"Located next to the picturesque Sant Felip Neri Square in the atmospheric Gothic Quarter, the Hotel Neri Relais & Châteaux comprises two historic mansions, one dating to the 12th century. The modernist aspirations of the hotel are immediately apparent, though, from the front entrance’s elegant combination of glass and metalwork to the stone walls of the lobby. Rooms are crisp and subtly decorated in grays and greens offset by the wooden floors, and they're filled with high-tech features such as satellite TVs and Bluetoothspeakers, as well as desks. Bathrooms feature natural stone and rain showers, and most rooms look out onto the Gothic Quarter’s cobbled streets. The hotel also has a romantic restaurantwith 12th-century inspiration, and a roof terrace complete with hammocks and abeer-and-wine bar."

Hotel Neri

"How did it strike you on arrival? If you like the idea of staying in a restored medieval castle hidden down a tiny, quiet alleyway off one of the prettiest squares in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, Hotel Neri is the choice for you. What’s the crowd like?Hotel Neri mainly appeals to elegant friends and couples with an interest in culture and history. Tell us about your room. The best room in the house is definitely the Junior Suite, with its views of the charming Sant Felipe Neri Square below. This spacious room is all done up in sophisticated neutral tones and delicate fabrics. How are the beds? The sleep preferences menu allows guests to choose from sheets made of cotton, satin, or linen as well as down or hypoallergnic pillows. How are the bathrooms? Many of the peaceful, natural stone bathrooms have both a bathtub and rain shower. Adjustable mood lighting and Molton Brown products complete the luxe feel. What's the Wi-Fi situation?Free Wi-Fi for all guests. Anything stand out about other services and features? The cuisine at the A Restaurant is Catalonian with global influences. The menu, designed for sharing, is full of knockouts, especially the “delighted egg in its shell with parmentier, smoked eel, carbonara foam, and tobiko.” The Roba Estesa rooftop has been converted into an opulently landscaped oasis with cozy seating and twinkling lights under the stars—it's reserved just for guests and private events. What was most memorable about your stay?Staying in an actual medieval castle is the kind of thing you probably dreamed about as a small child. Do it! Bottom line: worth it?Hotel Neri is not cheap, but nor is it terribly overpriced for a boutique five-star hotel in an outstanding location." - Isabelle Kliger

The 13 Hottest New Restaurants in Barcelona

"In a city whose restaurant scene has been long ruled by the avant-garde, chef Alain Guiard has turned his back on modernist cuisine and returned to his more traditional roots. Located in one of Barcelona’s best-preserved medieval palaces, Restaurante A’s menu is dedicated to large, family-style dishes like Moorish chicken, shrimp carpaccio, and parmentier ravioli with wild mushrooms, truffles, and jamon Iberico. The environment is casual with prices to match, but the food is no less ambitious. For dessert, try the traditional torrijas — like a Spanish french toast — with smoked milk ice cream." - Isabel Conde

We had a great stay. The staff was amazing! Thomas was amazingly friendly and helpful. They accommodated an early check-in (10am), which helped after our flight that got us in at 9am. The pool, is a dipping pool but was nice after walking the gothic quarter all day. Breakfast there was the best meal we had every day with the fresh juices, breads, açaí bowl, and eggs/meats. Overall, great experience with its central location, great service/staff, and nice quite rooms/bathrooms. Would recommend to anyone coming to Barcelona, that wants to stay in the gothic quarters.

Charming boutique hotel in the Gothic Quarter- the best Barcelona neighborhood. Excellent location, very clean, supreme level of service, Tomas and the hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and made perfect recommendations for local restaurants and attractions, assisted with logistics and walking directions. Rooftop splash pool was a great amenity. A bit pricy but worth it. Highly recommend this hotel!

