Wonderful 5 days at this location. Dog friendly. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Parking can be an issue as they only have valet ($40 per day). There are other parking options. Room was nice and clean, no problems sleeping. We were there on vacation and everything was just a short walk.

The hotel was easy to find. The staff were friendly. The street was closed off because of the annual PVD festival so we were forced to use valet parking ($40) because all the self park lots were closed for the festival. At first, we were excited to see that one of the festival stages, Snow Street lot, was literally outside our second floor room, and we noted on a google search that the festival would be over at 8pm. But the pounding, pulsating music, DJ screaming and crowd noise actually did not end until about 11:30pm, making sleep absolutely impossible. The windows of our room had an extra layer of plexiglass, which I imagine helped dampen the sound, but it was like being under water at a techno concert. Not fun. The beds were not particularly comfortable (creaky if you turned over), and my companion and I both woke with sore backs. The next morning, I was looking for what the hotel website seemed to indicate was a complimentary breakfast, but there was only coffee and an empty (by 10am) plate of what I saw earlier were danishes cut into thirds. The real breakfast, if you wanted it, was in the restaurant and seemed to have decent pricing, but we opted to drive to a diner. I think the experience would have been much better if we had paid better attention and seen the PVD Festival had been happening, but also, the festival info said it would be shut down by 8pm, so we would have probably booked the room anyway and been robbed of sleep nonetheless. I think it would have been nice for the hotel to give a break on the $40 valet price since the self pay option had been wiped out by the festival. Maybe even a discount at checkout due to the loud music playing well past 8pm would have been nice, but that’s probably asking too much. But altogether, the hotel was clean, the staff was pleasant, and the valet service people were also very nice. It was just unfortunately a very, VERY expensive poor night’s sleep.

I am in Providence for a short business trip - it was my first time here, and I loved my stay at this hotel. It was really quiet at night, lots of food around, the service was outstanding! 🙏Grateful!

We are overall satisfied with our 3 night stay. The room was fine, needs a bit improvement though power outlets were limited, water flooded through the shower curtain every time we used it. I completely understand the concept but furniture in the room is pretty used. A refreshment wouldn’t destroy the historic aesthetic. The bed was super comfortable. Staff is good, not very friendly but they do their job. Little snack bar in the lobby is a nice touch. Only problem there are homeless folks staying next door. I recommend take this into consideration if you’re traveling alone. We avoid walking in the evenings due to that.

Justin and Jairo were amazing bartenders! Wonderful experience at an amazing hotel. Food was great. Sebastian keep the good desserts available for us during the entire event her at hotel Providence. Can't wait to come back again. And Devon was awesome!

If you have a conference at the convention center, this hotel is in a great location. The rooms are fine if dated and the beds are comfortable. I did really like that I was able to get the room cold enough to sleep - some hotels are too hot at night no matter what you set the thermostat to. But, I won't stay here again. The restaurant is a work in progress and the front desk staff are super nice but untrained in how to support visitors to the city. Parking is outrageous at $41 a night and you have to wait more than 30 minutes to get your car when you need it. The other thing I caution about is hidden fees. The hotel mysteriously charged me $45 with no notice, no receipt, no explanation - nothing. When I called to find out why, they told me it was because I didn't book the room on their website so I get charged this extra fee. What felt extra shady about this is the lack of notification and receipts. I found out by looking at my credit card statement. When I called, the staff had clearly received complaints about this before and were well prepared to tell me that this extra fee was not refundable. I am upset about this because I would have stayed elsewhere if I had known the price of this room wasn't actually the real price. In all my years of travelling in the US and abroad, I have never experienced this kind of secret extra fee being charged before.

We stayed three nights at the Hotel Providence - business for me, recreation for spouse. The hotel is an elegant historic property, very well maintained with very spacious, well-appointed and clean rooms. It is a relatively small boutique hotel offering many thoughtful amenities, and exceptionally courteous and attentive service. Free continental breakfast daily, as well as free coffee, soft drinks, cookies and snacks throughout the day. Exceptional service was provided by Jairo, along with Shamara and Raquel, who saved our dinner plans when our room safe filled with cash and credit cards failed to open properly one evening. Jairo came to the rescue, with courtesy, concern, and humor, and made it all work out. We had an outstanding stay, and will certainly return to this hotel on our next visit.

