"Recommended by a reader as a place to stay in Cartagena's Old Town, this small, 32-room property is well situated for exploring the city's UNESCO-protected historic center and its ancient churches." - Samantha Falewée Samantha Falewée Samantha Falewée is an associate editor for Travel + Leisure, interested in adventure and culinary travel, Indigenous culture, and wildlife conservation. Movich Hotel Cartagena de Indias (Cartagena, Colombia) 1 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"At a glance Cartagena could easily be mistaken for another of the many picturesque Colonial cities in Latin America, and indeed its narrow cobblestone streets, its sun-dappled public squares, its church steeples towering over the old walled city are all a deep part of its appeal. But what really sets Cartagena apart is how, despite all postcard-perfect backdrops, it never quite feels like a parody of its former self. There’s an easy self-confidence about the place, a confidence that’s perfectly embodied by the Movich Hotel. Step inside, behind its traditional whitewashed façade, and the hotel is as contemporary as can be, all sleek modern lines and sunny, open spaces." - Tablet Hotels

My friend and I had a great experience. The room felt safe and was well appointed. My only complaint is that the floor occasionally became wet (from condensation?) and the bathroom door had a crack in it. Service at breakfast was fantastic. The meals were delicious (don’t sleep on the huevos criollos). The staff were attentive and personalized our meals. They remembered and catered to our preferences every morning. Jairo is a great waiter. Javier (I think that was his name) was friendly and greeted us kindly whenever we entered. The welcome drink was tasty! The location was walkable to everything but on a quieter street. Very nice (but small) pool with excellent views. I would stay here again.

Our stay couldn’t have been better. Breakfast every morning was delicious. The staff was so friendly and helpful - Javier, Sandra, Jairo. Thank you for a magical few days in Cartagena!

Paid for the best room — at least that’s how it was marketed. The rug and the furniture were worn and stained. It was disgusting. The rooftop pool was tiny. There was only seating for a few people at the pool. The fitness center was a joke. Old equipment that mostly didn’t work. Having traveled over a dozen times to Cartagena the past 25 years and almost always liking the accommodation, I was shocked that this hotel is marketed as a luxury hotel. It is a dump.

We had a fine stay but I wouldn't classify the hotel as 5-star. More like 4. In our first room one window wouldn't stay closed and there was water on the floor from condensation. The second room also had ill-fitting windows. Thankfully, street noise was minimal. But the constant inflow of humidity means the AC runs non-stop and water drips from the AC vent, plus the bathroom has no vent so air circulation is an issue. The room furnishings are not impressive. The gym has a few antiquated cardio machines (two treadmills and one stepper) and a small number of dumbbells. The rooftop pool and bar are beautiful but the music level mimics a rock concert so you don't actually want to stay long. At the rooftop bar at dinner there were many staff but no one moving themselves to actually provide service. At breakfast it was also difficult to get the servers' attention though that improved after the first day. My pancakes were completely burnt on one side at our first breakfast. The huevos criollos were very good, however. The hotel rooms were quiet. The bathrooms are large but the bedroom felt cramped.

Can’t beat this hotel for Centro Cartagena. The view from the rooftop infinity pool is the stock photo everyone uses for websites. Spectacular view!!! Rooms were clean and spacious. It was noisy because you’re so close to the action but that’s what you want! Great stay!

Most likely the coolest hotel in Centro Historico in Cartagena de Indias. Located literally in the heart of old town the hotel features modern & quite rooms with the best rooftop bar in the city. Pool for guests only is also located on the roof and offers incredible views. Great bar, great breakfast, great snakes however sometimes serivce is extremely slow. In general staff is outstanding and super friendly.

We had an incredible stay at movich Cartagena! The rooftop bar and pool view is unmatched. Best views of Cartagena. The service was incredible especially Javier at check in. The 15 minute free massage was a nice touch! Highly recommend for a good location in Cartagena.

Our family of four spent a week in Cartagena and the Movich hotel was our luxurious respite from the heat and fracas! The rooftop pool with a breathtaking view of the gorgeous historic walled city was amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The beds are comfortable, shower was spacious and always the right temperature. The gym was useful for an early morning workout and the free breakfast just put that pampered feeling over the top. (Sandra was the best!) highly recommend!
