A Room with the Weight of Rome Hotel Nazionale offered us something increasingly rare: formality with warmth, and grandeur with care. The staff is gracious, polished, and consistently present without ever being intrusive. It felt like being welcomed into a long-standing Roman tradition. Our Executive Room was outstanding. The towering ceilings alone made the space feel ceremonial, but it was the view that truly anchored the experience: looking out over Piazza Montecitorio, with Italy’s Parliament unfolding below and the Obelisk of Montecitorio—dating to the 6th century BC—standing in silent continuity. It is not often that a hotel room places you so directly inside history. The bathroom deserves its own mention — it featured the most spectacular Jacuzzi, which is rare in Rome. After a long day of sightseeing, it was deeply restorative. Breakfast was fantastic: generous and varied, something for everyone. The location is simply unbeatable — steps from the Pantheon, moments from the Trevi Fountain, and perfectly positioned for walking Rome as it reveals itself. Hotel Nazionale does not try to impress through excess. It impresses through gravitas, precision, and a profound sense of place. We would return without hesitation.

We have stayed 5 times here. Our 6th will be December. Fabulous location. Impeccable, beautiful mini suits. Perfect location to walk to alot of main attractions. Breakfast there is delicious. Quiet quaint bar for an evening sip or two. Beautiful restaurants around every corner, not to mention the shopping and gellateria. We wont stay anywhere else but the Nazionale!

Our friend, an airline pilot, recommended the hotel. The building is in great shape, impeccable service, great location. Clean, great atmosphere. Nice bar. We had a nice suite, but ask for a front-facing room. Located right on a quiet piazza next to the Italian Parliament. We spent time before dinners sharing wine out front on the patio. Walkable to everything so don't bother with a car, only taxis and service vehicles are allowed. Great restaurants all around and mini but well-stocked grocery stores within a short walk. Shout out to Patrick at the front desk, he actually took us to the train station after his shift. The whole staff is excellent, the bar is great. We'll be back!

We stayed at Hotel Nazionale Rome as a family of four and had a great experience. the hotel's location is absolutely perfect - right in the heart of the city and within walking distance of major attractions like the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and Piazza Navona.|Our room was comfortable, clean, and spacious enough for our family, which made our stay very pleasant. the hotel has a warm, classic charm, and everything was well maintained. After long days of sightseeing, it was great to return to a cozy and peaceful room.|The staff were courteous and helpful, always ready to assist with directions or recommendations, which made travelling with family much easier. Breakfast was also good, with a nice variety.|Overall, Hotel Nazionale was a good choice for our family trip to Rome - great location, comfortable stay, and wonderful service.

wow, what a fantastic find. the hotel is perfectly located right net to the trevi fountain, making all the other tourist areas a short walk.| we was kindly upgraded to a junior suite for my 40th birthday which was lovely. |staff where friendly and very accommodating with all our need. |breakfast plentiful with a real mixture. bacon,eggs, cereal, pastries, cold meats and cheese etc. |we stayed half board so went to their sister restaurant next door for our evening meal. the food was 10/10 , good service, hot tasty food. would highly recommend. |we would love to return to this hotel in the future and have already recommended to friends.

This hotel has a perfect location; within walking distance to many interesting sites to see. The rooms are clean and comfortable. A breakfast buffet is offered every morning offering everything from eggs to pancakes, plus meats, salad, cheeses and a variety of pastries.

Location was perfect, the staff was very accommodating and our apartment was beautiful. We couldn’t have been happier with our choice and I’m so glad we found this hotel. At your arrival, they furnished us with a map and marked out all of the pertinent places to visit and we religiously followed it during our stay. Centralized location, we literally walked everywhere. Spanish Steps, 12 minutes , Pantheon, 4 minutes, Trevi Fountain 10 minutes and great restaurants all around. The staff assisted us with a last minute golf cart tour and it was well worth it. Note you are right next to Parliament so although you are safe, if a dignitary is arriving or a group is protesting, it can make it hard to get a taxi at the front of the hotel. The breakfast offerings were perfect and the staff in the restaurant were all very friendly and polite. Our room had a great air conditioner and that was so important seeing as it was 97 degrees when we were there. We are returning next year and will definitely attempt to stay with them again if available. Thank you for taking such great care of us!

