Canada's Growing Supply of Stylish Hotels

"In Montreal’s picturesque historic district, an 18th-century structure conceals the thoroughly contemporary Hotel Monville, a hotel that’s drawn nearly as much attention for its forward-looking architecture as for its futuristic amenities — specifically, its robot room service." - Mark Fedeli

Good location, nice surrounding atmosphere, friendly staff !! lovely and great first impression of hotel. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean with excellent service in where we had dinner. Food was good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient. Room itself was well equipped and comfortable. The security agent was muscular , polite and handsome ! He didn't allow any homeless to approach us while we were smoking at the door plus he recommended us a very nice pub close by and it was really fun ! We feIt really safe there! I was very pleased with my stay. I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

If you’re paying anything more than 200$ including tax, you’re up for disappointment. I booked the standard room, which was really small. Besides a rooftop terrace, the hotel doesn’t have any noteworthy amenities. No water bottles served in the room as the hotel is striving to be green. The bedsheet was slightly torn, the room was somewhat dirty, and not completely insulted from sounds/sunlight. The washroom is outside the main bathroom, which is inconvenient. The shower head in the bathroom lacks pressure. One needs to check in themselves using tablets at the entrance — not something you would expect from a 4 star hotel. I was told I’ll be notified when my room is ready, but I never received the notification (yes, I did check both inbox and junk folders for the notification email). That said, the hotel is relatively new, the room has welcoming interiors and is cozy. Furthermore, the hotel is at a great location and provides easy access to metro and some of the best restaurants/attractions in downtown. The staff was also very responsive and open to constructive feedback when I expressed displeasure with my stay, which is a silver lining.

Good for a one or two night stay, wouldn’t stay longer! Room was a little small, but we were only there overnight and not in the room much. Bed was comfortable and we had what we needed in the room. Some of the design/surface choices make it easy to see dust, hair or smudges which makes the room look a little less clean/put together, but it definitely didn’t feel “dirty”. Mugs provided don’t fit in the spot on the coffee machine and the machine doesn’t plug in within the drawer it’s on, so it’s a bit of an ordeal to get your caffeine. Walls are definitely a bit thin, think it would be a little intrusive if you had loud people next to you. Only valet parking and it’s $40/night plus taxes, however it’s an underground private garage which is a plus in Montreal. Love the location, but there are other hotels close by that I’ll prefer over this one when I return!

I booked a weekend getaway at Hotel Monville with my wife to recharge, and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, Abir Sakr and her team made us feel incredibly welcome and well taken care of. The service was exceptional throughout our stay. The hotel’s location is perfect—central and convenient for exploring Montreal. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and every detail reflected the boutique charm we were hoping for. My wife and I left feeling relaxed and refreshed, and we’re already planning our next weekend escape to Hotel Monville. Highly recommend!

Rooms were not bad, a little small for the price but they were clean and beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We booked a high floor room and received a room on a lower level. They were able to rectify the issue and provided us with what we had booked. (Didn't end up mattering as we didn't have much of a view anyways). One of the major downfalls was the paid parking at the hotel, which was full when we arrived. They directed us to parking 5 minutes away , which would have been fine however, our car window was smashed at an attempt to break in. It was a horrible way to end our trip and ruined our experience. When you are paying so much for a hotel I would expect to be able to park safely AT THE HOTEL or to at least provide secure parking alternatives.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Monville! From the moment you step into the lobby, the stunning design and modern architecture truly stand out. The structure is both sleek and welcoming, with every detail thoughtfully planned. Inside the rooms, they’ve made the most out of every inch—smart layouts, stylish decor, and amazing use of natural light that makes the space feel bright and refreshing throughout the day. The lighting design is another highlight—beautifully done to create a warm and relaxing atmosphere both in the rooms and shared areas. The entire hotel is impeccably clean, and the staff couldn’t be more friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Whether you’re there for business or a getaway, Hotel Monville is the perfect mix of comfort, style, and hospitality. Highly recommended!

Beautiful hotel and comfortable room. We opted for the deluxe suite, which I highly recommend. It was extremely comfortable and quiet. Plenty of room for everything you would need. The hotel is in a great location and I would definitely stay here again.

I had an ok experience at this hotel. Start with the bad: The room was a bit dirty for my liking. The first thing I noticed when walking in the room was some splash and smudge marks on the tiles of the floor. You could also still see some smudges on the glass and handle of the shower from the last guest. I also only got two coffee pods for a two night stay with a booking for 2 people. Which is not enough. There should have been at least 4 pods. The room was really cold when I entered (19 degrees) and it took over one day to heat up to a normal human temperature (23 degrees). The room is tiny, so it makes no sense why it took so long to heat. Another thing, I would not stay here if there is more than one person with bathroom products, as the counter in the bathroom area with the light was so tiny. I could barely fit my things on the counter. Also, the towels are so tiny. I should say I am a petite woman and the towels barely covered me. The good: When I went down and asked for more coffee in my room, I received 2 more coffee pods in the room. They let me use my Debit, instead of a credit card, for the deposit of the room. It just costs a bit more to do that, but it really makes no difference, as you get the money back. The location is nice, as it's close to quite a lot of tourist activities. The rooms were also very quiet on the weeknights I stayed. Overall: I do not think the quality of the hotel was worth the price. I have stayed in a lot of less expensive and yet nicer hotels in even bigger tourist cities. They have a lot of adjustments to make to justify the price-point.

