Hotel Monasterio | Best places to stay in Cusco

"This sprawling 16th Century monastery, built on the foundations of an Inca palace, now serves as one of Cusco’s most resplendent hotels. Four cloisters (now housing guest rooms) surround picturesque arched courtyards, one of which contains a 400-year-old cedar. Rooms are furnished with heavy dark-wood, colonial-era beds and wardrobes, and the whole hotel is adorned with priceless art – gilt rococo finials rescued from Spanish-colonial churches and exquisite Spanish-indigenous paintings from the Cusco school.  The hotel’s restaurant – sitting under a colonnade of arches – is one of the city’s best; white-tie waiters pour Pisco sours in the low-lit bar hung with huge mirrors, and there are dreamy views out over the terracotta roofs and bell towers of Cucsco at every turn.  The hotel is located in Cusco’s historic centre, close to the cathedral, Qorikancha and the key sights. Although the entire complex lies just a few blocks away from Cusco’s busy main square, it feels remarkably meditative and restful. " - Alex Robinson

On our trip to Cusco, my wife and I stayed at the Hotel Monasterio San Pedro. The hotel is attached to the San Pedro Monastery as the name suggests. The common areas of the hotel, including the gardens, are decorated according to local custom. Additionally, the location of the hotel was great, just a short walk from the main square of Cusco. We really enjoyed the garden with alpaca statues. Our room was very spacious. The bed was also very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was also spacious. We found the room to be a bit too cold at times and the small heating appliance was insufficient to cope with that. The hotel offered a nice breakfast every morning, with a variety of juices, yogurt, fruit, and cold cuts.

Great staff, clean and spacious rooms and good facilities. We stayed at this hotel twice in our 7 days trip to Cusco. Starting from airport pickup to drop everything went very smooth. |We had to leave our luggage at the hotel when we left for our Machu Pichu hike and another activity. The staff was available 24*7 to help us with our luggage. |I particularly liked their garden and spaces to relax.

Very cold rooms. Heater very slow. Safe in room did not work. Extremely bad insulated very loud. Breakfast buffet good with large variety. Spa service with excellent offers. Laundry service worked well. Just opposite San Pedro Mercado in city center.

Structure and common spaces are beautiful, breakfast excellent, compared to them the rooms are quite simple, and small; location excellent in the old city, and at the side of a trin station.

Hotel is nice, rooms are clean, staff were nice. Located right next to the market. Although unfortunately to dampen the stay the spa was snot good. Had a terrible massage I do not think the lady had any training.

The hotel was beautiful and the staff is very friendly, its location is very good too as the market and one the largest churches are right next to it.
