Stayed here for 2 nights for a work trip to El Paso and I definitely enjoyed my stay.
For starters, I love historic hotels, so it was a bonus that this one has lots of history. It was built in 1912 and even has a ghost story or two (does any old hotel NOT have a ghost story?).
They have 2 restaurants inside. My coworker and I went to Sabor on our first night there and enjoyed the chips, guac, tacos, and Denise, our waitress. The other restaurant is more upscale and we chose not to try it out given that I was wearing joggers and a t-shirt lol.
It's nearby to other historic places downtown. I was able to walk to Anson Eleven, a great local restaurant for dinner. I also walked to a restaurant called Taft Diaz for breakfast the following morning. As a petite female, I felt very safe walking around the city alone in this area.
The gym is actually really big. At first, I was surprised at how big it was. But then I leveraged it both mornings I was there and I quickly saw why. There are definitely a lot of people who use it! They had enough treadmills (6-7 I think?), but when I tried to use the free- weights the next day, it felt like there were 3 of us all trying to use the same size weights for our workouts. So if I stay here again, I'm going to have to wake up earlier to get my workouts in.
What makes this place lose a star for me is because they only have little mini 12 oz bottles of water. They give you two in your room so I quickly drank those. I went down to the lobby to get extra water and their little snack shop didn't have ANY bottled water. I asked them at the front desk and they said "we must be out." (For real, bottled water should be the LAST thing you run out of in El Paso!). So I was disappointed they didn't have a backup stock. They offered me little 12 oz waters and handed me two. I told them that I normally drink 120 ounces a day, so I needed more. They told me I could have more, but I'd have to pay for it (insert eye roll). But I guess it's the same as having to pay for some in the snackshop. So I pretty much bought a case of 12 oz bottles off of them. But either way, I have stayed at places that have complimentary water, even if it's just a refillable station. At the absolute least, make sure you have enough to purchase at the snack area!
Anyhoo, I'd definitely stay here again (and making sure I bring enough water with me ;) )