Yelp
We booked through Hotwire for 2 nights for a recent stay in Montreal. Overall, it was good, but there were some parts I didn't love that would make me think twice before booking. Good: 1. Hotel is very clean and looks good! 2. The 20th floor terrace has a great view of the city (beware, some tiles are sunken in and are a tripping hazard). 3. If you are one person, the room is decent. 4. The gym is good but there was no water in the water fountain. Bad: 1. The rooms are tiny. Our only option was a king bed so we had to share which was fine but most hotels gave the option. 2. Per the tiny space, the bathroom setup is quite odd. I've never stayed somewhere with a sink outside of the bathroom. The toilet and shower were in another section with a sliding door. 3. There's no storage. If you want to unpack your clothes, your only option is to hang them in the closet. 4. The TV remote was not very responsive (I kept it charged, so that wasn't the issue) and the TV itself glitched quite a bit. 5. We had trouble getting an iron but were told it was fine to take the one in the hallway. The person working reception was nice about it. Overall, most of the pros came with a con but the hotel is centrally located and we didn't have any actual problems. It's a boutique hotel and these are just my preferences. This could be a great hotel for a solo traveller who wants to be right in the city.

Yelp
Quiet. Clean. Kept up. Attentive staff. Comfortable bed and linens. Forgot there was a rooftop, next time. Definitely returning as it's centrally located in downtown, walking distance to public transportation, RESO and old town port.

Yelp
The common areas and rooms are clean and well-maintained. I stayed here for 3 nights in a regular King bed room. My room had a nice view of the city and location-wise, it's close to downtown, and walking distance from vieux port (old port). They have regular room service in the morning and shampoo, conditioner, body shampoo, body lotion and soap are provided in the room. The gym is open 24 hours. But, I couldn't find any yoga mats in my room, although it's mentioned on their website. The only downside is that rooms are rather small.

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay and I definitely felt that this hotel is trying to improve its online ratings with the level of staff service here. I'm not sure if the staff have become more experienced or if new staff were hired, or if only too many disgruntled reviewers wrote, but my experience was definitely a huge improvement over those other reviewers. I cannot comment on staff related to working with pets as I did not bring a pet with me. The room, unsurprisingly, had a faint pet smell, as it is a pet hotel after all. I think only time could clean such a room out entirely of such a smell. I don't know if quiet hydroxyl machines exist as I believe ozone would arguably be too toxic in an enclosed space. I have had personal experience with one and they can help, but the process to air out that type of machine properly and the general maintenance and what you can/can't do with it can be a lot. The coffee maker was tricky for me because you need to push a button in the back before pushing a cup size button. Some instructions for using the machine could be helpful. One of the light switches controls all the lights on/off. Nothing needs to be changed here but slightly different than what one may expect. The gym was great except that the container for wipes, since it's locked, the wipes might not follow the path of wipes coming out for a gym user. I would recommend just start setting out Clorox wipe bottles instead. Maybe, if you have empty Clorox wipe bottles, you can put some of the wipes in the current container in the Clorox wipe bottle if they are still good, so as not to unnecessarily waste what was already purchased. The breakfast options that are higher price are truly deluxe, and I got a deal where the breakfast was included. It was a lot of food, but one of the breakfasts I had was French style and the other was American with quality cooked meat. The very first person I met at the hotel check-in past midnight was wearing all tinted purplish blue suit, pants and glasses. He tried to help me out and ask another staffer for help when there was too much of a language barrier between us. I could have used Google Translate to help a lot, except that I was too tired. The waitress who served me breakfast both days was pleasant and wanted to make sure I had enough. A cleaning lady was nice enough to help me find the gym sign on the 4th floor, and the bartender Sat. 530 PM was very friendly talking about dried pineapple and making a quality, flavorful drink. As one person, the room size is fine. Two is typical for a hotel room size in a big city like Montreal, and the rooms are not big for more than 1, and if they allow more than 2, then it is definitely a tiny room. Since it is a pet hotel, the size of the room I feel does not necessarily consider the pet(s) as individual people or even as "half-people". People who have pets would likely let them invade their space anyway. The complimentary tea was quality and not generic freebies. The coffee I believe used quality instant, but the quality of the tea came out much better with the type of bags offered for complimentary with real ingredient herbs and not just flavored leaves. Change the breakfast menu quarterly or so if you don't already do so. Provide water bottles in the fridge rather than have an empty water cooler that doesn't need more water in the gym. As I could rate my experience a 4, the staff I encountered push my rating up!