Amazing location and staff. We were greeted by Thomas who has an amazing high energy “type A” as he called it personality and was so helpful. We stayed in the apartments which were great. The rooftop areas were excellent for an evening cocktail. Rooms were well kept and service. We used them to book car service from our cruise ship there and then to the airport which worked great. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I spent 5 days in Barcelona following a friends wedding and we decided to treat ourselves with a stay at Hotel Neri in the Junior Suite. We are so glad we did, we had such an amazing stay. I wanted to stay in a place that had history and interest but all the comforts of modern amenities and Hotel Neri provided it. ||The Room: |Located on the 3rd floor, the Junior Suite was spacious, comfortable and tranquil, it was our climate controlled escape from the Barcelona heat and humidity. I loved how the room incorporated local products. There were lovely textiles, bath and body products and house keeping left us some nice sweets every night which were made in a Spanish monastery. They provided a new glass water bottle every day which was much appreciated. Every hotel staff member we encountered said we had their favorite room in the hotel and we would have to agree. We had a beautiful view of the courtyard and school. I've seen complaints about how loud people find it but I didn't think it was that bad. It served as a comforting distant hum. During the evenings there would be a musician playing his violin in the small courtyard and it was lovely way to relax after a day of sightseeing. ||We did have two small issues with the room. First, the shower door didn't seal properly and water would leak out onto the floor. Second, we struggled a bit figuring out light switches as taking our room key out of the slot by the door cut all the power including the USB ports which we needed to charge our phones at night so we had to turn all the lights off with their switches. Unfortunately we couldn't find a switch for the floor lamp so my husband ended up unplugging the lamp every night.||The Food: |We were so glad we included breakfast when we booked our room. We really enjoyed both the food and the convenience of having it delivered to our room every morning. The juices, fruit and pastries were delicious. You can pick two breakfast plates and we tried almost all of the savory options. My favorite ended up being the eggs benedict with jamon iberico and the ham/cheese and truffle toast. So yummy! We tried room service once because the restaurant was fully booked and had no availability for walkins and it was enjoyable. I recommend making a reservation or asking at check-in if you're interested in dining there. The room service menu however has a small sampling of items from the main menu. The Chusco bread was some of the best bread we've ever had. ||We had a couple mix ups on our food orders. On our final morning we were sent the salmon eggs benedict instead of the jamon, they apologized, quickly brought over the correct dish and offered to leave the salmon version behind but I asked them to take it. Our more involved mix up was with the dinner room service, reading off the menu we asked for the cod croquettes which are listed as 4 unidades for 12 euros and they only brought us one. When we called to ask about the other 3, someone told my husband that they sell unit by unit, in which case why does the menu state 4 units for 12 euro? I understand that the restaurant dine in menu lists the croquettes as a single unit for 3 euro so that may be the source of the misunderstanding but I did not like the denial we were met with when we stated that the menu clearly states 4 for 12. There wasn't much pushback however and they brought up the other 3 croquettes.||The Staff:|Aside from the above issue which I decided to chalk up to a busy night for the staff at the restaurant, we found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and accommodating. When we arrived we were immediately greeted, offered water and they took our bags off our hands. They provided a helpful map with recommended sites for sightseeing and dining. We were taken up to our room by Marcelo (I think that's his name, he's one of the younger staff) and he was very friendly and welcoming. At every interaction with staff they asked how we were enjoying our stay, what we're doing for the day and would ask if we needed anything. We shared the elevator a couple of times with maintenance and housekeeping staff and they were all very friendly as well. On our first morning, the elevators were having an issue so we took the stairs and were given a sunny 'good morning' by a staff member making his way up. ||We met the wonderful Thomas on our second day and he fully embodied this level of hospitality and personalization, I will forever appreciate how we were treated by him. He let us in at the end of a long day and made sure to welcome us and asked for our names. He was always asking if there was anything he could do to help, would provide recommendations to make our outings go smoothly and would try to make you laugh. A tip if you stay here, when someone offers to call a taxi for you, take them up on their offer. We tried and failed to catch a taxi one morning and missed our Parc Güell window. When we returned to the hotel to figure out what to do, Thomas and another staff person, took it upon themselves to help us find a solution, including walking with us to the closest major street to catch a taxi or calling a taxi for us. We ended up deciding to get tickets for the following day and Thomas then proceeded to recommend another activity for our morning while we waited for our Sagrada Familia window (for which Thomas called a taxi for us). Again, I appreciate that they seemed to care not just about our experience at the hotel but our experience in Barcelona as a whole. ||The staff provided an unforgettable, hospitality experience for my husband and I. It would be easy to say that we just had a standard Relais & Chateaux experience however we have stayed at the R&C hotel in Carmel-By-The-Sea and this stay blows that one out of the water. Hotel Neri staff are remarkable at their jobs and I hope they are appreciated by management! We would love to come back again one day!

Our stay at Hotel Neri was fantastic, a perfect balance of historical charm and modern luxury. It richly deserves the coveted Relais et Chateaux designation. The location was perfect, down a quiet alley in the quaint and bustling Bari Gothic, which is full of bars, restaurants, churches and boutiques. Our room overlooked a pretty and historic courtyard; the bathroom had fluffy bathrobes, a towel warmer and a rainforest shower that seemed to be carved into the granite walls. It’s worth it to add the daily breakfast; it’s a beautiful presentation of fruit, breads, yogurts and juices, plus two more entrees of your choosing, And the service was exceptional. Everyone at Hotel Neri went out of their way to make us feel welcome and accommodated. It was difficult to leave when our stay was over.

