Arlo Aims to Bring Destination Dining to Hotel Circle | Eater San Diego

"Debuting today in Mission Valley at the revamped Town and Country resort, Arlo is led by chef Josh Mouzakes, whose credits include Joël Robuchon at the MGM Grand Las Vegas, The French Laundry, and the Hotel del Coronado, and aims to bring more culinary prestige to Hotel Circle. Counting itself lucky to have a large 100-seat outdoor patio, the restaurant opens with dinner service (with lunch to follow) and centers on a wood-fired grill and a social, eclectic style of dining; the menu features Baja-inspired ramen, chickpea fries with harissa aioli, flat steak carne asada, and grilled pork belly with cumin cilantro granita, heirloom carrot, and caramelized yellow peach. The wine list highlights wineries from the Valle de Guadalupe, and Mouzakes plans to host wine dinners with local vintners, run cooking demos on the patio, and utilize a Santa Maria grill." - Candice Woo

Lovely place on a deserted stretch of Pacific Ocean beach. Found it as an alternate because the hotel where I planned to stay was closed. Great service, good food in the restaurant. Rooms were clean and beds were good. It's a hidden jem. The parking lot is guarded 24hrs. I parked motos on a trailer. They survived the night!

Part of me doesn't want to write this review for fear that if too many people read it, it will get crowded, but then, it wouldn't be fair. This place is a diamond in the rough. It's not particularly well advertised, and definitely is not one of your All Inclusive resorts catered to American audiences, but if you want to drive south of the border, I would suggest getting past Ensenada (where you can stop for lunch or whatever), and get here for some real quiet time. Once upon a time, I guess this was a mission, and the rooms have a dormitory kind of feel, which sort of adds to the charm. The proximity to the beach is the real plus. You can walk out the front of the hotel, and find a good mile of a largely empty beach. The low tide is so low that you could literally walk a couple of hundred yards through wet sand before you get to knee deep water. Never seen a beach like that. The restaurant gives you a taste of authentic Mexican hospitality. The bar is a bit old with not-intentional retro lighting, and limited in its offerings, but still, a great place to sit down, relax, and enjoy a Michelada or two or more. They also have tennis courts, and if you didn't bring your own, they'll provide you with equipment. Plenty of parking. There's a nice children's play area right by the restaurant which is nice for families. There's not much to do in walking distance, and you absolutely need a car. Molino Viejo is about 17km from here, where you could rent a boat and explore Bahia San Quintin, not to mention some shops and bars there. But that's not what this place is for. If you want to unwind, and need to place that's far from the crowds, this is it (it does have wifi, just fyi). I guess you could call it romantic from that point of view, but I went there with friends (my wife wouldn't want to drive that far south of the border).

Cute resort style hotel on the beach. Wonderful staff and delicious restaurant. Very pet friendly and popular with the baja race community. There is a bar with a pool table and a kid friendly game room with a ping pong table and foosball.

We spent five nights here and enjoyed being on the coast. Beautiful scenery. A little out of the way, but they are very accommodating and friendly. The restaurant was wonderful. Being from the USA, it was a fun experience. You can get along without speaking Spanish, but it definitely helps.

Loved that dogs are welcome, no charge. Rooms are dated but the restaurant is great, attentive service. Access to the beach.

Stayed here during a two-day baja ride. Price was about $70 USD after taxes etc . Rooms are large and clean. There was no hot water for my shower after being on a dirt bike for 10 hours. Too many people showering at the same time. 😒