Adrianna and Raquel were amazing! So welcoming and helped us navigate the area as needed! ||The valet team also was responsive and friendly. ||We also were welcomed by every staff member we encountered. ||When in Providence for a short stay, we will certainly come back here!

Yelp
I stayed at the Hotel Providence during the Rhode Island film festival. It was a great experience! The location is super central. The staff was lovely -- special shout-out to Eli and Rocky for making it fun and memorable-- and the hotel is quite pretty. All the normal vintage hotel quirks apply: some windows face into brick light tunnels, and there is occasional hallway noise from other guests, but those elements are something that I personally love when traveling. The bed was incredibly comfortable, which to me, is the most important part of any out-of-town stay.

Erica S.

Yelp
If you are looking for something older and boutique this would be it. The best thing for me was the view from my window of a beautiful church and steeple. Food options are limited and not open long enough. Walking distance to other bars and restaurants.

Yelp
Thanks to a welcoming staff and professional service all around! Eli was very helpful and courteous as well as the parking attendant!

Yelp
AVOID. I was ready to give this hotel a 4 star review until I looked at my car the next day. We paid $40 for the overnight valet parking and I even tipped the valet an extra $20 upon my arrival. When we left the next morning it was raining so we rushed into the car without giving it a good look over. The next day we noticed these scratches all over our hood (more not pictured). I'd like to believe it wasn't the hotel staff, but either way that means they aren't parking cars in a safe location. This was on top of paying approximately $350 for a one night stay...

Yelp
I will begin with the positives of The Providence Hotel which I contribute to the 1) the Staff, and 2) the location. I will state that the Staff (Sam & Elijah, and others whom I did not interact with) were great as evidenced by their attentiveness to the check in/check out process, room change support, and attention to the lobby snack area. Yes, the lobby has complimentary snacks and beverages throughout the day; fresh grounded and brewed coffee, tea, soda, and water, and chips, cookies, and nutrigain bars! The hotel location is central to the downtown area located within walking distance to many schools, coffee shops, restaurants, and other sites to see. The hotel is about 9.4 miles from the airport, which as of Nov. 2023, was a $20 Uber ride; Uber and other ride sharing services are easy to get to and from the hotel. For the two reasons mentioned above, I give Hotel Providence two stars. Minus three starts for the value and cleanliness. I paid $260 per night for a W, Thur., & F. With this cost, I could have expected updated and clean facilities. Rather, within one hour of being assigned to my room on the third floor, I observed a mouse run across my room from the closest to the other side of the room. In looking at the closet, I noticed droppings and noticed that there was not only a gap between the closet door and floor, but also between the bedroom door and floor. In addition, the first bedroom had peeling wallpaper, leftover hair in the shower, and some light bulbs that did not work. I called the front to report the pest concern to which they agreed to switch my room with a "sorry". I quickly packed up and went to the lobby with my belongings to obtain my new keycard to a bedroom on the fifth floor. Happily, there were no mice observed in my new room; however, again, the room had leftover hair in the shower and sink, dust/debris under the beds, other furniture, surrounding the front door frame. I was far too tired to change rooms again, and under a tight schedule to change hotels; thus, I kept everything in my suitcase until it was needed and put towels in front of the bedroom and closet doors to ensure no visitors were able to get in. Lastly, the noise level was concerning on both floors- the walls are thin- coughing, grunting, talking, and alarms can be heard in the rooms. I had to put a white noise application on my phone all three nights to ensure I was able to sleep. While I understand there are budgetary issues with the state of the economy impacting staffing and the ability to address general maintenance, and that this hotel is located in a downtown area where pest may be more prevalent, this issue needs to be address as there was at least one more in my group who had a similar experience on a different floor. In summary, this hotel is located in a central area; however, it is outdated and not what you would expect paying $260 per night for a basic room. I think Hotel Providence has potential and this experience must be reflective of the difficult economic times many businesses are going through.

