Getting right to my point, before the details, for a Marriott property, this is absolute trash. I would not stay here again, even if you gave me a free stay.
Customer service. Upon check in the rep checking me in, shushed me twice, when i was trying to ask her a question in reference to the type of room i wanted. No eye contact, rude, like i was disturbing her.
When i finally was able to ask a question, she was done and wanted to hand me my room key. I asked, did you check on the 3 requests that i asked for online? 1 A room with a bath/shower combo. 2 A high room overlooking the airport, so i can watch the planes take off and land. 3 If i could possibly be upgraded to a nice suite at no additional charge. Her answers were, "we don't have suites on this property" (that's not true, they do). "all rooms have a bath and shower combination". (that's not true, some are accessibility with walk in shower only). So then i asked again, ok, well then can you get me a room overlooking the airport on a high floor? Her answer was, "well, you can go up to the room, and look out the window to see if it does, then let me know". So, you want me to do your job for you, carry all my stuff up to the room, look at the window, then let you know. After her then calling 4 different people to find out which rooms overlooked the airport, i said forget it and took my room key.
I went up to my room on the 7th floor. The room key card did not work, so i had to call and ask for someone to come up and let me in the room with new keys. They did, that took about 10 minutes.
I got in the room, looked out the window, to overlooking the 5th floor roof and HVAC system, not overlooking the airport, and surrounded by so many trees, i couldn't even see the Nashville skyline.
I left to go to dinner, and stopped at the bar to have a drink.
I asked the bartender, if they had a list of restaurants in the area i could see, since i was unfamiliar with the area. Her response was, "well I'm sure there's one around here somewhere". And that was it. No looking for it, no recommendations, nothing.
I ordered a drink, there was a woman sitting next to me. We had some casual conversation about what kind of work she was in, (airlines), and what i do, (electronics). I finished my drink after about 15 minutes. The bartender charged me for my drink and 3 of her drinks, i guess, assuming we were together. So my $10.00 drink cost me $46.00. (Melvin, the Manager had the charges reversed)
After dinner, i came back to the hotel and pressed the elevator button. The elevator stopped working, and i waited with others around 15 minutes, but both elevators were stuck. I found a maintenance person, who took the freight elevator up apparently, and re-appeared in the elevator i was waiting on. I guess they had to replace the squirrels on the wheel to get it going again.
I got up to my room, showered (hot water takes 10 minutes to get hot), then went to bed to relax and watch TV. The TV didn't work. I had to call the front desk, they sent someone up to fix it, and within about 15 minutes he had it running.
The next morning, i explained all of this to Melvin, the Manager. He was very kind, seemed genuinely concerned and apologetic.
During the day, i received a phone call from the hotel, letting me know that they had changed my room, and for me to come get new keys and i could move my room. (no one offered to help me move all of my things to the other room, i had to request it)
I was moved from the 7th floor to the 8th floor, which is the highest floor currently, because they are doing construction on floors 9, 10 and 11.
I opened the double doors, and behold! A nice suite and it was overlooking the airport. SO, THEY DO HAVE SUITES. (The front desk clerk lied to me at check in, saying there were no suites on that property) The suite was nice, although dated, with old dingy stained carpet, and a very used bathroom, that needs remodeling, (as they are going to be doing).
I woke up in the next morning with 5 spider bites on my arms, ass, and hip. I spoke to Melvin the Manager again, and he agreed to have my room fumigated while i was out.
NEVER AGAIN WILL I STAY HERE. MELVIN WAS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL, but the hotel and the customer service and amenities were terrible.