Patrick T.

Yelp
Enjoyed the stay itself - staff were helpful, room was good, breakfast was nice. However, a major issue remains: the deposit taken on my credit card over a month ago has still not been released. After an initial email where they quoted 7-10 business days, two further emails from me have gone unanswered. My credit card company confirms the hotel hasn't released the hold. This lack of resolution and communication is very disappointing.

Yelp
STAY AWAY!! We came to Montréal for a long weekend and left Hôtel Monville with a terrible experience. While the hotel looks trendy and modern, it seemed to be run by a clueless crowd (literally - where were there so many employees standing around doing nothing) of college-aged people. When we first went to our room, we found a dirty towel and immediately called the front desk to see if we could be moved to another room since ours clearly wasn't cleaned properly. Instead of apologizing or offering to send someone to clean the room, they sent someone with a stack of new towels...which didn't help much after knowing the rest of the room wasn't properly cleaned in the first place. Fast forward a few hours and around 3 am, and we were abruptly woken up by a BLARING fire alarm. We had not received any warning beforehand so of course we were concerned at the possibility of a fire. We peeked our heads out of our room only to be met with other confused guests. We tried to call the front desk several times and they had their phone off the hook. There was absolutely no guidance on whether the fire alarm was real or not (no PA system announcement, nobody coming by our floors, complete silence from management), but based on a quick search of the Yelp reviews, I found that this hotel has a history of unannounced fire alarm "testing" (wink wink) so we took the chance that we weren't going to burn to our grisly deaths and tried to go back to sleep. Unfortunately, the alarm kept droning on for over 15 minutes. By the time it finally stopped, we still had not heard anything from management. When we checked out the next morning, nobody even apologized for the alarm or provided a half-assed excuse. Overall, would not recommend this hotel at all if you value sleep (which...is literally the only thing I need from a hotel). It might look sleek and shiny, but that's clearly just a façade slapped up to cover their uncleaned rooms with broken fire alarms an non-existence management.

Yelp
** Buyer beware! AVOID THIS HOTEL unless you have no other choice. ** This hotel probably needs one star.... I'll be generous with two stars because I can escape the heat of my room in the hotel lobby and it was slightly cheaper than the Ritz. Next time I'll pay more for the Ritz-Carlton. The GOOD: The hotel lobby is clean and modern. That is where the "good" of this hotel ends. The BAD: Let's start with the fact this isn't a hotel. It was an office building converted to a hotel, and it is painfully obvious. Rooms are awkwardly arranged, with two TV's less than 4 feet from each other. The view from the corner suite is OK, don't expect much, and you won't be disappointed. The hallways look dark, dreary, deserted, and possibly haunted. But that is what you should expect from an OFFICE BUILDING converted to a "hotel" (sic). Now on to the most important issue.... The air conditioning. I hope to believe this is just simple incompetence and stupidity on behalf of the hotel management, instead of some stupid green initiative. Nonetheless, the end result is the same. At night, you will be sweating. You will wake up numerous times very hot, and you will sleep like crap. Do not expect the hotel manager to care, as he doesn't. After being insulted, telling me I don't understand how to use a wall thermostat, they sent the "maintenance man" up to show me. Guess what? He didn't do a single thing. I was told that the daytime sun kept the room hot, and that I should just stay out of the room in the daytime, and keep the blinds fully drawn to darken the room. So much for the views we paid for!!!! Finally, after losing a night of sleep, and a day of NOT being able to use my room, I insisted on being given a new room with a working air conditioner. I was moved up 9 floors to the same room. Again, the room is hot (75.3°F). I give up. These people don't care. There is no accountability. The lobby is nice and cool (66°F), but my room is an oven, and no one cares. Maybe I can sleep in the lobby tonight? Buyer beware! AVOID THIS HOTEL unless you have no other choice. I will never stay in this hotel again. **edit: I will comment that one of the room TV's didn't have a power cord. The impact was minimal because there is another TV less than 4 feet away in the same room. Attention to detail.... Don't expect that here. UPDATE: it's 1am, the room is 72°F. I'm out. Tomorrow we are walking away from this crap-hole and getting a new hotel. Avoid this office building like the plague. They do not deserve the status of hotel. This is a glorified storage unit with a bed. UPDATE #2 : the Humaniti hotel across the street from your "hotel" has no problem cooling any of their rooms, or offering true 5-star service. Maybe you should send your maintenance staff over there to learn how to make air conditioners work properly. And in case you are unaware, we took the room change, and moved to the second room you offered (802 to 1702) with the same poor results, and an unacceptably hot room. Please explain to me how a 75.3°F is **EVER** acceptable for a supposed luxury hotel! Furthermore, why is it I had to LEAVE YOUR HOTEL in order to find relief? You could have just fixed the problem, but you don't care, so you didn't. You don't deserve to manage a hotel.

