Hotel Pigalle (Gothenburg, Sweden) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A quirky, idiosyncratic hotel set within the walls of a historic building. The décor is bold and eclectic, with dramatic features and plenty of personality; ask for one of the newer bedrooms. The top floor restaurant features an impressive roof terrace and comes into its own during the summer months." - Tablet Hotels

Great location near central station with bus and tram lines nearby. Close to shopping and the Saluhall for good lunch options. Love the moody vibe, dark colors and great artwork. Room was comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom was great, excellent shower. Breakfast was good, lots of options to choose from. Rooftop bar is a great way to spend a sunny afternoon.

Fantastic place to stay: it’s an extravagant fusion of 1900 luxury hotel and a high class brothel (without the services of course). The room was small but had a double marble shower that was like a waterfall. Bed was comfy and large. The best part was the rooftop restaurant and fantastic breakfast. The service was great and pleasant. The location was smack in the middle of everything.

As a Top Contributor on TripAdvisor I always do a lot of research before I decide where to stay on my trips around the world. Last time we visited beautiful Gothenburg we stayed at hotel Dorisa – a really magic experience! After reading a lot of nice reviews of hotel Pigalle I thought that this hotel was on the same high level. I am sorry to tell you that they have a way to go before they are on the same level…||First of all, the interior of the hotel has a romantic atmosphere, and so unique. It’s like stepping back in time (see my attached photos).||Our beautifully decorated Classique room (no 237) was very well appointed, equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bed was way too soft for our liking. The shower curtains will also disappoint, as there is nothing to stop the water from escaping throughout the tiny bathroom to greet you with a soggy experience while you finish getting ready.||You have to decide when you want to eat breakfast (one hour time-slot). Despite this, it was chaotic in the dining hall. Far too many people in a small area. There were no vacant tables inside, so we had to choose between sitting in the bar or outside at the rooftop area which was a freezing cold experience. The service during breakfast was not at a level one should be able to expect at this type of hotel.||The location of the hotel is very central and super close to the central station of Gothenburg (about 3 minutes walk), it is also close to a lot of restaurants, cafes and a big shopping mall where you will find everything||I really would like to recommend this hotel but are you looking for a magic experience in Gothenburg – Hotel Dorsia is the one you are looking for.||Regards |Svein-Magne Tunli from Bergen, Norway.

Hotel Pigalle markets itself as a luxurious boutique experience in the heart of Gothenburg. In reality, it’s an overpriced, poorly ventilated concept disaster hiding behind a velvet curtain and some Instagram filters.||We checked into a room that felt like a sauna — nearly 30°C (86°F). The air conditioning was set to 19°C immediately, yet after three hours, the temperature was still 26°C. When reported to staff, we were told “the AC is slow” and offered a fan as a solution. This would be laughable if it weren’t so outrageous for a hotel in this price range.||Opening the windows brings a new nightmare: relentless street noise from trams, traffic, and drunk passersby. Getting any real sleep here is a joke.||The room is a bizarre mash-up of “erotic luxury” gone wrong — heavy curtains like something out of a haunted opera house, old black-and-white photos of anonymous women in 1920s hats, and cheap fittings that scream budget, not boutique. The smell? A mix of sweat, carpet, and industrial perfume aggressively sprayed in the hallways to mask the lack of ventilation.||Staff are friendly 20-something hipsters with lots of personality and little to no practical grip on service recovery or problem-solving. The whole hotel feels like a failed student project in ironic hospitality.||Even the bedside light switches didn’t work.||This is not premium accommodation. It’s a parody of what someone thinks luxury looks like, without actually delivering any comfort or functionality. I won’t be returning — and I strongly advise anyone booking in peak season to look elsewhere unless you enjoy sweaty nights, street noise, and a decor style best described as “bordello cosplay.”

Great hotel, very nice staff and good location. Rooms are nice and well designed, in a french style. Renovation is a bit old, and several things (photos attached) are damaged, that's why 4 stars. In the morning it can be noisy, if the room is on the street side. AC working, everything is clean and comfortable, nice bathroom (tube and sink good to be changed). Breakfast is great (one of the best, I had in hotels), only please change the damaged cups (photo attached), so people don't hurt themselves. Atmosphere is very calm and nice and staff is very friendly. If you need to stay in Gothenburg and want to be in the center, choose Pigalle.

This hotel is a real gem: such as nice atmosphere! Very helpful staff and the breakfast is really on of the best I've had! They even have their own, homebaked glutenfree bread! |Bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. |The TV had chromecast, which was practical

Be prepared for LOUD "mood music" throughout the entire hotel, clearly audible from within your room (until 9pm or so). Also very dim lighting. Otherwise a very well decorated place with fine service.

We had been traveling all day and needed dinner. Very few places are open in Gothenburg on Sunday nights. We were grateful that they could find a table for us. I had lamb and my partner had cod. Both were very good.