My husband and I stayed here as part of a two week anniversary trip to Italy. We booked a superior room and were very happy with it. The room had a nice view of the piazza and was a nice size, though the shower was a bit small. The location is excellent- very close to many of the major sites, and walking distance to lots of great restaurants and cafes. Though we were pleased with the hotel, what made our stay truly 5 star was the care and service we received from Patrick at the front desk. He was, by far, the most helpful concierge we’ve ever encountered. He went out of his way to provide anything we needed. On our first night there, we were running late to pick up tickets to the papal audience the next day, and he ran (literally) to go get them for us. When we had early mornings and couldn’t be there for breakfast, he ensured that we had breakfast boxes to take with us. Most notably, Patrick was a tremendous help to us when I had the misfortune of becoming extremely ill on what was supposed to be our last night there (we ended up having to extend our stay by 3 nights). He explained options for care to my husband and arranged for a wonderful doctor to come see me. Extending our stay when I was unable to travel was seamless and easy. When I felt a little better, but still could not eat regular food, Patrick was kind enough to call a local restaurant and request for them to make me broth with some pastina in it, which was exactly what I needed. He went above and beyond in so many ways, and we are so appreciative of his help! We hope to return to Hotel Nazionale again in the future and will recommend it to anyone we know who is planning to go to Rome.

A decent hotel located right by the Italian parliament and close to many of the main attractions in Rome, as well as shopping areas. A well know gelato shop, Giolitti, is 100m right around the corner! Breakfast is included. We had an executive terrace room which was spacious and they turned the couch into a third bed to accommodate our third guest. Keep in mind that many hotels in Rome are small with small rooms (this one is actually larger) and most that offer a three guest accommodations usually just put sheets on a sofa bed or couch for that third person - there isn't a true bed. I did love our little terrace though! Oddly enough, you cannot dial out even to local numbers using your room phone, only to the reception desk and within the hotel. I went down to reception to ask them to call the Rome airport for an issue and they shuffled the task around, left me waiting for quite some time, and made it seem like such a chore. I would have just made the call myself if they had a working phone.

If walls could talk.... this hotel is on the rear square of the Italian Parliament Building. While we were there a contentious vote was happening, and we had protesters for several days, and all day News Crews. Surprisingly this was not disruptive at all. The hotel itself is old, and some of the decor was a bit tired. Staff was professional, but not particularly friendly. Our room was very large, with big windows on the Square. We could check out activity in the square.. hehe. It had very high ceilings, with a unique coffered effect painted on it. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was in a large space with plenty of seating. Typical of what we found in Italian hotels... a wide variety of pastries, cereal, breads, cheeses, meats and fruits. Machine for expresso was tricky... but one staff member was very helpful and sweet, and helped us. We were very happy with this hotel.

Best hotel service and comfort right by the Italian Parliament building. Safe and secure with a short walk to the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and numerous trattoria and gelato places. Shopping is incredible. Definitely worth the stay.

if I could give any advice to anybody considering going here, DO NOT for your health. DO NOT. THEY DO NOT CLEAN THE SHEETS!!! POOP ON THE SHEETS!!!!!! We got in very late and found POOP stains on our sheets from the previous guest. Not only did they not change the sheets in between guests, the next day when we expected them to change the sheets, because we exposed the stains, they made the bed up as normal, but didn't change the sheets!!! Even though we left the stains exposed. When we told staff about it, they were extremely nonchalant and seem to not give a care about the fact that there were bodily fluids on our sheets. Nobody has talked to us. Nobody has apologized. It's disgusting and ridiculous. DO NOT go here. Nothing here is clean. I don't care about what any other reviews say, it's dated. It's gross. It's disgusting. They do not take hygiene seriously. This place is absolutely disgusting

Great location! Walked everywhere! Staff was absolutely lovely and rooms were nice. Can't say enough great things about the service and staff. They helped us with everything from reservations to tours and recommendations and were extremely patient with our incredibly terrible Italian.

Weird layout, and very small elevators. Honestly, I'm not a fan of this hotel. There is no gym, swimming pool just like most European hotels. The only positive I can think of is it's well located hotel in the heart of many attractions to visit, in walking distance. The Pantheon, the Trevi fountain, Piazza Navona, Colosseum, Spanish Steps and Campo de Fiori. Also for shopaholics, the main shopping streets are close by. There is an outlet store there that I always go to.

Fantastic view of the obelisk. I felt safe with police around the building at all times guarding parliament right next door. Great walking distance to the Pantheon and tons of great restaurants within a 2 minute walk. Only complaint was the bath tub leaked other than that I loved it.