Yelp
I truly wanted to like Hotel Monville but I just came across too many issues. First, I'd like to start with the pros: -PERFECT location. Just a walk away from China Town and Old Montreal. Truly the best location -we were greeted by the concierge every time we left or came in -trustworthy valet -nice amenities (coffee maker, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap, tv, towels, black out curtains, rainfall shower head and nozzle, refrigerator). -the BEST water pressure and perfect temperature that was quick to heat up -nice terrace on floor 20 Cons: -I received three messages three days in a row stating that they don't clean rooms until checkout. This was not true. Saturday, we were asked if we wanted our room cleaned and we declined. Sunday, we needed a freshen up and asked the cleaners and they said ok. We literally waited HOURS for them to come by and even took our dog for a 2 hour walk while they cleaned, only to come back and the cleaners only moved to the next room during the entire two hours. My husband asked downstairs about cleaning and they said no one cleans on weekends. So we asked for some more amenities and we quickly received them. I left the trash outside the room so the cleaners could take them (they were across from us). They didn't take the trash and it was left in the hallway the entire day AND night. We woke up to see the trash still outside. -there was zero communication between staff. If I didn't ask about my Hotels silver membership reward of 15% off valet, I would have never been charged the $30/night valet...they didn't have our car registered with them. -we were also never charged for the pet fee. Again. Zero communication and no one paying attention to their guests. I'm not complaining but at the same time, isn't this something they could get in trouble for? Or worse, us? -blackout curtains were not truly blackout and you could still see the light around the corners of the blinds. -we didn't use the robot service because there weren't a ton of options for room service. You had maybe 5 choices in total, not a great place for choices. -the tv was set for blind people which was personally annoying because it was describing what was happening in the show and we didn't know how to turn this setting off. -small room (1416, paid extra for upper floor). Overall, it just wasn't the best hotel experience but the location was amazing. Was it worth the price? No. We had way more annoyances than relaxation. But we weren't really in the room much, anyways. It's just more frustrating to ask for more TP or shampoo/conditioner, coffee, etc when other hotels fill you up on that stuff every day. They were lacking in hospitality for sure.

Yelp
This was a cute, modern, loft-style boutique hotel in downtown Montreal perfect for my work conference at HEC.

Yelp
Stayed there this past week-end for 1 night (Fri Aug 11 - Sat Aug 12) for Otakuthon 2023. I'm glad I had a rebate for the festival because all the prices around the city were jacked up since there were multiple events happening at the same time. Pros: - Really great staff. Always had a smile - Vallet was really great. Had to get the car for me a few times and never complained. - Very clean - Location, location, location. A few steps away from Chinatown and Old Montreal. For us, we were just down the block from Palais des Congrès where the anime festival was so, it was awesome! Cons: - The water coming out of the shower head was more like a mist. You had to use the hand-shower instead... the power coming out of that one was great. Why couldn't that be in the shower head? - Didn't have access to my car Not really a "cons" because I completely understand why the rooms are so small. Space is limited in the city and I'm OK with that. I was the same in NY. But the room was small. The Queen bed just fit in there. I think the whole room fits in my living and dining rooms at home lol We didn't try the restaurant since we're not big breakfast people. We just grabbed something at the festival instead.

Yelp
I wish I liked Monville more. When I was looking through hotels for my first time in Montreal, Hotel Monville caught my eye with its sleek and pleasing aesthetics. Since this trip was for my birthday, my boyfriend and I decided to splurge a little and book the hotel for a week. Upon arrival, the hotel lobby was of no surprise - beautiful as in their Instagram and TripAdvisor pictures. Everything was very new and had balanced contrast. What you can't tell is the lobby and their bar are fairly small and in the same space. The check-in was seamless and the host made some effort to socialize even though we checked in pretty late at 1AM. We actually ordered McDonald's UberEats and the lobby was able to give us a phone call to pick up the food as the driver was not allowed upstairs. The room itself is tiny, but well designed and very very comfortable. I woke up every morning as comfortable as I could be. The room has two sliding walls - one as a bathroom door and one to separate the bed side of the room from the sink / bathroom / door side. Air conditioning was easily controlled and there were a few good channels on TV. I actually really wanted to try the robot delivery, but unfortunately, the food was fairly expensive and I couldn't exactly figure out to do that on the TV - too high tech for millennial me maybe? The biggest reason for the 3 stars on this hotel is interaction. Yes, I'm paying a little more for location - in the heart of Downtown only 10 minutes from Old Montreal, but with the price should also come with great customer service. Each day that I left the hotel or came back, I was not greeted and there were about 5 - 7 people working that were always hanging out with each other at the entrance / front desk. Lastly, it was noted in the hotel reservation that it was my birthday and nobody acknowledged it - even the restaurant that we had dinner at for my birthday wrote me a card. If you're looking to be a top hotel or even want to be considered, I'd think that even with the increasing tech advancements, customer experience is still very important. During my stay in early September, there was a ton of construction in the area and I always felt like it was dusty the second I exited. Even the beautiful rooftop was flooded with views of construction cranes. Maybe this wasn't the most ideal time to stay at Monville, and maybe it was too early for their employees to adjust to the new hotel operations. If there's a good deal, I could be back.