Hotel Neri is a hidden gem in the heart of Barcelona. Our friends were staying there, and we joined them for a few unforgettable days. The location couldn’t be better—tucked away in the charming Gothic Quarter, close to everything yet quiet and peaceful. The atmosphere is refined and intimate, with stylish interiors and a cozy, welcoming vibe. We especially loved the rooftop and the small courtyard. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and elegant experience in Barcelona.

Our recent three-night stay at the Neri Hotel in Barcelona was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we checked in, Thomas went above and beyond to make us feel like royalty. His warm welcome and personalized attention set the tone for what turned out to be an absolutely charming experience. The entire staff at the Neri Hotel and Restaurant was exceptional—friendly, welcoming, and always attentive to our every need. Special thanks to Ellie, who went out of her way to assist us with taxi and dinner reservations. Her efficiency and helpfulness made our trip all the more seamless and enjoyable. Our room was perfectly appointed, offering a blend of comfort and elegance that made it a peaceful retreat after exploring the city. The hotel itself is steeped in history, as are the surrounding areas, adding an extra layer of magic to our visit. Its prime location, close to everything yet tucked away in a charming and quiet corner, made it the ideal base for discovering Barcelona. From the dining to the accommodations and everything in between, every moment of our stay was memorable. We highly recommend the Neri Hotel to anyone seeking an unforgettable blend of history, comfort, and exceptional service. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for making our visit so special!

Google
Great little boutique hotel on a quiet edge of old town. Gracious, attentive staff with excellent concierge service, one of whom directed us to an incredible Basque restaurant. Small downstairs restaurant and colorful bar with bartender who makes great drinks. Our favorite hotel of the trip-you won't regret staying here.

Yelp
I was here for a friend's rehearsal dinner - what an incredible experience. This place is stunning! They rented the entire restaurant and the food was incredibly delicious. If you're looking for a spot to be able to host an stunner event that will impress everyone - this is a spot! It's so gorgeous and inviting for every direction.

Yelp
Fantastic food for all 3 of us! Crisp food was perfectly crisp, not hard. Other textures were perfect. Excellent service (thank you Lorena) too.

Yelp
Fantastic!!!! Everything was spot on...everything. Thomas was especially amazing, going above and beyond our entire stay. He was extremely friendly and made my daughter's birthday (reason for our trip) experience that much better. She talks about Thomas still. From the cappuccinos upon arrival, early check-in/late check out, outstanding rooms and comfort beyond expectation, to the exceptional location, this hotel has it all with literally no recommended areas for improvements. The overall service of this hotel was on par or better than any other high end resort we have visited over our years of travel. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel, ideal location, and excellent service. If we come back to Barcelona we will definitely stay here again! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Rudest staff I've ever come across, argumentative and mean to a couple of American patrons who just wanted to grab a drink and enjoy Barcelona. Your hard earned money will be better spent elsewhere. To the manager, you may want to reconsider keeping the two folks who were taking care of the door on Friday June 11th around 6pm. I get a lot of requests from my friends based in the cities I've lived in the US (NYC, SF and LA, where I currently live) on where to go grab a drink or enjoy a meal while visiting Barcelona , this will most definitely be advised as a spot not to set foot in. Luckily Barcelona has many other good hotels, rooftop bars and anything this establishment has to offer.

Yelp
A wonderful Relais and Chateaux experience. As one would expect. Location is perfect - in the heart of the gothic section yet close enough to the sea that you can walk there. The service was impeccable. Everyone who helped us did it happily and expertly. The complementary breakfast was high quality and quite tasty. But didn't change much over our 4 mornings we were there. I know it's very typical of a small boutique hotel, but there could have been a few more amenities. Especially a fitness center. But i think that's more of an American expectation vs European. All in all would highly recommend and would stay there again.

Yelp
Really enjoyed it! It's a boutique hotel located near the Las Ramblas down an alley. You wouldn't expect the inside from what you see outside. Very well decorated. The rooms were big, bathrooms were luxurious, A/C was cold, window opened up to the alley, the bed was comfortable, and room service was on point. The breakfast every morning was fresh and made to order and quite honestly, it was some of the best food I had in Barcelona overall. Service was friendly. Be warned: it's pricey. Call ahead to check for specials.