Hotel is situated in a great location! Walking distance to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. Close to shopping and cafes/restaurants. This alone should have it at 5 stars! Hotel safe was friendly and professional. The breakfast was decent. The only thing was that when I checked in (on a Wednesday), I was probably given the smallest room in the hotel?! They have photos of their standard and spacious rooms. But for some reason, I was given the smallest room I've ever had in Europe...and that's saying something given rooms in Europe are typically small. My advice: ask details of your room before checking in.

If you want to be centrally located while you visit Rome, it doesn't get much better than the Nazionale. On our first night we went for a wander around the neighborhood, and stumbled upon the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain within minutes of leaving. More importantly, some of the best gelato is right around the corner at Giolitti! As other reviews have mentioned, it feels very safe staying there as the parliament is located on the same palazzo, which means lots of police in the area. Our room, while not fancy, was clean, spacious and very well kept. The bed was comfortable and the mini bar was well stocked and affordable. My only complaint was the hair dryer kept dying while I was trying to dry my hair, so maybe time to replace the one in room 508. The breakfast they offer is just lovely. Make sure you ask one of the servers to make you a cappuccino, instead of using the Nespresso style machine - it's well worth it. Also, make sure you have some of the plum cake. I'm still missing that a week after leaving! The lobby and common areas are not very contemporary, but everything has been lovingly cared for and shows no age. I would recommend the Nazionale to anyone visiting Rome!

My friend and I are staying here for the entire week. We have been pleased with the service and amenities of the hotel. The free breakfast is just right, holding us over until late lunch or early dinner. There are assorted meats, cheeses, pastries, eggs (to boil), fruits and delicious coffees and juices. The room was just right for us, two single beds, on the small side but the room is small. The view from our window is dynamite, we can't stop looking at the view! The bathroom is very modern and nicely appointed with a tub, shower, sink and bidet. Also, towels, wash clothes, bathrobes, and slippers. Everything is very fresh and clean. I would recommend staying here, it's an Italian experience, different from what we have in the U.S., but that's part of the fun of travel!

I had a great time at this hotel. It was centrally located (we were able to walk to pantheon, trevi fountain, Vatican, colosseum, etc) and very nice. Our room was small but very nice and clean. The staff was always helpful and available whether it be for an extra travel adapter, the best way to get to XYZ dinner location, or booking and printing train tickets to Florence. There is a free breakfast buffet that we tried a few times (it's almost painful not to get "authentic" Italian cappuccino and pastry in the morning) and it did not disappoint... Large selection with fresh items and good company. The hotel provides free wifi and a turndown service each night. Giolitti (the best gelato in Rome) is less than a block away. I can go on and on but you get the picture... This is a great little hotel in the heart of Rome that I would definitely stay at again on a return visit. Ciao!

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. It is in a fabulous location in the Pantheon neighborhood just around the corner from the famous Giolitti gelato place (we walked there every night for gelato), walkable to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish steps which is a bit further. It is also a reasonable taxi to Termini station. Their free buffet breakfast is awesome -fresh baked bread, croissants (some of the best I've had), fruit, yogurt, meats, cheeses, other fresh baked tarts and loafs, boiled eggs, juices, coffees, etc. staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are on the smaller side, but we were in the room very little so it didn't matter much. It's right in the courtyard of the Italian parliament so 24/7 security is high.

Great service! They made sure we were able to get anything we needed, and if they didn't have something they brought it to us the moment they had it. They also gave us a free upgrade to a better room with a view at check in so we appreciated that. The location is very good, close walk to almost all the landmarks and a lot of shops nearby. The room itself was really nice--comfy bed and pretty decor. Would stay here again when I'm back in Rome.

Difficult not to give Hotel Nazionale 5 stars because it is so good. I have to put 4 stars because it isn't a top-of-the-line luxury hotel. But ... My gosh ... this place rocks on all counts. You can't beat the value or location ... and the staff went above and beyond our expectations, including taking initiatives that helped to enhance our stay and, in several cases, saved us a great deal of time and hassle. Located very central to the Colosseum and Old Rome in one direction, the Vatican in another, and the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps in another. Near the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Right in the middle of the action. Rooms were quiet. All good!!! And the staff ... molto bene!!!

We stayed here 5 nights. Huge beautiful room with a view of the square and Parliament building. We walked to the coliseum, Vatican, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps, everything we wanted to see on this visit to Rome. Great restaurants and gelato nearby. We visited the Pantheon numerous times because it was so close and my wife loved it. Staff was very helpful, we arranged Airport transportation through the front desk with no problems. Our drivers were also great sources of information. The breakfast buffet was not as big as the one we experienced in Ortigia but still plenty to choose from. You won't leave hungry. We didn't use the bar but it looked nice. We were out and about most of the time.