Yelp
I was in Montreal on Monday until today and spent Monday and last night at Hotel Monville, which apparently just opened in June. There is a room service robot but I never used it. My room was about $260/night. The bed was comfy. The shower and toilet were in one room and the sink across from them. My room was small but functional. The blinds were power controlled with a switch on the wall. The coffee maker was a Nespresso. WIFI was included (up to six devices a day) and was speedy. There was a mini fridge and an in-closet safe. There was a thermostat on the wall and though I had it turned down to 68F, I found the room a bit stuffy at night ... I couldn't kick off the blankets at night and just have a sheet on me because there was no sheet, just a duvet. There was no alarm clock. I asked the housekeeping supervisor about that and he said I could set the alarm using the TV (the TV could do a lot) but I wasn't able to figure it out. I ended up using my cell phone as my alarm, which was fine, but in the middle of the night it's nice to be able to glance over at a clock to know what time it is. Though the TV was cool and seemed to have a lot of functions, the remote control didn't work very well, which was annoying. I had requested a late check-out and was "approved" until 1pm. When I tried to get into my room about 12:30pm, though, my key pass had been disabled. Huh?! The hotel is within walking distance from St. Catherine Street where there is lots of shopping and restaurants and also Old Montreal.

Yelp
Robot Service!? This futuristic hotel has it all. Remote controlled curtains, room service via television, and smart delivery by an automatic robot!!! I regret I did not stay at this hotel longer to try all their services, including their famous robot. Noticed they had some good dairy-free options for their lattes which I will probably order next time. (They had Matcha on their drink menu!) Definitely enjoyed my stay and I can not wait to return.

Yelp
This was our first stay at Hotel Monville after finding them on Hotels.com. We originally chose the hotel based on their close walking distance to Chinatown and Old Montreal, and also because they allow dogs. The hotel itself is nice but BUSY. Plan on taking minimum 20 minutes to speak to the front desk no matter the time of day. We stayed 3 nights (Fri-Mon) and check-in was a breeze with their self service kiosks. The big sticking point for me was around 1pm Sunday when coming back to the room we spoke to the a cleaning staff member in the hall who confirmed they hadn't gotten to our room yet. We had our dog and wanted her out of the room during cleaning, so we took her for walk for a couple hours to allow them plenty of time. When we returned the "please make up room" sign was still on the door, so I asked the front desk since it was after 4pm and we wanted to get ready for dinner. I was informed that they don't have cleaning staff working that day (so who did I talk to that had the cart cleaning other rooms in our floor?). The staff was apologetic and sent a couple coffee pods and towels up to our room, but I wish we wouldn't have waited around for several hours to make sure our dog was out of the room for cleaning. It's not the end of the world but I wish the cleaning person wouldn't have mislead us and wasted such a huge chunk of our Easter Sunday. Not a huge deal if you know what to expect. The location was definitely the selling point and very convenient for walking around Montreal. Valet parking ran $35/day.

Yelp
This hotel is wholly full of itself! The rooms are INCREDIBLY TINY and dark as a freaking black hole! Our queen bed barely fits in the room and the whole room (commode, shower, vanity and bedroom) is smaller that our small bedroom at home. Totally outdated decor, unless you're stuck in the '80s. I chose this hotel based on the website and location to the Palais de Congress where I'm attending a conference. What a bait and switch! If you are even considering staying here; DON'T DO IT!!! I booked my room over 6 months ago, so it's not like I chose late and got what was available at the last minute! Overall, this hotel sucks donkey balls.

Yelp
Not impressed. The lobby is very modern, yes, but very clinical in feel. There is No Warmth. Checked out their terrasse on the 20th floor. It was small, congested & only on one corner of building.. so only one view. No pool No spa Even though this hotel is only one year old... if they do not improve their amenities ... and quickly ... they aren't going to survive. No matter what the price they charge for the rooms.

Yelp
Adding an extra star as the front office supervisor did contact and refund me for the first night's parking after I reached out about the issue with the valet.

Yelp
Nice little hotel right on the corner of Bleury beside le belon (yum) I went to visit one of my best friends who was in from out of town and this hotel wasn't her first pick but it was nice. Very small rooms just a bed and a shower. There's a little robot that comes to your room for room service which is pretty cool. No hot tubs or pools that was kinda boring.

