Hotel Pigalle (Gothenburg, Sweden) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A quirky, idiosyncratic hotel set within the walls of a historic building. The décor is bold and eclectic, with dramatic features and plenty of personality; ask for one of the newer bedrooms. The top floor restaurant features an impressive roof terrace and comes into its own during the summer months." - Tablet Hotels

We booked even we read the negativ comments below cause of the super cute website and the good comments obviously. It depends very, very much on which room you get. If you not lucky you end like us: in a green grave yard, room 101. it’s super unmaintained, super low light, dirty and the best: the room next to 101 is a 24/7 maintaining room, with really loud vibrations and you are in the front of the hotels garbage bins and delivery traffic for the hotel. The windows are not soundproof, it’s just old. They obviously know the problem but don’t care. We got an other room next day. It was ok. But: even though a little unmaintained (time by time the water from the bathroom is getting pushed up so the toilet pipe is leaking (with the fresh water). Can not recommend this hotel. Booked category 2 of basically 3 types of room. Breakfast ist good.

Visited Hotel Pigalle for an office party, and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel has a nice, cozy and elegant atmosphere, and the staff were extremely warm and welcoming. The food was good as well. One of the best things about the hotel is its location, right in the center of town, making it super convenient to explore everything nearby. Overall, a fantastic hotel with great service and the perfect location. Highly recommend!

Good side: people were friendly Bad sides: I noticed a snus box under the side of my mattress at midnight, and it was disgusting to imagine sleeping on someone else's spit 🤢 I wonder if they even change the sheets; otherwise, they could see it. The minibar items and gifts were placed in the same box without a visible price. After check-out, I got an extra invoice, not knowing they were not free. The dog rate was one of the highest I have experienced in Europe within the same class of hotel, 450 SEK. However, the dog bed they offered was for small dogs if you go there with a medium or big dog, it's just an extra decoration to the room

Visiting from Canada and next time I visit Sweden this is where I'm staying! Beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms and great service. The staff are extremely friendly and the breakfast buffet was one of the best I've ever had. Hotel Pigalle, thank you for having me!

Very nice hotel! The classic romantic style is very nice and the rooms are very good as well. Mine was a petite one and it was very spacious. Although it was hard to find my room between the many hallways and halls, it was a nice maze 🤭 The breakfast buffet was good, variety of dishes and great quality. The location is perfect, just 5 min walk from the train central station.

Amazing location and such a nice room! Mesmerised by the lavish set up, every corner was insta-ready. The breakfast location was even more beautiful and spread was superb too! Definitely staying here again when I’m back in Gothenburg!

The hotel has very nice decor in bar and reception areas. And the staff! All of them, from receptionists to bartenders to breakfast staff, were incredibly nice, and it felt genuine. I want to go back, even though I just left.

Mrs C and I took the private jet to Gothenburg for a mini break. I booked this hotel as it looked quirky, had good reviews and the Grand Curioso where I had stayed before was fully booked. ||The hotel is very well located in the centre of the city in close proximity to the central station and tram links. Gothenburg is compact and very easy to get around so it’s perfectly positioned. ||The Pigalli is a marvellously quirky hotel. It has a 1920s vibe with low mood lighting, lots of velvet, sweeping curtains and floral wall paper. Period French music plays throughout the bar and corridors. A huge amount of effort has clearly gone into its interior design. ||The rooms are similarly styled and - spending so much time in generic business hotels - it is great to experience something different. If you prefer a quiet room request one on the inner courtyard as the outside rooms are all adjacent to the trams and are not all air conditioned so in summer you’d struggle with just a desk fan if the window was closed. Some rooms are very compact so if you need space on both sides of the bed book a larger room. ||Breakfast is simply stunning. Not massive, but rather a tasteful array of delicious fruits, breads and pastries as well as some hot items. ||All the staff are lovely. would like to recognise Alice in particular for her help during our stay.

Yelp
Simply put, one of my fav hotel experiences anywhere. This charming boutique hotel fashioned after "sinful Paris of the early 1900's" exudes style, classy comfort & decadence at a non-decadent price. Situated in the heart of Göteborg just a few mins walk from the train station, everything is within reach. For only a few bucks more, we opted for the 'Classic' room which affords a bit more room and includes a delightful nook for lounging. PROS: Breakfast: one of the greatest breakfast buffets you will ever indulge in...plus rooftop patio seating seals the deal! Fragrance: piped in scent helps make the experience unique Shower: greatest water pressure I've ever experienced at a hotel via rain shower head Motion sensor doors: frictionless movement Dimmer lights: sparking intimate evening shenanigans Molton Brown bath products: delicious Slow roll toilet lid: sometimes it's the little things Key deposit: hate keys in your pocket...not to worry, just drop at the front desk for safe keeping Restaurant/bar: perfect spot for a nightcap which includes a whiskey & tequila cart for deeper dives into the spirits CONS: Sewer smell: funky smells occasionally wafted into our room from down below