Stopped into their café for some capuccinos. Safe area, and clean space with a measure of elbow room compared to other shops. The staff was friendly with good energy and gave us two cups of well prepared capuccinos.. they went the extra mile with providing us change we needed and I got a complimentary glass of water. Grazie!

I stayed in this hotel for two nights last week. I enjoyed my stay. The location was close to many attractions. The room was clean, spacious, and elegant. The breakfast was very delicious. The staff was nice. I recommend it.

Barbara and Roberta from the Hotel Nazionale in Rome exceeded our expectations when they spent approximately one hour of their time helping us make prior arrangements for pressing our wedding attire, finding a florist, and arranging appointments at a hair salon for our 25th wedding anniversary renewal of our wedding vows. They were just as excited as we were, making us feel extra special. We do not want to forget to mention that the hotel is in an excellent location - walking distance to many major sights and restaurants. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was very good with a variety of breakfast fruits, pastries, and meats to choose from. We will definitely be staying there on future visits.

This hotel is above average for the area and a great value at the price. We really enjoyed our time there. The location is good depending on where you want to be, it's very close to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. But not so close to the Colosseum, Vatican or some of the fun areas like Trastavere. Also one of the best gelato places in Rome is right around the corner - Giolitti. Hotel has a little bit of a corporate feel to it but is in excellent condition. Probably the nicest room I have stayed in during my trip. High ceilings, plenty of space, big bathroom. Really great room and a good hotel.

Great location to all of the attractions in rome and amazing customer Service! The minute we arrived I realized I left my backpack in the Taxi. Federico at the front desk immediately began calling both taxi companies in the city. Thanks to him and a very nice taxi driver I was able to recover my bag with ID's and $.

This hotel was recommended to my by a friend and I was so glad they did, we had a spectacular stay here. The hotel is well kept and maintained by the style and the decor makes you feel like you stepped into Rome in the 1940s and 1950s (I mean that in a complementary way). Our room had a small sitting room and a separate bedroom to it. It was a nice spot to retreat to when we needed a break from sight seeing. The staff was exceptionally helpful. Everyone seemed to speak English (some more than others) but they were all so welcoming and friendly. When we were trying to figure out train routes online to get to the Amalfi coast, one woman spent a good 20 minutes looking up routes, calling the train line to clarify some "grey spots" on the website, and then arranging a cab to pick us up when our Train got to Naples to get down to the Amlafi region. It was exceptional and warm service. Every morning there is a complimentary breakfast which was a great relaxing way t start the day before going off to see the sites. The hotel itself faces the Italian Parliament square so most of the time it is very quiet (there is no traffic allowed and always a police presence). The only downfall was one morning a protester group was hanging out on the other side of the square so it made things a little noisy when they were on the megaphone. I think this is a rare occurrence but it is possible. Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Thanks for making our honeymoon extra special. The room is gorgeous with a lot of old world charm and flavor. This hotel has a great location near the pantheon, Piazza novona, trivoli fountain, Roman forum, etc. Don't miss the complimentary breakfast. There's a lot to choose from. You can even boil your own eggs and make your own fresh carrot juice. Great, friendly staff.

Wonderful hotel, unbelievable location. Stayed here for a week and it felt like home. A short walk to the Pantheon and situated in the middle of an amazing part of Rome. The front desk was always more than accommodating. We needed a converter when we arrived, and they had one to let us borrow. We called to front desk at different times and always felt like our needs came first. (Taxi etc.). The breakfast and coffee inclusion was a nice spread and became very useful for us. Just be sure to ask an employee to make your coffee for you instead of using one of the machines, it's much better. The rooms were kept very clean with turn down service at night, and thank god, the bed was great. Because you need a good bed after a day in Rome. Right next to the hotel is Gelatti and for coffee Tazo de Oro. Both great. Try the Yemen coffee at Tazo. I will look to stay here in a heartbeat upon returning to Roma.

It's a nice hotel located near walking distance to the Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, the pantheon and high end clothes shops. My boyfriend is 6'4 and he was too big for the bed and kept knocking into the phone in the bathroom. The front desk, Patrick, helped us a lot. The area is safe because it's near a parliament building, so you will be surrounded by police officers carrying a big rifles. The free continental breakfast was delicious. Assortment of pastries, cold cuts and two types of cheese, a lot of style of coffee and their juice machine was great.