Yelp
We booked the room a few days in advance and arrived after the check-in time, however, the room is not ready at all and we were seated in the lobby for over half-hour without any update from the staff. There is no update on the room while we were waiting and the room was suddenly ready when I reached out to them. This is the most horrible experience I have ever experienced. The room obliviously did not meet our expectations especially considering the waiting time. Hairs were found on the bed. There are two TVs in the room, none of them was working when we first entered the room, it was fixed after we reached out to the staff. The valet parking is absolutely terrible! The guy also put extra mileage on the car, he drove around the hotel with "sports" driving mode (it was "comfort" mode when we left the car) rather than directly to the parking lot. The guy also plays loud music in the car while he kicks the acceleration peddle. I was scared of the loud music when my phone connected to the car in the morning and it is definitely not the setting when we left the car last evening. So I reviewed the dashcam and realized the guy was driving around. Two unknown mobile devices were added to the system and I was not able to properly connect mine in the morning. I would never go back to this hotel, the service is pretty bad especially the valet parking.

Yelp
Great minimalistic hotel that has everything you need. The location is great right in the middle of everything! Great value for the location and quality!

Yelp
Attended this as Yoga Vieux Montreal (http://yogavieuxmontreal.com/index.php/en) held a morning class in their top floor conference room. The terrace is quite gorgeous, especially on a non-gloomy grey day (Not sure if they will have a bar up there, I was there at 9 in the morning!) The coffee in the lobby cafe was okay, i think too many third wave cafe's have elevated my coffee taste buds so that's that! But its a great lobby/cafe area.

Yelp
It's a very sophisticated hotel, well designed and decorated. However for the price paid I was expecting a little more assistance from the staff. Now you have to understand that it's a self service hotel. For check-in, you have to do it on your own from the computers displayed in the lobby. And for a first time it was hard to find our way, as there's no written directions nor guidance from the staff. It also seems like they were understaffed. The room was very small. The bathroom was right there at the entrance. The shower and toilet was in a closed door area and the sink across. Amenities: towels, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, hangers, a safe, expresso machine, mini fridge, cups and glass of different size, hairdryer etc... The bed was very comfortable but smelled funny, like the duvet wasn't well dried out. I particularly loved the power window. Very cool. I enjoyed it but I don't think it'll be my first choice if ever I need to book a hotel room. It'll be more of a last minute deal.

Yelp
Very nice hotel in a central location with many bistro and restaurants nearby. A short 15 minute walk to Old Montreal, Notre Dame Cathedral, 20 minute walk to the Museum of Arts. At this time there's an amazing Jazz Festival taking place in the evenings. The rooms are nice, well kept, and bed is super comfortable! The only thing to consider is that there's a CAN $40 daily parking charge if you need to park your car. There are nearby parking lots where you can park for half the price. Overall, I highly recommend.

Yelp
STAY ANYWHERE ELSE! I stayed at Hotel Monville this past weekend for a few days away with my husband. For the price tag, this hotel is definitely not worth it (and it wouldn't be at half the cost). Customer service is not in their vocabulary and certainly not in their management ethos. We were unimpressed upon arrival. Because the line was long at the front desk--where only one employee was stationed--I used a self-service kiosk to check-in and print my room keys. Several of the computers were not working and two other disgruntled-looking guests occupied the others, so I checked in using one on the end that appeared to be working. Even though I prepaid for parking, there was nothing in the check-in process to explain how to park my car. Parking is by valet only. When you enter the hotel, there was no information about how to enlist help for the parking service and no employees seemingly dedicated to that work. Despite avoiding the line to begin with, I waited nonetheless because that was the only employee who was available to guests. I told the clerk that I already checked in but needed to valet my car. She had me fill out a slip of paper and took my keys (without even asking where my car was currently) and provided no information about when our car would be moved or any assurance that the system was organized or professional. It seemed extremely haphazard. She kept ducking in a back room to talk with someone(s) back there. While I was waiting in line, I was able to observe three other interesting conversations/occurrences. First, the person immediately in front of me in line had a water pressure issue in his room. He had been told that it would be fixed by a certain time that had now come and gone. The front desk clerk--after, again, ducking in back--told him that it would be done in two hours and that, unfortunately, maintenance had been giving out incorrect information. He was also told that the problem was impacting multiple rooms and that they could not change his room because the "hotel was fully booked." This was an important point because directly in front of that guest was another guest that had checked in and was given a room on a "higher floor"--normally you pay more for these rooms as I had--and she was told that they were going to put her one of these rooms due to some inconvenience she had experienced checking in. Presumably, the man in front of me could have overheard that entire exchange and been even more insulted at this remark from the desk clerk. Meanwhile, I watched another couple search for a "concierge"--clearly a service they anticipated existing in a hotel marketed at this level, and then giving up because the line at the front of the hotel was so long. And I saw another duo search endlessly to no avail for someone to give their car keys to as they left for the evening (having already been guests coming from the elevators and not checking in). Our room was much smaller than the pictures on the website let on. I was impressed only by the view as the pillows were mushy, the bed was difficult to sleep in, and the toilet is right next to the bed with modern barn-style doors that ensure little privacy from your partner hearing everything while you use the bathroom morning or night. Most important for my husband and I, who prefer a very cool room for sleeping comfort, Hotel Monville locks the thermostat--something I have not even experienced at a Motel 6. When we asked about it the second night, they sent up maintenance as if this was a problem and were then informed that the temperature was as low as it would go in their system (at the time 70.5 degrees Fahrenheit). They did bring us up an oscillating fan that was incredibly dusty and looked like it came out of someone's personal office. Although the fan made sleeping the second night more comfortable, we were awoken by fire alarms at 6:15 a.m. (after a late night out in Montreal and with only a few hours sleep). We marched down 15 flights of stairs with the rest of the hotel guests and found the fire department outside. No one from the hotel came outside to explain what was going on or offer apologies or assurances. When the building was cleared, we waited outside for another 20 minutes to catch an elevator back up to our floor. Again, staff inside the hotel did not even acknowledge the situation. Upon check out later that morning, staff did not mention the early wake up and acted as if nothing happened. My husband asked the front desk staff why the alarm was triggered, and they said there was a malfunction in the system. Yet, when I inquired of management via email after my stay, they said it was the fault of a guest and was not their fault. They did not offer compensation. I would not want anyone else to set their expectations high only to be so sorely disappointed.