Yelp
I spent the weekend there recently to review some eating restaurants nearby. I chose the area because it was walking distances to places I needed to be. The area felt somewhat seedy on a side street, people congregating on street to sleep for the night and the alleyway below my room had gatherings. It was ok walking before dark but I did Uber or taxi back. Hotel staff friendly but asked specific questions about room were clueless. New versus their newer rooms I was in older section. Room outdated for what I was charged, dirty old drapery, door was hard to close had cracks on both sides could see hallway, sheet on bed was wrinkled( I slept on top sheet) the only nice thing bathroom totally remodeled. There was no instruction book or information in room about hotel property. When asked about exit stairs from top floors I was told look at end of hallway. I saw some wood walls in the exit areas of the staircases and windows in the exit areas not closed properly adjacent to attached roofs. It looked like a scary exit have no idea where it went outside? Very uncomfortable with exits. The lobby outdated w old stuffed furniture, restaurant does not belong to hotel. Dark dreary bar area was not appealing to sit for cocktails. I didn't feel, I wanted to deal w staff because I had asked previous questions without any professionalism from them. There is expensive valet takes forever to get your car out, narrow street for unloading, limited staff for assisting. Watch your billing when you leave mistakes made. If you want cheaper &gloomy go there. Next time I'll go back to Hotel Beatrice new, trendy, safe. I'll give only 2 stars for walking to my venues, updated bathroom.

Marie H.

Yelp
The gentleman that checked me in at night was super nice. The room was pretty, but the walls are thin. Didn't get any sleep first night, since the person above me kept walking around. They did give me a white noise machine for the following night and offered ear plugs. I can or will sleep with ear plugs. The machine help somewhat, but never got a full good night sleep. Last night getting my car, I found it strange that 2 valet people had been riding in my car together? Why? Both mornings trying to get my car before 6 am was a challenge. This morning I called the front desk starting at 5:30, had to keep calling back for over 20 min. Front desk attendant Jason was nowhere to be found. Barely made it to work on time. Horrible!! Location great, pretty, but not worth what you pay!

Yelp
On their website, the Hotel Providence claims they offer European flair and New England charm, and that their hotel is steeped in historic character dating back to the 19th century. This is 100% accurate from my perspective, an old, beautiful and nicely maintained property, with a lovely lobby and wonderful architectural details. They also say that you can "Savor a delicious meal or handcrafted cocktail at Backstage Kitchen & Bar, serving creative New England classics with innovative twists". But according to recent Yelp reviews and my prior experience, this is sadly not the case. They currently have a 2.5-star Yelp rating, as was evident by their nearly empty restaurant and bar the other evening, as we walked past on our way to Red Fin Credo (which was packed). It's unfortunate, as the hotel restaurant is very attractive and offers a wonderful outside patio. The rooms are spacious, with high ceilings, large windows and large bathrooms. The staff is courteous and attentive. They provide complimentary (and quite good) coffee first thing in the morning, in the lobby. And they offer valet parking, which was $30 a day. Note that there is a parking lot directly across the street if you don't want to hassle with a valet, which is $25 a day. The fitness room is in the basement. It is large and well equipped, but of course it is windowless. There is a stairway down from the lobby. They provide treadmills, elliptical, dumbbells, a small Hoist universal and a weight bench. It's fine, certainly adequate. The Hotel Providence is in an excellent location. This is my second visit and I'd be happy to return. Rates are not inexpensive, but you do get an attractive room, comfortable bed, bathrobes, and a beautiful property. One nitpick on this visit was the lack of pillows. This is supposed to be an upscale hotel, but our bed had only three pillows. Two per person should be the minimum for any hotel, especially for the "only AAA Four Diamond luxury boutique hotel in Providence," which is "passionate about providing stellar hospitality."

Yelp
Staying here was so nice. Staff awesome- room awesome- location awesome- price good. Covid restricts so much but everything was clean and tidy and the staff will even bring happy hour to your room since bar was closed. The weather was frightful but with so many food and drink options in this Arts district I was happy to face the cold winds! Pet friendly so this is a huge plus for us!!! You have to walk up to the college to find some grass for your pet (and bring your tissue for pick up) but the walk is so nice. I wish I could give this place 5 star but it's not THAT fancy;) still pretty nice! We love the history behind the building too!!! We stayed in 304. 2 queens and a pull out sofa.

Reena R.

Yelp
Cute hotel. They gave us a room in the back of the hotel with small windows and hardly any light, we asked for something with more light and they moved us to the building closer to the front which had more light and was a little roomier. The rooms were pretty clean and good service, nice staff.