Wow, what horrible reviews! I liked this hotel. The best gelato place in the universe is right around the corner, the piazza is nice, and the location is great. I found the staff to be very pleasant, very helpful, and the rooms to be exactly what I'd expect anywhere outside the US. If you learn how to say "please" and "thank you" in Italian, you accept the fact that the rooms are smaller than the Fairfield Inn, and that you are in Rome, you'll like this. If you want the Marriott type experience, perhaps you should stay in the US and go to Niagra Falls for your vacation experiences.

Paid an outrageous fee for 3 nights at the refundable rate. A month before our trip, I realized I'd have to cancel due to the pandemic ( our airline stopped flying and canceled our flights) I wrote Hotel Nazionale and told them of the cancelation and asked for my refund. Immediately recieved an email aknowledging the cancelation, and was told my refund would be "expidited". 3 weeks later, no money had been refunded so I wrote Nazionale again. Immediately recieved an email asking me to be patient and stating my money would be returned. Now, I just got an email from Nazionale asking how my stay was with them, and asking for a good review. I can only assume that either my stay was not canceled, or that the hotel has kept my huge "refundable" payment. I'm working with my credit card company. I had planned to go to Rome just as soon as the pandemic ended. And I was going to make a point to stay at Nazionale out of solidarity for all the hardship I am sure they went through. But the way they have treated me in getting my money back has been terrible. I'd advise you stear clear of Nazionale. Caveat Emptor!

This is not the type of hotel me and my husband would normally stay in, but we were only going to be in Rome for one evening before we flew home and wanted to be in a great location near the Pantheon and the other main attractions. It is much more expensive than we would ever normally spend, but we got somewhat of a deal and wanted to treat ourselves. We had been to Rome before so just wanted to stroll around and have an evening among the beautiful sites. We usually prefer small B&Bs with more personal service. We arrived at the hotel with our suitcases and backpacks after a five hour train ride. The man at the front desk was somewhat friendly, but in a contrived way. We asked about getting a taxi to the airport the next morning, and all he did was try to push their limo service on us, which is more than a taxi. We've been to Rome and have taken a cab to the airport before, so we know that it is a 40 EUR fixed rate. He was trying to make us think that it may or may not be higher than that, implying that the taxi drivers could rip us off, which isn't possible. There were other people checking in beside us that were in a higher age bracket than us and were most likely more well off than us. They were getting much nicer treatment, getting everything explained to them. Our guy didn't even tell us anything about breakfast, I overheard it from the other group. When they were done they were offered the services of the bell hop. We were not and handled our bags ourselves. When we checked out the next morning we asked the (different) guy to call the taxi for us and he also tried to get us to take the limo. No thanks. He was very cold and impersonal and hardly talked to us. I felt like since we are probably not in the regular demographic of people who stay in this hotel, the staff were condescending towards us and did not treat us equally to other guests. The room itself was fine. We had a great view onto the piazza. We didn't spend much time in there but it worked fine for us. Wifi is a rip off at 10 EUR a day. Breakfast is mostly included and had quite a bit of selection. Eggs and omelettes cost, and were outrageously priced at 8 to12 EUR. The location is absolutely fantastic, with the Pantheon a few minutes walk and the Colosseum about 15 minutes, but I would never want anyone to stay somewhere where the staff are so blatantly rude and stereotyping towards people who they don't think fit in at their establishment. The behaviour of the front desk staff is totally inappropriate, as we are all paying money to stay there and should all be treated the same and with genuine kindness.

I plan on returning to Rome and when I do I will stay here again. Great location and friendly service. The room was clean and comfortable. We walked to the Colosseum and Vatican- not to mention everything in between. This hotel came recommended by a pilot and they usually know where to stay.

Upgraded to a junior suite on arrival to the hotel and thought we would have a great stay. However we were disappointed. Rooms and hotel are old and the air conditioning in our room couldn't keep up w ith the heat outside. The bed was hard as a rock. Internet was painfully slow, but at least it was free. The free breakfast was a let down with no eggs, bacon, cappacino, etc. The maids never really cleaned the room and didn't give us new soap. Would not stay here again with so many hotels to choose from in Rome.

This was the worst hotel experience I ever had!!!!!!!!!!! checked in to room, went out to dinner, came back and turned down the bed to find---OMG- semen-covered sheets that had not been changed!!!!!!!!!!!! It was downhill from there- they were nasty and dismissive, and when they finally switched the room under threat, the second room has stains all over the furniture and bed and blankets! Not sure if this is a short stay hotel, but it sure isn't a four-start deal! Never, repeat never, reserve here!!!!!!!!!!