Yelp
I booked Hotel Monville during my first ever trip to Montreal. The hotel was new,so it wasnt many reviews to read up on. The location attracted me to Hotel Monville (near Downtown Montreal & Old Montreal). We were greeted after entering the lobby. I stayed in a deluxe suite, which was spacious and modern. This hotel had some good amenities. There is a robotic butler, which service rooms. Hotel Monville has a rooftop terrance but it was closed for renovations during my stay (it was a bummer). There is a gym on site. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Monville.

Yelp
Hôtel Monville is sleek, modern and affordable. The location is excellent and within walking distance of Montreal's train station. I recommend checking out the rooftop terrace and ordering something from the room service robot.

Yelp
They're really fresh, only a few weeks open so I don't want to destroy their rating! The staff here are very friendly and super helpful. They were really eager to show off the room service robot, even though it isn't running yet. They've only completed the first four hotel room floors thus far, a staff member said they're finishing the floors about one per week. The roof terrace is locked and there aren't any plants up there yet. Most of the floors 9-17 aren't available while they're still under construction. The checkin is cool... it's 100% self serve and a bit slow processing right now, took us about 10 minutes to check in. The staff member helping with check in was super nice. You are allowed to bring drinks back to your room so no worries about bevies because the bar is open late. We did have some technical issues with our TVs and had to place a few calls with the front desk, I would imagine most of those issues working themselves out over the next few months. I'm giving them five stars, only for now, I believe they'll work out the bugs. I hope that other reviewers read his before placing judgement so they can star appropriately based on if the fixes are completed sooner than later.

Yelp
I was in Montreal for the F1 GP in June which is the busiest and most difficult time for hotels in Montreal. This hotel was able to keep up with the service and expectations. After staying for one night at the hotel early in the week i decide to book all my coworkers and guests rooms for the busy weekend. Hotel Manager Nim was very helpful and assisted me with all the last minute requests They have a really cool robot that delivers pastries and beverages to your room

Yelp
Wait within 24 hours of check-in for best rates on Booking.com. Booking lowers rate if you wait if inventory is available. Monitor rates so you don't overpay. Rooftop terrace is also closed despite PR pieces saying it was open year round.

Yelp
Rooms are very comfortable with a decor that maintains functionality without being too cold. Staff are very attentive and helpful. Restaurant is super spendy and it's good, but the delivery is a bit inconsistent. I find the self-check-in thing kind of abhorrent, as you don't drop $200 a night for a hotel to interact with a robot. There is also a room service robot, which I found kind of annoying. It's like, ok, if the point of automation is to lower the labor costs, you have to transfer that onto the customer, not just continue to jack up the prices, right? It's a competitive market. Anyway, good spot and it's very close to all of the things, right off the Boulevard René Lévesque and super close to downtown Montréal proper.

Yelp
Spent Labor Day weekend in Montreal and stayed at this hotel. Check in was easy, rooms are small but comfortable. It's in a great location. Was able to walk to old Montreal in no time. The terrace is not very impressive, it felt like an after thought. The staff was nice, greeted me when I walked in every day. The hotel lacked amenities.. not sure I would stay here again, probably better hotels in the area but it served its purpose for a short weekend stay.