Yelp
Recently, I've found myself staying at boutique hotels. Hotel Providence is a beautiful establishment. It's right in the heart of downtown Providence. This area boasts culture, color, and liveliness, which you can see and feel as soon as you hit the streets of Prov. The parking lot across the street from the hotel has beautiful murals - you should definitely check out if you're into that sort of thing. I stayed in a standard room with two queen beds for a business trip. The room was nice, clean, spacious, with a decent view of the city from the 5th floor. The room came with a mini-fridge, safe, desk, ice bucket, coffee/tea maker ironing board, premium channels, pretty decent free WiFi, two white robes, and a matching pair of large slippers. The room did not come equipped with a microwave but you can simply call the front desk and have one delivered to you if you need one. Okay so can we talk about the bathroom? The lighting was excellent. Also, this was one of the first hotels I stayed at that had a digital scale. It also had a magnifying ring light. I fell in love right there. My only gripe about the bathroom is that they don't have shower caps. I feel like that's a very basic bathroom essential. The hotel itself is interesting. I stayed on the 5th floor and the architecture seemed almost maze-like. It would be interesting to know what the building served as prior to becoming a boutique hotel. FYI: There is no free parking in/around the downtown area (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). I think this is a major flaw for the city. Even Washington D.C. has free parking after a certain time, even with all their zoned parking. Valet is $30/night. Everything else is metered. The front desk staff were interesting. Not really rude or friendly. Just there.

Adrienne K.

Yelp
Hotel Providence is centrally located to many restaurants, bars, boutiques, the Providence Place mall, and the Rhode Island State House. The boutique hotel even has free cookies in the lobby area! Parking is $29 for valet, with free ins and outs. We reserved a double full bed suite, which had a living space in a separate room, central air condition, two tvs, views of the downtown area, fridge, bath robes, disposable slippers and an umbrella for the unpredictable rainy days (which came in hand during my short visit. My only gripe was that the bathroom smelled like wet rag and there was not vent, fan or window to air out the bathroom. But overall, I would recommend Hotel Providence and would stay here again if visiting the area.

Yelp
This is my preferred hotel when I come to Providence for a weekend. It's charming, clean, and the staff is helpful and kind. I've stayed here twice during covid times and I've felt safe and that protocols were handled well. And my room was spotlessly clean both times. It's also in a fantastic location. If you're like me and love to walk this is perfect. Everything downtown is close and you can even stroll to the west side or east side , though you may have to navigate some construction if you're headed west. Friendly and quick valet service, too.

Tc B.

Yelp
I paid $285 for a room which had the amenities of a room from decades past (excluding the TV). The room was nice, the bed was comfy, and the lady at the front desk (Molly, I think) rocked, but the amenities were far too archaic for the rate I paid. Also, it is located in a very dirty part of downtown Providence. I felt safe, but the sidewalks were littered. It's neat to look at, in passing, but it's time has passed.

Michael B.

Yelp
Jonah S was extremely helpful and affable. He greatly enhanced our stay. He moved us to a superior room with a much better view.

Masha S.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, beautiful room with great amenities except.... all windows were facing brick wall. Kind of a deal breaker. Room 309, Robert Frost suite so keep that in mind when booking/checking in!

Diane R.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel with amazing furnishings, paintings and antiques. Just a stunning property. The staff is also lovely, funny and super helpful. At the front desk, Jonah made sure I had everything I needed and is super funny. Nick, "The Valet Guy," will have you in stitches, but also knows a lot about the history of the place. The Management is lucky to have them. Definitely putting this Hotel on my list of faves in the country.

Kristie S.

Yelp
Have stayed here before in one of the nicer rooms and it was wonderful, but my last stay here wasn't great. They put me in a room that you had to enter an outer door to get into and it was directly across from another room that was occupied - I really doubt that all their other equivalent rooms were full during covid times. The walls were very thin and the people in that room were very loud and kept me up all night which wasn't the hotel's fault, but the design of that room setup really was horrible. There were a lot of rooms not set up like this that really would have been preferable. Then I saw that there was no shampoo or conditioner, only a soap bar. I really wanted to have a comfortable stay but this experience wasn't great.

