Hotel Movich Cartagena De Indias

My stay at Movich Hotel Cartagena de Indias was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, everything felt five-star and beyond. The room was stunning — beautifully designed, elegant, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail was thoughtful, and the atmosphere felt both luxurious and warm. Waking up there felt like a dream. The breakfast deserves its own spotlight. Truly one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had. The croissants were perfection — flaky, buttery, and honestly the best I’ve tasted. Everything had a refined French touch, yet there were plenty of fresh and healthy options as well. I also loved that you can choose to have breakfast served in your room, which makes the experience even more special and relaxing. And the view… simply breathtaking. Without a doubt, the best view in Cartagena. The rooftop is on another level — absolutely the best rooftop in the city. Watching the sunset from there is an experience you will never forget. A special thank you to the manager, Diego, who is incredibly professional and attentive. His level of service truly elevates the entire experience. You can feel that excellence is a priority, and it shows in every detail. If you’re visiting Cartagena and want the perfect combination of luxury, comfort, amazing food, and unforgettable views, this is the place to stay. I can’t wait to return. ✨

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights - the hotel was beautiful and the staff was incredible. Free breakfast is included and we were so pleasantly surprised at the extensive menu options. The rooftop is amazing - unfortunately it rained most of our trip but we were able to spend a little time up there soaking in the views. Also the location is perfect for exploring the city - very walkable. Highly recommend to anyone staying in Cartagena!

First, the location is spectacular. And the rooftop pool and restaurant area are fabulous. But for us, everything else feel short, especially our five star expectations as this hotel as rated as part of SLH.||The rooms are tired. The woven floor rug was filthy and looked disheveled and worn. The furniture is old and low quality. It’s impossible to open and close the drawers, they do not glide. The bathroom is mediocre. No bathtub. Double showerhead and in the early evenings while everyone was showering, hot water ran low. The bathroom design is basic and definitely nothing reminiscent of a top hotel brand. A basic counter with no storage shelves anywhere and an outdated hairdryer. Shower water sometimes leaked onto the floor.||The included breakfast was terrible. The quality of the food was not good. The service was painfully slow and often brought partial or wrong orders. Usually the restaurant was full because there are only seven or eight tables, and with all of the rooms, they cannot accommodate everyone that shows up at popular dining times. There’s no need to even pay for breakfast here. Walk out the front door and there are many other options of better quality. Service at the rooftop bar was much better than the downstairs breakfast area. ||When we contacted the front desk for various requests, sometimes they were handled efficiently, and sometimes they didn’t understand what we were saying or they just ignored our request for things like towels or ice. ||The person checking you in is also the concierge and it appears they probably get some form of a kickback for activities bookings. They book on your behalf. Did not feel like I could trust the recommendations. There was usually only one person working the desk. So if they were already helping someone, it was frustrating to stand around and wait.||Staying over New Year’s we were required to book 5 nights here which was far too long. Even if the hotel was superb there’s just not enough to do in the town for five nights. They probably required this because they know people would not want to stay this long otherwise. Several nights here is plenty.

My friend and I had a great experience. The room felt safe and was well appointed. My only complaint is that the floor occasionally became wet (from condensation?) and the bathroom door had a crack in it. Service at breakfast was fantastic. The meals were delicious (don’t sleep on the huevos criollos). The staff were attentive and personalized our meals. They remembered and catered to our preferences every morning. Jairo is a great waiter. Javier (I think that was his name) was friendly and greeted us kindly whenever we entered. The welcome drink was tasty! The location was walkable to everything but on a quieter street. Very nice (but small) pool with excellent views. I would stay here again.

I spent four nights at the Movich Hotel Cartagena de Indias, and it was wonderful in every respect. The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of the historic centre and within easy walking distance of the best sites, restaurants, and the general energy of the city.||The hotel itself is elegant, comfortable, and calm, a perfect place to retreat after busy days out. What truly stood out, though, was the staff. Every single interaction was marked by genuine kindness, professionalism, and a real willingness to help. Nothing felt forced or routine.||I would return without hesitation and highly recommend it to anyone wanting both comfort and an authentic Cartagena experience.

We enjoyed our stay but service was not 5 star. When we arrived we were told our room would be ready at 3pm. When we returned at 3 the room still was not ready. We were told it would take 20 more minutes. Once in the room we noticed the a/c was leaking. Our safe battery died on the second day. The clock in the room was not set….details that a five star hotel should pay attention to. When we checked out we were not given a receipt. We were told to get it “from expedia,” nut our trip was not booked on expedia. The pool was lovely, as was the lobby and restaurant. We got a good rate, but had we paid more, i would have been disappointed. They need to work out the bumps if they are to call themselves a 5 star hotel.

I had a great overall experience. The hotel staff was super helpful with everything. Javier and Deivis were great from the time I came into the hotel. I would definitely stay here again

Most likely the coolest hotel in Centro Historico in Cartagena de Indias. Located literally in the heart of old town the hotel features modern & quite rooms with the best rooftop bar in the city. Pool for guests only is also located on the roof and offers incredible views. Great bar, great breakfast, great snakes however sometimes serivce is extremely slow. In general staff is outstanding and super friendly.
