could’ve traveled from the hotel to Mallorca in the time it took to get a simple snack at the rooftop bar. To make matters worse, I requested a specific type of taxi one hour before my departure, and the staff failed to arrange it, claiming that no taxis of that kind were available. It is honestly preposterous that this hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. If this establishment meets their standards, then the organization has completely lost all credibility. Overall, this place looks good from the exterior but fails miserably where it actually counts. The price itself wasn’t terrible, but even at a lower cost, the experience was not worth it.

The hotel itself is wonderful — beautifully designed rooms, a great pool area, and overall a lovely atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service did not live up to the 5-star standard. We had been explicitly guaranteed a late checkout, planned our day accordingly (including lunch and entrance tickets), only to be called on checkout day and told we had missed the regular checkout time. At reception, we were told the hotel was fully booked and our late checkout was being withdrawn — without any apology or sense of accountability. Very disappointing for an otherwise excellent property.

A beautiful hotel with superb staff, gorgeous rooms and a beautiful pool that overlooks the Mediterranean. The 7th floor outdoor balcony was wonderful for having drinks and appetizers while looking at the stunning ocean view. Turn down service in the evening included chocolates on your pillow along with a cozy robe & slippers for each of you.

Very nice hotel, or palace. We feel like visiting a unique place with its own history. The staff is very very welcoming, a great plus. The swimming pool is good and the outside, with small gardens, are great. We regret that the spa is not included in the room, especially since it is exclusive to the hotel and not open to the public. The sport room is a bit small and enclosed, but functional. The breakfast is good and we appreciated the location near the big fountain. Access to beds on the beach in a secured area is included with the room, this is a useful addition. We enjoyed our stay.

We recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Miramar and were truly impressed by the beauty of the property and the excellent service provided by the staff. The hotel itself is elegant and well-maintained, and the team goes out of their way to make guests feel welcome and cared for.||One area that felt less than ideal was the pool. While it is a lovely space, it backs up directly to a busy road, which creates more noise than we had hoped for in such a luxurious setting. It also makes the pool feel somewhat separated from the beach experience. We completely understand that the hotel cannot change its location, but we do wish there were more efforts to help soften the traffic noise—perhaps through additional greenery, landscaping, or even some background music to create a more relaxing atmosphere.||Overall, we had a wonderful stay and very much appreciated the beauty and service of the Grand Hotel Miramar. With just a bit more attention to the poolside experience, this hotel would be close to perfect.

Had an amazing stay here. The staff were so attentive. The pool was amazing. We had the spa to ourselves as well. We booked the most basic room and were happily surprised when it came with a terrace. Great location as well being away from all the noise. It was a bonus to also have access to beach beds if you wanted to use them.

An excllent stay and best hotel in Malaga. The hotel staff is very professional and welcoming. The location can not be beat for a resort style hotel only 10 min walk from the old town. The beach and pool was excellent and so nice to come back to after a day of touring - the kids enjoyed it as well as the hotel is accomdating to children. We had 3 rooms at the hotel and each one was lovely. The Premier room is perfect for 2 people while the deluce rooms can easily accomadte 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children due to their seperate sitting area. Breakfast buffet was excellent and offered a great variety amongst several stations. Including a Cava and Orange Juice station and bloody mary station - a very nice touch in addition to all that was on offer food wise. The decor of the hotel is a mix of traditonal modern with a Alhambra Style. Very appropriate for the region and further added to our expereince. Roof top bar excellent drinks and live music overlooking the pool and ocean. Main Dining room was excellent and portions plentiful - if looking for a elegant evening considering dining on the hotel terrace to the Aquarius Resturant. Not over priced and service excellent. If lloking for an oasis and luxury stay the Hotel Miramar is your ticket!

Yelp
Beautiful, historic hotel located just a 20 minute walk from the center of Old Town and located just across from the beach. Opening in 1926 as a luxury hotel, this property has served several functions over the years but was restored to its original grandeur in 2017. From the moment you pull up to the grand front entrance, service and attentiveness is off the charts! I was warmly greeted, assisted with my bag, shown to my room and told about the range of amenities at the hotel.Every staff member here is nice and speaks several languages which is nice. There is a full spa and my massage there was terrific. The breakfast restaurant has everything you could ever want available and the room looks out to the water. There is a rooftop bar that is classy and pours a great drink along with views of the water and city. The casual lunch restaurant, Botanicals, is also quite good with impeccable service. My room was one of the sea view suites, a splurge but worth the extra cost to have a large outdoor patio, views of the pool and sea as well as plenty of room to relax. Malaga is just coming into it's own as a vacation destination in Spain thanks to the Picasso museum, large port and plenty of restaurants. If you want a luxury stay while here, the Gran Hotel Miramar is for you!

Yelp
Absolutely stunning waterfront property. This hotel is truly one of a kind. Quaint and historic foundation with modern rooms and decor. Pool area and spa provide impeccable service. Staff is gracious and on top of every request. If you are heading to Malaga, there is no place better to stay.

Yelp
Great stunning hotel! Probably our best stay ever, anywhere. Malaga is a underrated destination in Spain. Not as touristy as other coast destinations but in that, you'll find a gem of a city with small town vibes, peaceful and quiet but with plenty of stuff to do. Yes, I know this is not a review of the city but I want to put this great hotel in context: Great hotel, awesome room with the ocean serenating your sleep. The insuperable installations are only au pair with the staff. Friendly, attentive, genuine... the room is serviced twice a day. We opted for breakfast included which is a not cheap but is one less thing to worry about and the buffet is actually pretty good. We loved it and we want to go back.

Yelp
Amazing hotel, amazing service, awesome location. It's probably one of the best hotels in Malaga. They don't cut corners, friendly staff will make your stay comfortable. 10 min walking to old town, across the street from the beach.
