Andalusia: Restaurants and Hotels with Arab Influences

"CoolRooms Palacio Villapanés is a hotel in Seville housed in an 18th-century palace. The architecture reflects the Arab influence on the city's history, with features like inner courtyards, fountains, arches, and Mudéjar-style decorations. Originally built for Admiral López-Pintado, the palace combines historical elements with modern design by GCA Arquitectos and Patricia Urquiola." - The MICHELIN Guide

11 Best Hotels in Seville

"Step through the massive wooden doors of this property and up the marble steps to the sound of water trickling from a fountain surrounded by gardenias, magnolias, and palms. From its restaurant to its orange tree courtyard out back, captivating vistas await you at each step around this splendid Baroque palace named after the marquis of Villapanés, whose descendants lived in it until just 15 years ago. Originally, however, it was built by the marquis of Torreblanca de Aljarafe, whose immense coat of arms can be found on the grand staircase that ascends from the romantic central patio. It’s a step into history, although contemporary designers from Philippe Starck to Patricia Urquiola have helped to create the spaces you see today. Address: C. Santiago, 31, Casco Antiguo, 41003 Sevilla, Spain" - Agnish Ray

We stayed at Palacio Villapanes for 3 nights, and it truly exceeded our expectations. This was, without a doubt, one of the best hotel we’ve stayed at in Spain. The property is absolutely beautiful, with stunning architecture and elegant details throughout. Everything was spotless and so well-maintained, you can tell they really care about the guest experience. The staff were warm, professional, and attentive, which made our stay even more enjoyable. From the serene atmosphere to the luxurious amenities, every part of our stay felt relaxing and special. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier hotel experience in Spain.

I loved my stay at Palacio de Villapanés. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, they perfectly mixed the classical style of the original Palace with modern furniture. The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable. Separate shower and tub to bathroom. The highlight is probably the staff. They are so friendly and attentive, they make you feel at home, every single one of them. Sandra from the breakfast staff even remembered my allergies the next day which is soooo uncommon in Spain (I have been living in Madrid for 1 year, so trust me it’s uncommon). Breakfast was delicious and a la carte, definitely worth ir. The location: even though it is a longer walk to the main tourist attraction (Real de Alcazar) I really liked the area. It’s a 10 minute walk to the main shopping area and there are some really good restaurants nearby. The staff helped us with recommendations nearby for dinner and they were all great. They also provided a map of the city pointing to the main tourist attractions and with a list of restaurants they recommend. I would highly recommend a stay here, price and value definitely match.

I had such an incredible stay at CoolRooms Palacio Villapanés in Seville. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, gracious, and genuinely helpful. I requested a room change—not because anything was wrong, but simply due to lighting and layout preferences—and they accommodated me with such kindness and care. That alone made a lasting impression.||The design of the hotel is thoughtful and elegant. Small details, like Molton Brown toiletries in glass bottles, elevated the experience in subtle but meaningful ways. The food was delicious, and the bed—what a dream! After a few sleepless nights in Menorca due to an overly firm mattress, I was beyond grateful for the comfort of the bed at CoolRooms. I finally slept deeply and woke up feeling rested.||The location is also a huge plus—centrally situated, walking distance to nearly everything in Seville’s historic heart.||The only hiccup in an otherwise wonderful stay came at the very end. On my last morning, I stopped in for a quick breakfast before heading to the train station. The staff told me it was included, so I helped myself. But during checkout, I was surprised to find a €35 charge for it. I would’ve appreciated clearer communication, especially since I’ve stayed at hotels like Palacio de los Duques in Madrid where a full gourmet breakfast—including à la carte orders—is genuinely included. It was a bit of an unfortunate note to end on, though it didn’t overshadow the overall quality of the stay.||Still, I would absolutely return and recommend CoolRooms to others. It’s a truly beautiful property with impeccable service and comfort.

I want to thank the hotel for such a wonderful stay. The staff took amazing care of my partner and I during our 5 nights in Sevilla. They treated us with great surprises like tickets to Iconica Fest’s pride party in Plaza de España and a wonderful upgrade to their biggest suite… it was iconic and stunning. The staff were so attentive to us to make sure we had a comfortable and amazing time in Sevilla. Also, it was wonderful to witness an amazing cultural and religious event right outside our suite’s balcony for La Virgen Santisima Maria del Rocio religious procession that started right outside of the hotel. These processions occur during religious holidays in Spain and we were so excited to experience it in person! Muchisimas gracias por una estancia genial! Hasta la proxima! We will definitely return and stay with the hotel in the future.

The hotel has been beautifully renovated. The historic structure and character has been maintained and blended with a chic modern design. The location is excellent. Just a 15 minute walk from the historic centre of Seville but away from the hustle & bustle of the crowds. However, we were very disappointed in the quality of the service. It was not up to the standard of a 5 star hotel. We asked the hotel to arrange a day trip for us to the Alhambra. An excellent driver picked us up but the hotel failed to give us or the driver the name or meet location for our guide there. Our driver had to make a number of calls to track down both and it appeared that the hotel had failed to confirm the guide arrangements. The food in the hotel restaurant was excellent but it was often difficult to get service. We also had difficulty getting a response to pre arrival emails requesting assistance in making dinner reservations. Generally, the proactive approach to service you expect in a 5 star hotel was missing.

Beautiful hotel tucked away on a side street away but so close to the major sights. This property is a restored palace with so many artistic and design elements to capture the eye. Easy walk to sights, bars, restaurants. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Best of all the hotel was quiet and the beds were so comfortable.