K. L.

Yelp
This weekend I took a short trip to Providence. I stayed at the Hotel Providence. What a beautiful older building! Covid protocol was strictly observed and I felt very safe staying here. The room was spacious and clean. The Keurig coffee machine and mini fridge was a wonderful convenience. It is within walking distance to many local restaurants and site seeing. And they are very pup friendly. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Sergio P.

Yelp
Very impressed with the quality of this hotel. It was much cheaper than the others we looked at. But regardless of price this was a really nice place and it was pet friendly. Our room was clean and inviting with newer updates. The bathroom was clean and spacious. Valet parking was available and helpful due to the location in the heart of town. The lobby was very nice and the staff were top notch. The pet fee of $75 a night was a little more than I am used to paying but our puppy was comfortable as well.

Jen M.

Yelp
While the hotel is beautiful, the restaurant was closed during our stay. There was also no breakfast buffet in the morning and since the kitchen was closed there was also no way to order food from our room. In August, Providence is just deserted and most places are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Overall, it's OK for a one night stay.

Cayla M.

Yelp
The hotel is gorgeous. However the pillows are so hard that my neck hurt throughout my entire stay and we slept horribly. The only thing worse than that was the parking attendant at the partnered lot was insane. I cannot believe I paid $75 for this parking. I had the pass provided to me by the hotel. The first morning she ran me down and insisted I needed to replace it with one she provided. Then the day after that she CHASED my car down to see it again. There were only 4 cars. Why would you not just walk around and look when you got there? The chasing me on top of being just rude, IF I stay here again, I'll never park there.

Graham P.

Yelp
Had a very nice and comfy stay here over the weekend. The door man was a great guy, and the front desk was friendly and helpful for the most part, though there were a few small confusions. Our request for a high floor that was quiet was seen to and we had a beautiful view over the top of a church from the top floor. Room was large and gorgeous with a comfy bed and marble bathroom. Price was a bit high, but definitely a good stay with a nice late check out.

Alex d.

Yelp
Great location right in downtown, walkable to excellent restaurants. Bonus points for being dog friendly. Hotel staff is friendly and very accommodating. I will definitely stay here any time my travels take me to Providence.

Linda M.

Yelp
WOW!!! I loved this hotel and would stay again without hesitation. We stayed here over the July 4th weekend and ended up in the HP Lovecraft suite which we adored! When we walked in we had a moment of sheer pleasure. Separate living space, gorgeous bathroom, privacy and comfort all in one! Service was discreet and timely when needed. We were right down the street from shopping, food and amenities.

Brand X.

Yelp
We have stayed here many times in the past and have enjoyed it. But on our most recent visit, booked through Hotwire, we were surprised to discover two days after we checked out that they now charge an Amenities Fee, in our case $22 for one night. Since the WiFi is listed as complimentary on their website and the parking cost $30, I'm struggling to figure out just what amenities this new fee covers. The crappy little "gym" in the basement? The lukewarm coffee in the lobby? Looks like it's time to check out some of the other hotels in downtown.

Madeline M.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed in Hotel Providence on our wedding night in the Dr. Seuss suite. Check in was super quick and simple and Covid precautions were strictly followed. The lobby was really pretty, but when we entered the suite, we were stunned. It was gorgeous, and it was so much larger than we thought! The cost was also affordable, especially for the size of the room. We live in Providence, but regardless, we will definitely be back! :)

Jennifer D.

Yelp
I absolutely love coming here for events! The hotel is in the center of Providence, within walking distance to everything and offers balconies, a treed courtyard, valet, and several event spaces suitable for weddings, parties, large dinners, business conferences, etc. Kate, who handles the events, was so helpful in explaining to my group the history of the hotel, it's architecture, literary themes, and amenities. I certainly recommend anyone doing business or celebrating in the city check them out!

Glenn P.

Yelp
Tried to make a Father's day reservation for over a week leaving voice mails and leaving messages with staff - no return call. Have been to the restaurant before for breakfast but never as a buffet. Returned this year but was a buffet. It was more like a continental breakfast. The selection was minimal at best. No breads or toast. Bacon was burnt to the point of crumbled when you tried to pick it up. Waffles were hard as you needed a steak knife to cut. Pastries were soggy (still defrosting I guess). You had to pick through the fruit to avoid mushy (rotten?). Coffee was self service only. Juices where in single serve bottles. No special orders - no pancakes. Seating was such that if one person needed to get up the whole side of the table had to get up - too tight as they tried to squeeze a large group in the lounge. All this for $24 per person with automatic 18% gratuity. Parking is a nightmare in the city and the hotel had a low cost valet. This year valet was $16 to park on a SUNDAY. Staff was polite and accommodating to a point.