Yelp
Heaven or the Pigalle??!! OK, granted I make some assumptions here. Such as Heaven is an option for me in the afterlife. But barring that being in error, I have to say in all my years of business and personal travel (35 yrs.), this is most definitively the #1 best hotel I've ever stayed in. A close second was a villa in Bangkok circa 1991, but allow me to stay focused. The decor of the lobby lounge, rooms and hotel is straight out of Vienna fin de siecle, 1800's. The lobby/lounge area and restaurant are awash in the glow of candle light and fireplace. You'd think that every employee was an owner due to their sincere desire to make you welcome and comfortable. When my wife thought our luggage would be overweight, Niklas, the mgr. (owner?) kindly offered to pack and ship any excess clothing home to the States for us. And he would not consider taking any payment for this kind and gracious offering. The bedroom was a sanctuary. The think walls of the building block out almost all sound from within and without the building. Except for the magical train whistle from the nearby train station we heard next to nothing for the week we stayed there. The down feather bed, and mattress make you never want to get out of bed and deco photos, flowery wall coverings, and bathroom fixtures create a feeling of being back in the day. The restaurant deserves a review in and of itself. It is a gourmet experience from start to finish. From the multiple offerings at the customary inclusive breakfast fare of home baked goods, locally sourced cheeses, eggs, fantastic coffee and latte's and charcuterie to the incredibly creative and sumptuous dinner offering. All enjoyed tucked under the eaves of the inn's top floor and awash in the glow from the fireplace. So bottom line. If you find yourself in the charming town of Gotenberg, or even if you don't. You need to find your way to the Pigalle, walk in and let the door close behind you, and allow yourself be transported back to another place and time. And please give a big Philly hello to Kiklas and his team at the Pigalle!!

Yelp
I have saved my 100th Yelp review for a place I absolutely adore - Hotel Pigalle. If I were to die here I would die happy and in hotel heaven - what a beautiful way to go! Don't get me wrong, I do not want to die but before my days are over I would like to be able to enjoy this place many more times! The door mat greeting you in the entrance reads 'L'aventure Commence' (something like 'the adventure begins') and that is exactly how it feels. Stepping over the threashold of Pigalle is like stepping into another time area where Mr Gatsby would have felt right at home: brass details everywhere, beautiful wallpaper and lamp armatures, lush carpets and fabrics. The old style elevator wishes you a 'Bon Voayage' or tells you with the seductive voice of Scarlett Johansson that 'you look rather handsome tonight'. I could continue to list small details like these for three pages but I will stop here and let you find out for your self. Located just a stone's throw from the Central Station in Göteborg Pigalle sits in a very advantagous location close to everything which the city has to offer: restaurants, bars, siteseeing and shopping. Service at the hotel is wonderful, relaxed and friendly - Swedish style. Do not expect a door man or designated concierge. There is a restaurant in the hotel on the 4th floor called Atelier with an amazing open rooftop terrace which I highly recommend and will write a seperate review for. This is also where you enjoy the delicious breakfast in the morning. Most of all I love the decoration in this hotel. We stayed in room 323 which has a beautiful light and airy feeling. All the rooms are different with different designs and themes. This is the most beautiful boutique hotel I have ever stayed at. Don't die before you get to experience it!

Yelp
I loved staying at this hotel! The hotel has a 1900's sinful Paris vibe. The restaurant on the top floor is amazing. Stay here if you're in Gothenburg.

Yelp
It's an old style hotel with dark lightings. Not used to stay in the dark. Seems the live music is on and on without the end. Could be an attractive point to the young.

Yelp
We are locals who spent the night in the city during Christmas. This boutique hotel was absolutely perfect and it was a great place to spend the evening. The room was immaculate and well appointed. The breakfast in the morning was at their 5 star restaurant and was amazing. The staff was friendly and attentive. All in all it was a great place to stay. This will be our go to hotel from here on out.

Yelp
We stayed here for 4 nights in May. A lovely boutique hotel, that is a great alternative to the big international chains, if you are splashing out on a bit of luxury. The bar downstairs is nice and relaxed and the staff are helpful. We only visited the restaurant for breakfast, which was delicious, but it was packed every evening for dinner. Its close to the bus station and central in terms of getting around to sightsee. Drinks are expensive but only on a par with the rest of the city