Yelp
Simply put, one of my fav hotel experiences anywhere. This charming boutique hotel fashioned after "sinful Paris of the early 1900's" exudes style, classy comfort & decadence at a non-decadent price. Situated in the heart of Göteborg just a few mins walk from the train station, everything is within reach. For only a few bucks more, we opted for the 'Classic' room which affords a bit more room and includes a delightful nook for lounging. PROS: Breakfast: one of the greatest breakfast buffets you will ever indulge in...plus rooftop patio seating seals the deal! Fragrance: piped in scent helps make the experience unique Shower: greatest water pressure I've ever experienced at a hotel via rain shower head Motion sensor doors: frictionless movement Dimmer lights: sparking intimate evening shenanigans Molton Brown bath products: delicious Slow roll toilet lid: sometimes it's the little things Key deposit: hate keys in your pocket...not to worry, just drop at the front desk for safe keeping Restaurant/bar: perfect spot for a nightcap which includes a whiskey & tequila cart for deeper dives into the spirits CONS: Sewer smell: funky smells occasionally wafted into our room from down below

Yelp
Heaven or the Pigalle??!! OK, granted I make some assumptions here. Such as Heaven is an option for me in the afterlife. But barring that being in error, I have to say in all my years of business and personal travel (35 yrs.), this is most definitively the #1 best hotel I've ever stayed in. A close second was a villa in Bangkok circa 1991, but allow me to stay focused. The decor of the lobby lounge, rooms and hotel is straight out of Vienna fin de siecle, 1800's. The lobby/lounge area and restaurant are awash in the glow of candle light and fireplace. You'd think that every employee was an owner due to their sincere desire to make you welcome and comfortable. When my wife thought our luggage would be overweight, Niklas, the mgr. (owner?) kindly offered to pack and ship any excess clothing home to the States for us. And he would not consider taking any payment for this kind and gracious offering. The bedroom was a sanctuary. The think walls of the building block out almost all sound from within and without the building. Except for the magical train whistle from the nearby train station we heard next to nothing for the week we stayed there. The down feather bed, and mattress make you never want to get out of bed and deco photos, flowery wall coverings, and bathroom fixtures create a feeling of being back in the day. The restaurant deserves a review in and of itself. It is a gourmet experience from start to finish. From the multiple offerings at the customary inclusive breakfast fare of home baked goods, locally sourced cheeses, eggs, fantastic coffee and latte's and charcuterie to the incredibly creative and sumptuous dinner offering. All enjoyed tucked under the eaves of the inn's top floor and awash in the glow from the fireplace. So bottom line. If you find yourself in the charming town of Gotenberg, or even if you don't. You need to find your way to the Pigalle, walk in and let the door close behind you, and allow yourself be transported back to another place and time. And please give a big Philly hello to Kiklas and his team at the Pigalle!!

Yelp
I have saved my 100th Yelp review for a place I absolutely adore - Hotel Pigalle. If I were to die here I would die happy and in hotel heaven - what a beautiful way to go! Don't get me wrong, I do not want to die but before my days are over I would like to be able to enjoy this place many more times! The door mat greeting you in the entrance reads 'L'aventure Commence' (something like 'the adventure begins') and that is exactly how it feels. Stepping over the threashold of Pigalle is like stepping into another time area where Mr Gatsby would have felt right at home: brass details everywhere, beautiful wallpaper and lamp armatures, lush carpets and fabrics. The old style elevator wishes you a 'Bon Voayage' or tells you with the seductive voice of Scarlett Johansson that 'you look rather handsome tonight'. I could continue to list small details like these for three pages but I will stop here and let you find out for your self. Located just a stone's throw from the Central Station in Göteborg Pigalle sits in a very advantagous location close to everything which the city has to offer: restaurants, bars, siteseeing and shopping. Service at the hotel is wonderful, relaxed and friendly - Swedish style. Do not expect a door man or designated concierge. There is a restaurant in the hotel on the 4th floor called Atelier with an amazing open rooftop terrace which I highly recommend and will write a seperate review for. This is also where you enjoy the delicious breakfast in the morning. Most of all I love the decoration in this hotel. We stayed in room 323 which has a beautiful light and airy feeling. All the rooms are different with different designs and themes. This is the most beautiful boutique hotel I have ever stayed at. Don't die before you get to experience it!

Yelp
I loved staying at this hotel! The hotel has a 1900's sinful Paris vibe. The restaurant on the top floor is amazing. Stay here if you're in Gothenburg.

Yelp
It's an old style hotel with dark lightings. Not used to stay in the dark. Seems the live music is on and on without the end. Could be an attractive point to the young.

Yelp
We are locals who spent the night in the city during Christmas. This boutique hotel was absolutely perfect and it was a great place to spend the evening. The room was immaculate and well appointed. The breakfast in the morning was at their 5 star restaurant and was amazing. The staff was friendly and attentive. All in all it was a great place to stay. This will be our go to hotel from here on out.

Yelp
We stayed here for 4 nights in May. A lovely boutique hotel, that is a great alternative to the big international chains, if you are splashing out on a bit of luxury. The bar downstairs is nice and relaxed and the staff are helpful. We only visited the restaurant for breakfast, which was delicious, but it was packed every evening for dinner. Its close to the bus station and central in terms of getting around to sightsee. Drinks are expensive but only on a par with the rest of the city