Yelp
While a bit pricey, this is quite a nice hotel which is in a 12th century building! The room was quiet, with modern decor and amenities. They are quite friendly here and the included breakfast was quite good as well. Note, the entrance to this hotel/restaurant is only accessible mostly by foot. However, shuttle service vehicles are allowed to drive right up to the door. You might consider having the hotel book you one of these if you don't want to walk in to the area. It costs more than a taxi but I thought it was worth it for the convenience. They can pick you up and drop you off at the airport for about $50. each way.

Yelp
worst hotel ever if i could give it -1000 stars i would! rude staff bad service bad food and tiny rooms! i asked the reception to make me a reservation at nobu for the next day and they said ok it's confirmed, next day i go to nobu and find out that the restaurant opens on 22 feb ( yes they made me a reservation for a restaurant that hasn't even opened yet) PLEASE DONT GO HERE ITS THE WORST PLACE TO BE IN BARCELONA

Yelp
In the heart of the Gothic Quarter sits this beautiful little hotel with surprisingly modern interior design. There is a perfect balance of old and new with the stunningly beautiful stone lobby, stone tiled bathrooms, reclaimed wood closets and doors paired with bright modern paintings, fixtures and furniture. The location is perfect. You can easily walk to many great shops and restaurants in the GQ as well as the cathedral. It's a busy place, so you will get some noise if the windows are open, but that's part of the fun. The only downside I can think of is that a cab can't let you off at the door, so you'll need a rolling suitcase for the short walk from the square to the hotel. But it's worth it to stay in this gorgeous hotel. Not only do I long to stay there again, I kind of want to move in.

Yelp
Are you a westerner looking for a HANGOVER BRUNCH? You don't have to be staying here to come enjoy the petite, tranquil breakfast room which includes a continental mini buffet platter brought to your table, unlimited breakfast entrees from the menu, and all the juice, coffee, and water you might want. 25 euros. Worth it, if you're in need of a breakfast for champions...of drinking. The dining room also has floor to ceiling glass overlooking one of the cutest, most old-school streets of the gothic.

Yelp
We went inside the bar for a drink. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was one particular person, Alexi. He suggested that it might be a nice surprise for me and my sister if we went back there in the evening and wow! My sis and I were very impressed. There was a rooftop bar with the band playing! The food was great and the staff was wonderful!if it weren't for Alexi, we wouldn't have known about this place. Thank you, Alexi! What a way to end our vacation!

Yelp
I just checked in and am very, very impressed. It was hard to find as its entrance is on a narrow cobble stoned walkway. But, so far, well worth it. I was greeted by Ignacio and warmly welcomed in impeccable English. The hotel is a delightful mixture of an old city center town house with modern accents that I found to be one of the most visually engaging places I have seen. I smiled as I walked in. And a few hours later, let me just add that the hotel restaurant served the best meal I have had in Spain so far. Admittedly, I have been mostly in tourist restaurants, but it was excellent. It is not a place to expect to find company, just excellent food, nice ambiance and attentive and warm staff.

Yelp
A travel agent had recommended this hotel to me, I really loved everything about it. It's very chic and tucked away in the Gothic Quarter down one of those narrow corridors that are too small for cars. When the taxi driver dropped us off nearby for the first time he explained he couldn't take us any further and that we'd have to walk through the ancient winding streets to find the hotel - and he couldn't even remember which streets we needed to take to find it. We ended up getting totally lost, but it was well worth it. This boutique hotel is super quiet, luxurious and very quaint. Walking distance to all kinds of great shops and restaurants, and a short distance to Las Ramblas and the beautiful beaches too. It's like a little hideaway in the middle of the city. The restaurant was delicious, but maybe a bit too she-she to eat there every day.

