My son joined us at the last minute on our Switzerland trip so I booked him a single room at the Pickwick as our place only slept 2. Nice small hotel with a restaurant/bar in prime location along the waterfront overlooking the bridge. Only thing which was very concerning, which I am knocking 2 stars off, was that someone entered my son's room at 10:30pm on Sept 9th when he was lying in bed. They quickly left without saying a word when they realized he was in the room. Not sure how/why someone was able to enter his room. My son told me a few days after after we had checked out and was staying in Murren. I asked him if he told the hotel/restaurant staff and he said no. ||Also make sure they have malt vinegar before you order the fish & chips - they ran out and we only found out after our food had arrived. Fish & chips was excellent tho as well as the sauce they serve with it.

This was a good location and good stay! Really close to the bridge + old town, right in the center of Lucerne. Staff was friendly and accommodating, with nice instructions. The view was gorgeous with the Chapel Bridge too! Some things to note: - Since the location is on top of a pub, we did see some dead cockroaches next to the elevator on the first floor. Luckily, didn't see anything in the rooms, but still keep your baggage closed at night just in case! - Can get a little noisy at night, since it is a pub so bring earplugs if you need them - They note this as well, but there are lots of flies and potentially mosquitoes at night that are attracted to the light, so make sure to keep your windows closed, and they don't have AC!

Avoid at all costs. We made our booking directly with the Pickwick hostel. We arrived at 1:00 o´clock in the morning to the Pickwick and because they lack any reception desk personnel or night watch , we were left stranded in the street. After several attempts to contact anybody from the hostel to no avail, we had to look and pay for another hotel in the vicinity, the Hotel des Balances…that is a HOTEL, great place with outstanding customer service and located in the lake ´s shore too. It is worth mentioning that outside the Pickwick hostel closed entrance there was (is?) a telephone box allegedly to call in case of need for after-hours assistance, but nobody answered it. Needless to say, the Pickwick refused to reimburse the cost of our one-night stay at the Hotel des Balances. Nowhere in the Pickwick web page nor in the reservation confirmation it is mentioned that there is no night watch. This important fact should be prominently displayed and informed. We filed a complaint with the Luzern Tourist office but decided not to pursue it and not to invest any more of our leisure time on this matter. Never again, we would rather pay for a proper hotel than save the money and experience this third-world rated service at a place like the Pickwick.

Hotel is in strategic location, within short walk from Main Train Station and numerous attractions. Although our room was not exactly spacious, it was well-maintained and adequate for us. Kettle and fridge were available and we enjoyed having a balcony with a lovely view. Food at the cafe downstairs was also delicious. Enter via the restaurant/pub, move towards the right counter where the staff will perform the check-in procedure. May arrange to hv the luggages brought up to the upper floors by the very compact lift if necessary. Excellent and hardworking team. Susi from Housekeeping has done a wonderful job. Room, including the bathroom, was spotless. Pedro made a point to follow-up when we asked about some matters. Ramna has initiatives as he was always ensuring that guests were well-taken care. He’ll acknowledge the guests whenever he walked past them.

The location was absolutely perfect. The rooms were pretty basic but the price was reasonable. We didn't eat at the pub but we had drinks a couple times. The place is always busy which can be fun.

Pub was great. Staff were great - very friendly and let me check in early. Good beer. Didn't try the food. Great view! Room was very clean and sufficient. Location was great. Really close to the train station. Minus one star for the noise. There is an outside patio that is open until 2330 during the week and midnight on weekends. People will be out there drinking beer and having loud conversations. That is right outside your room if your facing the water. Also the floor creaks and you can hear the people above you walking around. That made me try not to walk around much in my room. Overall would recommend.

We stayed at this lovely property for 2 nights. It is a stone’s throw from the Lucerne train station and very easy to find, ideally located in the heart of old town Lucerne. The common areas of the hotel do not look like much but don’t let that put you off. The front of the hotel is a pub and the rooms are accessed up the stairs to the back of the pub. Check in was easy and they kept our bags while the room was made ready as we arrived prior to check in time. The room was small with two twin beds one in front of the other. Notwithstanding the size of the room, it had everything we would need for a comfortable stay and it was very clean. It also had a small balcony with a small table and two chairs overlooking the street and that afforded that straight on view of the Chapel Bridge and mountains in the distance. Delightful! The room does not have AC but there is a small standing fan. The fan did not help much. I found the room quite warm especially at night. That apart, we enjoyed wondering around the beautiful town enjoying the beautiful atmosphere and the wide range of restaurants, shops and places of interest right on our hotel doorstep. One morning there was a farmers market along the stretch right outside the hotel. Lovely! I would stay at this hotel again and I recommend it. The hotel staff we met were pleasant enough but what made our stay is the location, the comfort and cleanliness of the room and the beautiful views.

Wonderful stay! Stunning room view facing the chapel bridge. Very convenient location just in the Altstadt of Luzern and less than 10 minutes’ walk from the main train station. And thank you Sara for taking into account my room request which I really appreciated.