Susan W.

Yelp
Everyone of the workers that I came into contact with was helpful and friendly. The hotel was very clean and I felt safe there. There's quite a few restaurants within walking distance which was nice. Their restaurant was closed so I didn't get to try it. The room I stayed in was very nice and clean. The only unenjoyable part was the right on temp. It was too hot for me especially at night. I turned down the heat. I turned it off completely. I even tried setting it to cooling. Nothing seemed to actually change the temp. At times it was 73 in my room which is too hot for sleeping. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and spacious and the shower had decent water pressure. I'd definitely come stay again.

Narendra D.

Yelp
I came to Providence for work. I told the front desk that I am a light sleeper. They put me in a room by the elevator where the noise woke me up 4-6x every night. There were some noisy events going on outside, and when I asked for a room on a higher floor, they said "Sorry, this is the highest floor available for your room type." Don't stay here if you are a light sleeper! (also the Wifi is miserably slow - as in dialup internet slow).

Jon G.

Yelp
The hotel claims all their employees wear masks in public settings of the hotel. We checked in on July 1, and the front desk person was not wearing a mask. We saw her later that evening and she still was not wearing a mask. The next morning we saw two front desk employees, one of whom (a guy) was not wearing a mask. This was very surprising that the hotel's front desk staff would disregard public health mandates and the statements the hotel made on its own website, and thereby put the health and safety of its guests at risk. If you stay here, be warned that it appears this establishment does not follow at least some important safety protocols.

Laura M.

Yelp
We found this hotel last minute and it was just perfect. We stopped into the city (or town because it's just so adorable) of Providence after a long & stormy drive from Maine (think Nor'easter & major flooding). We decided to drive right past Boston (which we've visited many times before) and so glad we did. During a 3-hour boozy lunch (info to follow), I searched for a place to rest our tired heads and full bellies. We found The Hotel Providence, a last minute booking on "hotels.com" when the price there was 15% cheaper than that quoted by the hotel. Our savings bought us a delicious brunch the next day. Info to follow... The hotel was beautiful. Truly a boutique hotel. It was very interesting in that it was an old, historic hotel that had a classy art-deco style makeover. But not too modern. Perfectly classy. Just as I would want a hotel to be. The lobby was beautifully. It offered warm beverages and complementary quick pastries in the morning. Also a small pet bed for your traveling companion. It was super chíc. I did not visit Aspire, the hotel restaurant-bar. It looked just so. A hotel restaurant-bar. Which, don't get me wrong is perfect on many occasions, but not when you're in the middle of this fantastic city. Dropped off luggage in the room and I freshened up while my gentleman stared me down, "Ready yet?". I followed Yelpers' advice and made our way 4 blocks to The Eddy. It wasn't wheelchair accessible, and we retreated back to a bar 1 block over from the hotel. I should have listened to the young girl at the check-in desk when she initially suggested Local 121. It was superb. After a night of great food and perfectly made cocktails, we sauntered back to our room. Thankfully, only one block away. How nice. The room was a good size and very cozy. The bed is high. It was a queen, though I'm not even sure what it lists as when booking. Blanket was nice and soft. There's a cute little pillow with a cute little quote on the cute little bed. Very cute. But everyone knows cute little pillows do not get laundered. Icky. Also, our view was an alley with a couple of dumpsters and another building. Not even a sliver of sunshine. I get the impression the rooms may all be varying shapes/sizes. There are steps up in some spots in the hallways. We generally require a wheelchair accessible room, but with it being last minute I didn't have the option to be too picky. This is just a note in case you can't manage stairs. (After I booked on hotels.com, I called the hotel directly to advise them that my husband uses a wheelchair and they were happy to accommodate us.) The shower was fantastic. A nice size shower stall with glass door. Strong water pressure. Robe provided. My "only" complaint is the quality of the linens. The towels were kind of rough. But the bath mat was luxurious on my piggies. Perfect ending- gentlemen to assist you when you leave. Not hotel employees. Real gentlemen. Restaurants: Lunch, The Grange: Though neither of us is a vegetarian, we're foodies, love our veggies, appreciate well made food and are open to anything. This place was fantastic. You will not be asking yourself, "Where's the beef?". The lounge with swinging chairs and the cozy music playing is enough to have me come back for more. NOT within walking distance to this hotel. Late night drinks, Local 121: Just a block away. We didn't visit for a formal dinner (though I am bookmarking for a future visit), what we did have was fantastic. Pâté, cheese plate, even the fries were delicious. And these bartenders know how to make a cocktail. I recommend a bartender's special- let them help you choose a drink. The old wooden decor makes this place perfectly classy. I might have seen Dean Martin at the other end of the bar. Brunch, Nick's on Broadway: Incredible way to end our short stay in Providence. You watch the chefs at work. This was THE BEST gluten free bread I've ever had (home made in house). I also had a vegetarian dish here and it was Aca-mazing! So good, that I drove my leftovers home to NJ and had them for lunch. Yes, that good. NOT within walking distance to this hotel. The irony of Providence... We had a week long trip to Maine all planned and mapped out. One random 24 hours in Providence, and it was the best hotel and food we had during our whole vaca. Isn't it nice when life surprises you like that? Hope you enjoy your stay in Providence!