Yelp
Hotel Neri--In the Gothic area of Barcelona (walking distance to Las Ramblas, though with the nature of its hard partying touristy vibe, not sure if this is a selling point), an intimate boutique hotel oozing history, a restaurant and bar area from the 12th century; gorgeous, minimalist, and chic, decor, contemporary pops of color on each floor, blazing fuschia or poppy red, vibrant citron yellow or chartreuse, striped royal purple rugs and deep plaited coral cushions--I love those unafraid and unapologetic about color. Upon checking in, we were offered drinks and espresso, fresh baked cookies in the welcoming lobby, textile loveseats and chairs. The customer service personalized and caring, attention to detail everywhere, e.g. in our room they'd placed an anniversary welcome basket with sweets, chocolate, and wine. Every morning we'd go down for breakfast, which would be Catalan toasted tomato bread with assorted fresh fruits and prosciutto, yogurts and daily baked pastries, also hot eggs cooked to order, pancakes, french toast and the like. The most heavenly cappuccino, whipped with frothy milk, strong espresso based. The service warm and informal, eager to please. Because the weather was warm, we'd often sit in their courtyard, which because it was such a historical place of interest, was a tourist attraction. The little yard was brick laden from hundreds of years ago, and was the backyard of a cathedral. We'd get up late and saunter down by 10:am, where tourists were in full swing, serious cameras strapped on, ready to take photos. It was surreal to sit and eat where others were coming to take in the specific historical sight. The hotel is tucked away in a tiny little alley, cobblestones, almost impossible to find, and were it not for the kind gentleman who picked us up from the airport, we'd have been permanently lost. Despite the ancient history of the location, the exterior of the place is surprisingly modern, all glass from floor to ceiling, which they lock for safety and buzz you in. Our room was cozy, with all modern conveniences, marble bathroom and tiling, twin sinks, bathtub and shower. But the real luxury was we had a suite on the penthouse with a private balcony, foliage and greenery, vines running up the walls for privacy, glorious flowers dotting the landscape, and wait for it ... a huge bathtub for two with jets and a massive rain shower outside on wooden planks! My husband couldn't resist that rain shower, though I don't get the appeal of water running into my face, pelting me, not my thing. Very romantic room, it felt like an indoor/outdoor sort of thing, but with gobs of privacy. Love it, and high recommend. It was well worth the extra $$. The hotel was kind enough to send the guy, who regaled us with stories on the drive to the hotel. Naturally, when we landed on September 22, it was Día Sin Coches or "no car" day in Barcelona, which meant many roads were closed to traffic ... so there we were with our big honker of an S Class black Mercedes driving down little alleys, passers-by turning to stare into the windows, truly it was the ultimate pimp mobile, and pretty funny, our driver negotiating all sorts of hair raising turns with shouting and yelling at cops ... no better intro to Barcelona :-)

Yelp
The good: location, decor, breakfast The bad: Tiny rooms, very uncomfortable bed, can't open the windows at night because it is VERY noisy from passing drunks and many barking dogs; can't open the CURTAINS because the apartment opposite is about 20 feet away [very narrow streets-they are GOTHIC] and the residents spend all their time on their balconies, peering at you while they smoke and chat on their cell phones. We had NO air conditioning the entire stay. Now I understand that the a/c can go out anywhere, but despite CONSTANT promises they did not fix it. Both mornings they said they would; we'd get back early evening to a stiflingrtoom and no explanation for the lack of service. At midnight the second nite they finally reached - at our insistence - the Manager, who offered to move us to another hotel - at MIDNIGHT the last night with our flight home leaving at 8 am the next day! She then offered us in writing a two night complimentary stay anytime in the future, knowing we live almost 6000 miles away and were unlikely to ever return to Barcelona. But now we will find ourselves there again at the end of a Regent Seven Seas Cruise, in September, and so we accepted their offer. The Hotel manager, Esther Bombelli, THEN said they could not keep their promise as they had no availability on the dates requested, 10 months in the future. However, none too bright, she then offered us rooms at a 25% discount on those same dates! But the supposed discounted rate - again, these people are not too bright [everyone has to work somewhere, I suppose - thank God they are not air traffic controllers] was actually much higher than the rate available on Booking.com. People of honor keep their word. These are not people of honor. They are also not very smart. At $400 a night there are far better choices in Barcelona.

Yelp
The terrace of this hotel is a real rip off. We had just a coffee and we had to pay 3x more than normal coffee bars around. The quality was very mediocre and the staff was confused. They did not share info with us about extra charges we had to pay. If you like to experience Barcelona don't fall for those touristic traps. Very disappointed.

Yelp
Great location, within walking distance to LaRambla, the Boqueria and Cathedral De Cruz. Very nice and spacious room with bathroom, clean and quiet.

Yelp
Great boutique hotel, about 22 rooms. Atmosphere is great, accommodations great. Everything is very clean. Extremely helpful staff rented a car for us, have us directions to the right train station, even mailed me some bracelets my girlfriend left in the room. Rooms have big windows that open or balconies. Nobody will bother you here. The restaurant is nice but a bit over the top fancy.

Stunning boutique hotel in heart of Bari Gotic. We had a room with a terrace - flawless design and comfort. We didn't eat in the restaurant but it looks beautiful.

Yelp
Fancy hotel in Barcelona. The hotel staff was very nice to tell you, did not see anyone here not smiling after 10 days of vacation we spent in Barcelona. The hotel we had booked the tickets online at the same time. Barcelona airport is easy and is far from Barcelona. Come back to the hotel, the hotel was clean, well-cooked in a restaurant and as I mentioned here once staff was pleasant and helpful. I recommend the hotel and we are happy to get back into it.