The room was one of the best rooms I've ever stayed in. It was comfy, large and the bathroom was large and spacious. The hotel staff were amazing, especially the two individuals who checked me in and Manuel at the front desk who gave me a quick tour of the hotel. Amazing experience overall.

Google
A lovely Hotel to see Seville from. Great location, the rooms are lovely and comfortable with great AC even when it was 38c outside. The plunge pool, although small on the rooftop sun terrace, was great after a hot day. Staff were great and very helpful in booking taxies and train tickets.

Yelp
Nestled in the heart of Seville, Spain, Hotel Palacio Vallepanes is a true oasis of beauty and tranquility. Despite the sweltering heat that often envelops the city, this boutique hotel manages to provide a remarkable escape that is worth every moment spent within its charming walls. From the moment you step into the courtyard, you are enveloped by a sense of history and grandeur. The hotel's rich history is palpable in every nook and cranny. The architecture and decor seamlessly blend traditional Spanish elements with modern touches, creating an ambiance that is both timeless and inviting. One can't help but be captivated by the meticulous attention to detail evident throughout the hotel. The beautifully adorned rooms offer a comfortable and luxurious stay, allowing guests to unwind after a day of exploring the vibrant streets of Seville. The serene courtyard, adorned with lush greenery and a soothing fountain, provides a perfect setting for relaxation, ensuring that even in the midst of the scorching heat, Hotel Palacio Vallepanes remains a haven of calm. But perhaps what truly sets this establishment apart is its dedication to impeccable service. The staff's warmth, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm to make every guest's stay memorable are commendable. Whether it's offering insider tips on local attractions or serving a delectable meal at the hotel's restaurant, their hospitality adds an extra layer of enchantment to the experience. Hotel Palacio Vallepanes isn't just a place to stay; it's an immersion into the captivating history and culture of Seville. Its ability to transport you to a different time while still providing modern comforts is a testament to its charm. If you're seeking an unforgettable getaway that blends elegance, history, and respite, look no further than this splendid gem in Seville's heart.

Yelp
This hotel is gorgeous. They literally transformed an old palacial home. Built for royalty! The rooms were comfy and well decorated. The shower was a little confusing, but nothing we couldn't handle lol. Amenities include a fully stocked fridge with cava and beer. And other snacks. The roof top bar with the plunge pool provides a prime lookout to view the city. Check out the sunset views! The location is pretty convenient. Just a 10-15 min walk to the major attractions of Alcazar and the Cathedral. The service was very pleasant, friendly, and helpful. From the time we checked in and offered us cava/champagne, to the tour they gave us of our room, to helping us book a flamenco reservation, they were always ready to help. I liked that the hotel also provided a list of restaurants they recommend. We tried a few of them and they didn't let us down! 10/10 would stay here again if in Seville.

Yelp
Hotel Palacio De Villapanes has the welcoming 'WoW' factor: We were here for a 3 day city break, and this hotel just made the whole experience of Seville something to remember and return to. Just stepping into the reception we were greeted by our names, and given a welcoming cocktail. Now that's a good start. We had booked the Executive Suite, which had modern furnishings, balcony & free mini-bar. Room was well cleaned each day and attended to in the evenings. The hotel bar provided a good service, they only issue being a tea drinker is the lack of tea choice and the lack of facilities to make tea in the room. We didn't get to use the restaurant as we wanted to eat out, but room-service was very good, and the court yard is a nice quite, sun-trap with bar staff seeing to your every need. WiFi was up and down, but I did learn to move around the room for a good signal, which was an area by the door; (maybe they could look into wifi boosters). In all an enjoyable stay.

Yelp
This was favorite of all the hotels during my 3 weeks in Spain. Room overlooked beautiful courtyard! The entrace alone makes you fall in love with the place. It s a great location that is off the beaten path and squirreled away in the barrio but so easy to get to the sites. The staff is so friendly, helpful and plesant. The bed....I will dream about sleeping in that bed for a long time to come. So cozy! Oh, and free internet!

Yelp
This was our very favorite hotel in our 2 week visit to Spain. Unfortunately we were only there for one night. We were greeted by our very own concierge who knew our names and appeared whenever we needed anything throughout our short stay. We even got a small guided tour of the hotel upon arrival. What struck us immediately was not only how friendly and helpful everyone was, but the ambiance there had a certain quiet peacefulness about it. Given the excitement in all of Spain, it was a very welcome retreat. The room was GORGEOUS in a simple and elegant way. The entrance to the hotel is beautiful and the courtyard in the center was wonderful. Since we landed there on a Sunday where some things in town were not open, we took advantage of the comfortable seating in the courtyard to read, have a drink and relax for the first time on our trip. The shower was very cool and huge, the bed was comfortable and I got my best night sleep there. The bath products were the best. The location was probably central, but quite frankly with all the twists and turns of the small roads in Seville, we always took a cab. I cannot say enough good things about this GEM of a hotel.

Yelp
We have stayed at many different hotels all over the world, but we have never experienced better service than Hotel Palacio de Villapanes. WOW! We cant put a finger on anything. Lowly staff, extremely forthcoming, smiling all the time, helped us get to know the city, great recommendations regarding restaurants and sightseeing. The room we stayed in was incredible and very very clean. It was nice and quite. We can definitely recommend this hotel and its staff and we will back shortly.