Yelp
Staff were courteous and friendly. The hotel itself though could have been cleaner and fresher. The bathroom had a putrid, musky smell as did the carpets. Every morning, we had to walk over a person passed out on the sidewalk just steps from the hotel entrance and human feces was in the doorway of the building next door. DISGUSTING! Someone threw up in the hallway of the hotel overnight. I reported the vile mess to the front desk and their solution was to place a towel over it until housekeeping arrived. 2 hours later and the towel and vomit were still there. Such a disappointing end to our road trip.

Yelp
I visited Hotel Providence for an on-site conference. The most exceptional element of my stay here was the hotel staff. Each and every person I dealt with was welcoming, attentive, and professional. My room was spacious and well-equipped with a microwave, coffee maker, mini fridge, and more. The queen bed was comfy with good-quality linens. The room and bathroom were both perfectly clean. Interestingly, the public spaces of the hotel feature many remarkable, original artworks. I would certainly stay at Hotel Providence again.

Yelp
If I were giving my rating based solely on the staff, it would get 4 stars. Every single person we have encountered here has been kind, courteous, helpful, professional and eager to get it right. This hotel however, is FILTHY. Carpets are stained. Walls are stained. Floors are stained. Curtains are stained. And I have been into two different suites. I had to move suites because the first suite had a bed with a HUGE wet spot in the middle of it! GROSS!! This second suite we are in has dry beds, but everything else is filthy like the first room. I imagine this establishment used to be quite lovely and grand. But today it is a run down, dark, dirty place in desperate need of an upgrade. We're the physical spaces to match the level of the employees here, this place would be amazing! Until then, I would say-if you want to feel clean after your shower, or not worry about bringing bedbugs home with you- you best stay somewhere else.

Yelp
Wow what a let down. For a hotel that rates itself 4 stars, the only thing in the place that was four stars was the military guys standing in full regalia in the lobby when I arrived. Where to start. How about the doorman who carried our bags to the elevator then left them there. Apparently a cart was too much trouble. Dinner served until 9pm, then hope you enjoy delivery pizza. $4 bottles of water in your room. I think the most insulting thing was the cards ALL OVER telling you to conserve towels and conserve water. In itself not a bad thing, but then turn on the shower. It takes LITERALLY 10-15 MINUTES for hot water to get flowing. We even called the front desk as we thought it was a problem with the room, and the assured us to just let it run. Really? Conserve towels but let the water run for 10 minutes? What a joke. For the cost of this room I expected much better, and was truly disappointed. Next time I'll stay at the doubletree, or, if I want a similar experience to this, a motel six.

Yelp
This is the only hotel I've stayed at, but it will be my go-to from here on. The rooms and common areas are really well-appointed, upkeep is flawless, and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Located in a central downtown area that is pretty lively until about 10 pm, good restaurants and a great wine shop around the corner. I'd never been to Rhode Island so it was obviously a surprise to find that it is not well-portrayed in Family Guy, especially since there is no such place as Quahog, RI. Fake news? Anyway, great hotel here.