Yelp
I almost gave this hotel a 1 star, but it really doesn't deserve it. It's a very nice hotel, it just has a ton of problems. It's a new hotel and obviously has a lot of kinks it needs to work out. The staff and other things just seem to be very disorganized. Pros: * Nice showers and room dividers * Staff is friendly and helpful, but slow and not always competent * Bar area staff is great * Good sound proofing (besides construction) Problems I had with the hotel: * AC: We had 2 people staying at the hotel. For one of us, their room's AC didn't really work. Even when the thermostat was set to 18C/65F, the room stayed at 25C/77F. The staff came in and said nothing was wrong. They just couldn't seem to comprehend the fact that the room staying so hot is "a problem" since the AC seemed to be working. I think it's a problem with the room design, as the AC is over by the window on the floor, where it couldn't do its work. And even worse, when the blackout curtain was down, the cold air didn't get into the room at all. Super stupid layout. So they switched him to the same type room on another floor, and it still had the same problem. So they moved him to a suite and it was fine. He stayed in the suite for 3 days and they wanted to move him back to his old room for the last day he was there, so they did so, AND IT STILL STAYED 25C/77F in the room! They added a mobile fan to push the cold air into the rest of the room, and that helped a bit. Stay clear of room #1 on any floor! * There was loud construction on 3 sides of the building. I know this isn't their fault, but I did not appreciate getting woken up at 6am every morning. They told me moving me to a room on the opposite side of the hall wouldn't help, but they were completely wrong. The construction didn't really reach that (4th) side of the hotel. They also moved me up from the 6th floor to the 16th floor and that helped a ton too. * In my second room, the blackout curtain didn't come all the way down so the room was still getting a lot of light. They also designed them so the sides are completely open so an annoyingly large amount of light comes out of them too. * 1 if the rooms shower pressure was very low. * My room had no drawers. All it had for clothes, not including on hangers, was 1 small cubby 1ftx1ftx3ft (deep). There was also "storage" on top of the shelving, if you didn't mind standing on the sink cabinet to get to it. This was absolutely ridiculous. * The wireless internet, while free, was spotty and slow. * The wireless internet also cut out once daily, requiring a re-login. This always seemed to happen in the middle of important work or while watching tv/movies. * For a valet to retrieve your vehicle, it generally took about 15 minutes. This was apparently due to the valet parking for the hotel being far away. You'd think they'd keep the keys at the valet area to remove half the delivery time, but nope. * Their TVs had a bunch of problems * The digital streams would freeze once every 5 or so minutes for a number of seconds, followed by improperly digitized data. * The remote was very touchy. It had to be in just specific positions from the TV to actually work. * The volume takes ~a second per level to turn up. So to get from 20 to its max (60) took 40+ seconds. And the volume was very loud for commercials but too soft for the actual content. * While there was a second HDMI port on the back of the tv, there was no way to get to that input on either the TV or remote. So when we wanted to hook our PCs up to the tv, we had to first take out their crappy digital control box. Doing so was not very easy. * Navigating some of the menus was very unintuitive. For example, when logging into Netflix, you had to use the Wii-type-mouse to accept your username/password, and then turn the mouse off to use further Netflix menus. The mouse functionality was strictly based upon an accelerometer, starting centered on the screen no matter where the controller was, and it didn't work very well either. * The remote-connect features for android didn't work. We tried both screen mirroring and casting, and neither worked (tried in multiple rooms). * The rooms only had like 6 hangers. * The do-not-disturb signs were flimsy and by far the worst I've ever seen. They fell off the door every time it was opened. * Their nifty delivery robot overrides any buttons currently pushed on the elevator. So if you are going up and it gets on, the elevator starts going down. * My room stay was extended by 3 days. I got locked out of my room on the day I was supposed to check out. The staff were able to fix it up at the front desk, but it took 6 or so minutes. They were having some sort of problem. * Very minor complaint, but an example of the disorganization. I asked for 3 towels to be sent up at one point and only received 2. * There was more, but I think this is more than enough problems they need to fix.

Yelp
We've been to many 3-, 4-, and 5- star hotels and this one is in the 3-4 star range. Much of the experience is self-serve from check-in to check-out but the staff is polite and personable. The rooms feel very European in size and are designed well. We would stay here again.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed for 2 nights (Friday and Saturday) last weekend and we had a great stay. Great proximity to Old Montréal, only about a 10 minute walk. The room was very clean, the rooftop terrace was great for having a relaxing, late afternoon drink, and all of the employees were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend Hotel Monville for anyone looking to stay within walking distance of all that Montreal has to offer!

Yelp
This was our first time here and overall we were impressed. The rooms are modern with new fixtures and brand-name accessories and toiletries. They are also well maintained and VERY clean. We did not have to worry about the cleanliness of the bed or furniture. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only drawbacks were: the room service robot did not work for us. We placed an order 2 days in a row and the restaurant did not receive it either day. We had to call down to re-place the order. Also the temperature control did not work for us. We tried to turn the temperature down to 20 degrees but it stayed between 22-24 degrees the entire time. There was also a strong chemical like smell to the room every time we came in. We got used to it after being in the room for awhile but could not identify it or where it was coming from. These small drawbacks were all that prevent us from leaving a 5 star rating. Aside from these we very much enjoyed our stay and would return.