Yelp
Stayed here the night before a wedding I was a bridesmaid in and used a large room they had reserved for us to get ready before the wedding. The service was okay, we had asked for breakfast & coffee to be brought in and we got untoasted bagels, bananas and decent coffee. The room was a good size and we had a great morning getting ready.

Yelp
Love this hotel. Hands down the best customer service I've ever experienced. The room is very spacious for the cost, and the staff is completely incredible. From helping me find something to do to calling just to check in, I have had a great experience here. Would recommend in a heartbeat. Only reason it's not five stars--the walls are thin-ish. It doesn't bother me, but it does ONLY SLIGHTLY diminish the overall aesthetic of a private weekend. But this is minor compared to the great service. Thanks for the warm welcome to Rhode Island.

Yelp
Location is stellar. Smack in the middle of downtown. Well appointed lobby and clean rooms. We only stopped over one night to see a concert in Foxoboro (30 minutes north). Parking is a whopping $29 per night. Didn't do room service or eat in the restaurant. I would revisit. Some of the other decent hotels in the town were almost $100 more per night. Made my choice simple.

Yelp
Bed, location and customer service were top notch! While I was only there for one night, the staff goes above and beyond to take care of you. My room was rather large, the bathroom was absolutely fine (love the robe). The bed was super comfy, so much so I really didn't want to get out of it. Right in the heart of downtown, it was perfect. I would stay here again!

Yelp
First of all, they not only allow dogs but accommodate them! With doggie treats and beds right in the lobby, I think that's great. Okay well I was put here for a training conference, three meeting rooms were turned I to classrooms, the A/V was perfectly executed, and the rooms were set up very appropriately, they were quite chilly during my mid-July sessions however...Kudos! They only offer valet parking for $28 a night plus tips... I fear valets so I parked at the Biltmore garage 3 blocks over for $20 a day... worth the peace of mind to me. the elevator is a tad slow but as I made my way up the stairs to get to the room you get that old house smell and creaky steps, which I love!(being from New England it hits a special spot) it was odd because from the main hall on each floor there's one door per two rooms, go through that door and then you have separate doors for each room. Not sure why they don't take the first door out? (Maybe fire regulations?) The rooms are VERY CLEAN. It's abut of an odd set up but it's all part of the boutique hotel experience. The closet has very nice robes and even an umbrella to use! Which is helpful since he hotels location is great and you can walk anywhere (rain or shine) the carpeted floor is okay, it doesn't feel like there is even an ounce of padding underneath the carpet... the bed is wicked comfy WITH PLENTY OF PILLOWS. The TV is Samsung and Cox cable, sluggish reaction to the buttons, but works. The bathroom is nice, even includes a scale! However I noticed there is not much counter space if you usually use a lot of product you need to spread out(luckily I'm a minimalist) there IS both a mini-fridge and microwave! And the lamps are wicked cute! Overall I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone considering.

Yelp
Nice Hotel right in the center of town, I don't know if I'd stay there again but it is historic and is fun to stay at at least once. Enjoy!

Yelp
My stay in this hotel was great!! Room was a tiny bit stuffy and warm but I turned the A/C down a few extra degrees and that most definitely helped! TV was working and there were plenty of outlets to use. Decor was really interesting, and the lobby was really nice. There was a bit of garbage under the beds but staff was very helpful. The location was awesome as well, super close to lots of shops. I walked around for a long time, but the walk back to the hotel was somehow very short! I'd definitely recommend this hotel :)

Yelp
I'm just going to get it out of the way and put it right out there: I had to resort to using an RJ-45 jack. Multiple times, no less. "But Kevin, why would you ever do something like that," you may ask. I'm happy to share: Because my room was furnished with one, and it was the only means by which I could access the internet. Because my Verizon card had iffy reception, and the in-house wi-fi was impossibly far to connect to. Sketchy 21st century technology aside, The Hotel Providence is pretty much all one could ask for in a boutique hotel: tiny, pleasant reception desk; attached restaurant; cozy room with kitschy old-fashioned decor. In my (admittedly) limited experience, this is far more up my alley than the generic chain experience you'll get just up the street at the Hampton Inn.
